Thailand to deport latest groups of Rohingya asylum seekers

What is a country to do—just about anywhere in the world these days massive numbers of migrants are on the move looking for jobs and social services.

In and around Southeast Asia it’s impossible to do the Greek model of border security.

Thailand won’t let this latest group of Rohingya Muslim asylum seekers stay and the UN is not happy.

In Australia those arriving by boat get to stay, but are placed in detention and there is almost daily news about the pressure on the government there to not be so inhumane.   So, what is a country that wishes to survive do?

Here is the latest fuming from the NGOs and the UN:

Thai authorities say Rohingya Muslim refugees allegedly fleeing sectarian violence and persecution in western Burma must be sent back to their homeland.

The 73 migrants, including women and children, were found drifiting in a small, overcrowded boat off the Thai resort town of Phuket, well short of their final destination of Malaysia.

Thai authorities intercepted the boat, which had been at sea for 13 days, and provided the refugees with food and supplies on Tuesday. But local media reported Wednesday they have been arrested and ordered to return to Burma by land.

Sunai Phasuk, a senior researcher with Human Rights Watch, says that Thailand should suspend any plan to deport the refugees until the United Nations refugee agency has a chance to determine whether they have legitimate claims for protection.

He says Thai authorities, who are reluctant to absorb migrant workers from neighboring countries, must come up with a better policy for dealing with boat people.

Then here is more—UN puts pressure on Thailand.  (see the photo, Camp of the Saints anyone?)

It is just a matter of time before the US steps in and says to countries like Thailand (as they did Malta), heck we will take a few off your hands.

Come to think of it, where are the nations of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) with their Muslim charity?  They should be taking in their Muslim brethren!

For new readers:  This is our 130th post on the Rohingya issue, here.

Iran and the OIC double-teaming Burma on Rohingya issue

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the government of Iran both plan to send delegations to Burma (Myanmar) to give that Buddhist country a tongue-lashing about their alleged mistreatment of the Rohingya minority there.  (Remember the monks!)

Here is the story about the OIC delegation.  And, here, Iran gets into the action to defend what they call the most persecuted minority on the planet.   This is all to advance the Muslims-are-victims meme from this bunch.

The latest round of violence in Burma began early last summer when Muslim men raped and murdered a Buddhist girl (no one wants to remember that!).

And, as I pointed out here just last Saturday there seems to be no interest in bashing MUSLIM Bangladesh for its treatment of Rohingya.  If the rich Islamists of the OIC wanted to really help the Rohingya they would be pouring money into the refugee camps in Bangladesh!

One side benefit for the Islamists in beating this drum is that the clamor to resettle Rohingya in the West (especially the United States) will increase thus advancing the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration!

Muslim Bangladesh doesn’t want more Muslim (Rohingya) refugees

So, they are now banning some aide groups fearing those groups only attract more Rohingya.  I have such a backlog of things I want to post today, so I’m just throwing this one up so as to keep our Rohingya category up-to-date and to make the point again that although Muslims claim to be the most charitable “religion” in the world they are pretty rotten to their own people.

Just a little background, these camps discussed in the story are mostly in and around Cox’s Bazar which has in the past been a breeding ground for Islamist terrorist groups (take my word for it we have posts going back 5 years confirming that).  Also, remember that the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) wanted to get into Burma to aid the Muslims there and the largely Buddhist country said no.

So my solution to this is let the money-bags of the OIC feed/clothe/house these Muslims in the Muslim country of Bangladesh.

Here is the story about the ban on some western NGOs.

COX’S BAZAR, 17 December 2012 (IRIN) – Some 40,000 undocumented Rohingya refugees are being adversely affected by a government ban four months ago on NGOs working at two makeshift sites in southeastern Bangladesh.

In August, Bangladeshi authorities ordered three NGOs – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Action Against Hunger and Muslim Aid UK – to stop the formal delivery of humanitarian services, including health care and nutrition assistance to undocumented Rohingya refugees, saying such services would encourage more to flee to Bangladesh.

According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), there are more than 200,000 Rohingyas in Bangladesh, of whom only 30,000 are documented and living in two government camps assisted by the agency.

Some 12,000 documented refugees live at the Kutupalong camp in Cox’s Bazar District, with another nearly 18,000 further south at Nayapara – both within 2km of Myanmar. The 40,000 undocumented refugees live on the periphery of the two official camps.

Documented refugees are provided food rations by the World Food Programme (WFP), along with shelter assistance, non-food items, water/sanitation services, vocational training and supplementary feeding for malnourished refugees by UNHCR.

However, most Rohingya – a mainly Muslim ethnic group who fled persecution en masse to Bangladesh from Myanmar’s neighbouring Rakhine State years earlier – are undocumented.

