This story is about ten days old, but I’m just seeing it now. Interesting that it should be just around the same time as that Somali group in Portland was talking about getting voting rights for non-citizens in that “welcoming” city, here, in “welcoming” Maine.
From WMTW (Hat tip: Susan):
PORTLAND, Maine — Six people are in custody following a standoff that lasted for several hours in Portland on Friday.
Portland police said they were called to an apartment at 2 Pinewood Road in Riverton Park after a woman reported she was attacked by several people at a party.
Police said she fled the apartment and ran to a nearby 7 Eleven to call for help. Police said the woman told them she was threatened with a knife and had a cut on her hand.
Police said officers arrived at the scene at about 7 a.m.
Police said officers were told the people inside the apartment may be armed with guns. Nearby residents were evacuated, and the Portland special reaction and crisis negotiation teams were called to the scene.
At about 2:45 p.m., police said six people inside the apartment came out peacefully and were taken into custody.
They have been identified as Hassan Osman, 24, of Columbus Ohio; Biniam Tsegai, 24 of Portland; Hassan Akubar, 20, of Portland; Samantha Pecoraro, 26, a transient; and Mohamud Said, 24, of Portland.
What do we have some Somalis, maybe an Ethiopian, maybe an Egyptian? Maybe just a little multiculturalism gone wild I suppose.
