Commentary: Is US Sen. Lamar Alexander vulnerable in Tennessee? Yes! says a reader

Editors note:   In the wake of the stunning loss in Virginia by a squish on immigration—Rep. Eric Cantor—a reader from Tennessee sent us a comment.

Lamar Alexander: the next Eric Cantor beat down!

Anti-amnesty Tennessee state Rep. Joe Carr is challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander in what could be the another Brat-Cantor race. Honest post-election commentary summed up Cantor’s defeat in Virginia as “he was pro amnesty so he lost.”

Sen. Lamar Alexander voted YES, helping to pass the pro-amnesty “Gang of Eight” (S.744), last year even though as Breitbart, reports, Lamar was told less than a month before his YES vote, that a yes vote would create the overwhelming border surge we are facing today:

“On May 29, 2013, less than a month before the Senate would pass its amnesty bill, officials from the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council of the American Federation of Government Employees wrote a letter to senators before the vote on the Senate’s comprehensive amnesty bill, warning them that passing a bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants would be a magnet that attracts more while subjecting illegal immigrant youths to victimization.”

Lamar and others were warned:

“Driven by mere speculation that S. 744 may be enacted by Congress, illegal border crossings have spiked dramatically. Thousands of unaccompanied children, runaways, and families now attempt to illegally enter the United States in hopes of receiving legalization.”

Estimates for illegal minors (unaccompanied alien children, aka UAC), in 2015 are as high as 142,000. In response, the Senate Appropriations Committee on which Lamar serves, voted to give Obama $1.94 billion, to help the administration with the amnesty motivated rush at the border. Ironically, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that amnesty YES votes like Lamar’s which included $39 billion to increase border security will only improve border security by a mere 8%.

Lamar’s YES vote on amnesty is also helping to bring new emergency shelters for hundreds of illegal minors to places like Lawrenceville, Virginia. Angry citizens packed a school auditorium to tell federal officials they didn’t want the disease, government spending and crime that would go along with bringing the illegal immigrants to their community. Gang affiliation has long ceased to be a bar for unaccompanied minors even when they are tatted head-to-toe with MS-13 gang tattoos.

Given the government’s explicit directive to Border Patrol to withhold information from the public, communities must be on alert.

Lamar’s primary challenger, state Rep. Joe Carr has a voting record on illegal immigration that looks nothing like Lamar’s.

Carr was the sponsor of Tennessee’s successful E-verify law and other legislative measures prohibiting taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants and banning sanctuary cities that serve as open invitations to illegal immigration.

Seems like an easy choice. Forget Lamar, VOTE CARR.

Carr’s website by clicking here and help him defeat Alexander.  Early voting begins July 18th so hurry!  See all of our posts on problems with refugees and immigration generally in Tennessee.  See especially this one about turning red states blue.  And, we have an entire category devoted to Nashville (click here), which is home to a well-established ‘pocket of resistance.’

Somali stowaway miracle boy update (soap opera resumed after short interlude)

I don’t even know why they are bothering to publish a story like this one—-boy cries when talking to Mom in Africa (Mom cries too).  Incredible news!

The tearful Mom: I’ll be there soon honey!

See our previous posts here.

So why does the Dad need CAIR to speak for him?

However, we do learn that Mom is still trying to get to the US on an asylum claim.  Miracle boy does not live at home with Dad and wicked step mom.  Miracle boy hopes to live with aunt in Minnesota (yeh, Minnesota here comes one more!)  And, CAIR is speaking for miracle boy’s Dad.

From AP at the Sioux City Journal:

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — A Somali immigrant who survived an arduous flight to Hawaii stowed away in a jet’s wheel well says he was trying to reach his mom, a refugee in Ethiopia who says her teenage son broke down in tears this week during their first call since his ordeal.

Mother Ubah Mohammed Abdule, who is seeking U.S. asylum, told The Associated Press Wednesday her son, who she hasn’t seen in eight years, cried on the phone Tuesday and told her he thought she was dead.

