Several people sent me this story yesterday about another what is believed to be Somali on Somali crime in Minnesota where multiculturalism strengthens communities (yes, that is what we are told, so it must be so!).  I didn’t get around to posting it yesterday, now I’m behind on the story, so, readers, let me know if there is an update today.

Police continue to search for at least two suspects — Police Chief Tim Dolan called them “cold-blooded killers” — in Wednesday night’s shootings of three men at a south Minneapolis grocery store.

At a Thursday morning news conference, Dolan called the suspects dangerous and urged anyone with information about the killings at Seward Market and Halal Meats to come forward.

Police said they don’t know the motive behind the killings but believe it was an apparent failed robbery at a south Minneapolis market.

And, look who we have spinning the news again, why it’s Omar Jamal (who else!).  We first encountered Jamal making sure the media got the right angle two years ago and I’ve called him the Somali Jesse Jackson in the past.  Use our search function for ‘Omar Jamal’ and you will see what I mean!   And, heck, he was supposed to be working at the UN by now, what’s up with that?

“This is very, very tragic, and beyond my comprehension that there’s this level of violence in the community,” said Omar Jamal, a community activist who has overseen the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in St. Paul.

“We don’t know what to make out of it,” he said. “Somehow, if it involved gangs, then people could somewhat understand this. But it now looks like … law-abiding Somali citizens are falling victim to this violence. … Makes me feel like no one is safe out there. … This is completely out of character for the community.”

Violence followed us to America!

As word of the shooting spread, Bihi said a woman called him to express sorrow.

“She said it’s unfortunate that we fled from violence and here we are trying to make our dreams come true. And then the violence follows us here.”

Note there is no clarification of what she is talking about.  They are always the victims and making it sound like somehow it’s America’s fault (maybe the reporter is doing that).  But, she must be referring to clan violence and warfare that we have brought to America right along with the tens of  thousands of Somali refugees the State Department has invited.*

Our friend Jerry Gordon at New English Review addresses that possibility here at his post on this case this morning.

*For new readers :

The US State Department has admitted over 80,000 Somali refugees to the US (this linked post continues to be one of the most widely read posts we have ever written) in the last 25 years and then last year had to suspend family reunification because widespread immigration fraud was revealed through DNA testing.  That specific program has not yet been reopened (that we know of), but will be soon.  Nevertheless, thousands of Somali Muslims continue to be resettled as I write this.

Lutheran NGO party shut down in Kenyan refugee camp

This incident happened in October of last year, but I’m just seeing it this morning for the first time.  Apparently, according to KANERE,* Kenyan police interrupted a party of humanitarian aid workers that frankly sounds pretty wild.   Here is the story about the incident at the Lutheran World Federation NGO compound at Kakuma Refugee Camp.

An unusual incident happened on Saturday night, the 10th of October, at the LWF compound when three policemen invaded a farewell party. The party was organized for German Technological Cooperation (GTZ) agency staff who were leaving the camp.

During the early hours of the evening, the group entertainment team engaged the audience with music and everyone was on their feet dancing to the beat of the music.

“It was very colorful and bright, with every beat matching the dancers; it was lively and fantastic,” said one partygoer of the experience.

At about 12:00 midnight, everyone in the hall was surprised when the loud music came to a dead stop. Unnoticed by revelers, several Kenyan police officers had arrived on the scene and ordered the DJ to stop playing the music.

“You must stop playing the music! This is heard beyond 30 yards and it’s against rules and regulation by the law,” one police officer reportedly said.

Without speaking to anyone, the police officer went directly to the main speaker, unplugged the cable, and halted the music. Then the other police officers claimed that the DJ was under arrest. The police officers went on to say that all the equipment used for the party was to be taken to the police station. However, the equipment was not owned by GTZ but instead belonged to Film Aid International, which had offered to assist the party with a music system.

Partiers got tense:

The DJ resisted and wanted to know the reasons for his arrest. He demanded that the police show him a warrant of arrest, which was not produced. The policemen claimed that they were not informed about the party ahead of time, and that the music was played at such a loud volume that it was disturbing the compound residents and people living around the area.

During the entire confrontation, GTZ staffs hosting the party remained seated, reportedly doing nothing to help the situation. Film Aid staff, on the other hand, engaged themselves in trying to stop the police. This caused them to argue with GTZ staff hosting the party.

The police caused a stir and created tension among the partygoers….

So tense they were drunk on the floor.  UNHCR security called.

The scene degenerated until LWF Compound Management was finally forced to call the UNHCR Head of Security Operations, Mr. Munuve, at 2:00 am. UNHCR security arrived approximately one and a half hours after the police had first invaded the party.

Mr. Munuve reached a dialogue by calling the LWF Compound Management, Film Aid Manager, and one of the police officers. They negotiated for some time until an agreement was reached at that odd hour of the night.

The police officers left the party without taking the DJ or the musical equipment. Partygoers clapped loudly in approval, while others were seen drunk on the floor and spent the night recuperating.

Those Lutherans sure do know how to have a good time!   By the way, did it occur to any of the partiers that devout Muslims in the camp that houses Somalis or even Muslims in the Kenyan police might have objected to loud western music and alcoholic beverages, both forbidden in Islam.

* Kakuma News Reflector says they are about “fair public debate on refugee affairs” and that is our goal too at RRW!

In exercising a refugee free press, we speak in respect of human rights and the rule of law in order to create a more open society in refugee camps and to develop a platform for fair public debate on refugee affairs.

No time now, but later I’ll check and see if any of your tax dollars go to this NGO.

Al-Amriki, American Al-Shabaab, says they have big plans for the world

Update January 30th, 2010:  The NYT has a lengthy story on Al-Amriki reported here at Jihad Watch.

