Will George Floyd’s Death Unite Muslims Behind Non-Muslim African Americans?

That is what many on the political Left are banking on as CAIR is out front in its call for Muslims to support their black brothers.

Go here to see the entire poster: https://www.cair.com/press_releases/protesting-use-these-posters-study-your-rights-stay-safe/

I guess you are asking—haven’t they been doing that all along?

Not so much!

Over the years, almost 13 now, writing this blog I’ve come across reports that the mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about—tension in African American communities that don’t take kindly to the arrival of Muslim ‘refugees’ plopped down in the middle of their neighborhoods—as I mentioned here the other day when writing about how diversity does not bring strength and that the American magical melting pot is a myth.

Now this morning I see that Dean Obeidallah, opining at the Daily Beast , is salivating about the possibility of an alliance that he sees growing between Muslim activists, like CAIR, and African American rights activists.

Unfortunately, in order to read the whole thing a subscription is required, but here is a bit of his thesis with some nuggets about the tensions that have existed.  Some of you may have witnessed this in your own multiculti cities.

Daily Beast:

How Floyd Case Could Finally Unite Blacks and Muslims

(Emphasis is mine)

Despite the Muslim and African-American communities both being minority groups, and the fact that nearly one third of the Muslim American community is black, there’s been a history of tension or mistrust between many in the two groups. And George Floyd’s tragic murder and the reaction that followed both conjure up the past challenges for these two communities—and offer an inspiring sign of hope for the future.

One of the primary areas of friction arises from the fact that some Muslims own delis or even liquor stores in urban neighborhoods where they gladly accept the money of black customers but show no support for the African-American community in time of need.

Others, such as Michigan-based Imam Dawud Walid, who is African-American, [who also happens to be the director of CAIR-Michigan—ed], have called out South Asian and Arab Muslim store owners who profit off the black community by selling them goods that are detrimental to their health, as he did in a tweet this week:

While some have accused the Muslim owners of being welcoming of white patrons but openly hostile to black customers, calling them racist names in Arabic or other languages. [Who knew!—ed]

Add to that, internally in the Muslim community, some Middle Eastern/South Asian Muslims—primarily but not exclusively immigrants—had a history of not welcoming or being dismissive of them simply because of their race. This very point was made by comedian Hasan Minhaj this week on his Netflix series Patriot Act, as he addressed the murder of Floyd and need for “Brown” people—especially Muslims—to be a part of the fight against discrimination.

Go here and subscribe to the Daily Beast for more of this op-ed.

And, to give some perspective on the racist attitude toward blacks by some segments of the Muslim population, visit one of dozens of articles about the history of the African slave trade when Arab Muslims enslaved Africa’s indigenous people as they conquered and colonized North and East Africa.

By the way, you might find it informative to see Obeidallah’s trailer for a 2013 comedy show.  I can’t imagine it went over very well with some segments of the Muslim community.

(Updated) In Response to Lobbying by Refugee Activists, Arizona Senate says ‘Welcome Refugees’

***Update***

A reliable source is reporting that the news about the passage of this resolution is fake news!

SB1341 is a Dem bill and never got a hearing and won’t–https://apps.azleg.gov/BillStatus/BillOverview/73599
SCR 1024 is dead, dead, dead!  Another from the Dems–https://apps.azleg.gov/BillStatus/BillOverview/73599

However, the information about the lobbying effort and ‘We are All America’ is not.

The pro-refugee lobby day effort was organized by ‘We are all America’ a subsidiary of the National Partnership for New Americans.

We are all America’splatform is here (they have not updated their refugee section obviously) and is focusing on the following states with their lobbying campaign:  Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas.

I’m posting this news to show readers how organized the open borders left is.

Frankly, those of us concerned about too much immigration to America have nothing like this.

Republican Governor Ducey: Yes please! More refugees for Arizona!

Arizona sure looks like it is on the cusp of turning blue.

Recently the Republican governor was one of the first Republican governors out of the chute to oppose the President’s efforts to slow the refugee program and now the Republican Senate backs him because a bunch of refugee lobbyists descended on them (and because the Rs want the steady supply of cheap labor for their business pals.)

See my post on Ducey here…

Arizona: Republican Governor Ducey Says Arizona Wants MORE Impoverished Refugees

From Cronkite News:

Pro-refugee resolution passes Arizona Senate after push from local activists

PHOENIX – As a Somali refugee and determined activist, Naruro Hassan is used to other people speaking on behalf of the refugee community.

Naruro Hassan

Yet she was finally able to make her own voice heard Feb. 10, when a group of more than 50 lobbyists for refugee rights joined her at the Arizona Capitol to attend legislative meetings and speak to senators one-on-one.

By day’s end, the Senate unanimously passed a pro-refugee resolution expressing gratitude for refugee contributions within the state. It’s waiting on a vote by the House.

[….]

