Aunt Zeituni receives Muslim burial in Kenya

I guess you could call this a wrap-up to the controversial story of Barack Obama’s favorite aunt who lived illegally in the US on the fruits of the American taxpayer, and who, near the end of her life, was granted asylum so she could escape persecution and wouldn’t have to return to that evil Kenya (one of Africa’s few relatively safe and stable countries).   She is back in Kenya now.

Malik Obango (Barack’s half brother and best man) reported that Auntie was buried with her Muslim relatives. Photo: http://thecount.com/2013/03/07/president-obama-brother-loses-bid-for-political-office/

My original plan was to post this yesterday, Mothers Day, to tell you something I had never heard before—she had four children in Kenya and a man claiming to be her husband, so why the heck did she leave her children and live on welfare in Boston?—and, ultimately to be snubbed there by her dear nephew (he went golfing and did not attend her US memorial service).

From Standard Media Kenya:

Kisumu, Kenya: Zeituni Onyango Obama, the United States President Barack Obama’s aunt, has been laid to rest in Kisumu under the Muslim religion traditions. This is despite calls by a Homabay resident who had wanted to bury her body claiming she was his wife.

Recently, Ebel Mboya Okoko, a resident of Kanyadhiang Village in Homabay County claimed that Zeituni was his legal wife and wanted to bury her remains at his home under the Luo tradition.

Until Monday, Okoko still had hopes of burying the body despite what he termed his in-laws’ family denying him the rights.

He said efforts to meet Mama Sara Obama or other Zeituni’s close relatives to discuss the whereabouts of Zeituni’s funeral had failed.

Last week a report attributed to President Barack Obama’s half-brother Malik Abong’o, that the remains of Ms Zeituni would be buried in a Muslim cemetery in Kisumu prompted Okoko to seek legal redress to the matter.

Read on to learn more about her children and this dysfunctional family—not every one is granted asylum in America as a way of escaping screwed up relatives!

Minnesota: Somalis protest Kenyan crackdown on terrorists; want US to intervene

Kenya may be one of the only countries in Africa which has a will for self-preservation and so they have begun to clean-up some hotbeds of anti-Kenyan activity, especially neighborhoods associated with the Westgate Mall slaughter by a band of Somali al-Shabaab terrorists*** last September.

Community organizer, Jibril Afyare (center?), led 100 picketers in St. Paul condemning Kenya.

However, the Minnesota Somali “community” apparently doesn’t think Kenya has the right to save itself and agitators there, including newly elected city council member Abdi Warsame, are calling on the US government to step in. They say they want “justice.”

From MinnPost:

After members of the Twin Cities’ Somali-American community said their afternoon prayers Friday, they gathered at the state Capitol to express solidarity and demand justice for relatives in Kenya.

Reports from human rights groups, news stories and communications with relatives describe abuses against Somalis in Eastleigh, a suburb of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi that is known for its large Somali population.

As part of an ongoing counter-terrorism crackdown, Kenyan security forces launched house-to-house searches in Eastleigh last Monday.

US government should intervene in Kenyan affairs says community organizer.

Nearly 100 picketers joined the Friday demonstration in St. Paul, condemning actions by Kenyan government and demanding the release of those detained.

Jibril Afyare, an activist who organized the demonstration, said the event was meant to raise awareness and ask the U.S. government to intervene and stand with Somalis in Kenya.

Warsame:  Somalis in prison everywhere!

Minneapolis City Council member Abdi Warsame, Somali-born with personal ties to Somalis in Kenya, was among the elected officials who attended Friday’s Capitol gathering.

Addressing the crowd in Somali, Warsame said: “Somalis everywhere are in prisons. We’re in prison in Hennepin County. We’re in prison in Nairobi. We’re in prison in Mogadishu.”

LOL! Maybe there is a reason for that!

As I said the other day, why don’t young, strong, educated Somalis like Afyare and Warsame go back to Somalia and save their country from further ruin instead of flapping their gums from the safety of Minnesota.  I think I know why—it is not about Somalia.  They are more interested in Al-Hijra—the Islamic doctrine of immigration—for both Kenya and America.

*** Remember readers that there are Somalis in prison in the US for sending financial support to al-Shabaab.

Minneapolis to celebrate Somali independence day—July 1

The newly elected Minneapolis City Council member, Abdi Warsame, has been a busy guy lately.  On Friday he presented a resolution to the city council to proclaim July 1 ‘Somali American Day’ to celebrate the African country’s independence from Italy and the UK.   (And we all know how well that worked out!).  Then he lead a protest against Kenya.

MN Governor Mark Dayton congratulates Abdi Warsame.

From Somali Current:

Somalicurrent – The Minneapolis City Council voted Friday to mark July 1 as “Somali American day” in the city, which is home to many immigrants from the east African country.

The date holds significance among Somalis, who celebrate independence day on July 1 both in Somalia and the United States diaspora.

Abdi Warsame, the first Somali-American on the Minneapolis City Council, praised the resolution at a council meeting on Friday. A gathering of Somali-American men were in attendance.

“This is a very important resolution for me,” Warsame said. “And it actually came from the elders and the community leaders who wanted to highlight the contributions, the culture, the values of the Somali-American community, which is a large and growing population in the city of Minneapolis.”

The July 1 independence day commemorates when the Somali Republic was created by uniting two territories previously controlled by Italy and Britain.

Minneapolis Somalis protest against Kenya!

Meanwhile, as we know, Kenya is trying to save itself from Somali terrorists (remember the Westgate Mall slaughter) and Minneapolis Somalis are protesting against Kenya.

