No Afghan Community in Wyoming, so Let’s Build One! says Episcopal Pastor

Thanks to a reader for alerting me to more news about churches in Wyoming hankering for their very own Afghans (I won’t call them refugees as they are not!) even as the governor has so far said Wyoming won’t be part of Biden’s airlift.

From the Daily Wyoming Cowboy:

Wyoming Churches Take In Afghan Refugees After The State Governor Refuses

CHURCHES in Wyoming hope to support Afghan refugees to live among them. The churches step in because their state is the only one in the United States that does not have a refugee resettlement program.

Wyoming Episcopal Bishop Rt Revd Paul-Gordon Chandler said he was greatly encouraged by the churches’ desire to “welcome the stranger.”

In a letter to the congregations last week, he said: “Some of the churches in our diocese are currently examining the possibility of accepting an Afghan refugee family or, in one way or another, supporting the resettlement of Afghan refugees in our country. For example, the sacristy of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Casper last month voted unanimously to begin investigating the process of sponsoring an Afghan family.

“Since Wyoming does not have a government-funded refugee resettlement program, it requires some creative thinking and close collaboration with the episcopal migration ministries whose mission is this sacred work.”

He said that while the office was not “lobbying” the governor’s office on the matter, it was having “encouraging talks”.  [I sure hope those of you concerned about changing Wyoming are having “talks” with the governor too!—ed]

[….]

The Rector of St. Mark’s in Casper, Wyoming, Revd Dr. Jim Shumard told ENS: “Most Afghan families want to go where there is an Afghan community. There is no community here. We pray that other local churches will support other families so that we can build a fellowship together. “

There is more.  Wyoming is just too white!

He is right, most refugees will simply up and move to be with their own kind of people.

Local church volunteers will burn out trying to supply all the needs of the newcomers who won’t have jobs for a long time, who won’t be able to drive themselves to anything, and who will expect certain culturally appropriate foods and so forth.  Eventually the ‘new Americans’ up and move to ethnic enclaves of their own kind with nary a farewell glance. I have seen it many times!

However, what their presence will bring is a resettlement contractor office such as the one mentioned in this article—Episcopal Migration Ministries—one of nine federal contractors (below for new readers)!

It bugs the heck out of them that Wyoming has resisted their “sacred work” for over 4 decades.

They’re Back! Elites Want to Break Wyoming Using Afghan Evacuees

It drives the open borders refugee contractors crazy because they have never gotten a foothold in Wyoming!

They have been trying for years to open Wyoming’s borders to the world, but the state has resisted for forty years as the only state in the nation that never set up a refugee program and never invited a refugee contractor*** in to do their dirty work.

The most recent effort to shove diversity down the throats of Wyoming’s mostly rural population came in 2014—an effort that was thwarted by vocal hardworking citizen activists. (I met some of those citizens on my 2016 road trip through the West and Midwest.)

I wrote extensively about efforts to bring a refugee office to the state in a series of posts.  The topic of refugee resettlement became a major issue in a gubernatorial race on-going at that time.

Serious students of the refugee program should have a look at my Wyoming archive by clicking here.

By the way, they did break Montana a few years ago and Idaho is being radically changed through refugee resettlement.

Thanks to reader Edward for sending a link and tipping me off  to John Binder’s report on the latest push.

From Breitbart:

WaPo: Diversify ‘Overwhelmingly White and Christian’ Wyoming with Afghans

The Washington Post is promoting a proposal to diversify the “overwhelmingly white and Christian” state of Wyoming by resettling Afghans in the region.

As part of President Joe Biden’s massive resettlement operation out of Afghanistan, his administration plans to resettle at least 95,000 Afghans across 46 states. The only states or territories not taking Afghans are Hawaii, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Washington, DC.

Wyoming is the only state in the nation where the federal government does not annually resettle refugees. That is mostly because none of the nine taxpayer-funded refugee contractors have offices in the state.

Believe it or not, when the Refugee Act of 1980 (Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter) became law, states could choose whether to become a resettlement state.

Wyoming (wisely) managed to stay out of the resettlement system all these years and that rankles those who are working to change America by changing the people.

In a piece titled “One state has never taken in refugees. Will it welcome Afghans?,” the Post explores a proposal by a local Episcopal church in Casper, Wyoming, to take in Afghans.

The Post interviewed a series of individuals for the piece, including those who said Afghan resettlement in Wyoming could “help with diversification” and break from their “conservative beliefs.”

For new readers here are the nine major refugee contractors financed by the US taxpayer who are now busy placing Afghans (who are not refugees!) in cities and towns from sea to shining sea.

They operate with the assistance of at least 100 subcontractors all linked back to one of the nine motherships.