UNHCR has not been permitted to register newly arriving Rohingya since mid-1992.

Only those who are documented receive regular assistance, while those who are undocumented are largely dependent on a handful of international NGOs who until recently were allowed to work in the area.

Why do we care about the UNHCR in Bangladesh and Burma?  Because if the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has its way, more Rohingya will be coming to your towns and cities.  From testimony at the May 2012 hearing held by the US State Department about resettlements for 2013:

…..one thing that jumped out at me in what I’ve read so far (or heard at the meeting) is that no one spoke for Christians persecuted by Muslims!  The US Conference of Catholic Bishops never even mentioned them, but they sure asked the State Department to send more Muslims to the US, in particular, they want more Somalis and Rohingya* (Burmese Muslims)!   Several of those testifying also called for the prompt re-opening of the P-3 family reunification program that has been closed for nearly 4 years due to the widespread fraud uncovered involving Africans, mostly Somalis.  The State Department has reported that as many as 36,000 Africans entered the US fraudulently in a 5 year period after 9/11!

Rohingya update: Islamic organization finds another way to get into Burma

We reported, here, in October that thousands of Buddhist monks came out to protest the announcement that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was planning to set up shop in Burma.  The monks carried signs that said “Get out OIC” and “we are not an Islamic country.”    The monks prevailed and the OIC was banned.

Now I see that the OIC has grabbed onto the coattails of the Indonesian Red Cross in order to get their foothold in the Buddhist country, here in the Jakarta Post.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) are in talks to jointly launch a humanitarian mission for refugees of the deadly conflict between the Rohingya and Rakhine ethnic groups in Myanmar.

OIC secretary-general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and PMI chairman usuf Kalla discussed the operation in a closed meeting at PMI headquarters on Monday.

Kalla said after the meeting that the organizations would send food and help rebuild homes in the area.

“The value of the aid is quite big and will be used for various purposes. Currently, the refugees desperately need food, clean water and homes,” he said after the meeting, declining to mention the exact value of the aid or a deadline for the mission.

Obama lectured Burmese leaders in the press afterward!

I’m trying to clear out my backlog of stories and I never reported this one from when Obama did his Asian swing in November.

From BDNews (Bangladesh):

New York, Nov 19 (bdnews24.com)—US President Barak Obama on Tuesday urged Myanmar to give citizenship to hundreds of thousands of stateless Rohingyas in the west of the country where ethnic bloodshed has caused massive displacement.

After Obama’s landmark visit to the reclusive South-East Asian nation, the White House in a press briefing said the Myanmar government responded positively to the issue.

Although the Royingyas in Myanmar claim themselves as aborigines, they are yet to get state recognition.

The operative word there is “claim.”  Others claim that Rohingya Muslims are illegal aliens from Bangladesh.

Now, get this!  Obama must not have told them to their face that they need to give citizenship to Rohingya, but did it from his plane while jetting to Cambodia.

The statement came on board Air Force One, the US President’s private jet, as he was going to Cambodia after the six-hour Myanmar trip.

Samantha Power surfaces; wants to bring the Arab Spring to Southeast Asia

Update November 19th:  Human rights activist Aung San Suu Kyi does not look very happy as Obama butchers the pronunciation of her name here, and gives her a hug here.  Was the hug before or after the reprimand on the Rohingya?  I don’t think all this hugging is common in Asia, did anyone tell Obama?

Update November 18th:  Power is being named as possible UN Ambassador if fellow “vulcan” Rice is nominated for the State Department, here.   But, here is another scenario, if Susan Rice is shot down in the next few weeks over Benghazi, would Obama put Power up for the State Department.   We should all be very afraid.

Oh, no!  She and Obama have brought the Muslim Brotherhood to power in North Africa and now they are going on to mess up Southeast Asia!   And, they are wasting no time….

Samantha Power, the White House “humanitarian vulcan” (no rinkey-ding do-gooder stuff!), who was supposed to reform the Refugee Resettlement Program when Obama first took office in 2009 has been hiding out lately (while creating more refugees!).  I’ve been following her career— as one of the three proponents of the “responsibility to protect” (others include Hillary and Susan Rice). She was responsible for our Libyan adventure where we basically ousted a dictator, but are now letting Al Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood run rampant.

During the recent cover-up on the Benghazi terror attack she was mysteriously out of the picture.  I’m figuring Obama wanted to keep her untainted in the scandal so she will be available for some higher position in his next Administration.

