The building was demolished within days so many feel there was not adequate time to investigate the cause of the explosion and fire.

Documents already obtained by Judicial Watch raise serious questions about source of explosion, cursory local investigation, barring of ATF agents from investigating

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Justice (DOJ) to obtain records regarding its response to the January 1, 2014, explosion of an apartment building in the largely Muslim Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FOIA lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia (Judicial Watch v U. S. Department of Justice (No.1:14-cv-02212)).

The FOIA lawsuit, filed after the DOJ failed to respond to a March 12, 2014, FOIA request to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), seeks:

Any and all records regarding, concerning or related to the investigation of the January 1, 2014 explosion and fire at the Cedar-Riverside apartment complex in Minneapolis, Minnesota, based on searches of the FBI’s Electronic Case File system, Central Records System and Electronic Surveillance records, as well as any cross-referenced files concerning the explosion and fire.

At 8:16 a.m. on New Year’s Day in Minneapolis, a building at 516 Cedar Avenue containing a grocery store and several apartments exploded, killing three people and injuring 13. All of the apartments were occupied by single men. Many were hurt while jumping out of the burning building’s windows in order to escape the carnage.

NYT: From Minneapolis to ISIS, a refugee’s path to jihad

Well, that is not exactly the New York Times Sunday headline, but close.  What they left out of the lengthy story was the ‘R’ word—Refugee.   Most media outlets have gradually (over the seven years we have been observing the issue) begun to use the right word when it fits—not just “immigrants,” but refugees we welcomed to America.  Apparently the New York Times is not yet able to say it.

The extremely large number of Somalis in Minnesota are virtually all refugees or the children of refugees brought there over the last 3 decades*** by three US State Department refugee resettlement contractors:  Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services, and World Relief (re-named Arrive Ministries) which is a supposedly ‘Evangelical’ charity.

But they aren’t charities in the way new readers might think they are.  They masquerade as Christian charities, but work for the federal government.

We recently researched the databases and reported that Minnesota has received over 10,000 Somalis in ten years thanks to the federal government and its contractors.  They were dispersed to over 60 towns and cities!   This past week Somali students in St. Cloud protested claiming they are discriminated against at a local high school (just the beginning?).

So, back to the NYT which featured Abdi Nur a Minneapolis refugee who said, ‘s**** the good life, I’m going to be a jihadist.’   His saga and his family’s tale didn’t interest me.  A couple of things did.

Note the manual that ISIS uses to help recruits get to the Middle East—see the word HIJRA (it means migration to advance the Islamic state or the caliphate) and that is what they are doing to America as well. 

What happens when ISIS tells these newbies, stay right where you are, you can advance our cause much more effectively by waging jihad in Minneapolis?  Or, what happens when the feds get very good at stopping the jihadist wannabees from leaving the country and out of frustration they find a means of advancing their Islamic agenda at home?

One other thing that interested me was the graph showing how most of the ISIS recruits from America were from immigrant families.

When Omar Jamal (I call him the Somali Jesse Jackson) gets quoted I know we have some lazy reporting happening! 

So his arrival in this NYT story interested me too:

I’ve been writing about the Somali mouthpiece since 2007.   He really showed himself in 2008 when a Somali was found dead in a hotel in Denver not far from the location of the Democratic National Convention with enough cyanide in his room to kill hundreds.  Jamal convinced authorities there was nothing to see, move along, just a dead nutty Canadian Somali.

Omar Jamal’s usual schtick is to say the family is devastated, they had no idea, they are good Americans (or good Canadians).  How could this happen?

By the way, we were able to discover years ago that Jamal entered the US illegally, was convicted of immigration fraud, but was never deported. Did the feds give him some special role?

The news comes from the Somali capital of America—Minneapolis!  And, LOL! one of three cities that the Obama Administration touts as an example of how Muslims are happily settled in!

Mall of America officials increased security on Saturday after a terror group linked to al-Qaida released an online video that appears to call for an attack on the popular shopping destination.

Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab specifically named the Mall of America, the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta and London’s Oxford Street in the more than hourlong video that was being circulated on Twitter.

Federal law enforcement officials told CBS News that they are investigating the video.

Mall of America officials released a statement Saturday saying that they were aware of the video that mentions the megamall and shows an image of it and its GPS coordinates.

“We will continue to monitor events with the help of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies,” according to the statement.

The video posted Saturday shows six minutes of graphic images celebrating the Westgate Mall attack. Near the end of the video, a masked man wearing a camouflage jacket appears on screen.