The nine along with the US State Department determine target resettlement sites.

Note to Newbies! Read, Read, Read and Ask Questions!

Today I had a question from a reader who asked me this:

Can you point me in the direction to find out how to track what is going on in my own and adjacent states?

It is almost like asking me, as I am beginning my 15th year of writing about refugees, tell me all about the US refugee program!   And, I might ask how many hours do you have?

My reader’s question is not unreasonable and it is one I would have asked 15 years ago.  I don’t mean to sound dismissive, but where could I begin?

So, here is my recommendation to any of you reading this post who are fairly new to the refugee controversy and the network of government actors and non-profits that call the shots, please use my search window.  It is really very good!

Since my reader lives in Wyoming, let me say first she is lucky because Wyoming is the only state in the nation with no refugee admissions program (so far!).  There was an attempt a few years back, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t one again, to open the state up to the ‘joys’ of third world diversity.

I covered that controversy extensively as it unfolded.

The first step would be to simply search RRW for each state (typing state name in search window) and be prepared for a very large number of posts to appear for each one—after all there are 9,667 posts at RRW!

If you are reading my posts on your phone, please open RRW on your computer and see the search window in the upper right.

You may wonder why some photos/images are missing for older posts and that is because I was deplatformed and had to scramble to save my material.  Some images were lost in the process.

After you have read as much as you can handle about each state—all of the states surrounding Wyoming have seen their share of controversies—then you should have an idea about which of the nine contractors*** have subcontractors in those states.

Find out where they are located and call them on the phone to find out more about what they are doing.

Here is a whole list!

https://www.wrapsnet.org/documents/R&P%20Affiliate%20Directory%20(Updated%20May%202021).pdf

And, don’t be stupid by being confrontational!  You want to get information right?  Then the best thing to do is play dumb!  Seriously!  Sound interested in their work!

Likewise you have a state refugee coordinator.  I previously had a whole list of those, but can’t put my finger on it now. However, you can search the internet for refugee agencies in your state.  You should call the coordinator too and ask for information (after you have read enough of my posts to get a feel for the program).

Knowledge is Power

And, one more thing of a thousand things I could write!  Check out a series I wrote a while back entitled Knowledge is Power for an overview of the program.

Take the time to learn about the US Refugee Admissions Program (believe me, it isn’t going away anytime soon!) before jumping into action because it will do you no good to launch an activism initiative until you have some basic understanding of how it works.

The Open Borders agitators and the refugee contractors (with media backing) know their stuff and will quickly neutralize you if you don’t have your facts.

And one last thing…

Right now the contractors are on a hunt for new resettlement sites and to expand existing ones as I reported here about Winchester, VA.  If you hear that your town might be a target, get in touch with your local elected officials and see what you can find out.

It Begins: Federal Contractors Out Scouring America for New Target Towns for Biden Refugees

Wyoming Public Radio pushing refugee resettlement for Wyoming

Oh, they will say they are just promoting the discussion about opening Wyoming for the placement of third world refugees, but it is just this sort of thing that the Open Borders Left uses to keep the pressure on a recalcitrant population which has made it very clear over recent years that they do not want Wyoming to become a new resettlement site.

Republican Governor Matthew Mead of Wyoming listens to remarks during a "Growth and Jobs in America" discussion at the National Governors Association Winter Meeting in Washington, February 23, 2014. The governors will be meeting with administration officials, members of Congress and business leaders as they discuss the nation's economy, education issues, environmental concerns and health and human services. Republican Governor Matthew Mead of Wyoming wants third world refugees resettled in the state.

This is what the Leftists and complicit media do all the time to wear down their opposition.
For new readers, Wyoming is the only state in the nation that has never had a UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program.
Montana, the only other state not ‘welcoming’ refugees at the moment, did have a small program a few years ago.
With the big push from the Obama Administration to expand resettlement from around the world to 85,000 this year (10,000 from Syria), the US State Department and its contractors are out scouting new territory and the Republican governor of Wyoming has invited the feds to come on in!
We have been following the controversy in Wyoming ever since Governor Matt Mead wrote a 2013 letter to the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in Health and Human Services saying they were setting up an office in Wyoming.  A huge political brouhaha ensued and the governor and those pushing the plan ran for cover (for awhile!).
This March 24 event, being put on by Wyoming Public Radio and the Wyoming Humanities Council, signals that the Open borders (diversity is beautiful) gang is beginning a new propaganda salvo against citizens who object to the expense and cultural disruption that impoverished refugees from Africa, Asia and the Middle East would place on rural Wyoming.
This is a summary of the upcoming event:
bertine
One of the panelists will be former Congolese refugee Bertine Bahige. It was Bahige’s story about how he wanted a refugee program in WY so he could bring his family from the Congo to Wyoming that spooked citizens there before the Lutheran resettlement agency could get its structure in place in Casper. From my own experience and vast evidence over the years, these agents for the US State Dept. must get set up and start operations before the word leaks to regular folks in the town. Secrecy is the watchword for federal agencies/contractors.

