The Michigan ‘pocket of resistance’ has put out this action alert for their members.
Please use it as a model for your state as we enter this critical week in Congress. They must hear from you! (I’m told kudos to the Georgia resisters for helping craft the alert.)

ACTION ALERT: DEMAND CONGRESS STOP FUNDING REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS

In the wake of the horrific terror attacks in San Bernardino and Paris, the FBI said it lacks the funds to stay ahead of the escalating terror threats right here in America. So why would we want to divert any of our tax dollars, which should be directed to reinforcing our nation’s security and intelligence apparatus to protect our families and our nation, to opening the gates to refugees from terror-supporting nations whom we CAN NOT vet and whose ranks ISIS and other terror organizations target to infiltrate?

This Monday (today!) and Tuesday, we must flood the offices of our US Representatives and Senators with calls (US Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121) urging them to vigorously oppose Refugee Resettlement Funding contained in the Omnibus Spending Bill that will be voted on by 12-11-15!

Then make 4 more calls to insist the same:

US Rep. Candice Miller of MI, Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Committee, said:

“I support Governor Snyder’s decision to suspend efforts to relocate Syrian refugees to Michigan, and have cautioned against the Administration’s decision to increase the number being admitted into the U.S. …terrorist organizations like ISIS are looking for any and every opportunity to exploit a nation’s hospitality to carry out their barbaric attacks against the innocent. Anyone who says we can adequately and safely vet these refugees is wrong because there is no database in Syria and no way to identify who’s who.”

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE OF OUR TIME.

If you don’t want unvettable refugees from terror-supporting countries in your neighborhood, you must raise your voices NOW. The immigration industry is a powerful lobby and private resettlement contractors have the authority to send refugees to any town, city, neighborhood or location without public notification and local consent.

We have been telling you over the last week or so (here, here and here) that those (mostly the ‘religious Left’) who want to bring in massive numbers of Muslim migrants and other refugees are pulling out all the stops to pressure Congress (yesterday we learned that even the Quakers are against you). They have never (in 35 years!) been so challenged! You must counter them!
Next week there will be much to do locally and statewide, but this week, you must make this a priority!

Let’s start out Monday morning with a chuckle. This is “Liberal Thinking” at the far Left Daily Kos.
“Liberal” doesn’t think we are too bright, but he/she demonstrates a woeful lack of understanding about how the federal Refugee Admissions Program works, how our federal government is structured, what are the factions in the Syrian civil war; and “Liberal” has forgotten that it is their guy—Barack Hussein Obama—who is commander in chief.
The war “Liberal” says Republicans don’t know how to win is OBAMA’S WAR.

Republican leaders are some of the least humanitarian and cruelest people in the country. But I’ve come to believe they are also some of the thickest. You can see this in the strategic implications of keeping Syrian refugees out of the country.

The refugees are people who’ve been abused by the Syrian government (Asad famously gassed them) and driven away by ISIS and other rebel groups. They are already predisposed to hate those people. Our best strategy would be to scoop up every one we can persuade to come to the U.S. and give them a place to sit out the war. The war will end and eventually they will go back. We have an enormous opportunity to affect Syrian society after they return.

So, it isn’t just humanitarian to accept the refugees. It’s also smart national security policy.
There are perhaps two million refugees we could bring to the United States. This is possibly 20% of the Syrian population. What will these people believe when they return to Syria?

We could spend a moderate amount of effort teaching them how to run a secular society. We should help them learn how we view human rights and due process. We should help them set up public institutions they can take back with them. [And, the kids at Kos are going to teach Sunni Muslims this?—ed]

There are more suggestions of things we could teach them, including how to cope with global warming. Then “Liberal” wraps up with this:

But unfortunately much of our federal government is run by Republicans, who don’t know very much about how to run a government. As I’ve said before, Republicans don’t know money. (They want to privatize Social Security, for example. And they are still promoting trickle-down economics, even after it’s been show to be an abject failure.) But it’s deeper and more disturbing than that. They don’t even know how to win a war.

Vote in the poll!

Now, I want you to go visit the story and vote in the poll at the end! For a blog getting (so they say) hundreds of thousands of hits a day, only 23 have voted so far (as of this writing). Should we bring in all the Syrians who want to come? Surprise! The choice “no, they are too dangerous” is winning by a wide margin.

Lobbying on the Omnibus!
Here they are popping up in Congress this week promoting an amendment to give more taxpayer money for Sryian refugee resettlement to your towns and cities.

