Hillary goes to Somalia and ticks off Al Shabaab

Well, no that is not the headline in the New York Times that reports glowingly about Secretary of State Clinton’s visit to the Somalia this past week, but it should be.  Clinton promised the tottering government that the US would continue to send all sorts of goodies and weapons to help prop up the “moderate Muslim” government.

I hope, however, that our Homeland Security people are ready for retaliation.  If you will recall the Jihadists claim that the US-backed invading Ethiopian troops entering Somalia were the reason they were fighting—for nationalism, for defense of their homeland.   Garbage of course,  the Ethiopians are gone and they are still fighting.  The Al Shabaab is fighting to create a radical Islamic state in the Horn of Africa.

Anyway, here is how the NYT begins its schmaltzy story:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Somalia’s beleaguered transitional government received desperately needed support on Thursday as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton praised its president as “the best hope we’ve had for some time,” then strongly warned Eritrea to stop supporting insurgents in the country.

Mrs. Clinton met with Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, elected Somalia’s president in January, for more than an hour. She promised more aid, training and equipment, in addition to the millions of dollars’ worth of weapons the United States has recently shipped to his government.

“We need to be there to help them deliver the results of stability to the people of Somalia, who have suffered for so long,” Mrs. Clinton said.

Sheik Sharif can use the help. His moderate Islamist government controls no more than a few city blocks in a country the size of Texas, with extremist Islamist groups, like the Shabab, in charge of much of the rest.

Now, here we go with this head-in-the-sand notion that I witnessed at the Senate Homeland Security hearing last March, that somehow as long as we could keep Al-Qaeda out of Somalia we were safe.  What the hell!  Al-Shabaab is virtually the same organization with the same goals—destroy the West!  And, they are already in the US!  They also have no respect for Obama as we saw when Al-Amriki made fun of Obama’s Cairo speech.

“No doubt that Al Shabab wants to obtain control over Somalia and use it as a base to influence and infiltrate surrounding countries,” she said. “If Al Shabab were to obtain a haven in Somalia which could then attract Al Qaeda and other terrorist actors, it would be a threat to the United States.”

The handshake death sentence.

Then this was a really stupid move on Hillary’s part.  They could have planned ahead of time to not shake hands in public.   Shaking hands with a woman, an infidel woman no less, is strickly forbidden in Shariah law.

Sheik Sharif seemed to bask in the attention. He stood riveted at a lectern next to Mrs. Clinton at an end-of-the-day news conference, wearing a crisp blue suit, an Islamic prayer hat and a lapel pin of joined Somali and American flags.

Before saying goodbye, he vigorously shook Mrs. Clinton’s hand — which caught the eye of one Somali journalist, who asked the president if that was religiously forbidden.

“No, no,” Sheik Sharif said and flashed a nervous grin. “Next question?”

Obama, Hillary, the NYT, the Left, they just don’t get it.  I’m not suggesting we tip-toe around Al Shabaab, just that we do nothing overtly naive and stupid.  All of this—giving weapons and support to the “moderate” government—could have been done with no fanfare and no overt ‘in your face’ gesture like this lovefest/handshake press conference.  Now that Hillary has added more fuel to a raging bonfire, are she and Obama going to do anything more for Somalia—I doubt it.

Obama sends out the SEIU thugs

Remember Saul Alinsky’s mantra,  The ends justify the means, as you read the news last night from Atlas Shrugs—the Obama Administration has unleashed its thugs (via an e-mail command two days ago) from the likes of SEIU (Service Employees International Union) to disrupt town hall meetings on health care and some have turned violent.

If you are wondering how that topic is at all related to RRW, it is.  We’ve written extensively on ‘community destabilization’ —the basic tenet of community organizing.  I’ve told you that I believe, for instance, that the SEIU is behind training and organizing Somalis who disrupt workplaces.  The SEIU’s drive to bring in ever-increasing numbers of immigrants is to import poor and angry people who will demand more welfare, create chaos and in turn bring about “change,” not to mention join the union and vote Democratic.

The Leftwing-driven Open Borders crowd controls the immigration issue, the volag leaders are in on it and the true humanitarians concerned with the plight of the world’s poor are their dupes.

