Biden Reaffirms He Would Begin Admission of 125,000 Refugees in 2021

“[We] are hearing the President-elect speak in the language of social justice!”

(Jesuit Refugee Service Director of Advocacy and Operations Giulia McPherson)

He did it yesterday in a recorded message to a leading group that advocates for more refugees for your towns and cities—Jesuit Refugee Service which by the way received $19,478,560 of US taxpayer dollars (grants and contracts) in the last 12 months according to USA Spending.

The Washington DC-based Jesuit Refugee Service USA is one more taxpayer funded ‘non-profit’ that can not survive financially on its own.  The “social justice” group requires a massive infusion of your tax dollars every year in order to survive. In case you are wondering there is no separation of “church and state” when it comes to the US Treasury funding ‘religious’ social justice advocacy groups.

In fact, they are even more awash in your money in the last year than they were in 2019!  See page from their 2019 annual report below***

From Religion News Service yesterday:

Biden pledges to raise refugee ceiling to 125,000 in address to Jesuit group

President-elect Joe Biden announced he will raise the number of refugees allowed into the United States to 125,000 in his first year in office, a major reversal from President Donald Trump’s steep cuts to the U.S. refugee program.

By way of comparison, President Trump set the ceiling for FY2021 at 15,000 and admitted 9,772 in FY20. Under the Refugee Act of 1980, that Biden helped create, the President  is solely responsible for setting the admissions ceiling.

It’s not the first time Biden has made that pledge. He previously floated the number in a statement he made during the summer on World Refugee Day.

But it is the first time he has confirmed that number as president-elect.

And, notably, he made the announcement Thursday (Nov. 12) to a Catholic group that works with refugees.

“The United States has long stood as a beacon of hope for the downtrodden and the oppressed, a leader of resettling refugees in our humanitarian response,” Biden said in a prerecorded video set to air during the virtual event celebrating the 40th anniversary of Jesuit Refugee Service.

“I promise, as president, I will reclaim that proud legacy for our country. The Biden-Harris administration will restore America’s historic role in protecting the vulnerable and defending the rights of refugees everywhere and raising our annual refugee admission target to 125,000.”

[….]

“That he chose to make this announcement with us tonight is an indication that President-elect Joe Biden is following his faith when it comes to American policy to protect and welcome refugees,” Jesuit Refugee Service Director of Advocacy and Operations Giulia McPherson said in a written statement.

“Not only is it exciting that the United States will once again welcome refugees at an historically high number, but it is also significant that we are hearing the President-elect speak in the language of social justice about the rights of refugees and our call as people of faith and as Americans to accompany them to safety.”

Faith-based organizations, like Jesuit Refugee Service, have long played an important role in refugee resettlement work in the U.S.

That is something they could not do without extracting your taxpayer dollars to do it because there isn’t enough support in the form of real private charity for what they do—help change America by changing the people.

***From JRS USA’s annual report for 2019. (BTW, they are exempt from reporting the details of their finances because as a “religious” group they are exempt from reporting to the IRS!)

Wow! I wasn’t expecting to see that high a percentage of federal funding—63% involuntarily from you!

As I said here last week, there are over 27,000 Muslim refugees in the pipeline waiting for Biden to say the word!

Millions in Africa and Asia Assume Biden/Harris Will Open America’s Gates

“People here have been very engaged in the election results. There has been a lot of conversations about Biden and people are very optimistic now. I don’t think he will be racist like Trump.”

(Abdi, a Somali living safely in Kenya)

From Kakuma to a town near you!

Yup, they are chomping at the bit to get to Anytown, USA as soon as they can!

Muslim Somalis and Rohingya voice their enthusiasm and expectations here at Reuters:

From Asia to Africa, refugees hope Biden win could help rebuild lives

Joe Biden’s U.S. presidential election win [not so fast!—ed] has raised hopes of resettlement for refugees from Asia to Africa, many in countries where they are denied work and education and have no formal status.

[….]

President-elect Biden is expected to try to reverse much of Trump’s immigration legacy including travel bans on 13 countries that are either majority-Muslim or African nations.

He has also said he would raise the annual ceiling for refugee admissions to 125,000, but has not indicated how quickly that would happen.

Danielle Grigsby, Refugee Council USA’s Director of Policy and Practice, said there were many reasons to be optimistic about more progressive refugee and immigration policies under the Biden-Harris government.

“There has been a lot of early signals on from the Biden-Harris team to get rid of some of the totally unnecessary hurdles that have been put in place to intentionally slow refugees from coming to the U.S.,” said Grigsby.

[….]

