CASA de Maryland witnesses violence and murder involving their people

There goes the neighborhood.

CASA de Maryland’s headquarters. Be sure to read all about the Illegal’s ACORN:

Update:  A reader reports that according to court documents, Vargas-Salguero has a criminal record and is identified as: WHITE, CAUCASIAN, ASIATIC INDIAN, ARAB (whatever that is!).  No mention of immigration status.

The Washington Post reports that a Guatemalan regular at CASA de Maryland (the very rich and powerful government-funded advocacy and support group for illegal aliens in Maryland) was murdered on the steps of CASA’s luxurious mansion by another man who also appears to be of Hispanic (illegal?) origin. (There is no mention of the arrested man’s nationality or legal status.)  See update above.

Although they are mostly advocates for illegals we have have written about CASA at RRW on several previous occasions (there are some of those posts in this archive).

From the Washington Post:

Mynor Vargas-Salguero, 25, has been charged with first degree murder.

Miguel Angel Barillas worked as a landscaper for two years after coming to the United States from Guatemala to make a better life for his family back home, including a wife, two children and a mother with cancer.

Despite the tiring labor, he regularly ended his days at the headquarters of Casa de Maryland, where the free WiFi allowed him to sit on the steps and use his cellphone to Skype with his family.

Prince George’s County Police said they found Barillas’s unconscious body early Wednesday on the steps of Casa de Maryland in Langley Park. The 32-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive: cellphone theft.

Police said Saturday that they have arrested Mynor Vargas-Salguero, 25, of the 7900 block of Riggs Road in Langley Park and charged him with first-degree murder and armed robbery. They said that Vargas-Salguero allegedly stabbed Barillas and then took his cellphone.

Vargas-Salguero is in custody.

A spokesman for Casa de Maryland, the state’s largest community organization serving Latino families, said the incident has rocked the staff and families who rely on the organization for help. The group held a candlelight vigil Wednesday to remember Barillas and call for an end to violence.

“I would see him every day,” said Robert Asprilla, a lead organizer for Casa de Maryland who spent a lot of time with Barillas. “He worked until 6 p.m., and then he would get off, eat his meal and then come to Casa headquarters, where he sat outside to call his family. . . . He was killed right where he was every day.”

CASA calls for an end to violence and more community (taxpayer-funded?) cameras and policing:

Barillas lived in a large apartment complex near the Casa de Maryland headquarters. Although there are cameras on the building, security is inadequate, Asprilla said. “The community is asking for more cameras on every building. We have cameras at Casa, but we need more. We also need more community policing.”

By the way, CASA de Maryland was born out of the ‘sanctuary movement‘ that saw churches illegally moving Central Americans into America in the early 1980’s.

Would someone let me know if you see an update with more details about the immigration status of the alleged killer.

MD Governor O’Malley pleaded with White House: Don’t send them to WESTERN Maryland

They used to be good pals! Hmmmm!

I’m posting this for a couple of reasons, first, because you are going to hear the name Martin O’Malley a lot in the coming months and years—he wants to be the next Progressive occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, and second because we need a good laugh sometimes.

Last week we reported that a site in western MD —Westminster in Carroll County—had been identified as a potential new home for a couple of hundred illegal alien “minors.”  Locals caught wind of the plan and knowing conservative activists here there would have been a demonstration on par with anything Murietta, CA could produce.

In fact, a clip of Carroll County Commissioner Richard Rothschild (highly critical of the plan) was featured on the O’Reilly Factor last evening.  Rothschild said about his call to HHS:

“I want to point out that HHS, I asked HHS what are you going to do if these children can’t find their parents? Are you going to keep them imprisoned in this compound? No answers.”

Surely O’Malley, with his Presidential aspirations, didn’t relish the optics of a Murietta-style uprising on his home turf.  He did tell the White House that other locations in the state would be o.k.

Maryland has a well-established refugee resettlement program and one of the big nine*** federal contractors—Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service—is located in the upscale area known as the Inner Harbor.   Not to mention the fact that the notorious Casa de Maryland (The illegals ACORN) is undoubtedly itching to get its paws into some federal “refugee” loot—-for the “children.”   See one of our many posts on Casa de Maryland (Sandinistas, El Salvador and the Sanctuary Movement).

The ‘unaccompanied alien minors’ are surely already being brought to “welcoming” Maryland.

From CNN (Hat tip: Jeff).  Emphasis is mine:

(CNN) – After his strong criticism of the Obama administration’s plans to return thousands of young undocumented migrants back to Central America, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley asked a top White House official that the children not be sent to a site that was under consideration in his home state, sources familiar with the conversation said.

“He privately said ‘please don’t send these kids to Western Maryland,'” a Democratic source told CNN. The heated discussion between O’Malley and White House domestic policy adviser Cecilia Munoz occurred during a phone call late Friday evening, sources familiar with the conversation added.

Earlier O’Malley criticized the White House for using the ‘deportation’ word!

A potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2016, O’Malley surprised some in his party when he sharply criticized a White House proposal to give new legal authorities to the Department of Homeland Security to expedite the deportation of the unaccompanied minors and their families.

“We are not a country that should turn children away and send them back to certain death,” O’Malley said last week at a National Governors Association meeting in Nashville.

