WND reports on Somali Jihad recruitment in “Little Mogadishu” Minnesota

As I mentioned the other day, we probably have at least 500 posts here at RRW on the Somali migration to America, and surely a hundred or more on the ‘Somali youths’ we welcomed to our cities who have said, s**** the good life, we are Jihadists. (See ISIS fighters just yesterday, here.)

Important to remember!  Almost all Somalis (or their parents) now in the US got here through our LEGAL immigration programs, largely through the US State Department’s Refugee Resettlement initiative (State Dept takes refugees that the UN tells them to take).  Smaller numbers are here because they came illegally or over-stayed visas and were granted asylum and others got in and then were afforded the benefits of another legal program—Temporary Protected Status.  It is impossible to know how many are here illegally, but we do know Somalis have been apprehended at our southern border (how many others got through?).

Even as President Obama launched air strikes Tuesday against the al-Shabab terrorist group in Somalia, a pipeline for potential new Somali terrorists continues to fester right here in the United States.

It’s called the Refugee Resettlement Program, and it continues unabated under the leadership of the U.S. State Department and with the help of several Christian charities.

Minneapolis, Minnesota, sits at the heart of the controversial program. Known as “Little Mogadishu” to some critics, the city has since 1983 welcomed thousands of Somali refugees, most of whom are practicing Muslims and attend a local mosque or Islamic center.

While the Minneapolis-St. Paul area plays host to the largest Somali refugee population, it’s not the only American city that is taking in refugees from the war-torn African nation. Columbus, Ohio, and San Diego, California, have also served as refugee resettlement hot spots.

The State Department, working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, chooses the communities largely because they are viewed as welcoming of foreign refugees and also because they have well-developed social welfare programs.

“Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief, which is an evangelical group, resettled them there because the welfare is so good in Minnesota. That was the main reason,” says Ann Corcoran, an activist who has written hundreds of articles about the Somali resettlement program for Refugee Resettlement Watch. “That’s also the case with Maine. A lot of the Somalis are going there for the same reason.”

The Christian charities have worked quietly behind the scenes, using millions of dollars in federal grants, to resettle the refugees in the chosen cities.

This poor “vunerable kid” (who died in Syria) with limited opportunities apparently grew up here in America, was 29-years-old and had plenty of opportunity to find himself a whole bunch of wives to produce nine children!

And, if there aren’t enough jobs then STOP bringing more Somalis!***

More details about the second Minnesota man who is believed to have died fighting in Syria with the terror group ISIS are emerging, and Twin Cities leaders say his story is an example of a big obstacle for the Somali community.

Those who knew Abdirahmaan Muhumed describe him as an outgoing, gregarious man who was involved in the local politics of the Twin Cities Somali community; however, he was also an angry and frustrated father trying to support 9 children from several different mothers. He did not have a job, and local leaders say that may have led him to seek a different life away from the city of Minneapolis, where he grew up.

Omar Jamal is on the case!

Here comes “community organizer” Omar (the Somali mouthpiece) Jamal to tell us that Muhumed’s radicalization has nothing to do with Islam!   For new readers, we have dozens of posts going back to probably 2008 in which Jamal (an illegal alien originally) jumps in with his two cents worth any time any Somali gets in trouble anywhere in America!  (Search RRW for ‘Omar Jamal’ and see what I mean!).

At one point, Jamal moved on up and became Somalia’s representative at the UN (Is he a US citizen or a citizen of Somalia?).  Wonder what happened to that gig?

They are all “vulnerable” you know!

Somali community organizer Omar Jamal told Fox 9 News that Muhumed’s death brings back painful memories of the young men who disappeared from the Twin Cities and turned up fighting for al-Shabaab in Somalia a few years ago. According to Jamal, ISIS appears to be using the same playbook — recruiting vulnerable young people using videos and social media. So far, he says community leaders haven’t come up with a long-term strategy to compete.

“You have the same combination of vulnerable kids susceptible to crazy ideas, dissolution, giving up hope on achieving the American Dream,” Jamal said. “What’s the alternative to fight against these people? We have to come together and do something about this.”

We can do something if they have given up on the American Dream, let them do their dreaming in Africa!

…..and the Lutherans are helping make it happen!

Maybe you’ve seen this news, it all happened earlier this summer.

Just last Friday, we gave you an update from Syracuse where another Catholic Church became a mosque and it makes me wonder—in how many cities is this happening?