Wyoming PBS and the Wyoming Humanities Council are partnering to explore immigration and refugee policy in Wyoming in a special March 24th Wyoming Perspectives. What is the federal government’s refugee program? Why doesn’t Wyoming participate? What are the numbers of immigrants and refugees in Wyoming? What is Wyoming’s history with immigration? Should Wyoming help in the world’s refugee crisis? Why or why not? These questions and more will be discussed. Brian Liesinger, Executive Director of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, will provide a historical perspective.

Wyomingites need to find out more about those on the board of the Wyoming Humanities Council, here.  And, use the election season to question Liz Cheney about the refugee program. You should be guaranteed to get publicity by doing so.
Concerned citizens of Wyoming should weigh in here:

We invite your questions about immigration and refugee policy in Wyoming. Call in your questions during the broadcast to: 800-495-9788 or submit questions now via email to immigration@wyomingpbs.org.

If you live somewhere else in the US and have witnessed problems with the refugee program where you live, please send in questions and comments as well! (Even if your questions/comments never make it on the air, you will be educating Wyoming PBS).

Also, please send ‘educational’ information to the legislator, see here, who will be on the program.
For all of you who have not followed the controversy in Wyoming, see our archive here.
Two years ago this week, we had a good laugh when we learned that the wannabe refugee contractor, Lutherans!, admitted that the reason they got politically shot down was that the news was out about their plans before they had all the skids greased.  They had hoped to keep the plan secret longer! Jumping the gun! Go here and see that the ORR already had Casper, WY on their map of resettlement sites.  The latest map shows no office in Casper.
See especially, Governor Mead suggests RRW is racist, here (a usual line of attack by the Left!).

Wyoming legislature would have to approve refugee resettlement plan for the state

This is the latest news from one of only two states not getting third-worlders resettled within their borders (Montana is the other, so far!).
Before you read this article from the Wyoming Tribune Eagle be sure to see our extensive archive on the battle for Wyoming’s sovereignty and freedom from UN/federal government dictatorial decisions on refugee resettlement for the state.  We were shocked back in February 2014 to learn that Wyoming’s Republican Governor Matt Mead had actually (the previous year!) invited the Dept. of Health and Human Service’s Office of Refugee Resettlement in to set up shop in Wyoming.
Here is Mead’s letter (before he ran into a grassroots citizen buzz saw).  Notice that in 2013, the Governor was saying that he had unilaterally “elected to pursue” a program for the resettlement of refugees to Wyoming.

Now to the Tribune Eagle (hat tip: Joanne):

CHEYENNE – Wyoming is the only state in the nation without a refugee resettlement program.

And a bill being considered by the Legislature would require lawmakers’ approval to change that.

The House Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee voted Friday to advance a bill that blocks the governor from unilaterally setting up a state program that would help refugees who arrive directly or indirectly in Wyoming.

Matt mead finger pointing
Why is Republican Governor Matt Mead so eager to invite impoverished third-worlders to the state? Have they run out of needy Americans in WY? Those are the questions!

Instead, House Bill 47 would require public hearings and a majority vote in the Legislature before the state could set up a plan that would be needed to get federal funding for a refugee program.

Rep. Tom Reeder, R-Casper, is sponsoring the bill. He said this is not about recruiting refugees or deciding whether refugees can or cannot relocate in Wyoming.

“The 1980 Resettlement Act says if the (federal government) accepts a refugee, they can move freely throughout the United States,” he said. “This is just whether we want to develop a program that would help people, and this is really a funding mechanism.”

The bill says the state plan would include how it intends to promote economic self-sufficiency for the refugees, offer language programs and decide what state, federal or private costs would be associated with the relocation efforts.

It also would provide recommendations on who would be responsible for coordinating public and private resources.

The question of whether Wyoming should set up a refugee plan has been a contentious topic since Gov. Matt Mead notified federal officials in 2013 that he was exploring setting up public-private partnership for the resettlement program.

The issue then became a topic during the 2014 gubernatorial campaign with some candidates and citizens criticizing the governor over the move.

Now he says this:

But Mead has maintained he has not made a decision on whether to set up such a program.

Make no mistake!  It is citizens fighting back in Wyoming that has kept the state free of resettled refugees for the last two years.  If no one had spoken up Mead’s resettlement office (originally planned for Casper) would be up and running!
