Bruce Bawer: Norway’s insane asylum seekers

Some of the charming-looking and underfed asylum seekers whose blue trays were used for protest signs.

Frontpage magazine has a good article by author Bruce Bawer about how Norway is being transformed by the Left with the help of mostly Muslim migrants from various of the world’s hell holes.  Hat tip: Judy

Here are some snips from the must-read article (emphasis is mine):

We hear relatively often these days about the large and growing Muslim communities in major European cities. Less frequently a subject of media attention in the U.S., however, is an equally significant phenomenon: the asylum centers that dot the landscape in many countries. In Norway alone, with a total population of only five million, there are a hundred or so such establishments around the country, some of them in largish cities, some in rural hamlets. In these centers reside individuals of foreign origin, mostly from the Muslim world, who are awaiting decisions about their applications for asylum. The places aren’t locked. (Those who humbly propose locking them are routinely depicted by the political and cultural elite as inhuman bigots.) Consequently, they serve for many of their residents as handy bases from which they can venture out and plunder the locals. They are, in other words, Ground Zeroes for criminality. It should also be pointed out that many, if not most, of the people living in them have no legitimate right to asylum at all.

On Wednesday, November 27, a group of men who live in the Hvalsmoen asylum center on the outskirts of Hønefoss, a town in the southeastern Norwegian municipality of Ringerike, staged a protest against what they considered lousy meals and small portions in the cafeteria. The protesters, who numbered somewhere between 25 and 30 and hail from Syria, Sudan, Iran, Morocco, Somalia, and the Palestinian territories, vandalized their blue food trays, scrawling “Hungry strik” (which isn’t correct in any language) and “Nei rasisme” on them (picture here), and marched into downtown Hønefoss, crying racism.

[…..]

The men’s complaints didn’t set well with many of the people of Ringerike, who, like other Norwegians, are already less than thrilled with the presence of these centers in their midst.

Bawer wraps up with this:

How depressing it is that while so many ordinary Norwegian citizens plainly have a very clear picture of what’s going on at these asylum centers – and of what it bodes for the future of their countries – their elected representatives seem not to grasp (or not to want to face the fact) that people who can be so arrogant, demanding, and belligerent even while their asylum applications are being scrutinized are probably not very likely to end up as peaceable, law-abiding, and productive citizens of Norway. Legitimate refugees don’t act this way; conquerors do.

For me, the most poignant reader comment on any of the news stories about this food flap was one that was posted by a young man who identified himself as Geir. “How did it get like this in Norway?” he asked. “I don’t get it. It wasn’t so bad when I was growing up in Oslo in the 1990s. What’s happening? It’s enough to make you go crazy.” Yes, it is. And what can make you go crazy even faster is that, thanks to the top-notch efforts of the schools and the media, somebody who grew up in Oslo in the 1990s can have reached adulthood without really understanding what’s been done to his country in his name.

Obama White House admits lie involving Uncle Omar

Come on media—vet this guy!

As we reported here the other day, Onyango Obama told a Boston court that he had indeed met his famous nephew when Obama stayed with him for several weeks in the 1980’s.

Now, the White House is admitting the press office lied when they told everyone that the President had never met his illegal alien uncle—-but as has become the pattern, it was not the President’s fault, of course not! the press office is taking the blame.

So, how many more lies are there?

Here is the Boston Globe follow-up:

President Obama acknowledged Thursday that he lived with his Kenyan uncle for a brief period in the 1980s while preparing to attend Harvard Law School, contradicting a statement more than two years ago that the White House had no record of the two ever meeting.

Their relationship came into question Tuesday at the deportation hearing of the president’s uncle, Onyango Obama, in Boston immigration court. His uncle had lived in the United States illegally since the 1970s and revealed for the first time in testimony that his famous nephew had stayed at his Cambridge apartment for about three weeks. At the time, Onyango Obama was here illegally and fighting deportation.

On Thursday, a White House official said the press office had not fully researched the relationship between the president and his uncle before telling the Globe in 2011 that it had no record of the two meeting. This time, press office staff members asked the president directly, which they said they had not done in 2011. [What else have they not asked Obama?  Is it time to ask more questions?—-ed]

“The president first met Omar Obama when he moved to Cambridge for law school,” said White House spokesman Eric Schultz. “The president did stay with him for a brief period of time until his apartment was ready. After that, they saw each other once every few months, but after law school they fell out of touch. The president has not seen him in 20 years, has not spoken with him in 10.”  [Even that isn’t plausible, if the man is your father’s brother, one would have to be a real creep not to check up on him.—ed]

This next section of the Globe story reveals so much about the media love affair with Obama.  If I recall “Dreams from my Father” correctly, Obama specifically says Uncle Omar was missing in America and NO one knew where he was.   Remember Obama (Bill Ayers) wrote dreams after Harvard and thus after he stayed with Onyango in Boston.

