What do you know! Al-Shabaab in the news again today

This morning we had more news about the Minneapolis Missing Somali youths and how they had likely gone off to join Al-Shabaab in Somalia.   Now here is a story about Human Rights Watch blaming the problems in Somalia on the United States (so what else is new?).    Hat tip:  Jerry Gordon.

The State Department protests charges that the US has made Somalia a battlefield in the war on terror by supporting the transitional government.   Heck, I can’t figure out what is going on there, but this is what interested me because I think it’s inaccurate.

The United States fears that Somalia could be a terrorist breeding ground, and accuses a powerful insurgent faction known as al-Shabab of harboring the al-Qaida-linked terrorists who allegedly blew up the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.

It seems to me that a more accurate statement is that we and other do-gooder western countries have been the “breeding ground” and Somalia is where we send all these strapping young men we raised to fight.

So, we might be making the situation in Somalia worse, as Human Rights Watch contends, but not in the way they think.

Since I haven’t mentioned it lately and we have new readers, we have resettled over 80,000 Somali refugees in the last 25 years and half of those have come since 9/11.

More on missing Minneapolis Somali youths, and gee Denmark’s are missing too

The saga of the missing Somali young men continues.  Here is the latest, from AP no less.   Hat tip for this post:  several friends from Tennessee.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Three Somali families tell similar stories: A son or nephew disappears. A passport is gone. Days later the phone rings, and the teen says he’s in Somalia.

The phone call is abrupt and short on details. And then, nothing.

Relatives of three teenagers say they fear their loved ones are victims, brainwashed to return to Somalia to fight. The impoverished nation on the Horn of Africa is caught up in an Islamic insurgency and hasn’t had a functioning government in 17 years.

“We are not sure who is responsible,” said Hussein Samatar, a community leader and uncle to a 17-year-old who traveled to Somalia. “But we, as a community, believe they have to be held accountable.”

Read on and see that their families want some explanations and that they are pointing a finger at the local mosque.   Actually I want some explanations too.  Are we breeding Islamic fighters in the State Department’s Refugee Resettlement program?   Many of these strapping young men who we have fed, housed, educated and kept healthy would be dead now in Somalia if they had been raised there.

Instead we raised them here so they could go back and fight as part of the Al Shabaab (youth movement) terrorist group whose goal is to establish Sharia Law.  We will just have to hope and pray they stay in Somalia (if they are there) and hope and pray the Obama Administration doesn’t decide to send Americans to Somalia to put down the growing insurgency.

Earlier reports identified the terrorist group Al-Shabaab as the group recruiting in Minnesota.  That is the group that has said it wants to send the West to hell.   Looks like they are on the rise in Somalia and establishing Sharia Law according to this news report from China:

MOGADISHU, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) — Ten people have been killed and nearly 16 others wounded in separate violent incidents in southern Somalia as an insurgent group announced formation of an Islamic administration in Merka, a southern port town, local media reports said Saturday.

[….]

In the southern port town of Merka, provincial capital of Lower Shabelle province, the Islamist Al-Shabaab movement, which controls the town, has set up “an Islamic administration” for the town which has been under their control since November.

Spokesman for the group, Sheik Muqtar Robow Abu Mansoor, told local residents in announcing the administration that it would serve the people and work to reconcile between them.

“The new administration will implement the (Islamic) Sharia Lawand will govern justly in the interest of the people in this town,” Abu Mansoor said.

Al-Shabaab controls a number of key towns and cities in southern Somalia and has formed similar administrations which implement strict Islamic Sharia law.

There is more!  Now, Danish Somalis are missing and presumed to have gone to Somalia as well to fight with Al-Shabaab.

More and more Somalis with a residence permit in Denmark are going to back their former homeland to get military training and religious school at the al-Qaeda related terror group al-Shabab. This has gotten the Danish intelligence service to pay more attention to Somalis living in Denmark, reports Politiken.

The head of the Somali Society in Aarhus, Abdirashid Sheikh Mohamud, is concerned about the development and calls it a “very sensitive area.”

“The government in Somalia has complained in the past about people from Scandinavia who support al-shabab either militarily or financially. I believe that about 15 people from Jutland traveled to Somalia to train with the group. In Zealand there are certainly several,” he says to Politiken.

He has unsuccessfully tried to warn against an extremist group among a small, non-integrated part of the 16,000 Somalis in Denmark.

New Islamic terrorists brought to you by immigration policies of  do-gooders in western countries.  Great, just great.

Start here to learn more about the Somalis missing in Minnesota.   Incidentally the Somali Islamic terrorists we raised in America may have been here illegally in the first place!

P.S.  We buried the first American Somali suicide bomber just last week.
