Missoula, Montana citizens oppose plan to resettle refugees, over 100 turn out in cold/snow

Update Feb. 3:  Leo Hohmann at WND has a more detailed account of what happened in Montana, here.
***Update***  National Public Radio has a headline story that reports ACT for America’s role at the rally, see it here.

We told you here that a demonstration was planned for the steps of the county court house yesterday and here are a couple of news reports on how it went.
I don’t have much time today to do this story justice, but wanted you to have a quick summary.
Organizers were very happy with the turnout of around 100-125 people including a small contingent who came over from Sandpoint, Idaho (we reported on their situation here).  Almost 20,000 viewed that post on facebook!
From The Missoulian:

Missoula became a center of the anti-refugee settlement movement Monday morning as more than 100 people from across the state and Idaho took to the snow-lined sidewalk in front of the Missoula County Courthouse to decry what they see as a national threat.

“Right now, we’re locked in a battle to protect our security, to protect our country,” said organizer Jim Buterbaugh of Whitehall. “We are fighting the system, trying to head this thing off at the pass.”

Dubbed the “American Security Rally,” Buterbaugh expressed amazement at the turnout.

Only six activists in support of seeding Montana with refugees were present.

The specter of Amarillo was raised!

One new Montana resident came from that refugee overloaded city of Amarillo, TX and warned Montanans what they face if they go forward with ‘welcoming’ refugees.  Take a minute and read our recent post on Amarillo being destroyed and how the mayor has no power to stop it! (This Amarillo post was viewed on facebook by over 17,000 readers! and was our top post by far for the month of January.)
From KVGO News Talk:

….one speaker, Karen Sherman, who told KGVO News she just moved to Missoula from Amarillo, Texas, shared the problems her hometown has faced with massive immigration.

“Amarillo is overrun with refugees,” Sherman said. “Our city is failing because of the refugees. We have 22 different languages spoken in our schools, We’ve got 42 different languages being fielded by our 9-1-1 call centers, and crime is just through the roof. We need to exercise caution, especially for the sake of our children.

More here.
It is heartening to see that people who have had experience with refugee colonization, or who are fighting resettlement elsewhere are working together and helping each other!

Montana update: Rally Monday as citizens protest refugee resettlement plans

Update Feb. 3:  See the latest news on how it all turned out by clicking here.

Residents are not taking plans to bring Syrian refugees to ‘Big Sky Country’ lying down….

bigsky2
Middle Eastern and African refugees chosen by the United Nations could soon be on the way to Montana.

This is an update (with lots more detail than we provided) to our post of earlier this week.
From Leo Hohmann at World Net Daily, entitled:

‘Plan to infuse small towns with Muslim migrants meets resistance.’

Another big battle is brewing over Syrian “refugees” sweeping into small-town America.

Rural folks in Montana are pushing back against plans by urban elites to plant hundreds of Muslims from the Third World into Helena and Missoula. They plan a protest rally at 10 a.m. Monday in front of the county courthouse in Missoula. And if the pattern holds of similar rallies in Twin Falls, Idaho, and Fargo, North Dakota, a contingent of pro-refugee people will show up to counter protest.

Of all the 50 states, there are only two that have not received their “share” of the nearly 1 million Muslim refugees that have been infused into more than 180 U.S. cities and towns over the past 35 years, compliments of the U.S. State Department and the United Nations.

Those states are Wyoming and Montana.

[….]

As WND has reported, Obama’s plan to import Syrian and other Muslim refugees has met spirited resistance in South Carolina, Idaho, Minnesota, North Dakota and Michigan. Residents in many areas of these states have let it be known they are not on board with the progressive vision of a multicultural America. They argue, with mounting evidence, that such policies in Europe have led to rampant crime, mass rapes and terrorism.

And the multicultural vision is no longer limited to gateway cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or Miami.

Small cities like Boise, Idaho; Fargo, North Dakota; Wichita, Kansas – and now Helena and Missoula, Montana – are vying for a bigger slice of the refugee pie.

