Michelle Malkin:The Pfleger-ization of the Catholic Church

Michelle Malkin has posted a good column today in which she tells us more about the role of the Far Left US Conference of Catholic Bishops—one of the top federal refugee contractors that we have discussed many times on these pages.    Here is one post at RRW about how much of your tax dollars the USCCB receives.  95% of its refugee budget is from you when it was supposed to be a public-private partnership.   If they use only a tiny fraction of their overall funding for refugees that leaves many millions available for their political agenda.   And, I sure hope they aren’t dipping into their refugee funds for political organizing!

It’s just the sort of thing Planned Parenthood does.  They say they don’t use their taxpayer funding for abortions, but for other “educational” and political activities which then leaves more of their own funding for abortions.

Without your money the USCCB political agenda would be crippled!

Afghan refugee kills wife for becoming too Australian

Islamic “honor” trumps assimilation (again)!   Tuesday it was Dallas, today Australia, tomorrow, your town?

From The Age:

A man who killed his wife by using her veil to strangle her in their Melbourne home did so in the belief he was entitled to dominate her, a Supreme Court judge has found.

Soltan Azizi was today sentenced to 22 years’ jail by Justice Betty King, who said the Afghani refugee had been physically abusive towards Marzieh Rahimi throughout their 14-year marriage.

Justice King said Ms Rahimi had sought help from social workers and was intending to leave Azizi, despite him warning that he would kill her if she tried.

She said Azizi had complained to Ms Rahimi’s sister in the days prior to her killing that his wife was becoming “too Australian”, meaning “she was not a docile and good wife in the terms you expected her to be”.

“It is clear you were unable to accept that your wife had rights, which rights included the ability to leave you if that was what she desired,” Justice King said.

“… Her death clearly resulted because of your belief that you were entitled to dominate and dictate to your wife what she could and could not do.”

Crime Tips hotline for Somalis!

Calling all Somalis! You don’t have to be a Somali refugee living in Columbus, OH to report a crime in your own language.   Although set up in Columbus, supposedly the second largest Somali population in the country (behind Minneapolis), the crime hotline is available to anyone acccording to the Associated Press:

COLUMBUS, Ohio — U.S. law enforcement agencies, community leaders and an anti-crime group announced a new Web site Wednesday that allows Somali immigrants to report crimes in their native language.

The project’s goal is to help Somalis overcome a suspicion of police borne of corruption in their homeland and to crack down on illegal activity from street crime to terrorist recruiting. The site was announced in Columbus, the city with the nation’s second-largest Somali population, but will accept tips from anywhere in the U.S.

Somali concerns about crime have grown in Columbus recently and reached new levels following the unrelated slayings of two Somali immigrants in the last year.

Somalis are also worried about the recruiting of young men by overseas terrorists. More than a dozen people have been charged in an ongoing federal investigation in Minnesota into the travels of as many as 20 young men who went to Somalia to fight.

Looking for their first tip—a Somali sex offender!

I saw that first AP story a couple of days ago, but now here is a second one this time from the Columbus Dispatch:

A Somali man who failed to register as a sex offender in Minnesota might have fled to Columbus, federal investigators said yesterday.

The search for Yahye Elmi Abdisalan, convicted of felony sex crimes against children, coincides with the launch of a Web site designed to allow Somalis throughout the United States to submit anonymous tips to law enforcement in their native language.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers created the site, www.somalitips.com, in cooperation with the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Somali community.

The wanted poster for Abdisalan, 32, should be posted on the site this week, Cathy Jones, interim U.S. marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, said during a news conference promoting the site.

For new readers, more Somalis are on the way:

Maybe the tips hotline will turn up some of the 270 Somali illegal aliens who entered the US recently through Mexico and are being sought by ICE.  The fear is that they are connected to the terrorist group, Al-Shabaab here.

For information on Somali missing youths, American citizens who have gone to Somalia to learn the Jihad trade, some leaving through Mexico, use those search words.  We have written dozens of stories on the case.  For more on Al-shabaab (sometimes spelled Al-shabab) also use our search function.

The US State Department has admitted over 80,000 Somali refugees to the US (this linked post continues to be one of the most widely read posts we have ever written) in the last 25 years and then in 2008 had to suspend family reunification because widespread immigration fraud was revealed through DNA testing.  That specific program has not yet been reopened (that we know of), but will be soon

Nevertheless, thousands of Somali Muslims continue to be resettled by the State Department as I write this. We recently learned that we will be taking 6000 Somalis this year from one camp in Uganda and as many as 11,000-13,000 total from around the world.

All of a sudden they are worried about the Constitution?

Nowhere in the Constitution did the founding fathers contemplate a federal government collecting tax money and apportioning it out to every supposed good cause that anyone anywhere could think of.  The federal government was never meant to be a charity!

Now a debate is raging about all the taxpayer-funded religious organizations and whether they can have any power to hire people based on their faith if they get federal money.  And, critics of those organizations are using the Constitution to call foul!  What a lot of nerve!  Here is yet another piece of jibber-jabber on the topic, this time from the Jewish Daily Forward:

After much deliberation, an advisory council has presented the White House with a blueprint for reforming the Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships, to ensure that the bright line separating the public’s money from support for private religious behavior is visible and honored. The recommendations suggest welcome improvements to a federal operation that too often has been fuzzy on serious constitutional issues. But this good work doesn’t go far enough.

Among the recommendations, the council called for the government to amend its rules to clarify that federal funds cannot be used to pay for explicitly religious activities. That ought to be obvious. But it’s not, and the council — drawn from members of many faiths — was wise to stipulate that social service providers not use direct government aid to pay for religious instruction, for example, or disseminating sacred texts.

The faith-based initiative’s aim is not to prop up religion, but to support those religious institutions that help the poor and needy, especially in communities long abandoned by everyone else.

[…..]

But a larger issue wasn’t even up for discussion. From the outset, the Obama administration instructed the council not to consider whether religious institutions receiving public funds can be required not to discriminate in hiring. The 1964 Civil Rights Act permits such an institution to hire according to faith, to protect freedom of religion. Once public funding for child-care services or drug rehabilitation is in play, however, the church or synagogue should no longer be allowed to discriminate in hiring staff for such programs.

This isn’t a theoretical issue. A prominent refugee resettlement organization that reportedly receives up to 70% of its funds from government sources has just enacted a policy requiring new employees to be Christian [here recently]. It’s legal. But is it right? And can the faith-based initiative continue to blur constitutional lines and earn our support?

Let me make a really novel suggestion, how about if we follow the Constitution and give no government funding to any non-profit group!  Then the religious ones will be free and able to hire only those of their faith!

More on the death of amnesty legislation this year

Here is an Arizona Daily Star story with several links to other articles about how the so-called comprehensive immigration reform legislation (aka amnesty) may be dead for this year.  The tragic death of an Arizona rancher, allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien, may well have ended any hope the open borders gang had for the legislation to move forward in advance of the November elections.

Meanwhile SEIU isn’t giving up on a piecemeal attack on immigration law enforcement by demonstrating in three cities this week, here (at George Soros’ Washington Independent).
