Another Somali terrorist going to trial in New York

This guy obviously isn’t a refugee, but when I noticed the FBI involved in his interrogation I figured they were fishing for information on America’s Somali missing refugee youths!  See ‘Al Shabaab capable of attacking inside the US,’ here.

From All Headline News (hat tip: Janet):

Nearly two months after secretly interrogating a Somali al-Qaeda suspect aboard a U.S. warship, military authorities have sent Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame, who is believed to have worked with Somali Islamic insurgent group al-Shabaab and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, to New York for a trial.

Prosecutors have charged Warsame, who is in his mid-20s, with possession of weapons, his alleged link with the two groups and seven other offenses. Warsame is also charged with training militants and brokering an arms’ deal with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula on al Shabaab’s behalf. If convicted, Warsame will face life imprisonment.

The Somali suspect was reportedly arrested two months ago while he was traveling between Yemen and Somalia on a fishing trawler. Military authorities took him to the U.S. ship for interrogation, where he was also questioned by FBI agents.

I’m all for putting these terrorists on trial in full public view in the US (not the 911 mastermind though) as I said here the other day about the Iraqi refugee alleged terrorists in Kentucky.  It’s important for the public to see what we are doing in the “war on terror”—put it on TV too!

Portland, ME Somalis want non-citizens to have voting rights

This is a story I found more than a week ago, but haven’t gotten around to posting until now (cleaning out my queue before going away for a few days).

Buried in an article about yet another Somali Ethnic Community Based Organization (mini-ACORNS) forming in Maine, we learn that Somali community organizers are pushing for the right to vote for non-citizens.

By the way, the reason these Somali ECBO’s* keep popping up is that Somalis have brought their clan conflicts to American and they can’t get along with each other.  You can see by the tone of the critics of the latest political organizing group that is pretending to be a place for the youth to learn English and keep out of trouble.

From Maine Public Broadcasting Network:

According to the state, Portland’s Somali population now stands at around 5,000. Over the last decade a handful of grassroots groups have cropped up to support that community. But a new group IS aspiring to overcome funding and political challenges to be the largest and most comprehensive of them all, and serve as the voice for the Somali community in its adopted city.

“The most important goal we have is to unify the community,”> said Mahmoud Hassan.

He is helping to lead the brand-new Somali Community Resource Center as vice-chairman of the board. The plan is to hold English and citizenship classes in a space newly-leased on Forest Avenue, to mentor troubled youth, and help people apply for jobs. But leaders also want to use the center to encourage more political participation, to use it as a place.

“Where you can get the word out in terms of what’s happening around us, what they can do to effect the political process, not only in the local level but also statewide and federal level,” Hassan said.

It seems so incredible to me to learn recently that here in Maryland, in Takoma Park the center of the socialist state of Maryland, non-citizens can vote in local elections.  Looks like someone is now teaching Somalis to go for that same idea in Portland.

The past year has seen a spike in political engagement by Portland’s Somali community. Somalis were on the forefront of a campaign to allow non-citizens to vote in city elections. Mohammed Dini, one of the leaders of that campaign, also ran for a state representative seat.

TB in Lewiston

Possibly related story in Lewiston, ME—a high school student has an active case of TB and now there will be a special meeting of parents and students who have had contact with him.  No word on the nationality of the student.

* Learn more about ECBOs which often get taxpayer funding and are community organizing outfits like ACORN but for immigrants—they teach their people how to get taxpayer-funded goodies and then get them engaged in Democrat Party politics in our category on ECBOs here.

Burundian refugee boy drowns in the Mississippi River

Second such drowning in two years in Rock Island, IL.  In the earlier case the city and school district and others(?) are being sued.  Hat tip:  a reader.

From the Quad-City Times:

A 12-year-old Rock Island boy who was swimming with friends drowned in the Mississippi River on Monday afternoon near Rock Island’s Sunset Marina.

[…..]

Josh Ngao of Fishers of Men Ministries in Davenport said the boy’s family, which includes four sisters, are immigrants from Burundi. He said they immigrated to Chicago four years ago before coming to the Quad-Cities two years ago. He said they live in Century Woods Apartments in Rock Island. He also declined to give the boy’s name until authorities released it.

Ngao, who translates for many of local African immigrants, said the boy was swimming with six other boys when he became caught in the current and was swept away. He said many in the local African community are used to swimming safely in the rivers and lakes of Africa and don’t realize the dangers of the Mississippi River.

“There should be an awareness for the families that come from other countries,” he said.

