Important error in previous post!

Sorry to generate yet another e-mail to you, but readers who receive RRW via e-mail have an error in that post.

In my hurry to post the latest news about Somalis in the US, I originally said the numbers at the end were from FY2014, that should have been FY2015!

Right now, we are bringing in over 800 Somalis a month into the US.

Go here to see the corrected version!

RRW Weekly round-up for the week ending February 13th

Welcome to new readers/subscribers who arrived here after my few minutes on Fox & Friends this week.

Most weeks (if we have time) we like to let readers know which stories during the week were being most widely read.  You can see our daily top posts in the right hand side bar, but here are the ones that topped the list for the whole week:

1) Somalis colonizing Nacogdoches County, TX

2) Mass Exodus from Muslim Kosovo into Europe

3)  Maine Governor LePage says immigrants pose a health threat to America

Top countries from which readers arrived are many of the ones we are familiar with.  Interestingly, although not making the top ten, but high on the list is the Russian Federation.  We haven’t seen that before.  Here are this week’s top ten (excluding the US of course):

Canada

UK

Australia

Germany

Sweden

France

South Africa

Jamaica

India

Thailand

Really the primary purpose of our occasional weekly updates is to help new readers get oriented and to help you all find useful information among our 6,000 plus posts!

For new readers!

Since we get new readers every day, here is my usual spiel with two points I need to make:

First, we do screen our comments and don’t post any that threaten any kind of violence and we don’t post ones filled with foul language.  An occasional expletive might slip in if the comment is otherwise a good one.  You are always free to disagree with our point of view if you follow those two simple rules.

And the other thing I want to mention is about e-mails that come to you every time we post.  They come directly from wordpress to subscribers.  We don’t send out e-mails.  So, if we are posting too much for your e-mail inbox, then just unsubscribe and visit RRW when you have the time I understand completely about too many e-mails!  You might want to simply follow us on twitter or on facebook (below).

This is where you can find information if you are arriving here at RRW for the first time (in addition to our fact sheet). We have over 6,000 posts.

*  See our categories (left hand sidebar)

*  See the tag clouds (right hand sidebar)

*  Also, we have a great search function and since neither the categories nor the tags go all the way back to our first posts more than seven years ago, use the search window with a few key words.  You might want to first try your city, state, or country to see what we have reported from there over the years.

Readers from Europe should search for key words ‘Invasion of Europe’ for all of our many posts on the migration crisis on the Continent.

By the way, our category entitled ‘where to find information’ is filled with reports and documents, but with 321 posts archived there, it is pretty unwieldy now.

Past weekly roundups can be found in our category entitled ‘blogging.’

If you wish to be notified when we post, consider subscribing or follow us on twitter (@refugeewatcher) or facebook (RefugeeInfoResource).  ‘Like us’ on facebook!

And apologies to all who e-mail and comment, sorry if I don’t respond much, there are just not enough hours in my day!

It occurs to me that I do see everyone’s comments to posts because we do screen them (no foul language, no threats), so if you have something you want me to see, I don’t at all mind if you send the link as a comment to a post, even if it’s off-topic.

To regular readers, thank you for your continued concern for this very important issue.

RRW does Fox and Friends this morning….

Yesterday I got a call from Fox asking me to appear on Fox & Friends today and I agreed.  It was a first for me.  I realized how hard it is to say much in a few minutes.   Here is the clip of my interview (thanks to our friend Brenda Walker at Limits to Growth who posted it).

http://video.foxnews.com/v/4048062668001/new-plan-allows-relatives-of-illegal-immigrants-to-enter-us/?playlist_id=940325739001#sp=show-clips

Asked what my biggest problem with the expansion is, this is what I said:

My biggest problem is the lawlessness coming from the White House on this particular issue. I followed the refugee program for the last seven years; this is a major jump in expansion of the program. I also think that immigration is our existential threat in this country, both the numbers and who we are bringing in.

We previously reported on the Obama Administration’s expansion of the refugee program, by magically transforming poor kids in three Central American countries into “persecuted” refugees, here and here.

Tomorrow we promise to be back to our normal posting schedule.

RRW Weekly round-up for week ending February 6th

Haven’t rounded up for two weeks—away last weekend!

So, I didn’t get to tell you yet that for January 2015 we reached another milestone—best month ever in terms of the number of readers arriving here.

Here are the top most-read posts for this week (top daily posts are in right hand side bar):

1) Australia grapples with Bacha Bazi compulsive predators

2) Seattle Somalis protest against a refugee agency over Mohammed cartoon

3) France: EU shaken by rise of Le Pen in polls

Top countries from which visitors arrived (besides the US):

Australia

Canada

UK

France

Malta (those Maltese seemed to like the Le Pen story)

New Zealand

Germany

Sweden

Netherlands

Finland

And, although we don’t normally go beyond the top ten, next after Finland was Romania (that is a first to find that country so high on the list).

Really the primary purpose of our occasional weekly updates is to help new readers get oriented and to help you all find useful information among our 6,000 plus posts!

RRW takes a break!

But, we won’t be sunning in some warm climate!  I’ll be at a conference in St. Louis to speak about the refugee program and won’t be posting.  I’ll report on the event when I return on Sunday.

I’m telling you this so that you know if you don’t see your comments posted, or you’ve e-mailed me and get no response, you know why!

On the e-mails generally, I get hundreds every day and only have time to look at a few, so please accept my apologies if you write and don’t hear from me even when I am here.   I don’t know how to solve that problem unless I get a staff (or even an intern!) somehow.

If you are arriving here for the first time, please spend some time searching our site for news you could use.  We have over 6,000 posts and the best way to find something is to start with your city, state, or country name in the search bar.    Also, have a look at our categories and our tags for topics of interest.  See last week’s ’round-up’ for more tips on finding information here.

I’m hoping that this opportunity in St. Louis will be the beginning of a national grassroots initiative that addresses the US Refugee Admissions Program and its much-needed reform!