The We Are All America coalition, which works to empower and support the refugee community across the country, organized Refugee Lobbying Day, an event meant to empower refugees in the community, make their voices heard on the topic of resettlement and encourage state legislatures to pass pro-refugee legislation.

The gang is all here, including CAIR!

We Are All America was joined by other organizations, including the Council on American Islamic Relations, Somali United, the International Rescue Committee of Phoenix, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest and Arizona Jews for Justice.

Continue here.

I have no clue who is bankrolling ‘We are All America‘, but no surprise that two of the nine major refugee resettlement contractors that receive your tax dollars were in the mix.

Texas: Ten Political Agitation Groups Trash Governor’s Decision on Refugees

“It’s unfortunate that Gov. Abbott once again chose to make Texas distinct with its hate.”

(Imam Omar Suleiman)

Of course the first thing I wanted to know was who are the ten, and I’ll be darned, I couldn’t find out.  Maybe one of you can, but this story at the Dallas Observer only identifies a few of those who blasted Governor Greg Abbott for asking for a brief break in the stream of refugees being placed in Texas.

Just so you know, Abbott asked for a break that would last from only June to September 2020, surely not enough time to significantly slow the transformation of Texas from a conservative red state to a socialist blue state—which is what this is all about.

And, look who is prominently featured at the presser—CAIR and professional protester Imam Omar Suleiman.

Far Left: Imam Omar Suleiman, founder and president of Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and Faith Forward Dallas.

Dallas Refugee Organizations Unite Against Abbott’s Ban

Since when are CAIR and the Muslim American Society refugee organizations.

I don’t think the Trump White House planned it that way, but Trump’s September Executive Order sure is helping identify the political players working to change America by changing the people.

Here is a bit of the Dallas Observer  story:

Ten Dallas refugee, immigrant and religious organizations spoke in unified opposition Friday to Gov. Greg Abbott’s refusal last week to continue accepting refugees to Texas. [But, who are the ten?  The reporter names a few, mostly Muslims.—ed]

In a joint press conference, representatives of those agencies, who collectively offer housing, job, language, legal, social and general support to refugees and other displaced people, spoke directly to Abbott, arguing that refugees are an asset to Texas and asking him to reconsider his decision no longer to be a resettlement location for refugees.

“Today, we have a large multifaith, multicultural group of people coming together … to stand united to let the world know that Texas welcomes refugees of all backgrounds. And that we unequivocally condemn and stand against the governor’s decision to not allow refugees to come to our great state,” said Faizan Syed, executive director of the Texas DFW chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

[….]

Advocates and agency heads one by one called out Abbott’s ban as shameful, detrimental to Texas and contrary to the state’s values.  [I still want to know who are the ten groups.—ed]

[….]

“It’s unfortunate that Gov. Abbott once again chose to make Texas distinct with its hate,” said Imam Omar Suleiman, founder and president of Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and Faith Forward Dallas.

Suleiman, like other speakers, compared the present government policies toward refugees with those during the 1930s and 1940s, in which the country rejected many Jewish refugees fleeing the Holocaust.  [Crocodile tears!—ed]

Read it all here.

You met Imam Suleiman participating in an illegal sit-in at the US Capitol in March of 2018.  The corny demonstration was organized by our old friends at Church World Service.

That is Suleiman, CAIR’s Nihad Awad and Linda Sarsour about to be arrested at the demonstration against the President’s plans to end the DACA program for young illegal aliens.

The Leftwingers love this stuff—demonstrating, holding press conferences—and it works for them or they wouldn’t do it.

It occurred to me—where are our immigration restriction groups holding press conferences in support of Governor Abbott either on the national level or in Texas?

CAIR “thrilled” with Governor Hogan’s Letter in Support of More Muslim Refugees for Maryland

“We are thrilled with this decision.”

(Zainab Chaudry, director of CAIR Maryland outreach)

Of course they are, they have apparently been lobbying him heavily. Just as you can be sure they were busy in most states making sure that governors, especially Republican governors, toed the line.

I told you about Hogan’s consent yesterday, here.  I guess it shouldn’t have been a surprise because he has always been a ‘never Trumper’ so supporting the President on reform of the UN-driven Refugee Admissions Program wasn’t at the top of his priority list.

So far I am not seeing any Maryland county governments begging for refugees (although I can think of several ready to invite more ‘diversity’ and more poverty to their counties).

From WBAL-TV:

Hogan letter: Maryland will keep door open to refugees

BALTIMORE —
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is praising Gov. Larry Hogan’s decision to agree to receive refugees this year while criticizing President Donald Trump’s policies.

CAIR power! Big smooch for Hogan!

Hogan made his decision well before a Jan. 21 deadline set by the Trump administration.

In a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Hogan wrote, “We are willing to accept refugees who the federal government has determined are properly and legally seeking refugee status and have been adequately vetted.”***

“They are a great asset to Baltimore and to Maryland,” said Ibrahim Abusway, community development of Islamic Circle of North America Relief USA.