Here in “Big Sky Country” local politicians in Missoula, working with pro-immigrant NGOs, are inviting the federal government to begin sending Syrians, comparing them to the Hmong refugees who fled Vietnam’s communists in the late 1970s. They have not been deterred by the fact that 98 percent of Syrian refugees are Sunni Muslims, the vast majority of whom FBI Director James Comey admits are impossible to vet for ties to terrorism.

Despite Comey’s warnings, the Missoula Board of County Commissioners sent a letter on Jan. 13 to the U.S. State Department requesting Syrian refuges. “We look forward to seeing approximately 100 refugees per year resettled in Missoula,” the letter states.

Refugee contractor (IRC) criticized in Huffington Post story as Syrian refugee pleads for more $$$

This lengthy story in the Huffington Post is a must-read for everyone seriously looking into how the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program works in your community.  But, just please ignore the fact that it is a blatant pitch for refugees to receive MORE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS!
The article begins (Ho hum! according to Journalism 101) with a sob story about a recently arrived Syrian refugee family resettled in California.  The star-of-the-story’s time in jail in Syria sounds improbable to me, but only he will ever know if it’s a truthful account.

Miliband and Hillary eating
David Miliband, bff Hillary, is the CEO of the IRC which takes in approximately $350 million in government grants and contracts annually. Surely they don’t need to take $875 from every man, woman and child they resettle. Doesn’t sound charitable to me! But, gotta keep the bigwigs in 6-digit salaries!

However, this is the part of the story that interested me. With the headline, ‘Refugees Discuss Most Difficult Part Of Living In America,’ I fully expected the news to be that they found you (racist Islamophobes) their most difficult part of living here, but no, it is the refugee program’s bureaucratic mess they find challenging.

The Kanjous were one of the lucky families that made it through the screening process and were accepted as American refugees in September 2015. They, like many others, endured a long and arduous journey to get to U.S. soil. But they now face a new challenge: navigating a complex network of government and nonprofit organizations responsible for overseeing the refugee resettlement process.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement, the process of refugee resettlement varies by state. Some depend on state-administered resettlement resources, while others utilize public-private partnerships or the Wilson-Fish program, an alternative to traditional state-administered refugee resettlement programs for providing cash and medical assistance and social services to refugees. For these refugees, the process of navigating these programs can often be the greatest challenge they face in their resettlement process.

Since arriving in the United States, with the help of local nonprofit organizations, Kanjou and his family have moved out of temporary housing into an apartment. Kanjou has secured a job as a construction worker, along with healthcare and benefits. His daughters are enrolled in the local school. But according to the family, the refugee resettlement process in the U.S. has not provided the help and support they hoped for.

Kanjou implies he is being gouged by the contractor (the IRC in this case).

“Unfortunately these agencies are treating us are pretty badly because they penalize us for any minor thing,” Kanjou says. “Any paperwork they don’t have or any tiny mistake and they will deduct from our financial benefits. That really interrupts the development of our rebuilding process.”

[….]

Once the refugees land in America, the government turns over responsibility to resettlement organizations like the International Refugee Committee (IRC). These agencies are U.S. government contractors who are tasked with helping the refugees navigate the first three months of their new lives. [The reporter has the IRC’s name wrong, it is the International Rescue Committee.—ed]

The article gives us several examples of how the IRC screwed up. And, then discusses how the family relied on the local Islamic Center for help with a bit of whining from the center leader about how the refugees should be getting more money and more welfare from the government (from you!) for a longer period of time rather than the community helping them with private charity.
Then this:

Each family member receives a one-time cash gift of $1,100 upon arrival in the U.S. After three months of working with the IRC, the refugees are expected to have used their stipends to arrange for temporary housing.

I found this very informative.  In fact each refugee family member is allotted $1,975 (and it may be higher now).  I wonder do they know that the IRC is skimming at least $875 per family member from their government money to take care of the family which is now saying that the IRC is doing a lousy job.  Did the IRC not tell the reporter about the portion they get to pocket?
In spite of his unhappiness with how much help he is getting from the US government, Kanjou is happy to be here because his young daughter has a serious medical issue that you (American taxpayers) will be paying for in the near future!
Although, remember this story, oopsy! Syrian refugee who was supposed to have cancer, and came here for treatment, is found miraculously free of cancer!
For more on David Miliband, click here.  We have an extensive archive on the former British Foreign Secretary who is out pushing for 100,000 Syrians to be admitted to the US in the next year (each will be a paying client of one of the supposed refugee charities).