President Obama had written in his memoir, “Dreams from My Father,” that he had met Zeituni Onyango, his aunt. But his relationship with his uncle, nicknamed Omar, was less clear.

The Washington Post consulted scholars!  Which scholars?  Leftwing college professors?

In November 2011, a White House spokesman told the Globe he had no record of the two ever meeting. The Washington Post had also reported that scholars believed the two had never met.

The White House never moved to correct the record, until the president’s fiercely private uncle took the witness stand in Boston immigration court two days ago.   [Of course they wouldn’t correct the record, they had become so accustomed to getting a pass from the sycophants in the media!—ed]

It is time now (past time) for the media to do what they should have done in 2008—check out this guy’s story!

Oregon: More Muslims busted for food stamp fraud

Readers, here is one more in our long list of food stamp fraud cases involving immigrant-run stores where a disproportionate number involve Muslim managers and owners.

Busted! Mahmoud Tajgerdu

We follow food stamp fraud as a side interest here at RRW until such a time when some blogger-wannabe takes on the project full time.  Honestly, you could write posts daily on immigrant-run convenience store food stamp fraud and never run out of stories!

Mainstream news outlets don’t want to touch this topic with a ten foot pole! That is why we need citizen investigative journalists!

From KOIN.com:

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Beaverton grocery store owner, his daughter and three employees have been arrested on accusations they perpetrated an elaborate food stamp fraud scheme.

According to Beaverton police, 42-year-old Mahmoud Tajgerdu would allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to exchange their benefits for cash at his store, Beaverton Halal Meat***and Mediterranean Groceries, located on Southwest Canyon Road.

Under the exchange, Tajgerdu would, for example, charge $125 to a food stamp user’s SNAP card in exchange for $100 in cash. Tajgerdu would then pocket the $25 difference.

At least Mahmoud wasn’t as greedy as most.  The going rate on this scam is 50 cents on the dollar.  The store clerk takes half the cash and gives the other half to the seller of benefits, which is illegal too by the way.  I’ve seen an occasional case where the seller of their welfare benefits is criminally prosecuted and frankly if we saw more of those it might have a chilling affect on the whole fraud scheme.

Negin Tajgerdu:  Busted for lying!

KOIN continued:

Beaverton police detectives and U.S. Department of Agriculture agents apprehended Tajgerdu and his daughter Tuesday, along with three employees who work at his store and a nearby 76 gas station that he owns.

Tajgerdu faces nine counts each of first-degree aggravated theft and unlawfully obtaining supplemental nutritional assistance. His daughter, 23-year-old Negin Tajgerdu, is charged with three counts of perjury.

Thirty-nine-year-old Bahman Hoshmand, 38-year-old Aziz Darakhshani and 35-year-old Rafik Korkut face multiple counts of aggravated theft and unlawfully obtaining supplemental nutritional assistance.

A Portland area shopping guide tells us this about Beaverton Halal and Tajgerdu (emphasis is mine):

Beaverton Halal

11527 SW Canyon Road, 574-2383.

Consider it the goat-butcher equivalent of an open kitchen. At Beaverton Halal, your goat is butchered while you watch. The front of the store is a half-sorted hodgepodge, with spices of various provenance arranged by dart throw down the left aisle and mega-sacks of rice stacked near the door, with sundries like honeycomb and sweet jallab syrup stored on miscellaneously stocked shelves in the store’s midsection. But the action’s in the back at the butchery, where owner Mahmoud Tajgerdu butchers goat and sheep at staggering affordability, in quantities like “quarter goat” and “half goat,” fresh from a farm in Eugene and all in accordance with Islamic law (which, for secular purposes, mostly means that it’s not pork, amphibious, carnivorous or gross.) JG.

Shopping list: The goat and mutton will be the main attractions, but heart and liver can also be found here.

Guess the Muslims in the area will need to find another goat butcher to watch.

If you suspect food stamp fraud in your neighborhood, here is the contact information for reporting your suspicions.   See something, say something!

Amnesty International berates Bulgaria over so-called “hate crimes” against refugees/migrants

What makes groups like Amnesty International not understand that citizens of a country sooner or later won’t tolerate being invaded—sooner in small relatively poor countries like Bulgaria where citizens see the impact of being overrun more quickly?

Heck, I’ll bet Amnesty has been pretty ticked-off at the US for “invading” Muslim countries.  So, why when Muslims invade a Christian country are the citizens to lie down and take it?

Jezerca Tigani of Amnesty International: “Xenophobic and racist violence will not be tolerated.”

