A new facebook page: Diversity’s Dark Side (Like it!)

Longtime readers know that I’ve been looking for years for a way to highlight stories that involve immigrant crimes and cultural clashes that don’t necessarily involve refugees.  This has been especially so with the food stamp fraud stories we’ve posted here as a ‘hobby’ of sorts.

Now, thanks to the help of a reader from Kentucky, there is such a place to gather those news stories.  It is a facebook page entitled appropriately, Diversity’s Dark Side.   By posting news stories that demonstrate the destructive element more uncontrolled immigration is bringing to America, it is a way to balance the usual multicultural mumbo-jumbo, parroted by the mainstream media and the Open borders lobby, about immigrants supposedly bringing strength to communities by bringing “ethnic” diversity.

Here is the “about” at DDS:

Our goal is to gather in one central place reports of crimes, hardships and examples of cultural tension brought to our towns and cities by people who should never have been allowed entrance into our country. We encourage people to question if there really is ‘strength in diversity’.

If you have never read it, this might be a good time to visit our ‘Diversity’ page here at RRW and read this 2007 article about a Harvard study which questioned the whole notion of diversity bringing strength to communities.

If you are on facebook, visit Diversity’s Dark Side and ‘Like it.’  Tell your friends where they can get a daily dose of reality about some of the crooks, criminals and generally those from cultures unwilling to assimilate which we have allowed to enter the US!

Also, some have asked about a twitter account for DDS, until we can figure out how to link the two, you can follow me on twitter.  I am AnnC@refugeewatcher.

Somali fraudsters exposed in Lewiston, ME and Columbus, Ohio

The Lewiston fraud is your run-of-the-mill welfare fraud (with a little alleged forgery and some lying thrown in!) which we are becoming familiar with in the cities, like Columbus and Lewiston, that have “welcomed” diversity.  The Columbus story adds an interesting and new piece of information about the creative ways refugees are defrauding Uncle Sam.

From the Lewiston Sun Journal  (by the way, when I type ‘Lewiston fraud’ into our search bar this is what I get—lots of previous posts):

AUBURN — A Lewiston couple denied in court Thursday charges that they schemed to defraud the government out of welfare benefits over the past nine years.

Amina H. Ege, 42, of 105 Shawmut St., was indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury on two counts of theft by deception, four counts of aggravated forgery and 12 counts of unsworn falsification. Six of the charges are felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The remaining charges are misdemeanors.

Abdi A. Hassan, 43, of the same address, was indicted on two counts of theft by deception, seven counts of aggravated forgery, one count of negotiating a worthless instrument and five counts of unsworn falsification. Nine of the charges are felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and one of the counts is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The rest of the charges are misdemeanors.

According to court documents, the two are accused of lying about the fact that they were living together while Hassan was providing Ege with financial support. She was accused of failing to disclose that she had received a workers’ compensation settlement.

Because of those omissions, according to the indictment, Ege received more than $10,000 worth of benefits from programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Section 8 housing, among others.

Who knew that the federal ‘No Child Left Behind’ program was paying Somalis to educate kids!

Mussa Farah is a spokesman for the central Ohio Somali community and on Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Community Relations Commission.

From the Columbus Dispatch (hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’):

Columbus City Schools are stepping up oversight of independent tutors paid for by the federal No Child Left Behind program, terminating eight contracts this school year.

The problems have ranged from students’ signatures being falsified to employees who weren’t paid, according to district documents.

Last week, the district sent a letter to Horn of Africa, a tutoring program in Linden, stating that it was rescinding its contract based on evidence that employees “falsified dates, times of attendance and student signatures on attendance forms.”

The district conducted an inspection in January of Horn of Africa and said it had found students on computers not receiving instruction, including some playing online games, according to a district report.

“No instruction taking place,” the district representative commented on the form.

Mussa Farah, who owns the service that was paid almost $83,000 in federal money during the 2009-10 school year, said an illness in his family distracted him from running the center, which he voluntarily closed after being notified recently of the problems.