But, now we see she is out and about and talking about Obama’s trip to Burma (Myanmar) where I expect he will scold the government for being so mean to the Rohingya Muslims.  He will probably also put pressure on Aung San Suu Kyi who has so far refused to jump into the controversy and take the Rohingya side.   As we reported here—after huge protests by monks, the Myanmar government had the audacity to disallow the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to set up shop in the country.  I don’t know for sure, but that probably makes Burma the only country in the world to tell the OIC to shove it.  Obama and Power were probably furious!

***Update November 16th:  Aung San Suu Kyi continues to tick-off the “human rights” cabal for not speaking up in defense of the Muslims.  Here is one of many stories on the subject.***

If you are a new reader, you might be asking why we are talking about Burma here at RRW.  BECAUSE we are bringing Rohingya “refugees” to the US and federal contractors like the US Conference of Catholic Bishops want more.  Heck some Rohingya probably voted for Obama in New Hampshire last week!  So, please take time to learn about the on-going battle between the Buddhists and the Muslims in Burma.

Ms. Power (and Obama) helped destabilize North Africa (with the theory that we can go to war and destabilize governments to “help” people) and now, again under the guise of protecting “human rights”, she likely has her sights set on destabilizing the (wobbly) Burmese government as well.  For all of you who thought Obama would keep us out of foreign engagements/entanglements, or LOL! out of “democracy building” (wasn’t that a Bush thing?), you can forget about it!

Obama going to Burma (heaven help the Buddhists!)

Here is the news account that popped up today from Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – International human rights activists met senior White House officials on Tuesday to press President Barack Obama to take a tough line with leaders in Myanmar and Cambodia during his forthcoming Southeast Asia tour.

The talks, which included Samantha Power, a top Obama adviser and outspoken expert on genocide, touched on what the president will say during his landmark visit to Myanmar to prod the quasi-civilian government to do more to curb sectarian violence, activists said.  [The violence began this time when Rohingya men gang-raped a Buddhist girl, but they don’t ever tell you that—ed]

The visit, part of a November 17-20 swing through Southeast Asia, would be the first U.S. presidential trip to Myanmar, also known as Burma. Obama is going ahead with the visit despite rights groups’ criticism it is premature because reforms have yet to be consolidated after decades of military rule.

A top official with a leading rights organization provided details of the meeting on condition of anonymity. Roughly half a dozen activists took part in the talks at the White House.

They left the meeting satisfied that Obama intends to push hard on human rights and political and economic reform in closed-door talks with reformist President Thein Sein and in his public remarks, including a speech.

Here is what they are really aiming for—helping build the image around the world of victimized Muslims (again)!

But a Reuters investigation into a wave of sectarian assaults on minority Muslims in western Myanmar painted a troubling picture: the attacks were organized, central-government military sources told Reuters. They were led by nationalists in Myanmar’s Rakhine state tied to a powerful political party there, incited by Buddhist monks, and, some witnesses said, abetted at times by local security forces.

The “hawk” has her own White House blog:

Power, considered a “humanitarian hawk” within the administration, wrote a blog on the White House website last week signaling that Obama would use the Myanmar trip to pressure the government to do more on human rights.

So what does she say in her blog post?

Yesterday’s announcement that President Obama will become the first U.S. President to visit Burma marks an historic step in the United States’ engagement with Burma. In the past year, since President Obama first noted “flickers of progress” in Burma – and since Secretary Clinton became the most senior U.S. official to visit since 1955 – we have seen continued progress on the road to democracy.

After listing a litany of ‘improvements,’ she launches into what they are really pushing with this trip—-the meme that the poor victimized Rohingya need saving from the evil Buddhists.   Her wording below leaves readers believing  that the death and homelessness is all on the Muslim side—she is a liar!

We are clear-eyed about the challenges that Burma faces. The peril faced by the stateless Rohingya population in Rakhine State is particularly urgent, and we have joined the international community in expressing deep concern about recent violence that has left hundreds dead, displaced over 110,000, and destroyed thousands of homes.

The Arab Spring was a disaster for freedom of religion and human liberty, but you wouldn’t know it from reading the “hawk.”   They’ve exhausted and destablized Africa and are now headed to Southeast Asia to bring them “democracy” Obama-style whether they like it or not!

Power:

In May 2011, as the Arab Spring took hold, the President noted that America’s interests are served when ordinary people are empowered to chart their own political and economic futures. And to governments, he made a promise: if you take the risks that reform entails, you will have the full support of the United States.

President Thein Sein should tell Obama, thanks but no thanks!   And, besides, we can not guarantee your safety here.

Remember, you read it here first—-Obama sells out Burma to the Islamists/Muslim Brotherhood!  And, as chaos ensues we bring more Muslim refugees to the US from Burma to save them from mean monks.
