New York Times and Iran helping fan the flames in Burma

I’ll wager at this very moment the Islamist sympathizers in the US State Department (and Samantha Power in the White House where she worked her magic on Libya) are working overtime to figure out how to save the poor Rohingya Muslims from those bad racist Buddhists in Burma.

They are probably working on some insane airlift idea just to prove to the Muslim world that Americans are good people!

I simply have no more time this morning to write one more loooong story on Burma and the on-going public relations campaign by so-called human rights activists who are pushing only one theme out of Burma/Myanmar and that is the story that the Rohingya are VICTIMS.   It is maddening to open my Rohingya alerts every day and to have watched over the last five years how this story has been spun and spun and spun.  What a bunch of sheep!

To make my point, I recommend these stories from my alerts today—The New York Times re-posting from the International Herald Tribune, here.  Or, this one from the UK Independent (benighted minority indeed!).  And, for a good laugh, Iran calls it genocide!

You know what has them all fuming and furious?  The fact that the Burmese government, encouraged by Buddhist monks, had the audacity to say NO to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation here which wanted to set up shop in their Buddhist country!

Note to volunteers in the refugee resettlement business, be on the lookout for more Muslims from Burma arriving in your towns (they may not be labelled as Rohingya), but if you have already resettled hundreds of Christians or Buddhists from Burma you will notice the animosity toward the new arrivals—long simmering tension is not going to melt in America!

One more thing!  (gee, now I am getting long after all).  Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese human rights activist refusing the politically correct Muslims-are-victims meme and now being chastised because she hasn’t jumped when the Islamists and their sympathizers say “jump,” had it right recently at Harvard (from that NYT article):

During a forum at Harvard’s Kennedy School last month, according to a story on Global Post, a student from Thailand asked Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi to “explain why you have been so reluctant” to comment about the oppression of the Rohingya.

“The mood in the room suddenly shifted,” the article said. “Suu Kyi’s tone and expression changed. With an edge in her voice, she answered: ‘You must not forget that there have been human rights violations on both sides of the communal divide. It’s not a matter of condemning one community or the other. I condemn all human rights violations.’ ”

Some asylum seekers in Europe pretend to be Rohingya

Here is a new twist in the asylum racket.

Since Rohingya Muslims from Burma/Bangladesh are being promoted as the most persecuted people on the planet (a claim we have challenged here for years), some illegal immigrants are claiming they are Rohingya Muslims in Europe and in Canada in hopes of getting the much-coveted refugee status.

From WeeklyBlitz.net:

Following publication of the report titled ‘Fake Rohingyas entering Western countries’ in Blitz, we have been receiving specific information from various sources from a number of Western countries, where Bangladeshi nationals have already sought political asylum pretending to be Ronhigyas born in Arakan. According to our sources, only during 2011-2012, a few thousand fake Rohingyas already sought political asylum only in the European nations, while a significant number of so-called Rohingyas are also reportedly seeking asylum in Canada.

That is the important news.  Most of the remainder of the story is pro-Rohingya propaganda being promoted by the ‘humanitarian’ lobby.

Burma: Violence escalates again between Buddhists and Muslim Rohingya

I continue to write about faraway Burma (Myanmar) because American readers need to know that there is an on-going push by federal refugee contractors to bring Rohingya Muslims to the US for resettlement.   So, please pay attention to what is happening in Burma so you might be able to protest any big push for more Rohingya resettlement.

Here is the latest news on renewed violence, from Time* magazine:

Buddhists say the Muslims are attempting to out-breed them and thus win the “fertility war”:

The bloodshed has polarized Burma, which is officially known as Myanmar. Some people from Burma’s ethnic Bamar (or Burman) nationality, which shares a Buddhist faith with the Arakanese, accuse the Muslim Rohingya of being recent illegal immigrants from nearby Bangladesh. They contend that the Rohingya, most of whom do not have Burmese citizenship, should be deported. The Bangladeshi government also refuses most members of the 800,000-strong community citizenship. When I was in Sittwe, the capital of Arakan state earlier this year, Arakanese told me they felt that the Rohingya were waging a kind of fertility war by procreating more prolifically than the local Buddhist population.

Aung San Suu Kyi had fallen for the ‘diversity is strength myth’!

President Thein Sein, a retired general who has introduced a series of reforms in one of the world’s most closed societies, has stated that the Rohingya are not Burmese nationals. Earlier this month, the Burmese President prevented the Organization of the Islamic Conference from opening up offices in Burma, after Buddhist clerics protested the Muslim body’s proposed entry into the country. Even Burma’s democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi has tended to shy away publicly from the ethnic issue, although while on a trip to the U.S. last month she did address the fragile state of Burmese ethnic unity: “We have to learn to live together as a union. We had great hopes that our diversity would be our strength. Those hopes have not been realized. We owe it to the world, to all those who have supported us, to make that change.”

Who is more deadly?  Arakanese or Rohingya?

On social media, both the Arakanese and Rohingya have claimed fatalities from the latest violence. The Associated Press, which had a photographer in Arakan, reported that one local hospital was filled with only Arakanese victims. But the wire service cautioned that might have been because the Rohingya were too frightened to visit a government-run institution. An official in the Burmese President’s office contends that intervention by Burmese military forces prevented the bloodshed from escalating further.

