Seattle: A Decade after Threatening to Blow Up a School Bus, Somali Refugee Running for County Council

Here we go again…. move over Ilhan Omar!

The story from The Blaze:

Leftist political candidate once threatened to blow up school bus, called children ‘white cowards’ as they fled: court docs

A political candidate in Washington once threatened to blow up a school bus full of children, and when the students attempted to flee the potentially deadly situation she called the kids “white cowards,” according to court documents.

Ubax Gardheere is running for the King County Council in the Seattle area. Gardheere is the director of the Equitable Development Division in Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development, which works with organizations on “anti-displacement efforts in high displacement risk neighborhoods, with a continued emphasis on serving BIPOC communities that have been targeted by systemic and institutional racism.”

Gardheere labels herself as a community organizer “focused on policy and systemic healing.” Gardheere, who calls herself a “bureactivist,” says she has “extensive experience in social justice and transformative practices.”

[….]

On Jan. 12, 2010, Gardheere allegedly boarded a school bus while it was transporting children to the Chinook Middle School. “Gardheere demanded the driver tell his dispatcher ‘that a national security incident was going on,'” according to a new report from the Post Millennial.

Gardheere, who is a Somali immigrant, began yelling at the children about America’s relationship with Somalia, according to police reports.

The school bus driver instructed Gardheere to exit the vehicle, but she retaliated by saying that she may have a bomb and a gun, the court docs say.

“You need to calm yourselves down ’cause I could have a bomb. Look how loose my clothes are,” Gardheere said, according to an audio recording of the incident described in court documents.

I’ve highlighted that line above because just yesterday at my local women’s shooting club meeting we were instructed on “situational awareness” and told to be more observant about clothing that could hide a weapon (obviously Gardheere was aware of the advantages of her Somali clothes).  In our case yesterday we were instructed that someone wearing an item of winter clothing on a hot summer day might be of concern.

But I digress, back to the story….

Gardheere was hit with felony charges of kidnapping, but worked out a plea deal with prosecutors to get the felonies down to a misdemeanor.

A few weeks after she made veiled threats to bomb a middle school bus with children onboard, Gardheere gave an interview to Seattle Weekly. Gardheere told the paper that she was suffering from postpartum depression after the birth of her son three years earlier.

“She said her mental condition worsened after she stopped in Dubai to see in-laws on her way to visit Somalia in 2008,” the article from January 2010 said. “Then, according to her account, she was nearly raped by someone at the house where she was staying–and beaten up by police when she tried to report the incident.”

She writes-off the school bus terrorism as temporary mental illness.

Her mental illness aside, here is the big question for me!

(See her campaign website where she discusses her refugee status.)

If she was admitted to the US as a starving refugee at age 15, her family would have told the UN and the US State Department that they would be persecuted in Somalia and that they feared for their safety if they were forced to return to their home country.

Then why was she returning to Somalia for a visit in 2008?

Which begs the next question—why was she a refugee admitted to America in the first place if she can just pop back there for a social visit?

Rep. Ilhan Omar did the same thing!

Is Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar a Poster Child for Refugee Fraud?

This returning to the home country (where a refugee claims they were persecuted) for a “visit” is common practice among Somalis and some other refugee frauds as well.

In my dreams I see deportation for any ‘refugee’ who returns to the country they claimed they were escaping!

Curious about a time-line for Gardheere, here is a brief summary of what I found.  I couldn’t quickly find an article reporting her age, but did find that she was 29 when she terrorized the school children in 2010, and she admits she was 15 when she was resettled as a refugee.

That makes her around 40 years old today.

She describes herself as a single mother with three children and I wondered where might hubby be now. She did have in-laws in Dubai in 2008, or so she says.

(Wondering about Somalis in Dubai, I learned that there are many prosperous Somalis doing business between Dubai and Mogadishu, so was Gardheere a legitimate refugee?)

We assume she was resettled in the Seattle area because unfortunately for Americans there, the area was a prime resettlement site for Somalis.  Not as huge as Minneapolis, but up in the top 5 or so for sure.

I went back to one of the most-read posts of my nearly 14 years writing this blog, and see that she was likely ‘welcomed’ to America in 1996 during Bill Clinton’s term in office.