In Sub-Saharan Africa, home to more than one in four of the world’s 80 million refugees and displaced people, tens of thousands of people have had their applications for resettlement suspended since Trump took office in 2017.

[….]

U.N. data shows 2,636 Somali refugees have so far been resettled in the United States under the present administration against the 32,068 Somali refugees accepted under the second term of former President Barack Obama.

[….]

People here have been very engaged in the election results. There has been a lot of conversations about Biden and people are very optimistic now. I don’t think he will be racist like Trump,” he said by phone.

Not just Somalis itching to get here, but expectations have been raised among Rohingya in Bangladesh ….

Rohingya Muslims waiting in Bangladesh for a Biden ticket to America.

Sharifah Shakirah, a Rohingya former refugee who moved to Texas after 21 years in Malaysia, said resettlement was the best solution for the nearly a million members of her ethnic group living in Bangladesh after fleeing persecution in Myanmar.  [Bangladesh is a safe Muslim country.—ed]

“One million Rohingya in Bangladesh have no livelihood, no security, no education,” she said. “They cannot live there for another 10 years. They need a solution and resettlement is one of the solutions.”

Once again, Bangladesh is a safe Muslim country.  Just being poor isn’t sufficient to be declared a legitimate refugee under international law.

More here at Reuters.

I have been following the Rohingya migration for more than a decade so if you are interested in learning more about the issue see my Rohingya Reports archive with 243 previous posts.

When the Chinese virus began spreading around the world the international press, the UN, and international NGOs used the Rohingya as an example of poor refugees that, due to their living conditions, would be ravaged by the virus. It never happened. No virus “wildfire” in the Rohingya camps or the African camps either.  Hmmmm?

Muslims Tell Biden/Harris: We Want “In”

Saying they brought out scads and scads of voters in key swing states for Joe and Kamala, Muslim leaders now say they want a significant place in any Biden administration (assuming there is one).

Joe reaches out and now he is expected to deliver….

From the LA Times:

Muslim voters want more than ‘just a seat’ at the table from President-elect Joe Biden

In an election year defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, economic uncertainty and calls for social justice, a record number of Muslims have mailed in their ballots and headed to the polls, continuing a surge in voter registration and political engagement seen after President Trump took office in 2016, according to Emgage, a national get-out-the-vote group that focuses on Muslims. Emgage Action, an arm of Emgage, endorsed and supported President-elect Joe Biden.

[….]

Muslim organizers say that voters have often felt ignored by presidential candidates on both sides of the aisle, with the exception of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ two presidential campaigns. They expect thoughtful engagement on key issues and inclusion from the next administration, including considering Muslims for Cabinet- and upper-level positions.

[….]

Many were encouraged when Biden, as the Democratic nominee, engaged with voters as part of Emgage’s Million Muslim Votes plan, pledged to end the Trump administration’s travel ban on several Muslim-majority nations and promised to fill the position of Muslim American liaison in the White House Office of Public Engagement.

“The idea is that Muslims will be included in a Biden-Harris administration,” Deen, 41, said. “I am somewhere between cautiously optimistic and doubtful.”  [Doubtful? Thought they were sure Joe was their man.—ed]

[….]

We want more Muslim refugees admitted to the US (more voters for next time!) CAIR-LA Director Hussam Ayloush pictured with Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

For years, Muslim voters have watched as President Trump campaigned across the country, declaring that “Islam hates us” and calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” His administration passed a travel ban on Muslim-majority nations in 2017 and has repeatedly cut the cap for refugee admissions at a time when many Middle Eastern refugees are seeking U.S. asylum.

[….]

The Muslim community also would like to see the Biden administration change refugee limits to allow more people into the country after the U.S. reached a historic low under Trump, said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of CAIR’s Greater Los Angeles office — something that he hopes Muslim Americans themselves will be involved with as part of Biden’s team.

“We are definitely expecting a presence at a more senior level, and more serious engagement,” he said.

Then the Muslims interviewed go on to complain about the Homeland Security Department’s “countering violent extremism” program without ever mentioning that it was birthed in the Obama/Biden administration.

12,924 Somalis and 14,084 Syrians Already in Pipeline to Enter US If Biden Inaugurated

“Biden could immediately raise the refugee admissions goal for the coming year.”

(Sarah Seniuk, advocacy and communications manager at the Refugee Council USA)

Salivating right out in the open, the refugee contractors lobbying arm tells Voice of America in a post election story that Biden will lift Muslim ban and over 27,000 refugees from countries that hate us are actually in a pipeline ready to move to the United States.

