American Al Shabaab, Al-Amriki, is from Alabama!

We told you about Abu Mansour al-Amriki  in April here and here where he mocks Obama’s charisma.   He is the white American who has become a leader of the Jihadist group Al Shabaab in Somalia.   Fox News is reporting today that he is Omar Hammami from Daphne, Alabama.  There is speculation that he has been helping recruit Somali former refugees to join him in Africa.

A week after the 9/11 attacks, a young Muslim at South Alabama University told the school’s newspaper it was “difficult to believe a Muslim could have done this.”

Now, eight years later, he is professing to launch attacks himself and calling on others to join the fight, as terror-related charges await him at home in Alabama, FOX News has learned exclusively.

Abu Mansour al-Amriki — or “The American” — has become one of the most recognizable and outspoken voices of terrorist propaganda.

He has been in war-torn Somalia for several years, fighting the secular government there with a group known as al-Shabaab, which has ties to Al Qaeda and was labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. government last year. Only recently has he taken on a starring — and jarring — role in al-Shabaab’s outreach efforts.

[….]

He was born Omar Hammami in May 1984, and he grew up outside Mobile, Ala., in the city of Daphne.

Read the whole article and the links for our previous posts and see how he wants to extend his sword to Obama, and to heck with that “extending the hand” nonsense!

How many refugees have arrived this fiscal year?

FY2009 is rapidly coming to a close.  Fy2010 begins on October 1st and we are on watch to see how many refugees the Obama administration will propose to bring into the US this coming year.  Obama will shortly be releasing his Determination Letter to Congress that sets the ceiling for FY2010.   I want to emphasize setting a ceiling here because that is what the determination letter does even if the refugee industry and its media lackeys want to say it’s a goal they expect to reach.

In light of the economy and the fact that we have one horror story after another of refugees not finding employment and being scared out of their wits they will be evicted from their already substandard apartments (see Houston, here for example), I would hope that Obama would lower the ceiling for the coming year.   But, fat chance of that happening.

Obama and his fellow followers of the Alinsky/Cloward-Piven strategy know that to facilitate change they need hordes of unhappy poor people who need “services” and thereby bring crisis —so that the government will have to step in and take more control.   I know it sounds insane and that is why it has taken us so long to figure out why anyone would purposefully use poor immigrants as pawns in a political game.  It is to expand the reach of government.

Back to how many refugees came this year.   I wish I had discovered it sooner, but that Cultural Orientation Resource Center website I just told you about has some handy dandy statistics.     FY2009 wraps up in a few weeks and we are close to the ceiling set by George Bush last year.  I would suspect that only in the year following 9/11 when refugee numbers plummeted was there any substantial deviation from the ceiling.

Bush set the ceiling  for the year we are ending at 80,000 but you can see they are all doing their darndest to hit it.  As of August 31st  the US State Department had admitted 65,602 refugees.  Look for more news stories this month of overwhelmed refugee offices around the country as there is a crush just before the deadline.

Go check it out.  Burmese, Iraqis and Bhutanese top the list but there is a fairly hefty number of Somalis as well.

Comment worth noting: How the Sierra Club became an advocate for open borders

It’s only in the last couple of weeks, thanks to Glenn Beck’s research, that I have come to understand what happened to the environmental movement that I left in the late 1970’s.  I knew then that many of the leaders of the movement were changing and that concern for the environment and a love of the outdoors and nature’s beauty was no longer the driving concern—the movement had become a radical leftwing movement that was using people’s genuine concern for open space and clean air and water as a club to gather more control at the federal government level and taking away property rights as well.  Power and money seemed to be the twin engines that drove the movement.

(I wrote about the connection between immigration and environmentalists here earlier in the summer.  Note the Tides Foundation involvement.)

Now, we see in coalitions like the Apollo Alliance the melding of radical leftists and assorted socialist and communist political activists including union leaders with mainstream environmental groups, most notably the Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) . See the Apollo Alliance board here (and listed below*)

You are judged by the friends you keep.