And, look who is denying that Somalis had anything to do with the Mall attack—Abdi Warsame—appropriately reported at Al-Shahid network:

Somalis live in Minnesota (USA) protested against Kenyan brutal arresting of Somali community in Nairobi, especially in Eastli village.

With especial interview to voice of America Somali service, Minneapolis council member, Abdi Warsame, who hails from Somalia, has told that hundreds of Somalis in Minnesota marched the streets for showing their refusal of Kenyan indiscriminate harassment against Somalis.

“We can’t bear this twenty first century that our citizens are harassed. I am calling Kenya to stop this brutal action. Somalis are not terrorists. They are not responsible the terrorist attacks in the country”, Abdi Warsame, the first Somali man who hold such post in American territory said.

If Warsame really wanted to help “his country,” he could return to Africa and help Somalia lift itself out of squalor and chaos rather than run his mouth from the safety of Minneapolis!

For new readers,  Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis?  Thank the US State Department and its contractors:  Catholic Charities, Lutheran Immigration Services and World Relief (facilitators of Al-Hijra).

Kenya orders all Somalis to return to refugee camps immediately…

…..expects “human rights” groups (like Human Rights Watch) to wail and moan!

Kenyan Interior Minister Joseph ole Lenku: All Somalis must return to camps! http://news.yahoo.com/photos/kenyas-interior-minister-lenku-speaks-during-news-conference-photo-192315831.html

The latest demand from the Kenyan government comes in the wake of an attack by Somalis in Mombasa which killed six Christian worshipers on Sunday (Bibles lying in pools of blood).

From Mareeg:

Kenya has ordered all Somali refugees living in urban areas to return to their camps in a bid to end attacks by armed groups carried out in retaliation for Kenya’s intervention in neighbouring Somalia.

Kenyans were asked to report any refugees or illegal immigrants outside the overcrowded camps – Dadaab in the east and Kakuma in the northwest – to the police, according to the AFP news agency.

All refugees residing outside the designated refugee camps of Kakuma and Dadaab are hereby directed to return to their respective camps with immediate effect.

Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku:

“Any refugee found flouting this directive will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku said in a statement.

Sunday’s attack, in the Likoni district near Mombasa, came amid heightened warnings of a threat of violence, especially from the Somali al-Shabab armed group, in Kenya despite boosted security in major cities.

Lenku issued the order citing ”emergency security challenges” in Kenyan towns, but the move is likely to be criticised by rights groups which have discouraged similar actions in the past.

Refugee registration centers to be closed as well.

Lenku also said all refugee registration centres in Nairobi, Mombasa, Isiolo to the north and Nakuru in the northwest would be closed. He urged Kenyans to report refugees or illegal immigrants found outside the camps.

Al-Shabaab (aka al-Shabab) strikes again:

The Somali group al-Shabab and its sympathisers have carried out several attacks in Kenya, including at the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi last year in which at least 67 people were killed.

On Sunday, gunmen killed six worshippers in a church near the coastal city of Mombasa. Last week, police said they had arrested two men found to have two large bombs in a car which they intended to use in Mombasa.

At least one African country is trying to save itself and stand up to the bullies (both Somali bullies and “human rights” bullies).

UNHCR: 80,000 Somalis have returned to Somalia in 2013

Half a million expected to return home in three years!  Is it time now to stop the flow of Somali “refugees” into the West?  Sure sounds like it!

Another boat full of Somalis washes up in Italy over the weekend. UNHCR should pack them up and take them to their safe zones in Somalia! Get them to work fighting for and rebuilding Somalia!

The Kenyan government has threatened to close one of the largest refugee camps in the world, but so far the UN has persuaded the government (fearful of more terrorists in the camp) to let the migration back to Somalia happen voluntarily.

Here is the news from last week at Xinhua News (hat tip:  Joanne):

DADAAB, Kenya, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) — The UN refugee agency UNHCR on Monday said some Somali refugees living in the northern Kenyan camps are willing to return home once they get support.

UNHCR official Mans Nyberg said the Kenyan government did not order the closure of the Dadaab refugee camp as reported by media.

Some refugees had turned up to the UNHCR offices in Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee settlement, to seek more information on their return, the official said.

[….]

The UNHCR and the Kenyan and Somali governments on Nov. 10 signed an agreement on the repatriation of Somali refugees. Up to 80,000 Somali refugees have spontaneously returned to south- central Somalia since January.

Also, last week the UN has identified three priority safe areas for returnees where they will be supplied with the basics to rebuild their lives.

From Reuters:

NAIROBI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – The United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) has identified three priority areas to which it will help Somali refugees return home from Kenya, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The UNHCR signed an agreement with the governments of both countries on Nov. 10, and half a million Somali refugees living in Kenya are expected to return home voluntarily over the next three years. The number of refugees from Somalia – 1.1 million – is the third highest in the world after Afghanistan and Syria.

[…..]

Mbilinyi [UNHCR rep in Kenya—ed] said the UNHCR can monitor the safety of returnees in these areas through partner non-governmental organisations working on the ground. Reception centres will be set up in the three cities, where returnees will receive food, household basics and other materials to help them rebuild their lives.

“Stability is coming back to Somalia. Most of the country is safe even though of course Shabaab are controlling some cities throughout Somalia,” Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Mohammed Ali Nur, told a news conference. “We believe that soon we will liberate the whole country.”

If all of the Somalis trying to find the cushy good life in the West went back to Somalia and worked hard they could easily expel al-Shabaab.

I’ll get in real trouble asking this question, but what makes some people willing to fight to improve their lot and others to become parasitic, is it inherited or learned behavior?
