They have overloaded San Diego with refugees and now they are boo-hooing!

Of course this whine-fest is for one of two reasons (or both at once!).  The Refugee Resettlement Industry wants more of your money for programs (welfare, housing, medical care etc.) and because San Diego and other big cities have foolishly been so “welcoming” and consequently overloaded, that the industry now has a big excuse to resettle refugees to small (newly targeted) cities throughout America including Reno, NV, Rutland, VT, Charleston, WV, Ithaca, NY, Fayetteville, AR and Missoula, MT (more?).

Refugees_Welcome_2015_IRC_SanDiego
International Rescue Committee is one of 4 major resettlement contractors responsible for overloading San Diego! They are the same agency opening up shop in Missoula, MT http://www.rescue.org/us-program/us-san-diego-ca/thank-you-irc-san-diego

When the Refugee Act of 1980 was debated in Congress in the late 1970’s, its chief sponsors, including Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden, promised America that the program was not meant to bring more POVERTY to our cities.  Well, that is exactly what it has done and is increasingly doing as Obama is now upping the numbers more and more each year.  (He will have one more shot for FY2017 to say how many come and unless we elect Trump in November, there is no one with any guts to pull back on Obama’s last determination! And, surely Hillary will just be an extension of Obama and the wimps in Congress will do nothing).
From the San Diego Union Tribune (hat tip: Joanne) where we learn that San Diego County gets 3,000 refugees a year!
panalogo_220x209_0

Refugees who are resettled in San Diego County often face overwhelmingly high housing costs, poor living conditions, emotional distress and limited access to health care, according to a new report by the Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans.  [And, the do-gooders never ask themselves if they are really doing humanitarian work for refugees or only to make themselves feel better!–ed]

The community organization in City Heights surveyed an estimated 500 refugees and their children in 20 neighborhoods in the county. Participants represented about 13 countries in Africa and Asia.

Data in the report focused on refugees from East Africa, Thailand and Burma because the organization has deep ties in these communities and limited resources to expand the research, according to group leaders.

Among the findings outlined in the preliminary report:

▪ Poor English proficiency and little to no education poses a significant barrier for employment

▪ East African refugees earn a mean monthly household income of $1,774, while migrants from Burma and Thailand earn a mean monthly income of $1,216.

▪ Only 24 percent of East African men and 35 percent of East African women reported having a personal physician. About half of East African participants said they hadn’t had a routine checkup in the past year. [So we don’t know if their latent TB is becoming active TB—ed]

Chipotle Mexican Grill 'partners' with refugee contractor IRC

chipotleOne more reason to drive right by your local Chipotle restaurant.  They fund the Left!  The Wiser Shopper sent us this information.
Chipotle gave the International Rescue Committee (IRC) $500,000 in one recent year (see here). They also gave The Nature Conservancy (an organization I know an awful lot about and it isn’t good!), $100,000 in another year.
We have an extensive archive on the IRC, click here.   Especially don’t miss the latest news (not reported by the mainstream media) that the IRC has had federal funding suspended while being investigated for corruption in Turkey.

International Rescue Committee expanding, Richmond added to sites in Virginia

IRC logo
Warning! If you go to the IRC’s webpage you will notice that you are being followed henceforth with a ‘cookie’ with this logo and a plea for money.

This is just a quick mention, way too much happening today!
We have been telling you about how the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program is rapidly expanding to new sites—Rutland, VT, Missoula, MT, Reno, NV, Ithaca, NY and so on.  These new offices are to accommodate the ever-expanding program because Obama has said we will take 85,000 refugees this year, by September 30th and 100,000 in FY2017.
Here the IRC toots its horn about its new office in Richmond, Virginia.

If you are a new reader, you probably don’t know that the IRC is being investigated for fraud in Turkey where it works to ‘help’ Syrian refugees.

If you have never seen the list of resettlement sites in the US, click here to learn if your city is on the list. The newest ones are not listed yet.
You will see that there are already a couple of contractors working in Richmond, why do they need more?
It is not too late to weigh in and send (polite and professional) testimony to the US State Department today, here.

Federal contractor IRC and Maryland Dems pressuring governor to "welcome" Syrians to the state

Update:  Thanks to Richard at Blue Ridge Forum you can now see who the Maryland reps are who support the placement of Syrian Muslim refugees in Maryland.  See here.  So what are the Republicans going to do to come to the governor’s defense?
Even though Governor Larry Hogan can’t (as things stand now) stop the resettlement of refugees to Maryland, a group of Maryland Democrats are pressuring him to publicly welcome them.

Jamin_Raskin
The letter was initiated by Jamie Raskin (D) running for Congress using this as one more campaign stunt. But, voters make note that Raskin is advocating for more Muslims to be placed in Maryland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Raskin

And this is really stinky timing for the refugee pushers because the lead agency behind the pro-Syrian Muslim refugee lobbying campaign is none other than the International Rescue Committee that made big news yesterday because it is under investigation for fraud in Turkey where it is supposedly helping Syrian refugees.
If you are a new reader there is something you need to know when reading this story.
Governors do not have the power (yet) to stop the placement of third worlders into their states.
However, they do have the power to withdraw the state from the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program as the governors of Kansas and New Jersey did in April. Although it causes bureaucratic confusion and brings media attention (both good things!), the gesture is meaningless unless the governor then files a States’ rights lawsuit that is waiting and ready to go at the Thomas More Law Center.
Frankly I don’t see Maryland’s Republican governor with that much gumption to protect the taxpayers of the state. I hope he proves me wrong!

As I mentioned above, be sure you read yesterday’s post on the corruption investigation of the IRC which is one of the primary refugee resettlement contractors operating in Maryland.