By joining forces with the likes of the American Center for Progress (which wants to airlift over 100,000 Iraqis to the US this year) and SEIU (looking for immigrant dues-paying members and organizing Somalis),the Sierra Club cannot claim a neutral position on immigration.

To “change” America into the kind of country Alinskyite Obama wants, one must import millions of poor immigrants to fuel the crisis which in turn brings “change.”  The Sierra Club and NRDC have joined forces with groups advocating open borders, the redistribution of wealth and one-world governance.   Do their nature-loving members really want that?  I doubt it.

Any thoughtful person knows that the greatest threat to the quality of life we have experienced in America is uncontrolled immigration.  See the NumbersUSA clip here and read the CIS report here, if you don’t believe me.   The majority of population growth in the US will be from immigrants between now and 2050 and they will need homes, schools, roads, cars and water among other things—all will strain an already overloaded environmental carrying capacity.

The other day I wrote about how the Sierra Club is part of the Open Borders movement and reader Paul Nachman tells us how that came about in a comment to that post.

From Mr. Nachman:

Inspired by this RRW entry, on 8/30/09 I left Mr. Green the following questions, mentioning that I’ve been a Sierra Club member continuously from 1975:

“In March, 2009 you wrote: ‘The simplest answer to your question about the Sierra Club’s immigration policy is that the Club’s members voted overwhelmingly some time ago to remain neutral on this issue.’ So how about a disquisition by you on how the Club violated its own bylaws in conducting that 1998 election? Then segue over to a review about the implications and consequences of Gelbaum’s $100-million donation.”

Of course, I could supply the answers myself. I just want to see how Mr. Green responds, if he responds at all.

Here are my answers:

1. The Club violated its own bylaws in 1998 by refusing to give our ballot question, which said something like “Should the Club return to its prior-to-1996 policy position that the U.S. should reduce both immigration and natural fertility?” a straight up or down vote.  According to the bylaws, every such question should be presented to the membership in the form of a “Yes” or “No” vote. Instead, the Club paired our question with one of the “leadership’s” own devising to the effect, “Let’s keep the post-1996 policy, which forbids anyone in the Club even talking (while speaking for the Club) about immigration as an environmental issue.” And the ballot simply gave members a choice between those two questions. So, for example, if you disliked **both** approaches, you couldn’t indicate that by voting “No” on each one. This violation of the bylaws wasn’t a close call, either. It’s black and white.

Endorsers for the position that the Club should resume talking about immigration as an environmental problem included world-class luminaries with great enviro credentials, such as David Brower, Brock Evans, Galen Rowell, Gaylord Nelson, and George F. Kennan. Endorsers for the “leadership’s” position included, besides the nonentities on the Club’s national board of directors, anonymities like the head of the Club’s Nebraska chapter, etc.

In the vote, we “insurgents” lost 40% to 60%, a margin narrow enough that it apparently terrified the Club’s “leadership.” So they pulled out all stops in several following Club national elections between 1999 and 2004 to absolutely smear the insurgent candidates who ran for the board. People like Dick Lamm (former Colorado governor, founding member of the NAACP chapter at Berkeley, …) and Prof. Frank Morris (one-time director of the Congressional Black Caucus) were mercilessly smeared as racists, nativists, xenophobes … probably mother- and father-rapers in some circles, too.

2. During the 2004 campaign wherein he ran for the Club’s national board, Dick Lamm (who’d served several terms in the Colorado state senate and three as governor) said that he’d never experienced such a dirty campaign, and he wondered what was behind it — like a lot of money? Turns out, his intuition was dead on. Investor David Gelbaum had promised, around 1995, to donate about $100 million to the Sierra Club, but only if they stopped talking about immigration: “I did tell Carl Pope [Club executive director] in 1994 or 1995 that if they ever came out anti-immigration, they would never get a dollar from me.” If you want to read more about this, start here.   The “funny” thing [ha ha] was that the Club capitulated to a demand made for reasons that had nothing to do with the environment. Gelbaum just said that restricting immigration would dishonor the memory of his immigrant grandfather. How could environmental concerns stand up against a bedrock principle like that?

