Deported immigrant returned to US and ripped off over a million $ from food stamp program

As some of you know, I started following food stamp scams back in 2007 when our local convenience story owner, a Pakistani, was investigated and ultimately convicted on food stamp fraud, and I think I’ve seen it all.  But, this story takes the cake.  This guy had been deported tens years ago for food stamp fraud, got back into the US, and now is busted again in Connecticut.

Oh, and I keep begging for some other enterprising blogger or would-be-blogger to start a blog just to follow the immigrant food stamp scammers and maybe those ripping off medicare and medicaid too.  You would be busy every day!

For those new to food stamp fraud, most of it where large sums are involved, works like this:   the store clerk, owner, manager exchanges cash for stamps usually at a rate of 50 cents on the dollar.  The store clerk gives the “customer” the 50 cents and then turns around and is reimbursed a dollar out of your (taxpayer) pockets.

From the Hartford Courant:

A Dominican citizen, convicted and deported from Hartford about a decade ago for food stamp fraud, sneaked back into the city and set up a new network of bodegas that he used to swindle an additional $1.6 million from the food stamp program, authorities said.

Apolinar E. Collado, 43, who lived most recently in Wethersfield, reached a plea bargain deal with federal prosecutors in the new fraud case and on Friday pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a single count of food stamp fraud that could send him to prison for up to 20 years.

[…..]

Collado is accused of illegal practices such as trading cash for food stamp benefits at discounted rates and selling prohibited items like cigarettes and beer at inflated rates to food stamp holders.

After being deported about a decade ago, authorities said, Collado, also known locally as Jose Adams, David Martin and “Polo,” returned to Hartford illegally in 2003 and began an “extensive scheme” to steal money from the food stamp program through a succession of four stores…

[…..]

Because his first conviction and deportation in the 1990s barred Collado from participating in the food stamp program, he used nominee, or straw, owners to sign checks, open bank accounts, and otherwise act as proprietors of the new chain of stores.

There is more, read it all.

Just a reminder to refugee agencies, I have started to see arrests of those SELLING their food stamps as well as the buyers.

For much more on food stamp fraud, use our search function.  I wish I had set up a category for it, but had no clue it would be so extensive.

Why aren’t we hearing much about Egypt…

…..because as this author suggests, the rape of Lara Logan, in one brutal moment, exposed the great lie that we are all the same the world over, hungering for freedom and across cultures have only lofty human aspirations.  (Hat tip: Paul)

From Taki’s Magazine:

So Egypt is over. Oh, we’ll hear snippets and see some snapshots, but make no mistake, Egypt is over.

[…..]

…..the real reason Egypt is finished in the media is a single white female.

If you have not heard, CBS Chief Foreign Correspondent Lara Logan was gang-raped by 200 or so Egyptian men in the moments following Mubarak’s abdication. They were celebrating, you see.

But to read the inevitable after-effect of media censorship over the past several days she was not raped, she was “sexually assaulted,” which soon became simply “assaulted.” Given enough revisions, one wonders whether she will have merely been insulted.

What does this nearly unimaginable bestiality have to do with the cessation of reporting from or about Egypt? Everything.

Because, you recall, we are all the same. All races are the same. All cultures are the same. All civilizations are the same. All people everywhere, over the Earth’s disparate spaces, evolved in exactly the same way over millions and billions of years to render us, all of us, identically developed at this same moment in history. Astounding, isn’t it?

Read it all!  And, have you noticed too that we don’t hear a peep anymore from the old media about the great democracy movement in Egypt.

Update: Not much interest in Egypt for bringing justice for Logan, here.

Shelbyville film becomes a multi-media propaganda campaign

New readers, please check out a recent post on the “Welcome to Shelbyville” campaign, here.

This is an update.   The Leftwing open borders gang has taken the complicated story of what is really happening in Shelbyville, TN—a town in an uproar a few years ago after a large number of Somali refugees were invited to town by Tyson Foods to work in its chicken plant there—and through selective editing turned it into a ‘rednecks see the light’ story.  Located in the American Bible belt, Shelbyville became a prime subject for the propagandists to show the world that even rednecks could come to ‘welcome the stranger.’

Here is the latest headline from Active Voice about how they are expanding their campaign to other media.

Small Town Residents Inspire Multimedia Campaign
Active Voice Launches Shelbyville Multimedia to Spark Community Building Among Long-Term Residents, Immigrants and Refugees in the U.S.

I’ve got a question, if everything is so copacetic with immigration in Shelbyville and Bedford County why does their state senator feel the need to get greater local and state control over the refugee program in Tennessee?   See this news from Senator Jim Tracy.

Refugee agencies crying foul over proposed budget cuts

Lavinia Limon:  budget cuts would “essentially shut down the US Refugee Program!”

I don’t have time to do it justice but for those of you wanting to delve into the pleas from refugee resettlement contractors, who get their salaries and offices etc. from the taxpayer, below are some recent blasts at the Republicans who now control the House of Representatives:

Refugees International (they don’t resettle refugees just lobby for the refugee industry) “expresses alarm” over cuts to foreign aid, here.  The North African revolutions could not have come at a better time, you watch, they will be using those as the excuse that we need to send even more money to Muslim countries.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (one of the top federal resettlement contractors), gave testimony to some public relations forum hosted by NOW ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. John Conyers.   This wasn’t even a Congressional hearing, just a propaganda event.   Here is what LIRS said. However, they never say a word about how much of taxpayers money goes to their own salaries and overhead (and lobbying for more money).  And, of course, not one mention of the fact that they could just say NO to more refugees until our budget crisis is resolved.    We are still aiming for 80,000 refugees to be resettled this year!

I already told you about the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (another federal contractor) begging here even before the House vote.

Then Lavinia Limon head honcho of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (yes, another federal contractor) wrote this in a Washington Post opinion article Sunday:

The budget cuts proposed in the House would essentially shut down the U.S. Refugee Program, sending a clear message to the world that we as Americans are closing our doors. That is not the message we should be sending.

By the way, Ms. Limon is a prime example of the government/contractor revolving door.  She headed the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), the agency that doles out the money, in the Clinton administration and now makes a six-figure salary as a government contractor.  We’ve written a lot about her and USCRI, so just use our search function to learn more.    Oh, and this is really funny!  Her recent Vice Pres. at USCRI, Eskinder Negash, is now head of ORR. There ought to be a law!

There are probably more pleas, it’s just that these were backing up in my queue so I thought I better get them out.