So below is a bit of the news yesterday at the Washington Post (emphasis is mine):

Several dozen Maryland state lawmakers, including Democratic House nominee Jamie B. Raskin, have written Gov. Larry Hogan (R), urging him to endorse the settlement of Syrian refugees in the state.

Hogan joined other governors last year in saying he would oppose the entry of refugees unless the federal government could provide specific assurances that they are properly vetted and do not pose a security threat.

State Department officials have said repeatedly that all refugees — including Syrians — undergo rigorous screening before being granted refugee status.

IRC Maryland
Ruben Chandrasekar runs the Maryland office of the IRC and just yesterday it was revealed that his organization was being investigated for corruption involving Syrian refugees in Turkey.

But Hogan spokesman Matt Clark said Wednesday that the governor’s position has not changed. “To my knowledge, the federal government has not provided any additional information on changes . . . in the process,” Clark said.

[….]

The letter was initiated by Raskin, a state senator from Montgomery County and the Democratic nominee to succeed outgoing U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D), and Dels. Brooke E. Lierman (D-Baltimore) and David Moon (D-Montgomery).

[….]

Ruben Chandrasekar, an official of the International Rescue Committee in Baltimore, said the agency has resettled 60 Syrian refugees in Maryland in the past two years and is prepared to place as many as 100 in the coming year. [99% of the Syrian refugees entering the US now are Muslims—ed]

“If President Obama follows through on his promise to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees, we hope to have a very busy summer,” said Chandrasekar, whose organization worked closely with the advocacy groups that spearheaded the letter from lawmakers to Hogan.

Yeh, I will bet the IRC worked closely.  They are paid by the head to resettle refugees into your towns and cities and it is in their financial best interests to keep the spigot open.
Most refugees in Maryland go to Baltimore or Silver Spring, but hundreds of others are scattered around the state. Most recently a resettlement contractor was making inquiries in Hagerstown again.
If any reader finds a copy of Raskin’s letter, send it my way! We do need to publish the names of all who signed it.
And, don’t hold your breath that the Washington Post, which is happy to pimp for Raskin, will report on the corruption scandal surrounding the IRC!  The alternative media is on the story however, here Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily digs deeper.

Major US refugee contractor, International Rescue Committee, embroiled in corruption probe

Update May 13th: Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily has much more on this probe.
Gee, I wonder if this is why its CEO David Miliband (a Brit!) has his toe back in UK political waters (here two days ago!). Is he about to jump ship and go home?

Miliband and Hillary 'vibrant'
Miliband says he loves her smile!

I haven’t seen this story yet in the American press, seems we always have to depend on the British press to inform us of unsavory news involving refugees and the contractors the federal government hires to take care of them.
Thanks to reader Ann for sending this story from The Telegraph (emphasis is mine):

The United States is investigating an international aid group headed by David Miliband over allegations of corruption in projects intended to help Syrian civilians and refugees.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of three international groups to have had millions of pounds in funding withdrawn over alleged bid-rigging and bribery.

Mr Miliband, a former foreign secretary, was appointed president and chief executive of the organisation in 2013, following his exit from Westminster politics.

David Miliband and Soros
Miliband/IRC awards George Soros for his work!

USAID’s Office of the Inspector General confirmed on Friday that 14 entities and individuals had been suspended as part of a “complex investigation into cross-border aid programs”.

This includes International Medical Corps, one of the largest providers of medical aid to Syrians, and GOAL, an Irish NGO.

Allegations relate to the organisations systematically overpaying for goods in Turkey. A senior USAID official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said private Turkish companies had sold cut-rate blankets and other basic materials at vastly inflated prices and pocketed the difference.

[….]

“What became clear in the course of this investigation was this was a pretty sophisticated operation,” the USAID official said.

[….]

The IRC, which has an annual budget of £350 million,*** relies heavily on government funding from Britain and the United States.

An IRC spokesman told The Times: “We are fully engaged and working with USAID on this issue.”

miliband and Obama
Miliband and Obama are on the same page—bring in the Muslim refugees! Except Obama isn’t going fast enough for Miliband.

Two IRC staff members were dismissed in January after it was found that they had accepted money from suppliers in return for awarding them contracts.

Continue reading where we learn that the Irish aid agency gets US dollars too!
Just a reminder that David Miliband was one of the first contractor CEOs to call for Obama to admit 65,000 Syrians by the end of his term.  Miliband later upped that number to 100,000.  See our huge archive on Miliband by clicking here.
And, if these contractor names have you confused, it is the IRC that is opening an office to bring Syrians to Missoula, MT (among other places).

***Let’s talk about their money for a minute!

Go to the most recent Form 990 for the IRC by clicking here.
Scroll down to page 9 where we learn that the IRC had a revenue stream that year of over a half a billion dollars ($562,021,607) and $378,337,440 came from “government grants.”  That is you—the US taxpayer!
Doing well by doing good…..
And, if you want to really get your blood boiling scroll through a few more pages until you reach the staff salaries where no less than 11 staff people make over $200,000 a year.  Perhaps the most necessary staffer they have right now—-their General Counsel—makes a bit less at $195,427.
Then look at the line for Miliband—-over $300,000 in cash, but it says “annual compensation $600,000.”  What is up with that?  Are they paying his NYC housing on the side somehow?
And, to wrap up with adding more insult to injury—their former CEO George Rupp is still pulling in annual compensation of $338,855 in this Form 990 that ended September 30, 2014.
I wonder what the underlings toiling away in resettlement offices across the US are making? What is Miss Mary going to make in Missoula?

Go here to see where the IRC is placing refugees in the US.  Besides Missoula, MT they have four new offices.
