Homeland Security Secretary testifies to Congress on immigration

The Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, yesterday told a Senate panel that his department had made great strides to protect the American public from “dangerous people.”    Most of his testimony centered around measures to control illegal immigration, but emphasized near the end of his statement that immigrants must “assimilate” and he lists in Part V of his testimony what measures are being taken to accomplish that goal.

I was happy to see that the word “assimilate” had not become a dirty word over at Homeland Security.  Read his whole testimony here.
