Minneapolis to celebrate Somali independence day—July 1

The newly elected Minneapolis City Council member, Abdi Warsame, has been a busy guy lately.  On Friday he presented a resolution to the city council to proclaim July 1 ‘Somali American Day’ to celebrate the African country’s independence from Italy and the UK.   (And we all know how well that worked out!).  Then he lead a protest against Kenya.

Somalicurrent – The Minneapolis City Council voted Friday to mark July 1 as “Somali American day” in the city, which is home to many immigrants from the east African country.

The date holds significance among Somalis, who celebrate independence day on July 1 both in Somalia and the United States diaspora.

Abdi Warsame, the first Somali-American on the Minneapolis City Council, praised the resolution at a council meeting on Friday. A gathering of Somali-American men were in attendance.

“This is a very important resolution for me,” Warsame said. “And it actually came from the elders and the community leaders who wanted to highlight the contributions, the culture, the values of the Somali-American community, which is a large and growing population in the city of Minneapolis.”

The July 1 independence day commemorates when the Somali Republic was created by uniting two territories previously controlled by Italy and Britain.

Meanwhile, as we know, Kenya is trying to save itself from Somali terrorists (remember the Westgate Mall slaughter) and Minneapolis Somalis are protesting against Kenya.

And, look who is denying that Somalis had anything to do with the Mall attack—Abdi Warsame—appropriately reported at Al-Shahid network:

With especial interview to voice of America Somali service, Minneapolis council member, Abdi Warsame, who hails from Somalia, has told that hundreds of Somalis in Minnesota marched the streets for showing their refusal of Kenyan indiscriminate harassment against Somalis.

“We can’t bear this twenty first century that our citizens are harassed. I am calling Kenya to stop this brutal action. Somalis are not terrorists. They are not responsible the terrorist attacks in the country”, Abdi Warsame, the first Somali man who hold such post in American territory said.

If Warsame really wanted to help “his country,” he could return to Africa and help Somalia lift itself out of squalor and chaos rather than run his mouth from the safety of Minneapolis!

Norway: Muslim migrants sending their kids “home” for schooling

Well, so much for these migrants to Norway being there for asylum, for protection from persecution, if they think it’s perfectly fine to return kids (alone!) to Pakistan, Iraq and Somalia for a proper education.

A politically-correct Institute for Social Research says it’s because the kids aren’t doing well in Norway because they don’t speak Norwegian well enough.  Give me a break!  Toward the end of the story we learn the real reason—no Muslim schools in Norway and so the kiddies aren’t getting their Islamic training!

So, are the Muslim immigrants wanting to become part of Norwegian society or are they invaders?  See Al-Hijra.

Several hundred Somali-Norwegian children are sent to schools in Somalia, Kenya, Egypt and the UK, according to a recent report. The main reason is that their parents are unhappy with the Norwegian school system.

“Parents often experience that their children are regarded as weak students, mostly because they do not speak Norwegian as well as other kids their age. It worries these parents that their children are not challenged enough in Norway,” says Hilde Lidén at the Norwegian Institute for Social Research (ISF).

Lidén is one of several researchers that have looked at the phenomenon that many children with a minority backgorund are sent abroad to attend school. It is most common among children with a background from Pakistan and Iraq, she reports.

13% of Somali kids in Norway (in one year!) have left the country and authorities don’t really know where they are!  Could they be on the US border claiming to be “unaccompanied minors?”

Just under 1900 children, or 13 percent of all children with a Somali background, emigrated in 2012. Around 60 percent of these children are likely to have moved out of Norway alone. However, this is only an indication of how many that may have moved abroad to attend to school, as there are no exact figures available.

Finally, the OTHER reason they may have left—to get a STRONG cultural and religious indoctrination into Islamic supremacist thinking.

Lidén points out that there may also be other reasons for why a family chooses to send their children abroad temporarily. To ensure that the children receive a strong cultural and religious foundation from their home country is one of them.

Aftenposten writes that several parents have reported that if there was a Muslim school option in Norway they would be more likely to let their children stay at home. Their mothers, however, are worried that the children do not learn enough about Islamic culture and values in Norway without attending an Islamic school.

Hey, here is an idea!  The whole family could stay in the home country and they wouldn’t have to live with the dilemma!

Oregon: Ho hum! Another convenience store, another Burmese criminal….

….and further confirmation that we are admitting Burmese Muslims to the US (and dumb ones to boot!).

In our previous post we reported Burmese in Michigan ripping off the food stamp program, a few days ago it was a Burmese murder in Pennsylvania, and now it’s a murder-for-hire plot in Oregon in the busy (and growing***) Burmese “community” of America.

Diversity is strength alert!  Bringing their culture to a town near you!

Mohdsidek Habibullah

Mohdsidek Habibullah claimed the plot to kill his 45-year-old business partner — who ran a Southeast Portland convenience store with him — was all a big joke.

That was despite secretly acquired audio recordings of Habibullah talking about wanting to use a .357 handgun to shoot business partner Mohammed Absar in the head, a part of the body he thought would make less of a bloody mess.

And that was despite the recently purchased black shirt, pants, gloves and mask police found in the trunk of his car. Habibullah claimed they were gardening clothes.

And Habibullah — a 50-year-old immigrant from Burma — continued to proclaim his innocence despite the $1,100 prosecutors say he handed over to a known criminal to buy him a gun and a car that would be used to dispose of the body. Prosecutors say that when the criminal showed up with the car and it was red, he asked him to spray-paint it black to make it less conspicuious.

