Food Stamp Fraud: Ahmed goes down and takes illegal alien with him

One more food stamp scam story, this one with a twist.

From KNSS Radio (Wichita, KS):

In federal court in Wichita, the owner of a small grocery store in Wichita has been indicted on federal charges of harboring an illegal alien who worked in the store.

40-year-old Ahmed Ajami Al-Maleki of Wichita was indicted last month on charges of food stamp fraud. The new indictment charges him with knowingly employing an alien who was unlawfully residing in the United States.

The indictment alleges that starting in October 2010, Al-Maleki hired an employee whose initials are P.V.C. to work at the Kansas Food Market in the 2600 block of N. Arkansas in Wichita, and paid her in cash. The indictment alleges Al-Maleki knew that P.V.C. was an alien who was not lawfully present in the United States. After Al-Maleki was charged with food stamp fraud, he stopped paying her in cash and began paying her by check. The checks had no withholdings for state income taxes, federal income taxes or Social Security payments. When P.V.C. told Al-Maleki she could not cash the first check because she did not have proper identification, he cashed it for her and gave her the money.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture – Office of Inspector General and Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated the case.

CIS report to be released next week on immigrant welfare use

Your tax dollars:

Everything in the world is happening next week it seems!  Here is one more thing to put on your calendars!

On April 5th, according to a press release yesterday, the Center for Immigration Studies will release the findings of a new report entitled,“Welfare Use by Immigrant Households with Children: A Look at Cash, Medicaid, Housing, and Food Programs.”

WASHINGTON (March 29, 2011) – A new Center for Immigration Studies report finds that, 13 years after welfare reform, the share of immigrant-headed households (legal and illegal) with a child (under age 18) using at least one welfare program continues to be very high. This is partly due to the large share of immigrants with low levels of education and their resulting low incomes – not their legal status or an unwillingness to work. The major welfare programs examined in this report include cash assistance, food assistance, Medicaid, and public and subsidized housing.

The findings also show wide variation in welfare use by country of origin, with immigrants from some countries making extensive use of such programs, while those from other countries have relatively low use rates. Welfare use also varies by state, with Arizona, Texas, California, New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Oregon and Colorado having some of the highest levels of welfare use among immigrant households.

The report, “Welfare Use by Immigrant Households with Children: A Look at Cash, Medicaid, Housing, and Food Programs,” is authored by Steven A. Camarota, Director of Research at the Center for Immigration Studies. It will be released Tuesday, April 5, at 9:00 a.m. during a panel discussion at the National Press Club, 14th & F streets, N.W.

I’ll bet you a buck the study will not be encouraging, unless of course you are an advocate of the Cloward-Piven strategy to bring down capitalism by flooding the welfare system.

I know one bit of data that was probably not available—the Office or Refugee Resettlement still has not fulfilled its legal requirement to produce welfare data and other data on refugees for its annual report to Congress now three years late! As a matter of fact, I think one reason a report has not been submitted in three years is because the welfare usage and employment figures are probably so horrible that the refugee industry does not want Congress to know about it.

Take a few minutes and contact your US Congressman and US Senators and ask them to demand that the ORR submit those three (2008,2009,2010) reports to Congress!

Former Vietnamese refugee rips off New York Chinese, says she hates them

I know! I know she clearly has mental problems but once again we have an example of how there is no love lost between immigrants from different cultures.   This is not the first time I’ve heard about conflicts between the Vietnamese and Chinese—heck there are thousands of years of history between the two ethnic groups that the overrated American melting pot can’t completely melt.  To see what I mean about the long history, check out the Trung Sisters who died in the first century AD while waging a battle against their Chinese enemy.  Their bravery is still celebrated in Vietnam today.

From the New York Daily News:

A Vietnamese refugee who claims she steals to give to the poor faces three years in prison – and possible hate crime charges – for a pick-pocketing spree in Chinatown, officials said Tuesday.

Ho Vasko, 67, a wealthy former New York restaurant owner, was arraigned on grand larceny and jostling charges for stealing $350 from the purses and pockets of four victims last week.

Prosecutors told a Manhattan Criminal Court judge they may increase the charges against Vasko because of a hate-filled rant she made after her March 21 arrest.

“I hate the Chinese people, they sell fake stuff,” Vasko told cops, according to court documents.

“They get benefit cards, and they don’t contribute anything back, so I take their money and give it to people who need it,” she said. “I want to die. I hope they electrocute me.”

I should have a category entitled, no bad white people in this story!  Or, maybe tribalism is part of human nature even if you wish it would go away.