[….]

A family spokeswoman forwarded questions on Wednesday from AP to father Abdilahi Yusuf, a Santa Clara taxi driver, about why his son is not living with him. As with past requests, Yusuf has not responded. The spokeswoman, Zahra Billoo with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, says the family wants to maintain their privacy.

Here we had one teenaged “refugee” who wanted to go back to where he came from, and we won’t even let one go.

And, whatever happened to all of the talk of criminally charging the boy?

Will the “unaccompanied children” be coming to your town? Feds are shopping for sites!

The people of Virginia say NO to Obama bureaucrats last week!

You surely haven’t missed this news, it is popping up everywhere as the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) shops for locations in which to place hundreds of mostly teenaged illegal alien boys (dubbed “asylum seekers” and “refugees”) around the country, rather than returning them to their homes in Central America!

http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/orr/programs/ucs/about#stats

See the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (in HHS) own stats at right.  Most of the “children” are males over 14 years old.

And, you thought this was a problem for Texas and Arizona!

More “pockets of resistance” to refugees?

The first story brought to our attention by several readers is the one from Lawrenceville, Virginia.  Here at Breitbart (emphasis mine):

LAWRENCEVILLE, Virginia—Over 1,000 angry residents of the small, rural town here gathered at Brunswick High School on Thursday and reamed out local, state, and federal government officials for offering the St. Paul’s College building as temporary emergency shelter for 500 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) coming from Texas. St. Paul’s, a historically black college, shut down five years ago after losing its accreditation.

Lawrenceville resident Arron Smith said firmly, “The people here don’t want to ask you any questions. We really don’t want to hear your selling points. We don’t want to hear your politically correct terms. We talk slow around here. We got a little twang, but talk direct. Let me say this to you as I look square in your eyes. We do not want you here.”

[….]

Although the UAC’s were scheduled to arrive on Thursday, the plan was put on hold following a severe backlash from the community. In the meantime, the panel of government officials continued to promise that if Lawrenceville residents did not want the UAC facility in operation, the plan would be scrapped.

New York state?

In a hurry to establish refugee camps, the feds make a boo-boo in New York State, also from The Blaze (hat tip: Erich):

Searching for places to house the “overwhelm[ing]” influx of Mexican and Central American children crossing the U.S. southern border without parents or guardians, government officials scouted out an abandoned hotel in Grand Island, New York on Friday.

Or at least the government thought the hotel was abandoned.

As it turned out, the 263-room Byblos Niagara Resort and Spa was fully booked.

“It looks like there’s been a mistake,” federal agents with the Homeland Security Department and the Border Patrol told the hotel manager, according to the Buffalo News.

[….]

A simple Google search could have saved the agents the trip the the hotel.

What is clear is that the feds were moving quickly, without giving local authorities much notice.

This article also says a location being considered is in Rochester, NY.

Illinois?

No way says Illinois Congressman!  Send them home!  From Illinois Review (hat tip: Cathy):

OLYMPIA FIELDS – Thousands of children from Central America are entering the United States through the nation’s southern border, overburdening local facilities and resources. The crisis has the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the search for lodging facilities elsewhere in the states.

One facility being considered is in Chicago’s far southern suburbs – the quiet community of Olympia Fields.

Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) released a statement Saturday morning announcing this week the HHS will be conducting an inspection of a former monastery at 203rd and Governors Highway to be used to house some of the children that were illegally sent to America unaccompanied by their parents.

Hultgren called for the effort to halt, saying moving the children to Olympia Fields will only make matters worse for the children.

“We should immediately halt this effort. It is an ill-conceived stop gap solution that will only exacerbate the terrible situation for these children,” Hultgren said. “Moving these children further away from the border unnecessarily elongates their legal limbo at orphanage-style federal facilities while they undergo removal proceedings.”

Looking for more “pockets of resistance!”  Send us stories about the Obama Administration scouting your neighborhood for refugee camp sites to house the teenaged illegal aliens!