After two days of trial, Multnomah County Circuit Judge Jerry Hodson didn’t need a recess before finding Habibullah guilty Thursday of the attempted aggravated murder and attempted murder of Absar. The men had known each other for about 10 years, and Habibullah spent the bulk of the day running the Stop-N-Go Market off of Southeast 122nd Avenue while Absar would often spend a few hours at the end of each day closing it down.

Here is one accounting of how many we have resettled over the last 12+ years from Burma (Myanmar) and camps in Thailand.  They are still coming by the thousands!

*Burmese refugees resettled in the US since 2001: 97,713

*Chin Refugees resettled in the US since 2001: 30,453

*Karen Refugees resettled in the US since 2001: 57,962

*The rest ethnic groups from Burma in the US since 2001: 9297

This last number above would include Burmese Muslims/Rohingya

Michigan: Burmese now scamming food stamp program

Longtime readers know we follow food stamp fraud as a hobby here at RRW.  Most fraud stories we come across don’t involve refugees per se (mostly other legal immigrants of one sort or another) and we have been posting them over to the facebook page, ‘Diversity’s Dark Side’, here.

Now, here is a story, thanks again to ‘pungentpeppers,’ from earlier this month about Burmese in Lansing, Michigan catering to the large Burmese population there and offering an opportunity for the refugees to cash in on food stamp fraud.

Just a reminder that we have, in the last ten years, resettled about 100,000 Burmese in the US.  Give a large number of certain ethnic groups a few years and they will begin to figure out how to scam good ol’ Uncle Sam.

From the Lansing State Journal (emphasis mine):

GRAND RAPIDS — The co-owner of a now-closed Lansing Asian grocery store has pleaded guilty in federal court to food stamp fraud and will pay about $41,000 in restitution, court records show.

The case against Aye Aye Soe, who owned Golden Burma Asian Grocery and Gifts with her husband, began last year with prosecutors alleging nearly $300,000 in food stamp fraud. But a plea agreement filed in March says the federal government lost between $30,000 and $70,000.

Attorney:  It was a cultural misunderstanding!

Soe’s attorney, Bill Hankins, said his client made mistakes that resulted from not paying attention to detail. He also said there were cultural misunderstandings.

A plea hearing was held Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids. Soe admitted paying customers cash in exchange for swiping their Bridge Cards for a larger amount.   [She will pay restitution but serve no jail time!—ed]

Then get this next section of the report!  If it was needed for their “Burmese culture,”  it is somehow o.k. ?  Since when are blankets and makeup something especially culturally important to the Burmese?  Doesn’t everyone need blankets and makeup?  And, why is that any excuse ?

Hankins said Soe, a native of Burma who has become a U.S. citizen, mostly served the area’s large Burmese community.

Soe also admitted allowing customers to use their Bridge Cards to buy items that were not eligible for reimbursement, court documents say. Hankins said items included blankets and makeup — something he said is important in Burmese culture.

Ninety percent of the stores business was through the use of food stamp debit cards (!), and since most of the customers were Burmese, sure looks like it is widespread food stamp fraud in the Burmese community of Lansing, MI.

Soe’s store on South Cedar Street opened in 2009, according to the indictment. Hankins said it was forced to close late last year after the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which administers the food stamp program, removed the store’s Bridge Card machine. He said 90 percent of the store’s business was through Bridge Cards.

Ah, America!  The land of easy cash from the Bridge Card machines!

Illinois: Court hearing today to compel man with TB to stay out of the public

Update April 12th:  We still don’t know if Mbemba Ibanda (in his 20s) is a recent immigrant/refugee, but get this!  He didn’t show up for court yesterday when the whole courtroom had been fitted with masks.  The judge ordered an ankle bracelet and presumably officers of the court went out and found him and fitted him with his monitoring device.  Reuters story here.

We don’t know yet if Christian Mbemba Ibanda is a refugee (Congolese?) or some other legal immigrant, but may learn more today after a court hearing in Champaign County, IL.

CHAMPAIGN — For the second time in recent years, local health officials are turning to a state judge for help to keep a patient with tuberculosis from potentially spreading it around the community.

In a hearing set for Friday in which everyone in the room will be required to wear protective, tight-fitting masks, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District will ask Champaign County Associate Judge Chase Leonhard to order home isolation for the patient, Christian Mbemba Ibanda, of 100 Kenwood Road, C.

Public Health Administrator Julie Pryde said she hopes the judge will order Ibanda to wear an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet.

“He couldn’t go out, or it would beep and I’d have the police there,” she said. “Without that, I have nothing I can do about it other than camping outside his door.”

TB, a contagious bacterial disease that typically attacks the lungs, has been on the decline in the U.S.

But there’s still enough of it around to require one full-time public health nurse to tend to patients who have either active or latent TB in Champaign-Urbana, Pryde said.

The hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District at 201 W. Kenyon Road, C. Anyone attending will need to be there earlier for a protective mask fitting, Pryde said.

Proceedings like this are rare in Champaign County, but it’s the second time in her career with the health district that the county has had to bring a petition before the court to try and compel a TB patient to comply with home isolation and treatment, Pryde said.

And, while researching this story, I found this very thorough article about the number of refugees (ethnic groups) that have been resettled in welcoming Illinois.
