I wish now I had the time before I go away for a few days to post all the stories I had piled up about school systems across America in deep financial (and social) trouble due largely to the cost of educating immigrant children whose needs are enormous. I was planning a big post on the ‘towers of babel’ problem and wish now I had posted them individually.
Here is one, at the Nashville Scene (considered a far-Left publication) entitled: As Nashville’s immigrant population grows, Metro public schools are straining at the seamsthat just came in this morning and will leave it to you to read.
The Nashville public school system is deteriorating as it struggles to educate students speaking 38 languages (we have actually seen some school systems with more than that number of languages) and who come from impoverished immigrant homes, while Nashville citizens who can afford it, are pulling their kids out of the public schools.
Mishell [the immigrant star of the story—ed] attends Overton High School, considered one of the entry points for Nashville’s immigrant population into the public school system, and hence into American life. It’s a stone’s throw from tony private Franklin Road Academy, and just three minutes from the governor’s mansion.
But it might as well be in another country. The school is bursting at the seams, and a staggering 70 percent of its student body — that’s 7 out of every 10 kids — comes from a low-income family.
That hurdle is compounded by a vast communications gap. At Overton, which serves South Nashville’s sprawling mix of immigrant cultures, some 38 separate languages are spoken. At nearby high schools Glencliff and Antioch, according to the state report card, more than 1 in 6 students are trying to learn English while speaking another language at home.
For new readers we have an entire category (74 previous posts!) on the problems Nashville has had going back years as a preferred refugee resettlement site. I find reader shocked to learn that Nashville is so far gone, it is such an unlikely place for massive demographic change.
Photos: I am sure there are more I could post of those responsible for the travesty Nashville’s public school system faces, but I am running out of time before I go away—be back Monday (the 20th) to post your comments.
Speaking in the United Arab Emirates (of all places), Socialist UN High Commissioner for Refugees admonishes European nations (again)—allow more Syrian refugees into your countries!
SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (AP) – The head of the United Nations refugee agency on Wednesday urged countries, particularly in Europe, to review their laws to allow entry to more Syrians fleeing their country’s civil war.
Antonio Guterres said on the sidelines of a conference in the United Arab Emirates that a refugee crisis across the Middle East is a global security threat. He urged more legal avenues for Syrian refugees to resettle in Europe, and avoid risking their lives with smugglers.
“This is not only the worst humanitarian crisis in the last decades, it is also the biggest threat to regional peace and security,” he said. “It’s a global threat.”
Blah, Blah, Blah…
Then near the end. Remember that some wealthy Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, TAKE NO REFUGEES:
The conference was hosted by Sharjah ruler Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi and his wife Sheikha Jawaher.
The United Arab Emirates, along with the five other energy-rich nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council, have been criticized by rights groups for not opening their borders to refugees from the myriad of conflicts across the region.
Guterres said he is calling on all countries, everywhere, to do more. [Maybe, but it is Europe, the US, Canada and Australia he chastises on a regular basis!—ed]
Is Guterres too chicken or is his goal to help spread the Muslim population worldwide?

It is not just Muslim migrants over-running Europe and expecting services, here is a story from London about Romanians living in the subway system. They say they will move if given homes.
From the Daily Mailwhich always seems to find the most interesting news! (hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’):
A gang of Romanian beggars sleeping rough on one of London’s most exclusive streets today demanded: ‘We’re EU citizens, give us houses’.
The 40-strong group sleeping in a subway under Park Lane have been accused of turning it into a ‘slum’ having lived in various camps near Marble Arch for 18 months.
Local businesses believe they have driven away customers because of the mess and members of the group urinating in the street and fighting with rivals.
Today the group said they are willing to pack up their cardboard boxes if Westminster Council found them homes.
Read it all. Besides being a nuisance and responsible for an up-tick in petty crime, local businesses say their ‘camps’ are bad for business—check out the photos!
How much time before we see encampments like these in American subways and parks?

Here is more proof for my case that Sweden will be the first socialist ‘heaven’ to fall under the weight of needy migrant hordes—mostly Muslim migrants!
I’ve noticed here, even at tiny RRW, that we get more visitors reading about Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands or the UKthan we often do about some juicy American news. A blogger friend once told me that the reason for that is that the European press hardly touches the verboten topic.
The Englishman Iain Channing returns to Sweden, the country he lived in during the 1980s. What has happened to the safe and well ordered country that was so admired throughout the world? Do people really appreciate the politicians’ radical experiment in social engineering? And what about Malmö – Sweden’s preeminent test tube?
To understand how things have reached this pass—when an ordinary working class guy resorts to a self-censorship gesture used in communist countries—you only need to read the Swedish press. Mass immigration is not quite a taboo, but all criticism of it is censored, distorted or demonized. An almost daily barrage of hate and slander is directed at the Sweden Democrats (SD), the anti-immigration party that is now shaking up Sweden’s cosy coalition-based politics. “SD are trying to delude the working class.” “SD are still racists!” “How far to the right will [SD leader] Jimmy Åkesson go?”
Every single newspaper story I read about SD in a month in Sweden—and there were a lot, because its rise (to 10 percent in the polls) has become a real headache for the establishment—was negative and often littered with childish, abusive epithets originating in World War II. In such an environment, the party does not list an address on its website, and its three top leaders require police protection.
Channing goes on to discuss how Swedes are finding alternative media for their news on the issue that they are most concerned about…
It is all about immigration, immigration, immigration!
….the issue of immigration will not go away. On the contrary, the unmentionable topic has become a national obsession. According to columnist Hakelius, “[people who send me letters now] are interested in one thing: immigration. The discussion can begin wherever it likes, but it always ends with immigration. Immigration, immigration, immigration, immigration, immigration.”