How did we get so many Somali refugees—the numbers are telling

It is a shame that I stopped updating that post in 2016, because as I reported previously, the data is now not available to the public except possibly in Annual Reports to Congress  and available there only up to 2018.

Seattle: Tax dollars go to special programs for special people—Somalis

I couldn’t help seeing the irony yesterday when I posted on how Denmark is attempting to break up ethnic ghettos that have developed in certain housing projects in that country, see here, while we in the US are still building our ethnic enclaves even using tax dollars to do it!
And, before you move on, don’t miss Leo Hohmann last night who posted on a startling comment from German Chancellor Angela Merkel—yes, she admitted they have no-go zones in some German cities.
In Seattle they are literally building-in separateness!
So much for assimilation!

Somali girls basketball
Special grant program so that Somali girls can play basketball. I sure hope if other girls of other ethnic groups, or even white Americans arrived they would be permitted to play too.

Although I am not sure the grant money is still flowing from the feds (the Office of Refugee Resettlement) to specific ethnic groups as it had been several years ago, this local grant continues the foolish idea of separating needy people by their ethnicity (country of origin).
How on earth do political leaders and grantmakers expect assimilation to ever happen when division and special treatment by country of origin is encouraged!
I wonder if someone formed a club entitled say: Americans of British Ethnicity Youth Club, would it even be permitted to exist let alone get nearly a million bucks from taxpayers?

Somali Youth & Family Club gets nearly a million dollars for after school programs for Somalis

From the South Seattle Emerald:

A crowd of young Somali girls has just finished an hour of basketball. Now they head to the classroom upstairs for tutoring, and of course an occasional dance to Drake’s “God’s Plan.”

These girls, most of them first-generation immigrants, are Skyway residents in the Somali Youth & Family Club, a nonprofit program which holds afterschool programs in Skyway’s Creston Point Apartments. Creston Point has almost 500 units, and many of the residents are Somali immigrants and refugees.

Around 100 Somali youths are in the program, which holds sessions five days a week and allows children of all ages to participate. Members can receive tutoring, play basketball, read and write poetry, and swim.

The nonprofit program is able to run events like this thanks in part to a recent $855,000 grant from King County’s Best Starts for Kids initiative. The grant more than doubled the program’s budget, according to Kelsey Dale, Education Program Manager for the Somali Youth & Family Club.  [Let’s see, $855,000 divided by 100 kids=$8,550 per Somali kid—ed]

The program started in 2007, and is currently overseen by Aden Hussein, a Somali immigrant who came to Skyway in 1999. Hussein says the program has been remarkably successful.

More here.

What is Drake’s “Gods Plan,” I wanted to know.

Apparently it is a song that is all the rage in the last few weeks.
The lyrics are here.
You can listen here (if it isn’t visible in your e-mail, then come to RRW see it or search for it on the net).

And here is a story about what five religious leaders say about the song and Drake giving out money in the music video.
The Islamic leader says this about it:

Mona Haydar, The Islamic Center at NYU, New York, NY

“The video had me in tears and made me wish that we would talk seriously about things like reparations in America for indigenous and Black peoples. It made me think about stolen lands and stolen peoples and the inequity we see as a result of those oppressions and how we become numb to it like the way we come to see poverty as simply the condition of a people instead of a symptom of systemic infrastructural injustice. People say that the system is broken and I don’t believe that’s true — I think the system is fully functional and is rigged the way it is to keep some people up and some people down. The video reminded me of unfettered capitalism and the destruction of our Earth mother.

Sigh…..
This is a song and video you might want to keep away from your children, just saying!

Seattle has a commission on refugees and immigrants, November meeting coming up

A reader has brought to my attention that there are opportunities for concerned citizens to attend meetings where you can learn more about what is going on where you live and who the principle players are (who are the people in your community calling the shots).
No rent hikes!  What do you think?  Are they getting community organizing training somewhere? You betcha!

See our post last year where Somali community organizers protested an effort by the Seattle housing authority to free up some public housing for 9,000 on a waiting list. The housing authority failed. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/19/seattle-housing-crisis-pay-attention-refugee-welcoming-cities/

In Seattle there is the Immigrant and Refugee Commission.  Here is the meeting schedule for the two remaining meetings this year.  Surely they will be discussing how many Syrians will be seeded in Seattle.
In the last few days we reported on opportunities here in Orlando, FL (one of our readers attended!  thank you!) and here in Minneapolis, MN to attend PUBLIC meetings to learn more about what is happening where you live.  To be effective in standing up for your community, you need to understand how refugee resettlement works and who the players are where you live.