On Saturday, July 12, I sat down to talk with Feisal Elmi, a representative of the Darul Uloom Islamic Center, the new owner of the buildings on East 5th Street previously occupied by St. John’s Catholic Church and school.

As a former Catholic, I didn’t know much about Islam, so Feisal began with the basics.

After the basics of Islam are discussed:

The center’s goal is to be a catalyst for the growth of small business in the community, and its leaders see East 7th Street as a prime location for Somali stores and restaurants, akin to the Karmel Mall in South Minneapolis.

Somali refugees are still arriving from that war-torn country. Feisal told me that the first wave of Somali immigrants to Minnesota were refugees, but tended to be from the wealthier strata of Somali society, while the most recent ones are in more desperate circumstances. A couple of generations ago, many of them were Ethiopians who fled to Somalia; now, they are seeking to escape the strife in Somalia. The former rectory at St. John’s is housing some of these new arrivals, and the center will provide assistance in finding them permanent housing***. As with many mass inflows of refugees, they are sponsored by religious agencies (in this case, Lutheran Social Services), and must qualify for refugee status under federal law.

An Islamic center is something new in our neighborhood, but it wasn’t all that long ago that the St. John’s campus was the religious home of newly-arrived Irish immigrants, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church that of the German Catholics. If there’s one constant about the East Side, it’s that it’s always changing.

***It sounds like this Somali Center has become a refugee subcontractor, if the reporter has this right.

Minnesota report: unvaccinated Somali child was “Patient Zero” in 2011 measles outbreak

A new report investigating a recent measles outbreak in Minnesota offers a new window into how the disease can be spread by just one unvaccinated person.

Here’s how the 2011 outbreak, which sickened 19 children and two adults in Minnesota, happened:

An unvaccinated Somali-American 2-year-old some have dubbed “Patient Zero” traveled with his parents to Kenya, where he contracted the measles virus.

When the family returned to Minnesota, the child showed symptoms, including a fever, cough and vomiting.

But before he was diagnosed as having measles, the child had already passed the virus on to three other children at his daycare center, and another household member, CBS News reports.

Ultimately, more than 3,000 people in in the tight-knit Twin Cities Somali community were exposed to the disease.

Minnesota Department of Health researchers say that is typical in the Somali immigrant community, where MMR vaccination rates remain low, CBS News reports.

In 2004, the number of Somali children in the state who were on schedule with their MMR topped 90 percent.

“By 2010, that was down to just 54 percent,” epidemiologist Pam Gahr, who led the new research, told CBS.

She says the steep drop in vaccinations stems from misinformation about a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

Somali voter fraud alleged in Minnesota House race

Absentee voting started Friday, six weeks ahead of primary elections. Already there are strong allegations of voter fraud.

The attorney for Phyllis Kahn says he got word Thursday night; there might be hundreds of people who are registering and voting using an address that’s not their home.

Absentee voting kicked-off Friday morning in a hotly contested democratic primary race for the state house between incumbent Phyllis Kahn and Mohamud Noor.

Brian Rice, attorney for the Phyllis Kahn Volunteer Committee, claims there’s voter fraud.

“I think there is a coordinated effort to use this address to bring voters into the DFL primary election on August 12, that’s what I think is going on,” Rice said. “It’s wrong, it violates Minnesota Law, it’s a crime.”

According to voter registration records from the Secretary of State’s office and the DFL Voter Activation Network more than 140 people used 419 Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis as their home address, when they registered to vote.

The address is for what’s called Cedar Mailbox Center. The building manager and mail center’s employees weren’t comfortable speaking on camera, but they said they were surprised by the allegations.

They say nobody put the wrong address on purpose. For 13 years, many Somali-Americans from all across the state have been getting their mail there. They say nobody lives there.

This is the same Leftie political campaign/squabble that ended in fisticuffs back in February and the police had to be called in.

Thank the US State Department and three federal contractors— Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities, and World Relief Minnesota—attracted to the state by generous welfare goodies gratis Minnesota taxpayers.  And, I would bet a buck that Phyliss Kahn and the DFL have been cheering the flood of Muslim migrants to the state for decades.

That reminds me, I wonder if Minnesota will be “welcoming” the unaccompanied minors from south of the border?  Do you live in Minnesota?  If so, call your state refugee coordinator and ask if the “kids are coming?”  Here is the list of all state refugee coordinators.