The Toronto Star has a lengthy detailed article yesterday about Omar Hammami – known to followers as Abu Mansour “Al-Amriki” (the American) — whose fluent English and flamboyant style may be responsible for some recruitment of Somali refugees living in the West to join the Jihadists in Somalia.

Born and raised in Alabama he spent a year in Canada learning Somali ways and marrying a Somali girl before joining Al-Shabaab in the Horn of Africa.  We have reported on him previously when he mocked Obama’s Cairo speech on Islam, here.*

Read the whole article, it is very interesting.  The one part I wanted to point out today is this section of the news feature—for those of you thinking this is just an issue for far away Africa, Al-Amriki makes it clear that their Jihad is about creating a worldwide caliphate!

Al-Shabab’s stated goals are to take power from the fragile government backed by African Union troops and turn Somalia into an Islamic state friendly to Al Qaeda. Ultimately, its leaders say, the aim is to establish a global Islamic state.

“We are striving to establish the Islaamic Khilaafah from East to West,” Hammami writes in an Internet posting of Jan. 8, 2008, “after removing the occupier and killing the apostates.”

That last part means you—unless you are a devout Muslim, you are the occupiers and the apostates.  And, by the way, the stealth Jihad can be accomplished through the political process more easily than with guns.  In Africa it might be guns, in America and Canada it is the political process (while you sleep!).

Somalis coming in through our wide open back door

Arrggghhhh!   Check out this story at the Los Angeles Times today.  It seems that Somalis aren’t waiting to get into the US as refugees but are sneaking across our borders and flying into our airports and asking for asylum.

LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) — The asylum seeker from Somalia hung his head as an immigration judge grilled him about his treacherous journey [is this description of a treacherous journey supposed to make him sound sympathetic!] from the Horn of Africa. By air, sea and land he finally made it to Mexico, and then a taxi delivered him into the arms of U.S. border agents at San Diego.

Islamic militants had killed his brother, Mohamed Ahmed Kheire testified, and majority clan members had beaten his sister. He had to flee Mogadishu to live.

The voice of the judge, beamed by videoconference from Seattle, crackled loudly over a speaker in the mostly empty courtroom near the detention yard in the desert north of Los Angeles. He wanted to know why Kheire had no family testimony to corroborate his asylum claim.

Kheire, 31, said he didn’t have e-mail in detention, and didn’t think to ask while writing to family on his perilous trek.

It seemed like the end of Kheire’s dream as he waited for the judge’s ruling. He clasped his hands, his plastic jail bracelet dangling from his wrist, and looked up at the ceiling, murmuring words of prayer.

Kheire is one of hundreds of desperate Somalis in the last two years to have staked everything on a wild asylum gamble by following immigration routes to the United States traditionally traveled by Latinos.

With the suspension of a U.S. refugee program and stepped-up security in the Gulf of Aden and along Mediterranean smuggling routes, more overseas migrants from Somalia are pursuing asylum through what one expert calls the “back door.”

Arrggghhhh!  Only family reunification is suspended due to the widespread fraud discovered through DNA testing in 2008.*  We are still admitting thousands of Somalis every year to the US.   Mr. Hatfield of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society has been helping them resettle in the US—he knows the truth!   We admitted 670 Somalis into the US in the refugee program in the first two months of FY2010 alone.

The U.S. has closed most of the doors for Somalis to come in through the refugee program so they’ve found alternative ways to get in,” said Mark Hetfield, senior vice president for policy and programs at the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. “This is their new route.”

About 1,500 people from around the world showed up in U.S. airports and on the borders seeking asylum during the 2009 fiscal year, according to statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Somalis were the biggest group to make the journey, with most arriving in San Diego. More than 240 Somalis arrived during that period — more than twice the number from the year before.

Arrggghhh!   When the refugee program is not robust!!!  What the heck, we are bringing more refugees to the US now (when there are no jobs) than we did in any year since 9/11.

Immigration experts say such circuitous paths are routes of last resort.

“I always call it the back door,” said Bob Montgomery, director of the San Diego office for the International Rescue Committee.

“When the refugee program is not robust, we see more people trying to come through the asylum system,” he said.

Most Somalis have reached the United States — there are some 87,000 here — through U.S.-sponsored refugee resettlement programs. But the State Department in 2008 suspended a family reunification program for refugees over fraud concerns. The number of Somalis admitted by refugee programs dwindled to about 4,000 last year.

Arrggghhh!  And, what the heck is this—87,000 Somalis in the US.  We have hundreds of thousands of Somalis in the US because we admitted nearly that many over 25 years through the refugee program.*  Those Somali families have been having on average of 6 kids per family for two decades!

Read the rest of the story, but be prepared to be outraged!

Comment worth noting: America owes the world

Comments worth noting is a category we created to highlight comments that otherwise would be lost because they were sent to old posts, or are so good (or bad!) that we want to make the point more strongly by posting them upfront.   Here is one this morning (posted to our ‘fact sheets’ link) just to give you an idea of the sorts of comments we get.  Apparently this guy (assume it’s a guy) says that because of Islamic terrorism, he has left his “beloved” African country and come across our Mexican border illegally.  And, we owe him.    No further comment from me!

Dolecha says:

I can’t tell you how flawed your immigration system is or other bullshit your writing……But i can tell you something[how i end up being an asylum seeker]i came vie the Mexico border.I haven’t in my wildest dream thought of coming to USA to be illegal this way.I was having a multiple profession with a very comfertabel income. But your country is helping a blood sucker in East Africa in the name of terrorism it let us flee our beloved country hence,it is your responsibility to give us what we lost in our respective country’s.You have to take responsiblity.I am not saying that all of us have the same reason to be here, but there are fewor many of us who don’t want to be here but were forced to be.

Which African country is the “blood sucker?”