Seattle: Group forms to bring more Syrians to Washington state

I suspect this is happening in other cities too—immigrant activists meeting to see how to get more of their mostly Muslim countrymen into the US.

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 24: U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) (2nd L) speaks to members of the media as Senate Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) (R), Senate Minority Whip Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) (L), and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) (3rd L) listen the weekly Democratic Policy Luncheon March 24, 2015 at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC. Senate Democrats held the luncheon to discuss Democratic agenda. (Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images)
Washington Democratic Senator Patty Murray followed Dick Durban’s (D-IL) lead in pushing Obama to admit 65,000 Syrians in FY2016.

If there are any ‘pockets of resistance’ in Washington state be sure to check out who the Syrian activists are and plan to attend their next meeting.
From the Seattle Globalist (no mention of persecuted Christians):

Dozens of Seattle-area residents gathered over the weekend to brainstorm ways to help people fleeing the war in Syria — including bringing more refugees into the state.

[….]

In Seattle, Hussein Ali, a Syrian immigrant who overcame challenges to move his family from Damascus to the U.S., quickly organized the event to make action plans. Ali says he wants the community to pressure their Congressional representatives to increase the limit of 8,000 Syrian refugees allowed into the U.S.

[….]

The next gathering is planned for Sept. 13 at the University of Washington. The group has a new page on Facebook.

It won’t take much to pressure one of their US Senators as Senator Patty Murray is a member in good standing of the Senate ‘Jihad Caucus’ which has gone on record to promote the resettlement of 65,000 Syrians to your towns across America.
Search RRW for more on Seattle, but don’t miss this post about the Seattle low income housing crisis because so many Somali refugees are occupying those units.  Syrians and Somalis will soon be squabbling over housing!
Reminder!  The timing could not be better for Obama. He sends his annual determination letter to Congress this month! Will your Member of Congress or US Senator say a critical word about it?

Seattle: Major ISIS recruiter allegedly a Somali twenty-year-old woman

Regular readers here know that Seattle is one of the primary resettlement sites the US State Department and its contractors*** have chosen for Somali refugees.   And, be assured that the vast majority of Somalis in the US are here as refugees or the children of refugees.  Some get across the border illegally, but most are here legally thanks to the Refugee Act of 1980 (Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter).

Photos she posted helped investigative reporters pinpoint her last known location.

Reader Brandon, from Australia alerted us to this news story (Channel 4 News in the UK broke the story), but I’m posting this one (below) because it identifies the alleged recruiter (ISIS cheerleader) as a Somali.

In one of the several stories I read on the case the word Hijrah is discussed as the mystery woman refers to the migration to the Islamic State.

Gee, so how did a news outfit in the UK figure this out before our own FBI?

From Sputnik News:

A major recruiter for the Islamic State has turned out to be a mid-20s journalism student in Seattle who liked football, cheeseburgers, and convincing women in Syria and the EU to fight for Islamist extremism.

The student, a Somali woman named Rawdah Abdisalaam, who was known under the Twitter handle @_UmmWaqqas was discovered to be working as a senior recruiter while living and studying in the coastal city. Reporters for Channel 4 News in the UK figured out she was based in Seattle by identifying background locations in photos she posted on her account.

Her Twitter account had multiple names like @Rawdah_Abdi and @Rodaa27 and she had 8,000 followers. It has since been deactivated.

Media had in the past speculated that she was Dutch or British. She was a shadowy figure, face never shown, who would be one of the last contacts potential recruits for the Islamic State would reach out to before crossing into their new life of combat.

But her Twitter account gave her away as she tweeted photos of football games (she’s a Broncos fan) or pizza from the comfort of a major American city, all while encouraging young men and women to emigrate to the Islamic State’s battle grounds.

[….]

Friends confirmed that @_UmmWaqqas was Abdisalaam’s account but that she had left Seattle, indicating to reporters she may have headed to Saudi Arabia, or to Denver, Colorado.

There is lots more, be sure to see the full story at Channel 4 News.

We have brought 4,425 Somalis into the US in FY2015 as of April 6th.  Why are we bringing any?