Farah said that the claim that a student’s signature had been falsified came because a student who had signed in left tutoring early because of an illness.

“I never did anything wrong,” said Farah, who is a spokesman for the central Ohio Somali community and on Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Community Relations Commission. “The decision to stop came from me. I had to fire the teachers and everyone who was there.”

Farah still operates a tutoring center for South-Western City Schools that runs on federal money.

Under federal law, parents of students whose schools are low-performing can choose to get tutoring from any provider who signs up with the state. Columbus schools paid more than $3.7 million last school year to 53 providers, Braverman said.

I’ll bet they had been laughing all the way to the bank about us dumb infidels!

If you are on facebook, don’t forget to ‘like’ Diversity’s Dark Side a new page to highlight stories like this one about legal and illegal immigrants bringing crime and cultural tensions to “welcoming” America.

Who tried to set fire to Seattle gay night club?

Update February 2:  Police arrest Musab Mohamed Masmari on the way to the airport, here.

That’s what friends of ‘Neighbors’ want to know.  The incident is described here, note how the 700 plus patrons in the club on New Year’s Eve were likely saved by the swift action of a US Army Sargent who described the arson attempt as a “terrorist act.”   Hat tip:  ‘pungentpeppers’

US Army Staff Sgt Christopher Bostick

From NewNowNext:

We reported on the fire that threatened to blaze through Neighbours, a legendary Seattle gay nightclub, on New Year’s Eve. But now two heroes have emerged from the tragedy, and their bravery and skill saved the lives of the 750 people in the club from an arsonist’s murderous plot.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Bostick was in the club shortly after midnight when he noticed the flames.“It was like the Carrie movie,” he told KTVU. “You see just fire everywhere. And that’s all you can see and for a second, that’s all you’re focused on.”

Instinctively, Bostick rushed to grab a fire extinguisher from behind the bar, and then he and Mike Casey, a friend in the Air Force, attacked the flames until the sprinkler system kicked in.

“If that fire did what the arsonist intended, there’s no telling how many people could have died,” said Bostick. “If we hadn’t reacted to it, it would have taken too long for someone to react, and that fire would have become unmanageable in another 30 seconds.’’ Police haven’t arrested any suspects in the blaze, set in a stairwell leading to the second floor, but are searching surveillance tapes for clues.

Bostick, who tracks terrorists for the Army, says the incident has the earmarks of a terrorist act: “This was a planned attack on a large quantity of people in order to affect an entire community—to me, that’s terrorism.” He believes the arsonist walked up the stairs to the second floor with the can, then poured out gasoline as he walked down again.

Why are we writing about this?  Because, although no arrest has yet been made, many are pointing a finger at Musab Mohamed Masmari, described in some news reports as a Libyan from Benghazi.   And, we are mentioning the story because we previously reported on arson as a weapon of choice for Middle Easterners/Africans with grudges to settle.  You know they do bring their ‘cultural practices’ with them!

And, by the way, so far! (if you are wondering) we’ve only taken one or two refugees from Libya, so it is unclear how Masmari came to be living in Seattle or what his immigration status is.

There is one more reason I’m posting this story and that is to use it to tell you about a new facebook page entitled ‘Diversity’s Dark Side’ where news accounts like this one will find a home!  We’ve long complained that there is no central place for US immigrant (legal and illegal alien) crime or cultural clash stories to be posted.  Now there is!   If you are on facebook, click here, and ‘like’ Diversity’s Dark Side! which was created by a loyal reader of RRW.

Obviously, we will continue to post stories here at RRW that involve refugees who commit crimes, but others involving illegal aliens and others with legal immigration status of some sort will be posted at DDS.   If you are not on facebook and have crime/cultural clash stories for Diversity’s Dark Side, please send them to me and I will post them to facebook.

LOL!  We need to provide a little balanced reporting to counter those, who, like parrots, tell us that ‘diversity brings strength’ when promoting open borders and more immigration!