“If just a handful of mujahedeen fighters could bring Kenya to a complete standstill for nearly a week then imagine what a dedicated mujahedeen in the West could do to the American or Jewish-owned shopping centers across the world?” he asks.

Come on mainstream media—you are fixating now on the Syrian Muslims who might come to the US—but never focus on the number of Somalis we are admitting every single month!

Look at the numbers!    Here is our post which chronicles the over 100,000 Somalis we have admitted as refugees to your towns and cities. Then be sure to see that in 2008, the State Department uncovered widespread fraud in Somali family reunification (P-3 program)—thousands, possibly 20,000 Somalis, got into the US by lying on refugee applications.

And, then see that in FY2014 we admitted 9,000 additional Somalis to the US.   This is huge pool of potential jihadists!

In the first 4 months of FY2015 we admitted 3,536 new Somali refugees to America!  That is 884 a month!  If that large stream continues it will put us at over 10,000 Somalis in FY2015!

Al-Shabaab must feel confident that they have operatives in the US Somali community.

An after thought!  Don’t you think the timing of this video release is interesting—right after the Obama/Biden ‘hug a Muslim’ conference.  It is almost as if the terrorists are making fun of the O-man!

Minneapolis: Basketball will keep Somali youths away from the Jihadists

Thanks to Cathy for sending it, but I’ll let you read it yourself at MyFox9.com.  When taxpayers are expected to come up with grant money for yet another “program” to keep Muslim kids busy and supposedly away from the Islamic imperative to join the Jihad, it is not only the $$$ that concerns me, it is that the message becomes it is all America’s fault.  If they go off to fight with Al-shabaab or ISIS it is because we don’t give them enough stuff!

It is never about the indoctrination going on in the neighborhood mosques—no never!

State Department downplays Somali refugee concerns about new banking restrictions

I’ve been meaning to at least report on the latest round of angst over restrictions on sending American money from the Somali ‘community’ here to Somalia.  Of course the banks are worried that the dollars (that probably came through various US welfare programs) will end up in the hands of terrorists.

State Department Spokeswoman Psaki (of the beaded necklaces): no big deal that they can’t send cash to Somalia.

So, here is a report from Foreign Policy summing up where things stand now.  As expected, Rep. Keith Ellison is going to bat for his Minnesota Somali constituents.

Remember readers that the remittance practice is a big deal and is an important driver for migrants of all sorts to get here—those Central American governments, happy to see their ‘children’ go to America, are driven by the desire for the cold hard cash that the migrants send home.  The cash thus leaves the US economy.

Foreign Policy:

Many companies that send money from immigrants in the United States to friends and family in Somalia shut down this week, but the State Department doesn’t see any need for an emergency response.

State spokeswoman Jen Psaki downplayed the impact that a cutoff of remittances could have on millions of Somalis who the U.N. says depend on the money for basic survival. It would be a “stretch,” Psaki said Wednesday, to connect remittances to economic opportunity in Somalia.

Psaki said the U.S. government had “engaged in ongoing communication with the Somali community in the United States and financial institutions serving that community” in an effort to effectively regulate remittances and keep them from financing terrorism.

At issue is the fallout from a decision by the main bank facilitating international wire transfers to Somalia to close the accounts used to hold and then send the money. Merchants Bank of California, which handled 60 to 80 percent of those funds, closed all Somali accounts on Friday, as Foreign Policy was the first to report. The closure was a result of regulatory pressure on banks to verify where the money is going to make sure it isn’t funding terrorism, which is hard to do in Somalia because the country doesn’t have a central bank or formal banking system.

Oxfam, the humanitarian organization, responded to Psaki’s comment by pointing out that Somalia receives $1.3 billion in remittances every year, which is more than the country gets in aid or foreign investment.

“It is critical that the Department of State recognize the catastrophic consequences that the current disruption in remittances will have in Somalia,” Scott Paul, a senior advisor for Oxfam America, said in an emailed statement.

For the many new readers who joined us yesterday, we have resettled over 100,000 Somali refugees to the US in the last couple of decades, here.  Minneapolis is ground zero because of the refugee contractors operating there which include:  Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Service, and the evangelicals, World Relief (new name is Arrive Ministries), here.  The original attraction of Minnesota was its generous welfare system.

The US State Department and its contractors brought in 9,000 new Somalis to America in 2014 and are on target for 10,000 this year.  They will be distributed around the country.