In fact, with $100 million on the line, the Club can certainly be persuaded to ignore environmental concerns! After all, the organization’s primary mission obviously takes a back seat to the organization’s indefinite perpetuation (the first law of bureaucracies).

Sierra Club motto: “Think globally, and do nothing.”

More on Gelbaum

David Gelbaum gave $33,100 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2008 here.  No surprise!

Then here is a link to an article about Carl Pope stepping down as Executive Director of the Sierra Club but becoming its chairman. It’s the comments to this article that are so interesting– many about the Club being more concerned about raking in the dough then taking care of the environment, with good links for further study.

Learn more about David Gelbaum and his “secretive” Quercus Trust, here.  You will see why someone like Gelbaum would benefit greatly from the Obama Administration and its “green” tecnology.  Gelbaum likely supports the work of the Apollo Alliance—it’s all about money and power afterall.

* Apollo Alliance Board of Directors as of September 1st.  Please note that Van Jones was on this Board until March of this year, here.  So, Sierra Club and NRDC head honchos hang with avowed communist revolutionaries—interesting isn’t it?

Iraqis coming across the Mexican border illegally

This will make you sick!  We are paying the airfare and initial living expenses for tens of thousands of Iraqi refugees entering the US while others are coming across our borders illegally.  Meanwhile, some of those Iraqi refugees in the US legally are complaining that they aren’t getting the stuff they were promised and incredibly want to go home to the Middle East.

This article in the Minnesota Post begins with a sob-story account of why these three Muslim Kurds left wives and small children to fend for themselves in Iraq while they spent their family’s money for an illegal trip that ended in swimming across the Rio Grande.  You can go read their likely fabricated stories, I’m not posting them.

So go the stories of three Iraqi Kurds who fled their homeland and, after a long journey through Mexico and a quick swim across the Rio Grande, are now languishing inside a federal lockup in this small South Texas town.

The journeys of Wshyar Mohammed-Salih, Majeed Aziz-Beirut and Awat Mahmood-Qadir exemplify the rarely examined phenomenon of the illegal movement of Iraqis over the U.S.-Mexico border since the 2003 American invasion.

They were smuggled into the US with the help of Mexico and asylum lawyers must be waiting on the US side to help them apply for asylum.  If granted asylum they get the benefits legal refugees receive.

The men say they paid a Turkish smuggler $20,000 apiece to secure Mexican visas and airfare that would get them within striking distance of the Rio Grande. Court records say they floated across on March 12 north of McAllen. Five months later, they are waiting for a chance to ask a judge for political asylum.

The number of Iraqis showing up legally and forming small communities in American cities has been well-noted, but much less attention is paid to Iraqis who steal over the border.

“I know America has brought a lot of Iraqis here to live,” Majeed said. “I want to be one of them.”

The exact number is not known, though statistics indicate the stream is small but steady. U.S. Border Patrol apprehension numbers obtained by GlobalPost show that about 200 Iraqis have been caught crossing between 2003 and 2008. That doesn’t account for those who got through and were either never caught or got caught later. The Department of Homeland Security reports having located 964 deportable Iraqis in the U.S. between 2003 and 2008. Some 2,278 Iraqis petitioned for asylum during that time.  [these 2,278 must have gotten past the border patrol].

Then they plan to bring the family!

In choosing the U.S. over other destinations, Wshyar said conventional street wisdom held that America offered amazing promises. He hoped America would welcome him with open arms and then he would bring his family over.

The Turkey-Mexico connection:

Wshyar, Majeed and Awat said Murat charged them $20,000 up front with no guarantee they’d ever even see him again. In return, they were promised Mexican entry visas on their passports, airfare to Mexico City, lodging and delivery into America.

To get started they handed Murat their passports. The next day, they were instructed to meet Murat at the Mexican Embassy in Ankara. There, Murat handed them their passports with Mexican visas inside.