Back to the health care violence instigated by Leftist agitators:  Obama, SEIU, ACORN, Wade Rathke, George Soros are thrilled by this turn of events.  The more chaos the better!  Next thing you know Obama will send in the troops!

Please read through our ‘community destabilization’ category and the strategy will become clear, or search our site for SEIU, the Tides Foundation, George Soros, Saul Alinsky, Cloward and Piven, and Wade Rathke to start your research.

Further information from Judy:   If you don’t believe me, see this heavily linked (head spinning) article at Frontpage magazine today by Ben Johnson about the extensive Soros- funded network the average American has to contend with at townhall meetings on health care this month.  Mr. Johnson ends with this:

“….as common men and women are proving at Congressional townhall meetings, on radio talk shows, and in diners across the country, those not on George Soros’s payroll are distinctly unhappy with this proposal.”

I think Obama’s march to socialism has met the resistance!

Batch of Uighurs ready to go to Palau

Here is a Uighur update thanks to Blulitespecial.   It appears that some of these Chinese Muslims from Gitmo, once destined to be resettled in Virginia, have agreed they will try Palau afterall.

KOROR, Palau – Some Chinese Muslims still detained at Guantanamo Bay have overcome reservations about being sent to the remote Pacific nation of Palau, and a final deal on their relocation was close, a lawyer for two of them said Wednesday.

The Uighur detainees met with U.S. State Department officials on Monday and informed the diplomats they are now willing to move to Palau, said George Clarke, a lawyer acting for two of the inmates who took part in the talks.

Apparently their initial hesitancy was because they figured that the Chincse government could just come and get them there.  I don’t know what the Obama Administration has promised them,  maybe their very own Secret Service agents for protection.

The 13 Uighurs, Turkic Muslims from the far west of China, have been held by the United States since their capture in Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2001. The Pentagon determined last year that they were not “enemy combatants,” but they have been in legal limbo ever since.

China considers them separatists and has demanded they be sent home for trial. U.S. officials have said the men could be executed if they are returned to China and have refused to send them there.

Of course, one of the questions on Blulitespecial’s mind, and mine too, is:  What is going to keep them in Palau?

Claiming they are terrorists, Obama Administration no better than Bush on “material support” ban

That is the gist of this article from McClatchy yesterday.  Writing about the material support of terrorism ban, the reporter tells us that the Obama Administration has not taken any steps to ease the rules for immigrants and refugees who may have been forced to help a group deemed a terrorist group at some point in their lives.

I told you about this issue here more than a year ago.  In that post I said I really didn’t understand the issue.  I still don’t.   The problem I have is that in each of these stories we hear from the human rights advocates that the Dept. of Homeland Security is acting frivolously (even now under Obama) and they use cases that are pretty egregious to illustrate their point, but we never hear Homeland Security’s side of the particular case.   I’m thinking there must be more to the story.

From McClatchy:

Alkarim’s [Iraqi artist they are using for illustration] problems have their roots in post-Sept. 11 anti-terrorism laws that the Obama and Bush administrations vowed to fix.

Despite that pledge, the number of people who’ve been told their requests for refugee status, asylum or green cards won’t be processed because of the laws has risen from 5,304 in December to 7,286 in June.

The broad language of the Patriot Act and other laws bars refugees and asylum seekers from living and working in the U.S. if they supported or were members of an armed group in their homelands. They’re considered terrorists or supporters of terrorists even if they opposed dictators or helped the U.S. government.

Although Congress has attempted to give the executive branch the power to grant waivers in such cases, the Obama administration, like the Bush administration before it, has yet to set up an efficient way to handle them, refugee advocates say.

“As far as I can tell, the situation has only grown worse,” said Thomas Ragland, a former Justice Department lawyer attorney who now represents several immigrants affected by the laws. Ragland’s clients include an Iraqi, an Ethiopian, a Nepali, and a Burmese.

Department of Homeland Security officials in charge of reviewing the matter declined a request for an interview.

Matthew Chandler, a DHS spokesman, said the department has granted more than 10,500 waivers to people impacted by the laws, proof that the cases aren’t being ignored.