For new readers, click here, for our complete archive on Bulgaria being swamped by mostly Syrians flooding across their border with Turkey.

Amnesty beats on Bulgaria.  Here is the latest news about attacks on migrants in Sofia and Amnesty’s demands (emphasis is mine):

Bulgaria’s authorities must send a clear message that they will take all necessary measures to curb the growing spate of attacks against refugees and migrants on the streets of the capital city Sofia, Amnesty International said.

The call comes after two Syrian men in their 20s and 30s were injured in a violent attack in Sofia’s Zaharna Fabrika district. A third man targeted in the attack reportedly escaped unscathed. This was the seventh such assault on the city’s streets since the beginning of November 2013.

“So far, instead of investigating and bringing the perpetrators of these violent attacks to justice, the Bulgarian authorities have sought to downplay them as run-of-the-mill muggings and crimes. Bulgaria is obliged under international law to thoroughly investigate any possible hate motive behind these crimes. Hate crimes are an affront to human dignity,” said Jezerca Tigani, a Deputy Director of Europe and Central Asia Programme of Amnesty International.

“The Bulgarian authorities must take a clear and public stance that xenophobic and racist violence will not be tolerated. Refugees and migrants must be protected from any further harassment and violence.”

Bulgaria is working on Plan B—secure the border, build a fence, slow the flow:

Separately, the Interior Ministry said that there had been a decrease in the number of people entering Bulgaria seeking refugee status, halving in the past month.

In October, there were 3626 illegal entrants, but in November the number dropped to 1652, according to the Interior Ministry.

The reason for the decrease in the number was intensified border controls and new security measures, the ministry said. An additional 1400 police had been deployed in the border area and construction of a fence at the Bulgarian-Turkish border had started.

Maybe Ms. Tigani could yell at Turkey for allowing the migrants to wander across Turkey and slip into Bulgaria.  International refugee law requires legitimate asylum seekers to apply for asylum in the first safe country they enter—that would be Turkey!

Syrian refugee relief effort Islamicized

That is the title of an article by Alexander Casella at the Asia Times.

UNHCR Antonio Guterres snuggles with Syrians as UN role is diminishing according to author Casella.

The author contends that the role of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is diminishing when it comes to major refugee movements as Islamic Non-governmental organizations play a larger role.  Emphasis below is mine.

GENEVA – As the Syrian crisis is poised to enter into its third year, it is estimated that 25% of the country’s inhabitants have been uprooted, including more than 2 million refugees abroad and about 4.5 million internally displaced people.

With the conflict showing no sign of abating, numbers of those crossing the border to seek refuge in neighboring countries is estimated on average at about 2,000 a day. Conversely, the humanitarian response to the tragedy is proving as chaotic, uncoordinated and politicized as the conflict itself.

During the years of the Cold War, with refugees moving essentially from East to West, the Western bloc, comprising essentially the industrialized democracies had in effect delegated to the UN system and its executive arm, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the task of managing major refugee crisis.

Thus, the responses to both the Afghan refugee emergency and the Vietnamese boat people crisis were essentially managed by UNHCR and funded by the Western bloc. In practice this meant that the cosmetics of helping refugees benefited mostly the UN system rather than the donor governments providing the funding. Ultimately, funds provided by individual governments were laundered through the UN system, thus acquiring a “humanitarian” label.

The erosion of this process started with the Bosnian conflict in 1992. Coming in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union, by the end of the conflict in 1995 a new trend had emerged. While still using the UN system as a channel for assistance, donor governments would increasingly provide their aid either bilaterally or through their own national non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

[….]

Looking beyond the numbers, and viewed from a global perspective, the Syrian refuge crisis represents a major turning point in the international management of conflict-driven population displacement.

New “humanitarian order” as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood step into the void:

There are many examples in the Middle East of political movements that gained a foothold among the population through social welfare activities. Such was the case of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood – all of which had generous welfare programs in societies where governments tended to ignore the needs of the poor. Social welfare thus became a political weapon not only in the hands of those who managed it but even more so in those who provided the funding. The Syrian crisis was to highlight this new humanitarian order.

The author first contends that Muslim countries are fueling the conflict in Syria as well as funding the NGOs:

The same pattern has emerged as regards humanitarian assistance. In February 2013, at the Kuwait funding conference, some $1.5 billion in humanitarian aid was pledged by the Gulf states. However, with the exception of Kuwait, which donated $112 million to UNHCR, all these contributions were channeled through Islamic NGOs rather than through the UN system.

There is a lot more, read it all.

Since Western NGOs are so reluctant to play favorites and thus bend over backwards to prove they love the Muslims just as much, is anyone focusing on helping Syrian CHRISTIANS?
