Bosnian Refugees Bail Out of St. Louis

The refugee industry is everywhere these days claiming that one of the most important reasons to import hundreds of thousands of refugees is that they revitalize crumbling cities.

We need refugees to save dying cities!

In fact,. as I write this US refugee resettlement contractors, hoping to pressure Donald Trump to set a high ceiling for refugee admissions for FY2020 (which begins October 1 of this year), are hammering the big lie—refugees save dying cities.

Bashing Trump….

Here is just one example, the Washington Post recently published an opinion piece by two leaders of World Relief (one of nine federally-funded refugee contractors) claiming just that and saying the Trump is hurting cities by reducing the numbers of impoverished refugees being admitted to the US.

But, get this, the New York Times ,in an extensive expose in August, tells us that yes, Bill Clinton’s Bosnians did bring some economic revitalization to St. Louis, but it didn’t last.  The primary reason for the unfolding failure—Democrat-run cities are crime infested.  (There has been no Republican mayor in St. Louis since 1949.)

The New York Times:

‘It’s Not the Same’: Why War Refugees Who Helped Revive St. Louis Are Leaving

[Article opens with some economic success stories.  BTW, a large number of Bosnians are Muslims.]

For St. Louis, a city that had bled population for decades — it had about 400,000 residents in 1990, down from more than 800,000 in the 1950s — the influx of what was estimated to be the largest population of Bosnians outside Bosnia seemed to work magic. For the first time in generations, the urban narrative of abandoned houses, stagnant business and vanishing people appeared to be changing.

But it didn’t last.

Today, St. Louis, like some other Midwestern cities, is battling a new round of contraction, with a stagnant economy, challenged schools and one of the highest murder rates in the country. And over the past few years, the people who fled brutal violence and concentration camps in their homeland and created Little Bosnia have been fleeing again, to the suburbs.

The beginning of the end for the Bosnian community of St. Louis and the melting pot myth was the murder of a Bosnian young man by a gang of thugs.  See my 2014 post about the murder.

Black and Hispanic teens sentenced to long prison terms for Begic’s murder. The NYT never mentions who the killers were.

A deadly hammer attack in Bevo Mill — in which Zemir Begic, a young Bosnian man out with his fiancée, was killed by four teenagers — shook the community in 2014. Bosnians marched in the streets, arguing that the police had not done enough to keep the neighborhood safe.

[….]

Similar stories have been playing out in American cities since the Baby Boom decades of the 20th century, and have proven hard to reverse. After mass flights to the suburbs, even heavy investment in urban centers, with shiny new business districts and rapidly changing downtowns, have often failed to help cities, particularly in the Midwest, replace the residents they had lost.

In St. Louis the process has been particularly painful, because the people who were fleeing were the very ones who had been seen as saviors.

[….]

At its peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Bosnian population, including American-born Bosnians, reached about 70,000 in the city of St. Louis and the surrounding county, according to the International Institute of St. Louis, a charitable agency that sponsors many of the region’s refugees. Now, with some Bosnians having left the state entirely, the agency estimates that the figure is less than 50,000.

The International Institute of St. Louis is a subcontractor of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), but you can bet USCRI is still peddling the myth that refugees will save dying cities—maybe for a few years in the case of industrious Bosnians, but it won’t happen at all with extremely impoverished Africans.

Des Moines Imam’s sex abuse trial underway

Imam Spahic’s wife testified that he is a good man who has memorized the entire Koran!

Update February 17th:  Spahic found not-guilty, herevia Creeping Sharia.

Here we go again, another expensive ‘refugee’ criminal trial replete with taxpayer-funded interpreters as well!

We previously told you about the Bosnian Imam’s case here and here. This is an update ‘pungentpeppers’ found for us yesterday.

And, if you are interested in how all those Bosnian Muslims got to Iowa, check out Bill Clinton and his meatpacker friends here.*

From the Des Moines Register:

A Polk County District Court judge halted questioning over a sex abuse accuser’s mental health Wednesday during a Des Moines Islamic leader’s trial.

Two women, a mother and her 18-year-old daughter, who allege they were touched inappropriately by imam Nermin Spahic, 41, during a healing ritual testified in court on Wednesday.

[….]

The two women who have accused Spahic were among a string of witnesses who testified on the third day of the trial, including Spahic’s wife. Throughout testimony, Spahic sat with his attorneys and an interpreter, taking notes on a notepad.

During her testimony, the 18-year-old woman’s mother told jurors she was “in shock” after her encounter with Spahic.

More refugee mental health problems?