Too funny! 'Refugees' not finding Germany to their liking and want to go home!

Invasion of Europe news….
Just as US federal refugee resettlement contractors are gearing up their massive PR campaign that America should embrace a hundred thousand Syrians and bring them to your towns, thousands of those (supposedly seeking asylum) who flooded into Germany in the last year want to go home!
Why? To put it simply:  Not enough welfare goodies and culture shock (“open attitudes” about sex).  So much for fear of war.

Merkel Iraqi thank you
In this story (burly fighting age) Iraqis are getting ready to make their move to Germany. One of the best things the EU could do (to save itself) is to craft a PR campaign to be broadcast in the Middle East and N. Africa featuring unhappy “refugees” who say they are sorry they came and want to go home! http://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2015/09/05/437727526/with-eyes-on-europe-iraqis-line-up-to-leave-baghdad

Be sure to see a post we wrote last August where a Syrian American says that many of those fleeing Syria see Europe as El Dorado (a mythical city of gold) and don’t want to be left out of the gold rush.
The Wall Street Journal has a really good story yesterday:

BERLIN—In October, Amer sold all his belongings in Syria and took his family to a safer life in Germany. Four months later, he wants to return to a country still at war.

Once in Germany, Amer discovered an unexpected reality: Instead of the small house he was hoping for and money to help him open a business, he was given a bare room in an old administrative building turned into an emergency shelter. Now he is packing his bags again.

“I came to Germany because everyone was saying it was heaven. Now I regret that decision,” said the 30-year-old from Damascus.

[….]

But many who arrive find the country doesn’t match their often inflated expectations. They balk at modest benefits, poor job prospects, and harsh treatment at immigration offices, and voice other complaints ranging from bland food to Germans’ open attitudes about sex.

The Merkel myth about jobs, just that, a myth (or, how the greedy globalists are destroying western civilization).

Ms. Merkel has said the best path to integration is through work, but most migrants face a long road from the cots of emergency shelters to finding housing and employment.

Economists have warned that migrants with low skills, like Amer, stand little chance of ever finding jobs. While some political leaders say the new migrants will help offset a dearth of German workers in the future, critics say they could become a long-term burden on German taxpayers.

Read it all.
Maybe the fighting back home isn’t so bad after all!

Now Toronto wants a pause in Syrian refugee flow to city!

You can’t make this up!  Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (the boy who loves Muslims!) first promised 25,000 Syrians would be resettled in Canada before the close of 2015, now the goal is by the end of February of this year, but they forgot to see if they had enough housing!

justin-trudeau-davos
All the cool people are at Davos this week, including “intellectual powerhouse” Trudeau. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/justin-trudeaus-speech-at-world-economic-forum

We reported on Ottawa yesterday, now here comes Toronto as government frantically searches for more ‘welcoming’ cities who need more Muslim immigrants!
Hitting the “pause” button!
From the Toronto Sun:

TORONTO – The federal government is briefly hitting the pause button on Syrian resettlement efforts in Toronto and looking for other cities to take in refugees.

Immigration Minister John McCallum revealed Wednesday that resettlement groups in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Halifax have asked for a temporary stop in the flow of government-sponsored refugees. But McCallum also told reporters he believes Canada is still on track to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February.

The pause means refugees will now remain in hotels for a few extra days after their flights land in Canada.

“The flow from the airplanes is not slowing down at all,” McCallum said during a speech in Toronto. ”It’s just certain towns or cities need a pause. There will be other places in Canada who will receive the refugees.”

Canadians in other cities beware!

The feds are actively seeking more cities to take in government-assisted Syrian refugees.

Photo:  Will Trudeau heed the warning of the World Economic Forum founder, Klaus Schwab, who anticipates a massive flow of migrants out of Africa this year.  Or, perhaps he will be pulled into the ‘feel good’ crowd around Mr. Chobani Yogurt?