Instead, the governor urged the administration to show compassion toward the children, describing some of the facilities where the young detainees are being kept as “kennels.”

LOL! Then the Obama Administration picked a potential location in RED Western Maryland to house a number of the illegal aliens and O’Malley had to beg for relief.

Hours after making those remarks, O’Malley expressed concerns to Munoz about a proposal under consideration by the Department of Health and Human Services to convert a former Army Reserve Center in Westminster, Maryland to house the children.

A senior O’Malley administration official confirmed the conversation took place. But the official stressed O’Malley did not reject the idea of temporarily housing some of the children in other parts of the state.

Now, I bet you are wondering how this embarrassing  story about a private phone call between O’Malley and Munoz leaked to CNN.  I’m placing my bets on Valerie Jarrett slapping O’Malley down a peg or two.  Why?  Is she already working on some other Presidential candidate’s campaign?

Just as I finished this, I see there is another good story about the rift and the leak, here at WJLA.

***The contractors (we may have to start adding Baptist Children and Family Services to our list):

So why were Pro-amnesty agitators at Cantor election-night headquarters?

Is that CASA de Maryland we see rioting at Cantor headquarters on election night?

Wouldn’t it make more sense if they had stormed the Brat election-night party?

Our source on the ground suggests they were there because they had anticipated a Cantor victory!

From a Brat supporter:

At least they were honest about what a Cantor victory really meant.

Story at the Washington Post.  Police were called in.  Our post on the stunning Cantor defeat yesterday.

I wonder how much time the Sandinistas (aka CASA) spent in Richmond working on the Cantor campaign?

From at least last fall!

Be sure to see this story (The corruption of Eric Cantor) at Right Side News from September 2013, where Cantor staffers met with Open borders activists (including btw, the Virginia Council of Churches, a refugee contractor):

As the September 4, 2013, Richmond, Virginia TEA Party was holding its rally outside the locked doors of Mr. Cantor’s Richmond offices, Mr. Cantor’s staff, represented at the highest levels, was meeting – privately and very quietly – with far-left groups representing pro-Amnesty, pro-Obamacare and pro-entitlement groups.

These groups included:

*Central American Solidarity Association (CASA): A special interest group in favor of Progressive and Liberal policies promoting the expansion of rights for undocumented (read: illegal) aliens currently residing in the United States.

There is more!  Read it all!

Let this be a lesson to Republicans everywhere.

NAACP, SEIU and CASA de Maryland launch war on American workers and taxpayers tomorrow

Editors note:  This is cross-posted from Potomac Tea Party Report.

The civil rights of American taxpayers and our Nation’s sovereignty will be assaulted tomorrow in the opening salvo of the amnesty battle of 2013 as a cabal of pro-amnesty organizations hold a press conference in Washington (ice storm predicted for tomorrow?)

If you were involved in the successful fight against the Kennedy/McCain/Bush amnesty in 2007, it’s time to go to battle for justice for job-seeking Americans and for taxpayers.

Here is their call to war at CASA de Maryland‘s website, but apparently orchestrated by SEIU:

Press Conference – Jan. 28, 2013 – 11 a.m. EST

Civil, Immigrants and Labor Rights Groups to Issue a Call to Action for Commonsense Immigration Reform

WASHINGTON, DC — Leaders of civil society groups including civil rights and labor leaders will hold a news conference to call on President Obama and Congress to act on commonsense immigration reform in 2013. The news conference will be held as the White House and key legislators prepare to unveil proposals to create a long-term solution to the current immigration crisis. President Obama is expected to outline his immigration policy during the State of the Union Address on February 12, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has made immigration reform the Senate’s top priority this year.

The press conference also will include the announcement of a mobilization campaign across the U.S. to grow support for common sense immigration reform.

Beware Obama/Rubio/Ryan approach.

If you are thinking amnesty only involves those friendly Mexicans at your local McDonalds, think again.  We have hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals on Temporary Protected Status from places like Somalia, Syria and El Salvador to name a few; and people like Honduran criminal Roberto Galo (I wrote about him here), will all be given a shot at US citizenship.  And, don’t forget we have thousands and thousands of visa-overstays from everywhere including Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Libya, Egypt and the list goes on.  They will ALL be lining up to stay permanently and eventually gain citizenship.

See that Galo post also for details on Obama/Rubio/Ryan.  The bottom line is that in this “comprehensive immigration reform” there will be no meaningful border control and once the amnesty is granted for those already here, the spigot will open and the third world will flow across our borders.  There will be no social justice, no peace, for law abiding Americans.

The Left is importing needy people [refugees too!] who will become Democrat voters.

Call your Senators and Representatives in Washington, early and often.  Call Sen. Marco Rubio’s and Rep. Paul Ryan’s offices too!  Tell them NO amnesty and NO deals with an untrustworthy President!   Just because we are weary of this continuous assault (year after year!) on our Nation’s sovereignty that doesn’t mean we give up!  Their goal is to wear us down, that is what the Left does!

For readers of RRW:  As you meet the leaders (not the naive volunteers) of resettlement agencies working in your town or city, you will see that they are mostly Leftists.  The ones that work for “church” contractors are all part of the “religious Left.”  They have a political agenda that goes beyond their humanitarian patina.