The woman, who came to the United States from Bosnia with her husband and daughter in 1997, said she took her daughter to see Spahic at the Islamic and Cultural Center Bosniak in Des Moines. The woman wanted the imam to pray over her daughter to help relieve her of severe mood swings and problems with cutting herself. However, she and her daughter were not regular members of the mosque and had never met Spahic.

So instead of praying at the mosque, the Imam was invited home where the women learned it was necessary to get naked in order to find those pesky spirits.

In a 9 p.m. ritual at the apartment the woman and her daughter shared in Johnston, Spahic allegedly had the 18-year-old woman lie nude on her bed while he rubbed cumin oil onto her skin. Spahic’s defense attorney has said the ceremony in Bosnian Islamic tradition is designed to locate “evil spirits” in a person’s body.

Spahic touched the 18-year-old woman’s genital area, breasts and buttocks during the ritual, she said in court Wednesday. Spahic asked her if she was “calm” during the ritual and she lied to the imam in hopes of ending the ritual, she told jurors.

“I only lied and said that so he would get out of my room,” she said.

The mother testified through an interpreter that once Spahic finished the ritual with her daughter, he asked her to participate as well.

And, since her daughter was so traumatized the Mom said, sure let me try it!  Read on!

A police officer who grew up in Bosnia testified that he had never heard of such a ritual.  There is something very fishy about this whole thing.  Or, am I mistaken and this is one of those beautiful things ethnic diversity brought to “welcoming” Polk County, Iowa.

It has entertainment value, I suppose, if it weren’t for the cost this trial dumps on the local taxpayers!

* Question for Wyoming?  Do you need cheap labor this badly?

Des Moines Imam, Bosnian, claims arrest violates his religious freedom

Imam Nermin Spahic on trial for sexual abuse. Trial begins on December 2.

This story is a few days old and I saw it reported by several bloggers so didn’t think it was necessary to post here too, but on second thought decided it was best to keep our coverage of Imam Spahic up-to-date.

We told you about the arrest here in August, where we further discussed how Iowa came to have so many Bosnian Muslim refugees (thank Bill Clinton and his meatpacker buddies).

From the Des Moines Register:

An attorney for a Des Moines Islamic leader charged with sexual abuse and exploitation is asking a judge to drop two of the charges, arguing that they violate the man’s religious freedom.

In a motion to dismiss filed last week in Polk County District Court, Des Moines defense attorney Angela Campbell argued that Nermin Spahic, 40, had never met the two women who accused him of sexual abuse before the day of a religious ceremony that led to his arrest. The motion also says that Spahic never claimed to offer “mental health services” or counseling.

Spahic faces one count of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist. He was arrested in August after a 42-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter told police that Spahic sexually assaulted them during a religious ceremony.

Prosecutors:  “Voodoo priest”

The woman on Aug. 12 called Spahic to her house in Johnston for help with her daughter, who reportedly suffered personal issues, including depression and drug use, police and court papers said. Spahic allegedly performed an Islamic ceremony that involved “chanting and rubbing the body with oil,” court papers said.

In one section of the sealed minutes of evidence, prosecutors “inappropriately refer to Mr. Spahic as a ‘Voodoo priest,’” according to the motion. At the time of his arrest Spahic served as the imam – a leader of Islamic prayer services – at the Des Moines Islamic and Cultural Center Bosniak on Lower Beaver Road.

Bosnian man at center of airport bomb scare; was he a refugee?

Is Zeljko Causevic a refugee? Only the US State Department and his federal resettlement contractor know for sure!

We brought tens of thousands of Bosnians into the US in the wake of Bill Clinton’s phoney-baloney war and they keep turning up in the most interesting places (check our archive on Bosnians, here, and see what I mean!).

This story from Jacksonville, FL yesterday is another good catch by ‘pungentpeppers.’  From AP at NPR:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities said a man arrested at Jacksonville International Airport told security screeners he had a bomb in his backpack but they only found a luggage scale with a microchip inside, along with a remote control device he called a “detonator.”

Zeljko Causevic, 39, was booked into jail early Wednesday and was being held without bond on charges that included making a false report about planting a bomb or explosive and manufacturing, possessing, selling or delivering a hoax bomb, according to an arrest report.

The arrest report indicates Causevic approached a TSA agent Tuesday and said he had a bomb in his bag. The TSA agents notified authorities. Airport spokesman Michael Stewart said Causevic was detained between 5:30 and 6 p.m. The airport was evacuated and flights were stopped before reaching the gates. Passengers were displaced for nearly five hours.

Causevic was scheduled to appear in bond court in Jacksonville at 1 p.m. An arrest report indicates he is originally from Bosnia.