From Ankara, the Iraqis flew with Murat to Dubai, then France and finally arrived in Mexico City on Feb. 3. After several fits and starts over the next month, Murat and a Mexican smuggler led the three men at 2 p.m. on March 12 to a small boat on the banks of the Rio Grande. A Mexican man waiting in a truck on the other side was to take them to a hotel and drop them off.

They got caught and now have asylum lawyers probably provided free of charge by some Leftwing Open Borders group.

Who do we blame for this?

Go here to see the list of businesses, unions, churches and other non-profit lobbying groups that support this — illegal entry into the US—and are working with the Obama Administration to open our borders.   They met at the White House last week to get their marching orders.  Here are some of the businesses selling out America on that list:  McDonald’s, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Hewlett Packard, Citigroup, and Oracle.

Did Alinsky have anything to follow his chaos=change strategy? Does Obama?

I don’t want to get into another long and convoluted discussion about Saul Alinsky, Obama’s role model for community organizing, but I also don’t want to lose this American Thinker article by Kyle-Anne Shiver.  So therefore I’m posting this, yet another piece on the community organizing strategy, in our category aptly named “community destabilization.”

Many people who haven’ t read Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” have asked me where did Alinsky say it (the chaos to bring about change) would lead to, to what form of government?  Alinsky never really says, he seems to have reveled in just causing turmoil.  His battle of the “Have-nots” vs. the “Haves” seemed to have no end game.  So, now that Obama has successfully used the strategy to place himself in the Oval Office, what is his end game, what are his goals for America?    Ms. Shiver seems to think he has no real idea how to govern, I say he does.

What happens when the thing a president knows best is a set of tactics designed to take power from the “haves”? When the most highly prized info a president ever garnered could be summed up as nothing better than gaming an electoral system with ACORN pay-for-registration schemes?

What happens when a president is very skilled in deceptively cloaking these less-than-altruistic means in rhetorical “moral garments” and his lies finally start catching up with him, destroying his credibility? When a president has never actually run anything successfully, not even his own paper route or a PTA meeting or a small town’s city council?

What happens when power-grab tactics, taught by a rabble-rousing revolutionary, suddenly catapult a charismatic demagogue into the highest power-perch in the world?

Well, then, Barack Obama’s big, fat governance failure happens.

Granted, Obama seems to be messing up pretty badly (strategically) right now, but not for a second do I think that he hasn’t any idea of what he wants to accomplish.  Although Alinsky may have only described a tactic to destabilize communities, others since then have figured out part II, that is, exactly what to do with that chaos and change.  They are working every day to diminish the US in the world, to knock us down a peg, to open our borders to millions of “Have-nots,” to destroy our patriotic spirit, to make us feel guilty for being a nation of mostly “Haves,” to take away our individual freedom, to tell us we need to be governed by eltitists like Obama, his Ivy-League inner circle, and his friends in big business.  The list goes on and I said I wasn’t going to get into another big yak, but here I am.   Bottomline, each day he takes more of our freedom and places it in the hands of the enlightened few in Washington.  Call it Socialism, Marxism, Statism, or liberal fascism, whatever, but he knows how he wants to govern and he has already made considerable progress.

I think Ms. Shiver demonstrates wishful thinking when she says:

Well, then, Barack Obama’s big, fat governance failure happens

Yesterday I told you about the White House meeting on Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) also known as Amnesty.  Go back now and look at the Alinsky-style agitators (all using immigrants as pawns for their own purposes), those organizations, churches, unions and businesses arrayed against freedom-loving American people and ask yourself if Obama is advancing his agenda or not.    When the Immigration Daily writer made the following point, I thought it was overstating their case, but this morning I have second thoughts.

In the long view of history, immigration reform will likely be a more profound political milestone than health care reform….

By sanctioning law-breaking illegal immigration, Comprehensive Immigration Reform will bring about the end of our borders.  If he accomplishes that and nothing else, his Presidency will have advanced the agenda of the one-worlders beyond their wildest expectations.   Alinsky might have described a strategy to bring about chaos, but Obama knows where he is taking the chaos.