Not to be left out of our list of ‘religious’ charities promoting open borders and more Syrian Muslim refugees is the American Friends Service Committee and the Friends Committee on National Legislation. As far as we know they don’t have their greedy fingers in the federal treasury like the nine federal contractors do, but they can be counted on to push for anything the No borders Left wants on immigration.
It’s kind of hard these days to find a church or a synogogue at which to worship that hasn’t been taken over by the Left!
Here AFSC lists this week’s possible vote on the Omnibus Appropriations bill as an action item for good Quakers across America.
And here the Washington Post tells us about the Friends Committee on National Legislation’s role on the Omnibus funding bill as well.
A letter to House Appropriations Committee leaders from Reps. Juan Vargas (D-Calif.), David Cicilline (D-R.I.) and Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) to INCREASE funding for refugee resettlement is being circulated with the help of Jasmine Taeb a lobbyist for FCNL.

The letter asks committee leaders to “substantially increase funds” to help the departments of State, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security process refugee applications and screenings.

“The world is watching how the United States responds to the situation in Syria,” the letter reads. “It is critical that our humanitarian and foreign policy priorities align with how we allocate our budgetary resources.”

A total of 112 members of Congress have signed that letter since the Paris attacks, according to Yasmine Taeb of the Friends Committee on National Legislation, a Quaker group that has been helping circulate the letters.

More here about the various proposals, but I was most interested in the Quakers involvement.
A few years ago (2011) I wrote at some length about the Quakers’ role in the original ‘Sanctuary movement,’ their role in creating CASA de Maryland and how they worked against the state of Israel, here. At that time I learned about how Quakers had played an important part in that disastrous Gaza flotilla incident. And, I bet you thought they were just a bunch of peaceniks!
I was further stunned at the time, that some of us who had organized a Maryland conference including speakers on Islam, were treated to protests outside by a few Muslim activists along with Quaker activists trying to call us Islamophobic and racist.

In that post at Potomac Tea Party Report I linked this spoof of the classic ‘We are the World’ song. The parody is from Latma TV (and from time to time I watch it to boost my spirits!). The Friends (Quakers!) were one anti-Israel group behind the Gaza Flotilla!
And, so now I have an excuse to post it again:

Canada now says it will "welcome" 50,000 Syrians by the end of 2016

They have been all over the place with their numbers especially since they realized they couldn’t get 25,000 relocated to Canadian towns by the end of December (less than 4 weeks from now).

So to make it look like Trudeau’s campaign promise isn’t a bust already they are now throwing around the number 50,000 over the next twelve months. (To get to that number they need to be bringing in around 1,000 a week! Good luck with that security screening!)
And, we better be beefing-up our northern border! (Maybe Donald should start adding that border to his campaign speeches!)

Now here is the mention of 50,000! (the first 300 arrived a few days ago). From The Desert Sun:

As Canada prepares to welcome the first of 25,000 Syrian refugees, the government suggests that number could double over the next year.

“The number of refugees is likely to be in the order of 35,000 to 50,000” by the end of next year, Immigration Minister John McCallum said.

The first “mass flight” of up to 300 refugees from Turkey and Jordan is expected to arrive by chartered aircraft*** on Thursday.

The new Liberal government made a commitment to resettle 25,000 refugees, along with those privately sponsored by churches and families, by the end of February.

Those coming to Canada are undergoing security, immigration and health checks.

The article goes on to tell us that most of the Syrians will come from UN camps, thus they will be nearly 100% Sunni Muslims just as are those entering the US now.
***There have been rumors of chartered flights bringing large numbers of refugees to the US. Surely someone has a photo if this has occurred!

Christie swings back at Obama over women refugees comment

I’m glad someone is pointing this out in a big way—women can be Islamic terrorists too!
My only problem with Christie’s comment is that we (they! not me) are stuck on Syria! While Syrian numbers are still small, every month, we have thousands of refugees, women among them, entering the US from Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and even Burma that could just as well be devout Muslims we can’t trust.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is pointing to this week’s shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., as evidence that female refugees from Syria should not be allowed in the country.

“We now know from San Bernardino, just a couple of days ago, that women are very capable of being involved in terrorist activity,” the GOP presidential candidate said at a forum in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Friday, according to ABC News.

One of the alleged assailants in the attack that left 14 dead and 21 injured Wednesday is Tashfeen Malik, 27, a Pakistani woman who immigrated to the U.S. in 2013 on a K-1 fiancée visa.

Authorities said Malik pledged her support to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as the attack was happening.

“The widow who comes over here from Syria, if aligned with ISIS or another organization, could create just as much death as any man given the weapons that are available now,” Christie said.

President Obama previously mocked Christie’s blanket opposition to allowing Syrian refugees into the country, asking Republican presidential candidates whether they were “scared of widows and orphans.”

The New Jersey governor slammed the president’s criticism in light of the San Bernardino attack.

“I wonder if the president is going to stand up and call me a tough guy today and insult me again,” Christie told radio show host Hugh Hewitt on Friday. “You know, the fact is I know a little bit about this stuff, and the president should open his ears more and open his mouth less.”