Voice of America:

US Cuts Refugee Admissions, Creating Doubt for Tens of Thousands of Applicants

After reporting on the historically low number of refugees that the Trump Administration has admitted to the US and the low number set for this fiscal year (FY2021) that began October first, we hear this:

The new ceiling (15,000), down from 18,000 the previous fiscal year and far lower than the 84,000 refugees admitted in 2016, will remain in effect at least until January and possibly beyond, even if there is a transition at the White House. [Keep reading—ed]

Humanitarian organizations told VOA the number of Syrian, Somali and Yemeni refugees already referred for resettlement in the U.S. was almost double the number established by the cap.

More Ilhan Omars coming our way!

As of October 27, nonprofit groups confirmed that 27,023 individuals were in the “pipeline” for resettlement in the United States, pending security checks.

The breakdown among the countries was 12,924 from Somalia, 14,084 from Syria and 15 people from Yemen, according to two humanitarian organizations.

Then this….

The duration of the notice (Fy2021 Presidential determination) could depend on who occupies the White House in January.

https://www.eckerd.edu/ancient-studies/

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden vowed during the campaign to raise the refugee admissions ceiling to 125,000.

Sarah Seniuk, advocacy and communications manager at the Refugee Council USA, said Biden could “immediately raise the refugee admissions goal for the coming year. In preparing to leave office, [President Barack] Obama had set for [fiscal] 2017 at 110,000, and upon his inauguration, [President Donald] Trump lowered the number down to 45,000.”

More here.

We reported way back in June that Biden has promised to raise the refugee admissions ceiling to 125,000 if elected President.  That annual number beats anything Obama ever did.

Trump Adviser Miller: Trump will Tighten Immigration Further Over Next Four Years

Trump wants to protect the American worker first and foremost!

That is the gist of the news from an Epoch Times piece published a couple of days ago.  (Hat tip: Judy)

Trump to Tighten Immigration, Entry Standards if Reelected, Senior Adviser Says

President Donald Trump’s administration, if he is reelected, will toughen its stance on immigration and entry into the United States with the aim of protecting the wages and safety of Americans, a senior adviser to the president told NBC News in an interview on Oct. 29.

Stephen Miller, who noted that his remarks were being made only in his capacity as campaign adviser, said Trump’s second-term immigration agenda would involve “raising and enhancing the standard for entry” into the United States and cracking down on illegal immigration, including by tighter restrictions on work visas, stricter visa application screenings, banning “sanctuary cities,” and limiting the number of people granted asylum.

He said the measures would be accomplished through a combination of executive actions and legislation.

“In many cases, fixing these problems and restoring some semblance of sanity to our immigration programs does involve regulatory reform,” Miller said. “Congress has delegated a lot of authority … and that underscores the depth of the choice facing the American people.”

More here.

Then I got a chuckle out of this story at the South Seattle Emerald, published yesterday:

It is all about how Stephen Miller is a racist hatemonger. Citing a book published in August entitled, Hatemonger: Stephen Miller, Donald Trump, and the White Nationalist Agenda’, we learn all about how racists/white nationalists are created.

‘HATEMONGER’ EXAMINES STEPHEN MILLER, THE EXTREMIST AT THE HEART OF TRUMP’S WHITE HOUSE

As the COVID-19 pandemic raged through the world in the spring, Trump’s senior advisor Stephen Miller saw it as a unique opportunity to implement his extreme anti-immigrant policies, according to investigative journalist Jean Guerrero, whose new book,Hatemonger: Stephen Miller, Donald Trump, and the White Nationalist Agenda, was published in August.

COVID-19 allowed Trump and Miller to fulfill their dream of closing the U.S. Mexico border to asylum seekers; before the pandemic, federal asylum law made this impossible. They could now suspend refugee resettlement and the processing of green cards, slowing legal immigration under the guise of protecting American jobs.

[….]

Drawing on documents and over 150 interviews, Guerrero’s book covers Miller’s upbringing and his rise through right-wing media and into the White House, becoming Trump’s trusted advisor.

Miller hasn’t yet achieved his wish list on immigration policy. But as Guerrero explores in Hatemonger, it aligns alarmingly with that of white nationalists.

Now here is my favorite part:

In high school, Miller was mentored by conservative radio host Larry Elder and right-wing extremist David Horowitz. Drawn into Horowitz’s worldview, Miller “saw this country as a white-forged masterpiece, unfairly demonized by brown hordes,” Guerrero writes.

So we are told that Miller was mentored by a white nationalist named Larry Elder!  Did Guerrero think her readers are too dumb and might not have a look at a picture of Elder?

All I can say is the Open Borders Marxists are scared to death!  Four more years of Trump and Miller will make their heads explode.  Fingers crossed!