Judge reschedules sentencing date for Somali woman who sent funds to terror group, lied about it

This is a story from last week, so you may have seen it elsewhere, but even late it is worth posting because it contains a few bits of useful information.  (My apologies to the reader who sent this—I’ve lost track of who it was!)

Judge Davis wants to know if she would be deported after completing her sentence.
http://www.mnd.uscourts.gov/MDL-Baycol/judge-michael-davis.shtml

Before he sentences her for perjury, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in the slammer, Chief District Judge Michael Davis wants to know if she would likely be deported upon her release from prison.

We do deport to Somalia now.

We first told you about this case, here in August 2013.

From the Pioneer Press:

A woman who admitted she lied for the terrorist group al-Shabaab will have to wait until April to learn her punishment.

Saynab Abdirashid Hussein, a former Minneapolis woman studying nursing in Tennessee, was to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court on a count of perjury. But midway through the hearing, Chief U.S. District Judge Michael Davis put off handing down a sentence.

The reason: He wants her lawyers and prosecutors to provide legal briefs explaining whether they think the conviction and sentence will result in her deportation.

Her new sentencing date is April 29.

Prosecutors are seeking a minimum sentence of two years, anything over one year could get her deported says expert:

Hussein was born in Somalia and was a year old when her parents fled the country. They spent nine years in a Kenyan refugee camp before they were allowed entry into the U.S.

After the hearing, prosecutors didn’t say what their position would be regarding deportation, and defense attorneys declined comment. Neither would comment on what her immigration status is, but court documents suggest she is a lawful permanent resident.

Ruslan Bocancea, a Minneapolis lawyer specializing in immigration law, said that because Hussein pleaded guilty to an aggravated felony involving honesty — in which prosecutors are seeking a sentence of at least two years — the woman could be deported.

“When there’s an element of fraud involved, like lying, Immigration is not forgiving at all,” Bocancea said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Once your sentence is one year or higher, the government can deport you, assuming you are a permanent resident.”

One way to keep from being deported is to marry a US citizen!

A permanent resident facing deportation can ask to stay, and among the reasons they can cite is that they are married to a U.S. citizen, Bocancea said. Hussein got married this month, but neither side said whether the groom, who was in court, is a citizen.

[….]

Hussein was the 19th person, and only female, charged in “Operation Rhino,” the FBI’s investigation into al-Shabaab’s alleged recruitment of fighters from the Twin Cities, home to this country’s largest Somali population.

Comment worth noting: Reader reports on Minneapolis Somali fire

Explosion/fire in Little Mogadishu (Minneapolis) on New Years Day 2014

I asked in a comment yesterday to our Brooklyn arson post if anyone knew what was happening with the Minneapolis Somali explosion/fire investigation.

Reader ‘Jewel’ sent us a recap from last week at Gates of Vienna where blogger Baron Bodissey said the following in response to reports that the fire was still “under investigation”:

I’ve been following the news of this incident since shortly after the explosion, and I’m forced to conclude that some or all of the following crimes were committed, and are still being committed. There may be others; I’m not a legal expert:

Official malfeasance
Dereliction of duty
Obstruction of justice
Destruction of evidence
Misprision of multiple felonies
Conspiracy

It’s hard to determine who might be guilty of these offenses, but the list of suspects moves beyond Minneapolis city officials and up into the rarefied region inhabited by agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.

These crimes were committed regardless of what caused the explosion. Even if the cause of the fire was a natural gas leak, or a malfunctioning propane heater, or an exploding can of deodorant, justice was obstructed and evidence was destroyed. There was a blatant attempt to deflect any meaningful investigation of what did cause the explosion, and the destruction of the relevant evidence ensures that the cause of the fire will never be determined with any certainty.

Bodissey’s must-read post is fittingly titled, “Ember Days”.

All of our previous coverage is here.  Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis?  Go here.  Thank the US State Department and its Catholic, Lutheran and Evangelical (World Relief) resettlement contractors.

Henceforth I think I will be looking on any fire involving Middle Easterners or African Muslims as suspicious.
