Thailand to deport latest groups of Rohingya asylum seekers

What is a country to do—just about anywhere in the world these days massive numbers of migrants are on the move looking for jobs and social services.

In and around Southeast Asia it’s impossible to do the Greek model of border security.

Thailand won’t let this latest group of Rohingya Muslim asylum seekers stay and the UN is not happy.

In Australia those arriving by boat get to stay, but are placed in detention and there is almost daily news about the pressure on the government there to not be so inhumane.   So, what is a country that wishes to survive do?

Here is the latest fuming from the NGOs and the UN:

Thai authorities say Rohingya Muslim refugees allegedly fleeing sectarian violence and persecution in western Burma must be sent back to their homeland.

The 73 migrants, including women and children, were found drifiting in a small, overcrowded boat off the Thai resort town of Phuket, well short of their final destination of Malaysia.

Thai authorities intercepted the boat, which had been at sea for 13 days, and provided the refugees with food and supplies on Tuesday. But local media reported Wednesday they have been arrested and ordered to return to Burma by land.

Sunai Phasuk, a senior researcher with Human Rights Watch, says that Thailand should suspend any plan to deport the refugees until the United Nations refugee agency has a chance to determine whether they have legitimate claims for protection.

He says Thai authorities, who are reluctant to absorb migrant workers from neighboring countries, must come up with a better policy for dealing with boat people.

Then here is more—UN puts pressure on Thailand.  (see the photo, Camp of the Saints anyone?)

It is just a matter of time before the US steps in and says to countries like Thailand (as they did Malta), heck we will take a few off your hands.

Come to think of it, where are the nations of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) with their Muslim charity?  They should be taking in their Muslim brethren!

Small-town Australia says ‘no thanks’ to refugees moving in

It wasn’t too long ago that we told you about the small town in Sweden that was resigned to the arrival of refugees to be housed in a historic mansion in their town, here.   And, LOL!, then remember the refugees said, ‘get me out of here, there are ghosts!’

Now, a small town suburb of Melbourne,  Hawthorne, Australia, is balking at a proposal for 100 refugees to “transition” while living on a “heritage street.”

****Update Nov. 17th and correction:  Reader Nilk commented to this post (be sure to see the comments) to tell us more about Hawthorne.  He describes it as a rather trendy suburb of Melbourne and not a “small town” as I’ve described it.***

By the way, everyone remembers when immigrants went to big cities, but this is a growing practice in the West—trying to get refugees moved to small cities and towns.  The refugee industry advocates probably think they are thusly teaching the local hicks how to be “welcoming” and to get used to multiculturalism.  However, jobs and housing become an issue for such immigrants—not to mention the antipathy some rural folks have to change (and why should they be forced to change?)

Here is the story from the Herald Sun:

COMMUNITY pressure has all but crushed plans for asylum seekers to be housed in a former aged care home in Hawthorn.

Neighbours are divided over a proposal to use the Uniting Church centre on Manningtree Rd as accommodation for up to 100 refugees on bridging visas.

The furore began when refugee services agency AMES, which has a six-month lease on the property, sent a letter to locals on October 30, introducing “some new residents in your neighbourhood”.

The organisation provides jobs and short-term accommodation for asylum seekers while their refugee claims are finalised.

But AMES spokesman Adam Baxter said the organisation was now reconsidering the plan because of objections from some local residents.

“The reason that we’re not moving ahead at this stage is because we’re not comfortable with the level of community welcome,” Mr Baxter said.

Residents do the “unwelcoming” thing—circulate a petition against the plan.

“In principle it’s terrific. Refugees deserve to be here, by definition they’re only here because they’ve had a bloody hard time,” the woman said.

“(But) you’d totally change the balance of the (heritage-listed) street.”  [I had to look up heritage-listed street and found that it must be a street with an historic preservation designation, geez, they even have the ‘good-taste gestapo’ in Australia.  But, it’s always fun to see Leftwingers squirm when you use one of their programs to defeat another of their pet projects!—ed]

The Herald Sun understands a petition was circulated against the proposal.

As I said here a couple of days ago, if  you think you can escape the politically-correct policies of the Left by running away to Australia, forget it!   Besides, if you are white with a European ethnic background and a non-Muslim, you probably can’t get into Australia anyway!

Australia: Islamophobia on the rise says new study

Seems that regular folks in Australia are leery of employing Muslim immigrants after terrorist attacks in the US and in Bali.  Imagine that!

