Friday round-up: July 2014 best month ever for RRW!

Refugee Resettlement Watch was launched in July 2007 (see ‘about’ if you have never read it) and this July we recorded our best month in all of those seven years as the issue of phony refugees (unaccompanied alien children) has galvanized the public’s attention on the whole refugee program of the US government.

There is a silver lining in the recent border crisis!  Finally lots of researchers and writers (and a few real reporters!) are digging into the finances and the political goals of the “charitable organizations” driving the open borders movement.  More researchers and more bloggers are needed, however!

Our readership increased by almost 100% since May.

If you haven’t noticed our daily Top Posts in the right hand sidebar, the top three with the most readers, for this week, are:

Will the federal government resettle hundreds of Congolese refugees in Dover, NH?

Refugee Resettlement Fact Sheet

Senator Jeff Sessions: Melt Congressional phone lines on Monday!

Top ten countries this week, and apologies again to readers from around the world that we haven’t been writing enough about your ‘refugee’ problems and illegal alien invasions since so much is happening with ours.  Of course, most of our readers come from the US, but here (below) are the top ten countries from which we hosted readers (in descending order) this past week.

The top three are usually the same; new in the top ten this week are Malta, India and Sweden.  (See last week’s round-up here.)

UK

Canada

Australia

Germany (#6 last week)

Thailand (#7 last week)

Malta

South Africa (#5 last week)

France (#9 last week)

India

Sweden

If you are a new reader (we have a lot this week!), consider subscribing or follow us on twitter (@refugeewatcher) or facebook (RefugeeInfoResource).  ‘Like us’ on facebook!

And apologies to all who e-mail and comment, sorry if I don’t respond much, there are just not enough hours in my day!

It occurs to me that I do see everyone’s comments to posts because we do screen them (no foul language, no threats), so if you have something you want me to see, I don’t at all mind if you send the link as a comment to a post, even if it’s a little off-topic.

P.S. to critics:  This is a charitable enterprise on my part, let’s just call it an ‘act of love’ to spend hours every day informing average taxpaying American citizens about the migrant tide (much of it LEGAL) flooding our towns and cities through a morass of government programs dressed up to look like ‘religious charity.’

Bottom line! You have a right to know what they plan for your community!

Friday round-up: Top posts, top countries

Since I don’t know how many readers have a look at our Top Posts every day in the right hand sidebar, thought maybe I would, at the end of each week, give a brief summary of what readers were most interested in over the previous seven days.

Here are the top three this week:

Athens, GA:  Do you know you will soon be receiving hundreds of third-worlders?

Tennesseans urging US Senators to block possible border surge to Tennessee

Refugee Resettlement Fact Sheet

Of course the lion’s share of our readers come from the US, but here are the top ten countries from which readers came to RRW in the past seven days (although there were about another 140 countries on the list).  In descending order:

United Kingdom

Canada

Australia

Hong Kong

South Africa

Germany

Thailand

Afghanistan

France

Pakistan

It is only July 25th, but already this month we have broken all records for readership and we are recording the largest number of  readers here in our seven-year history.

Email address change

I can’t take it anymore!  The Yahoo address we had as our contact in the right side bar has been killed (by me!).  It was so full of junk mail I could barely look at it.   Then today as I tried answering some of your wonderful e-mails nothing would send from Yahoo.

So now we have a new address, please make a note!

RefugeeWatcher@gmail.com

If you have Ann’s aol address you may continue to use that.

Again, sorry to have missed so many of your tips, your kind words and your questions.  I promise to try harder to keep up with everybody from now on!

Today I especially wanted to thank Sandra for her e-mail!  She said she offered to take Wyoming Governor Matt Mead on a tour of the Somali and Iraqi neighborhoods of San Diego!  Way to go!

P.S.  If you have a possible story for us, put the words NEWS TIP into your subject line and I might see it sooner.   I really need a secretary!

RRW Progress report for October

A few months ago we set a goal to attract 30 new followers in a month (an appropriate goal for a narrowly focused blog).  I’m happy to report that for the month of October we added 67 followers as subscribers and facebook followers.

Just a reminder, we are on facebook (Refugee Info Resource) and much to my great surprise are reaching thousands with some of our posts.  Many posts get 100 or 200 views but, here are some that must have gone around the world in the last few weeks (all posted in October):

4,794 viewed Somalis in South Africa

8,044 viewed UN wants to move 30,000 Syrians to the West

4,604 viewed First Congolese arrive in Lancaster, PA

and 6,504 viewed UK Mirror story about Turkish gangs moving Syrians into Europe.

‘Like’ us on Facebook here!  And, send our posts to your facebook friends!

We are also on twitter!  Here at AnnC@RefugeeWatcher.

If you don’t want to miss a post, you have three options to receive notification:  in your e-mail inbox as a subscriber (see upper left corner of this page), on facebook, or on twitter!

A reminder for readers, we have a lot of material here at RRW

I always find it interesting to see the Top Posts at RRW each day, and you might too.  As was the case yesterday, an older post was attracting the most attention—the one on MERS at Mecca, here.

The second most popular post in the last few days is the one on the UN dropping more hints that the West will be pressured into taking Syrian refugees, here.  And, then the report on food stamp fraud is the third most visited post.  See our right hand side bar for the complete list (which may have changed by the time you read this!).

Linked on our header above is our newly updated fact sheet which almost daily makes the top most-read posts.

Readers might also want to take note of our categories especially the one entitled, Where to find information, it is full of posts on where documents may be found, statistics on refugees and immigrants generally, and reports on programs, their costs and who is running the show.

And, as I have mentioned previously, our search function is a good one.  Just type in a couple of key words—Buffalo NY refugees, for example—and everything we have written using those words will come up.  I use it all the time because, after nearly 5,000 posts in 6 years, it’s sometimes hard to remember what we have written!

Another statistic of interest to me, but one you can’t see, is the search terms people use to find RRW.  Yesterday the list was topped by people searching for Somalis Minneapolis, Somalis St. Cloud, and Somalis North Dakota.

We have readers from all over the world.  Of course the US tops the list but is followed by these countries making up the top ten in the last 30 days:  Australia, UK, Canada, Malta, Germany, Denmark, South Africa, India, and Thailand.

RRW is on facebook, here (although I am terrible about going there) and on twitter (AnnC@refugeewatcher).  Help us get more followers!

Thanks for visiting RRW!