“We are thrilled with this decision,” said Zainab Chaudry, director of CAIR Maryland outreach.

The president imposed the requirement for cities and states to make a decision as to whether or not they would accept refugees after he cut the total number of refugees the United States will accept to a historic low of 18,000.

“This is just another step that is indicative of the Trump administration’s anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-refugee agenda,” Chaudry said.

While Maryland has accepted nearly 10,000 refugees under the Hogan Administration since 2016, Hogan was among 31 governors who wanted to refuse Syrian refugees in 2015.

“In 2018, CAIR had the opportunity to actually introduce Gov. Hogan to a couple Syrian refugee families that were settled in the Baltimore area, and not only was he able to hear more about their personal story, the circumstances that led them to flee their country and civil war and strife and to settle here in the United States, but he also learned about how they were launching a small business,” Chaudry said.

Just so you know, by very large margins (even under Trump), the vast majority of Syrians entering the US are Muslims.

*** This vetting issue is a red herring!  Hogan surely knows that you can’t robustly vet anyone when they come from failed states.  The vetting in many cases involves nothing more than asking the refugee if he/she has associated with any terrorist groups.  What do you think they will say!  Lying to infidels is permitted in the Islamic ‘faith.’

And, besides, the State Department’s Funding Guidance expressly says a governor can’t put any conditions on his/her letter.  However, Hogan did place a condition—he said they must be “legally vetted refugees” (whatever that means!).  See his letter here.

Was that so he could throw a little bone to all of you who might be concerned about who he is welcoming to Maryland?

Here is what the Funding Guidance says:

The letter may consent to initial resettlement for refugees only in certain localities within the state, but otherwise must convey the state government’s unambiguous and unconditional consent to accept the initial resettlement of any refugee in that state in FY 2020. The consent may not be conditioned on acceptance of certain refugees or on any other factor, such as refugees’ race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin.

For the umpteenth time—why are the squabbling factions in the Middle East our problem?  They have been fighting among themselves for centuries and we are then expected to take them in—why?

CAIR Crows: Muslims are Winning Big in Local Elections

Yes, and they will win even more as their population grows largely through legal immigration.

One might wonder, as I did here in 2007 why if refugees and Muslim migrants of all stripes were eager to assimilate did they need to place their people (representing their religion) into local, state and federal government?

Imam Hendi with Obama. See my 2007 post about Hendi’s visit to Saudi Arabia. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2007/08/08/muslim-mayors-coming-to-a-city-near-you/

And, just imagine, I asked then, if we would blatantly say—we want Catholics, Jews, other Christians as our leaders—wouldn’t all hell break loose in the media?

Yet, no one seems to care if CAIR says we are electing our people, Muslims, everywhere we can!

I’m referring to a post I wrote in the summer of 2007 where a US Imam, Yahya Hendi, went to Saudi Arabia to brag about how they planned to elect Muslims to political office throughout America.  It is worth a read now.

ISIS might be taking the fire jihad route, but their co-religionists at CAIR etc. are changing America by changing the people.

Here is the election news that has CAIR celebrating (hat tip: Cathy):

CAIR, Jetpac, MPower Change: 26 American Muslim Candidates Win in Nov. 5 Elections for Total of 34 Muslims Elected in 2019

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, and Jetpac, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing American Muslim representation in politics and the media, and MPower Change, one of the largest Muslim-led social and racial justice organizations in the United States, today reported 26 American Muslim electoral victories nationwide in yesterday’s off-year election.

[NOTE: These results are preliminary and subject to change.]

In Lewiston, Maine Somali Safiya Khalid   was elected to city council. Lewiston is a classic study on how enclaves of refugees can change American towns. Someone should write a book about the city’s transformation in only a couple of decades. https://www.mainepublic.org/post/maine-voters-make-history-electing-immigrants-local-offices-around-state

Throughout 2019, CAIR, Jetpac and MPower Change have identified at least 34 Muslim candidates who won elections in local and statewide races across the country. More than 80 Muslims ran for office this year at the local and state level.

“These electoral victories clearly indicate that American Muslims are stepping up and showing their commitment to public service,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad ***.

“We congratulate these Muslim trailblazers who are creating a more inclusive democracy for everyone.”

“American Muslims are running for office in large numbers because more of us are realizing that we have a unique perspective that will help fix massive inequities in healthcare, education, and the criminal legal system,” said Jetpac Executive Director Mohammed Missouri.

“We’re also aware that staying on the sidelines while anti-Muslim bigotry runs rampant will increase the threat to our community. A truly representative Democracy will help us get out of this dark era as a stronger society.”

“What do Muslim Americans do during a time of heightened Islamophobia under a xenophobic administration? We run for office and win,” said MPower Change’s Executive Director Linda Sarsour .

“Muslim Americans are engaging in the democratic process in unprecedented ways and we can’t wait to continue this wave in 2020 to save our democracy.”