Note to friends of mine who have said they want to move to Australia after the recent US election—you are dreaming.  They have the same problems we do with a growing population of non-western, largely third world immigrants.  My google alerts are filled daily with stories about recent illegal boat arrivals of mostly Muslims and hunger strikes by asylum seekers that have the government and the people of Australia in regular turmoil.

Get with the program—it is always your fault!  It has nothing to do with events like this one in Australia just this past September—Muslim kids carry signs demanding beheadings.

Tell me, what have supposedly ‘moderate Muslims’ done to disavow and stand up to the so-called hijackers of their religion—nothing!  But, you bad ol’ westerners don’t want to hire them because you are Islamophobic.

Here is the report from News.com.au:

A NEW report paints a devastating picture of Muslim unemployment in Australia and links workplace discrimination to terrorist attacks such as the Bali bombings.

The report says that reducing the deep-seated hostility toward Muslims by a minority of Australians was hard to achieve in an atmosphere created by an open-ended war on terror.

The Newcastle University report was completed last year and quietly released on the Immigration Department’s website.

Using Census data, it found that the jobless rate for Muslim men was more than double the national average and that only 57 per cent of Muslim males aged 15 and older had jobs compared with 68 per cent of all working-age men.   [They must have some generous welfare program—ed]

The seven-person research team, led by Prof Terry Lovat, said that Muslims faced workplace barriers including poor English proficiency, difficulty having overseas qualifications recognised and cultural and religious issues.

But they said that Muslims were also viewed as “others” by employers, and they suffered rising discrimination in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks and the 2002 Bali bombings.

[….]

“Since the terrorist attacks Islamophobia is on the rise in Western countries, including Australia,” he said.  [By the way, if you haven’t noticed there are lesser attacks and many foiled attacks every day in the West.  It is not just some ancient history attacks like 9/11 that have people “Islamophobic”—ed]

The report’s authors called for a long-term concerted campaign to change societal attitudes that are reflected in workplace discrimination.

How come NO ONE ever asks the Muslims to change?  (click here)

Australia (again!): Iraqi refugee sentenced in human trafficking case

He was a former refugee who had gained Australian citizenship and was probably encouraging his kids to hold signs like these (behead the infidels)!

From ABC News Australia:

A former Iraqi refugee has been sentenced to more than 11 years in jail for people smuggling.

The Victorian County Court heard Ali Haidari, 37, arrived in Australia on a boat carrying asylum seekers and then used his contacts to organise passage for families.

He pleaded guilty to three charges of people smuggling and one count of trafficking an estimated $1.5 million worth of methamphetamine.

Haidari charged asylum seekers between US$8,000 and US$10,000 for the trip to Australia.

[….]

The court heard Haidari was a Kurd who had fled Iraq and Iran and then sought asylum in Australia after a childhood of persecution and violence.  [And, LOL! they believed him!-–ed]

He was granted a protection visa after four months in detention and became a citizen in 2000.

People smuggling and drug running and he will be eligible for parole in only eight years!

Haidari will serve minimum of eight years’ jail before being eligible for parole.

No mention of deportation here either.

You know what I would like to see—asylum lawyers being made responsible for their clients actions.  Imagine if these lawyers (we have loads of them as ‘ambulance chasers’ on our southern border waiting for the supposed “asylum seekers” to arrive so that they can advise them on how to proceed to con immigration judges) were made responsible for crimes committed by their clients.  That would put a chill on this asylum industry in a heart beat.

Australian (immigrant) children carry signs calling for beheadings

In yet another protest (supposedly!) against that really goofy anti-Islam youtube trailer (you know the one Hillary and Susan Rice blame for the death of a US Ambassador in Libya), anti-America rioters injured police officers in Sydney, Australia.

If you’ve been following RRW’s reporting on Australian refugees and bogus asylum seekers you know that the country is having a horrible time with illegal aliens calling themselves refugees coming ashore by the thousands.  The majority of the aliens are Muslims.

So, when you see news like this outrageous story, don’t you wonder why Australia is so “welcoming.”

From the Sydney Morning Herald this past Sunday:

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione says he was outraged to see children holding signs that called for the beheading of anti-Islamists at a Sydney protest.

Mr Scipione said it was the actions of “extremist offenders” who turned a peaceful protest violent on Saturday, leaving six police and 17 others injured.

“It was an outrage,” he told reporters in Sydney today.

“To see a young child with a placard thrust in his hand calling for the beheading of a person is simply something I cannot comprehend.

“It’s just not what we teach our children.”

About 300 people had gathered at Sydney Town Hall to condemn a film made in the US that poked fun at the prophet Muhammad.

Be sure to visit the story to see the photos.   Just imagine a kid carrying such a sign in the US!
