Three more stories about Iraqi refugees unhappy with America

They are building up in my list of posts I want to write, so the best thing to help me clear my queue is to post them altogether especially since they basically say the same thing.  Also, since I just wrote in my previous post about the International Rescue Committee, that volag, with its tactics to get more $$$$, is on my mind.

This is the basic story line:

* Iraqis suffer from violence in their homeland and want out

* Iraqis come to the US with great expectations

* Iraqis are shocked to find they will live in substandard housing and have only menial jobs (or no job)

* Iraqis are then under great stress and some want to go home to the Middle East

* Some Iraqis actually do go back.

There are two reason I can see why we have the same story template.  First, either the mainstream media reporters are just a bunch of lemmings and when a couple of reporters do a story they all follow each other over a cliff with the same story.  Or, the story is planted on purpose by the likes of the IRC in order to build pressure on Congress to allocate more money for refugees generally that coincidentally flows through the coffers of the IRC.  Oops, there is a third alternative, the stories are a product of the two reasons:  IRC plants the story and the lemmings follow it.

See my June post about the IRC using Iraqi refugees as poster children to get more funding, here.

These are the three I have on my list today:   New York Times, InFocus News, Scripps News.

Note also that the subtext in most of these stories is that America is bad—either for bringing a war to Iraq and now continuing to mistreat its people, or both.  That is part of the guilt-trip rap the IRC is promoting.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Iraqi refugees you can find in our category on the subject, here, which now contains 412 posts!

Iraqi refugee czar: Human Rights First welcomes power grab at White House

No surprise here.  Human Rights First wanted an Iraqi refugee czar in the White House way back even before Obama was inaugurated.  They said then they wanted 60,000 Iraqis to come to the US within two years.  We probably have reached our goal of 17,000 for this year and many are angry and unhappy because they have few jobs and live in substandard housing, but that’s o.k. with the folks fighting for Human Rights I guess.

This is how they praise one more Obama move to take power from the US State Department that we told you about here, yesterday.

Human Rights First welcomes Friday’s White House announcement that the administration will appoint Samantha Power, Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the National Security Council, to coordinate the work of the many U.S. agencies engaged on issues that affect Iraqi refugees and internally displaced persons.

In its blueprint “How to Confront the Iraqi Refugee Crisis,” issued last December, Human Rights First urged the incoming Obama administration to appoint a White House coordinator to ensure that plans to assist Iraqi refugees and IDPs were integrated into broader policy and strategy in Iraq and implemented across all relevant federal agencies. Ms. Power’s extensive experience with refugee and humanitarian issues and her deep commitment to these issues make her an excellent pick. We look forward to working with her in this new capacity.

One of Ms. Power’s first responsibilities will be to implement reforms to improve the resettlement process for vulnerable Iraqi refugees, including those who have been at risk because of their ties to the United States.

You know when you check out some of these non-profits you realize they really aren’t huge, just a gaggle of activists with a couple of high salaried people at the top (like Michael Posner).  They mostly agitate and lobby and everyone thinks they somehow represent masses of people.  They don’t.  Check out Human Rights First’s Form 990, there isn’t much there.

Iraqi refugee issue to go to Power in the White House

Update August 20th:  More evidence that Ms. Power will be taking State Department powers into the White House, here.

Well it looks like Obama, in another extraordinary move to consolidate his power in the White House, is taking one more issue away from Hillary at the State Department—Iraqi refugees.  I must admit I would normally love watching all this insider intrigue if it weren’t so very serious.  And, I do have a little sympathy for Hillary Clinton as Obama gradually reduces her power and influence—this time using her arch-enemy Samantha Power.

Pamela Geller over at Atlas Shrugs has a juicy little post Saturday that begins:

Back in October of 2008, before BHO was elected, I posted a video of one of Obama’s closest advisers, Samantha Power, calling for a military invasion of Israel (here). Power’s anti-Jewish racism became so hot, she was forced to resign. Of course that was not the reason given. If you remember, it was said that Power resigned from Obama’s election campaign because of a caustic comment she made about Hillary Clinton. Power called Clinton a monster. Oh yeah, Power is a real piece of …..work.

Read the rest of her “Hillary smackdown” post in which she explains how Ms. Power will be taking over an issue normally falling under the purview of the US State Department.

I bet what is going on is that the State Department is being sensible about Iraqi refugees and is coming to the understanding that we can’t resettle millions or even thousands here when there isn’t even enough employment for them and many are already very unhappy.    The White House and its power-brokers including Alinskyites such as John Podesta must be back to their insane idea of airlifting hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Muslims here ASAP.   See this post I wrote last winter about Podesta’s Center for American Progress lobbying for just that—an AIRLIFT.

Now, go back and read my previous post about importing the poor and angry and using them as pawns. I must admit it is getting pretty creepy watching all these radical ideas coming to fruition.

Welcoming Sweden a myth according to Christian Iraqis being denied asylum

Update August 12th:  More here from Stockholm News.

This is a story I would like to know more about.  We know that Sweden is having a terrible time with Muslim immigrants, but didn’t know the country was expelling Iraqi Christians.

More than two years after the Swedish Supreme Court of Migration decided there was no “inner armed conflict” in Iraq, and Sweden started the largest expulsion of any nationality that has ever taken place in the country, a Swedish Radio News investigation for SR’s Ekot uncovers the grim truth about the new asylum policies in Sweden. Unique documents, a hidden microphone and a whistle blower reveal a new Swedish asylum policy of which most people are unaware.

Sweden is known to be one of the most generous countries in the world in granting Iraqi asylum seekers refugee status. The government also pushes for all other EU Countries to adopt more generous policies when it comes to accepting particularly vulnerable Iraqi refugees, especially from the camps in the neighbouring countries of Iraq. At the same time SR News can reveal that Sweden at the same time has been returning other vulnerable Iraqis by force to Baghdad.

During three days – starting on the 10th of August – SR News will reveal more evidence of the new Swedish asylum policy.

For four months we have been interviewing 52 Iraqi citizens, all non-Muslim and most of them Christian Assyrians (also known as Chaldeans and Syriacs). These non-muslim minorities make up a large part of the Iraqi refugees in Sweden, maybe as much as 30-50 percent, although there are no official statistics.

Some of the asylum seekers are now forced into hiding to avoid being sent back to Iraq, a country where only half the number of the Christians and other non-Muslims from before 2003 remain. Few non-Muslim Iraqis have been willing to return voluntarily. Many Christians are also afraid of the new tensions between the Kurdish provinces and the Baghdad government, and that a rising conflict between the two will put the large minority of Christians residing in the Nineveh Plains directly on the fault line.

Read on.  There is more.

I would like to know how many Christians and how many Muslim Iraqis we take, but the State Department isn’t talking.

Iraqis denied asylum in Denmark have disappeared

I told you about this story some time ago here.  A Copenhagen church was sheltering Iraqi refugees who had been denied asylum in Denmark.  Now, more than 40 are missing.  From Ice News:

The refugee support group Asylret has come forward and told Danish police that 44 of the Iraqi asylum seekers who were staying in Denmark have disappeared. The group of 80-plus Iraqis was facing forced repatriation to their home country, prompting more than half of them to flee into hiding.

[….]

Up until last week, some 80 Iraqi asylum seekers were staying in Copenhagen’s Brorsons Church. But 44 of them have gone missing, and Danish police can’t find them.

More Muslim immigrants for Europe I guess.