* This (below) is what I reported in a post in 2009 about an earlier (2002!) story from Time that they seem to have forgotten:

Here is what Time magazine said about Rohingya on October 14, 2002 in an article entitled, ‘Deadly Cargo’ by Alex Perry.  What, no search function at Time?

Today, southern Bangladesh has become a haven for hundreds of jihadis on the lam. They find natural allies in Muslim guerrillas from India hiding out across the border, and in Muslim Rohingyas, tens of thousands of whom fled the ethnic and religious suppression of the Burmese military junta in the late 1970s and 1980s. Many Rohingyas are long-term refugees, but some are trained to cause trouble back home in camps tolerated by a succession of Bangladeshi governments. The original facilities date back to 1975, making them Asia’s oldest jihadi training camps. And one former Burmese guerrilla who visits the camps regularly describes three near Ukhia, south of the town of Cox’s Bazar, as able to accommodate a force of 2,500 between them.

For new readers we have been cataloging news on Rohingya for five years and have 122 previous posts at our Rohingya Reports category.

We didn’t see the Somali waves coming twenty years ago, but we have no excuse now not to raise an alarm when the US State Department via the United Nations pushes Rohingya resettlement.

Wow! Monks in Burma say no to Islamist organization in their Buddhist country

Go monks!

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the largest Islamist political organization in the world.  This week 3000-5000 Burmese monks said, “get out OIC” and “we are not an Islamic country.”

I first saw the story here, but now I see that even the Washington Post ran the story today.  This latest protest follows an uprising of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar (Burma) earlier this summer.   For new readers this is all very interesting to us since the US State Department and federal refugee contractors are just itching to bring more Rohingya “refugees” to the US.

(Going back almost five years we have 121 previous posts in our Rohingya category, here.)

The OIC says they want to provide aid to the Rohingya, but the monks understand that the Islamists want a foothold and to further inflame tensions between Buddhists and the Rohingya minority (the Buddhists say the Rohingya are really illegal aliens from Bangladesh).

From AP at the Washington Post:

YANGON, Myanmar — Myanmar’s government said it will not allow the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to open a liaison office after thousands of Buddhist monks and laypeople marched Monday to protest the plan.

Sectarian tensions have been running high in Myanmar’s western Rakhine state after clashes in June between Rakhine Buddhists and Bengali Rohingya Muslims which left nearly 90 people dead and displaced tens of thousands. Muslim mosques and Buddhist temples were burned down during the unrest.

Myanmar’s state press had reported that the government and the OIC had agreed last month to open an office in Yangon to provide aid for people displaced by the fighting, and the OIC sent a team to investigate the violence.

On Monday, the Information Ministry cited the President’s Office as saying that “the opening of the OIC office will not be allowed as it is contradictory to the aspirations of the people.”

The OIC has 57 member states and seeks to be the voice of the Islamic world.

The anti-OIC protests were held in four Myanmar cities, including Yangon, the country’s largest city, where about 5,000 people participated. Some said they were marching to safeguard Buddhism.

[…..]

Holding banners reading “We don’t want OIC” and “Long live Buddhism,” the protesters marched from the Shwedagon pagoda to Sule pagoda in the city center, shouting slogans against the OIC and paralyzing traffic in the area.

[…..]

Reflecting widespread public opinion, the head of an influential privately owned news magazine, Weekly Eleven, said there was no need for an OIC office because “we are not a member of the OIC and we are not an Islamic country.”

If only America’s leaders would have the same fortitude as the monks of Myanmar!

Rohingya Muslim refugees riot, burn Buddhist temples in Bangladesh

Update October 17th:  Buddhist monks demonstrate against Islamic organization coming to Burma, here.

Supposedly the Rohingya “refugees” were angry about a facebook insult ….. ho hum

Here is the latest from Reuters:

(Reuters) – Bangladesh accused Muslim Rohingya refugees from Myanmar on Monday of involvement in attacks on Buddhist temples and homes in the southeast and said the violence was triggered by a photo posted on Facebook that insulted Islam.

Thousands of Muslims went on a rampage in Buddhist areas of Bangladesh near the border on Saturday, setting ablaze more than a dozen temples and monasteries and at least 50 homes. Property was looted, including statues of the Buddha.

“The attacks on temples and houses in Buddhist localities in Ramu and neighboring areas in Cox’s Bazar (district) were perpetrated by radical Islamists,” Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir told reporters in Dhaka.

“Rohingyas and political opponents of the government were also involved in the attacks.”

He described the attacks as a “premeditated and deliberate attempt” to disrupt communal harmony.

Remember! Remember! Remember! that it is the Rohingya “refugees” at Cox’s Bazar that have been linked to Islamic terror groups in the past (here is my post from 2008).  And, remember that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops told the State Department in May that they wanted more Rohingya refugees in their federal contracts.

Remember we are already bringing Rohingya refugees to your towns.

And, remember that the US State Department has removed this listing of a Rohingya group from a terrorist watch list.