Got worms? Watch out for pork tapeworms in refugee populations arriving in US!

I don’t know why this alert showed up in my inbox yesterday—it is from the CDC in 2012.  But, what the heck, just for a little change of pace before we get back to more news about the “refugee” invasion on the southern border.

http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/cysticercosis/biology.html

From the CDC (and especially for anyone volunteering to care for newly arrived refugees):

Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a disease caused by central nervous system infection by the larval stage of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium. In developing countries, NCC is a leading cause of adult-onset epilepsy. Case reports of NCC are increasing among refugees resettled to the United States and other nations, but the underlying prevalence among refugee groups is unknown. We tested stored serum samples from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Migrant Serum Bank for antibodies against T. solium cysts by using the enzyme-linked immunoelectrotransfer blot.

Seroprevalence was high among all 4 populations tested: refugees from Burma (23.2%), Lao People’s Democratic Republic (18.3%), Bhutan (22.8%), and Burundi (25.8%). Clinicians caring for refugee populations should suspect NCC in patients with seizure, chronic headache, or unexplained neurologic manifestations. Improved understanding of the prevalence of epilepsy and other associated diseases among refugees could guide recommendations for their evaluation and treatment before, during, and after resettlement.

[….]

The widespread exposure among these groups has clinical and public health implications because these populations are resettling to the United States, where the infection is not endemic and where many clinical providers are not familiar with the disease manifestations, diagnosis, or treatment.

It is a good thing we have Obamacare to pay for all this medical treatment required by refugees carrying parasites!

San Diego refugee, one of 50 sent to Washington to lobby for the Lutherans

We told you here last month that the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) was organizing fifty refugees to go to Washington last week to lobby for more funds (more of your tax dollars) for themselves and their fellow resettlement contractors.***

Poor Sedrick Ntwali probably thinks his quest for your money will be money to help his fellow San Diego refugees, but instead any windfall will go first to the “unaccompanied minors” now called “refugees” and then to fat salaries and nice office digs for the contractors.  And, I sure hope LIRS paid for the trip out of privately raised dollars and not federal grants! (96% of LIRS budget comes from US taxpayers!).

Ntwali went to Washington and I bet you paid for his trip!

‘San Diego Refugee Lobbies Congress For More Resettlement Dollar’, from KPBS:

[Sedrick] Ntwali is in Washington, D.C. this week to ask members of Congress to boost funds for refugees. He’s one of 50 others selected for the trip by the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, a 75-year-old resettlement agency.

Those “unaccompanied kids” are getting all the new money!  (Although remember that LIRS is also contracted to take care of a bunch of the kids and is lobbying for more $$$ for that too!).

This year’s U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement budget included an additional $530 million, increasing its budget to nearly $1.5 billion. But that went to help with a spike in the number of unaccompanied children crossing into the U.S. from Central America. There was little change in resources for the growing number of refugees coming from Burma, or Myanmar, and the recent influx of refugees from Iraq and Iran. Next fiscal year, Congress again is adding funds for child immigrants crossing the border.

Problems in San Diego for refugees, according to Ntwali:

He said there isn’t enough affordable housing and employment resources for refugees in San Diego.

[….]

There’s a lot of agencies here in City Heights that help refugees. But their support is not really enough to give to all refugees that are here. There are three big issues here in San Diego. First of all is housing. They are really having problems finding affordable housing. You’ll see a family of six or seven sleeping in a one- or two-bedroom. Secondly, opportunity; refugees do not have good job opportunities here. And the other issue is integration.  [Lots of problems with resettlement in San Diego, click here for more—ed].

Not enough housing, not enough jobs but no one ever says:  Let’s slow this program down, we can’t take care of all these people!

(Lots of problems with resettlement in San Diego, click here for more)

By the way, another $1 billion goes to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees every year (they pick our refugees!) and the US State Department budget must be approaching $2 billion by now for refugees.