All I can say is, it is a good thing we have Obamacare and it will take care of all these mentally ill immigrants and refugees.

Iowa: Bosnian Imam charged in sexual assault

Monday morning diversity-is-strength alert!

How many times do we hear that the ethnic and religious diversity refugees bring to your town strengthens your community?  How do the open-borders pushers and the religious Left get away with that mumbo-jumbo time after time.   Here is yet another story that puts a lie to the myth.

From the Des Moines Register last week.  What “ritual?” An Islamic “marriage?”

Mugshot:  Bosnian Imam Nermin Spahic arrested a week ago today on sexual assault charges.

Johnston police arrested a Muslim imam who serves at the Des Moines Islamic and Cultural Center Bosniak after he reportedly sexually abused two women during a ritual late Monday night.

Nermin Spahic, 40, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual exploitation by a clergy and transported to Polk County Jail, according to a press release from the Johnston Police Department.

Spahic’s arrest came after police were called to a house in Johnston late Monday night where Spahic was allegedly involved in a “ceremonial ritual” with an 18-year-old woman and her 42-year-old mother, according to the release.  The woman told police Spahic sexually assaulted them both.

Police were called to the house just after 10 p.m. on Monday after receiving a report of the abuse. The caller reported receiving texts from the 18-year-old woman that she and her mother were both being sexually assaulted by a man in their house, according to the release. [Are the women refugees as well?—ed]

[…..]

The mother had asked for Spahic’s help and guidance on ”personal issues” the daughter was dealing with. Spahic arrived at the house and told the women the religious ceremony would help the daughter. Then, during the ceremony, Spahic assaulted them, the two women told police.

Why so many Bosnians in Iowa?  Is history being revised?

The Imam celebrating EID in 2007

The answer is what we reported here in 2008Bill Clinton resettled 80,000 Bosnian Muslims in Iowa and other Midwestern states in the wake of his phony war in Bosnia to supply cheap labor to his meat-packing buddies.   How do you think Hillary got so close to Tyson Foods back in the day!

And, why do you think the meat packers are so interested in S. 744, the Gang of Eight bill, but I am digressing!

This is what we learned in 2008 from a 2001 Agribusiness newsletter (IBP, Iowa Beef Processors, was the largest meatpacker in the US, but was bought in 2001 by Tyson Foods, here).

“And IBP’s good fortune didn’t end there,” Limbacher continues, “turns out the Clinton administration’s Bosnian refugee resettlement efforts also helped to keep labor costs down. Since 1995, for instance, the town of Waterloo, Iowa — population 65,000 – has been swamped with 6,000 Bosnian refugees, many of whom wound up working for the No. 1 local employer, IBP.”

Until recently [2001—ed], IBP’s 2,000-strong Waterloo workforce was one-third Bosnian. Most refugee families that settle there have a family member who at one time or another worked for the meatpacking giant. In fact, the meatpacking industry has a history of recruiting on the ground in Yugoslavia. But during the Clinton years, companies like IBP haven’t had to travel that far.

Since 1995, the Clinton INS has resettled over 80,000 Balkan refugees, mainly Bosnian Muslims, primarily in America’s Midwest. The immigrant deluge has earned Iowa the distinction of being the only state in the union with its own refugee bureau.

Read my whole post back in 2008, here.

Revising history!  In searching around for more on the alleged sexual pervert Imam I came across this story which includes the photo of Imam Nermin Spahic on a better day, and quotes another Nermin on Bosnians in Iowa.  They didn’t choose Iowa!  Bill Clinton, his head of ORR at the time, Lavinia Limon, and the meatpackers need for cheap immigrant labor chose Iowa for them!  You, the US taxpayer, supplemented (and still do!) the low meat packer wages with social services and education for the kids.

Many of the more than 12,000 Bosniaks living in Des Moines chose the area because the weather reminded them of home and the schools and businesses gave their families opportunities they couldn’t find in Bosnia, said Nermin Sehovic of Windsor Heights, who helped organize the event and is a founder of the Islamic and Cultural Center Bosniak in Des Moines.

The weather brought them to Iowa!  What a crock!

The second photo (above) is from the 2007 story, the same one that said the weather brought them to Iowa, so when the Des Moines Register piece of last week was written they could have found out that the arrested Imam had been at the Center for at least 6 plus years.  But, I wondered why it mattered if he was a new Imam or a long-time Imam.

Ready for a laugh?  Here is the caption on the 2007 photo:

Imam Nermin Spahic talked about the importance of the family, building the Bosnian community, and being part of American society