The boy’s death affected several hundred in the local African immigrant community, who gathered Monday night to pray, Ngao said.  [The Quad-Cities area of Illinois and Iowa is a huge resettlement site for the US State Department and its contractors—ed].

Who will be sued this time?  Whoever didn’t teach the Africans about the dangerous Mississippi River?

The boy is now the second African immigrant to drown in Rock Island in the past two years. On May 28, 2009, 6-year-old Grace Vah, a native of Liberia in West Africa, drowned during a school field trip to the Whitewater Junction swimming facility in Rock Island.

Both the boy and Vah were students from Frances Willard and residents of Century Woods.

In May, Vah’s family filed a lawsuit against the city, the Rock Island-Milan School District and other parties.

Yale professor defends lying asylum-seeking maid in DSK case

…..you gotta give her a break for lying because rich people and the evil US mining companies exploit her country.  Oh brother!   This is what we are promoting at Yale these days?  Typical Leftwing defense….

Oh, and no mention here that DSK is a rich Far Left politician who has been all for bringing diversity to France (for cheap labor).

In defense of the lawbreaking hooker maid who only wants a better life in America, read ‘Before you judge, stand in her shoes’ in the NYT (hat tip: a friend from TN):

People fleeing state-sponsored violence and extreme poverty will do anything to leave. I receive requests every few weeks to write expert-witness affidavits for West African asylum claimants. As a personal matter of conscience, I will not write in support of an applicant whose testimony I believe contains inconsistencies. [that’s big of you!]

Yet asylum claimants are often asked to perform an impossible task. They must prove they have been subject to the most crushing forms of oppression and violence — for this, bodies bearing the scars of past torture are a boon — while demonstrating their potential to become hard-working and well-adjusted citizens.

This is where the lies and embellishments creep into some asylum seekers’ narratives. Immigrants share tips and hunches about ways to outwit the system, even as immigration judges try to discover the claimants’ latest ruses. But I can say from experience that for every undeserving claimant who receives asylum, several deserving ones are turned down. So few Africans gain access to green cards through legal channels that the United States government grants about 25,000 spots annually to Africans selected at random through the diversity visa lottery.

And, he even has the audacity to bring in that thoroughly insane and corrupt “diversity visa lottery” as if was a good thing!

Read it all!   And, thank the good professor for confirming that the immigrants share tips on how to scam the system.

Come to think of it, readers, did any of you know that Yale professors were writing letters in support of asylum seekers? Maybe Mr. Yale professor wrote an expert-witness affidavit for this hooker/maid?  By all accounts she was a fabulous liar and maybe she conned him too!

Comment worth noting: Let’s have the trial (televised!) from Kentucky!

Reader Gary posted this comment on my earlier post today on the issue of where the Iraqi refugee terror trial should be held—Gary, like me! thinks it should be right here, not behind closed doors at Guantanamo Bay!

I totally agree that the trial should be held in Kentucky, in full view of America, and the daily fringe revelations about the insanity of the refugee and asylum seeker scam that is being dumped on our country through the machinations of George Soros, the State Department and the United Nations should be shown on every flat screen in this country. These Iraqis should be tried and, if guilty, convicted and sentenced to many years in prison. Not deported to Iraq and left free to stab us in the back again.

This is our damn country, American Citizens first, and those legally here second. Their rights should be preserved and upheld. When the legal immigration package, including refugee and asylum seekers, gets so cumbersome that it is impossible to control and safety concerns are thrown out the window because we simply don’t have the enforcement infrastructure to cope with the criminal elements trying to dupe and defraud us then it is time to declare a moratorium and take a long hard look at what we are doing to the USA.

We provide several hundred billion dollars annually to the Legal/Illegal Immigration Industry, (approximately one trillion dollars every two years), and cannot afford to continue to ignore down and out Americans whose basic needs go begging while we give special treatment to those who do not belong here). It is not inconsistent with compassion for the world to provide for one’s own family first, so as to be in financial position to consider helping others. The USA has given more to the world than all other countries combined, and our immigration policy accepts more immigrants than all other countries. But we cannot continue to ignore our own people.

The Somali situation is a perfect example of immigration failure, and we have for some reason allowed more than 100,000 into our country from this lawless, violent, backward country that is dominated by one of the most cruel and fraud prone Muslim “societies” in the world. And that “society” has major control over the input necessary to pinpoint “qualified” refugees and asylum seekers.

I work with law enforcement agencies, including the US Border Patrol, in the Rio Grande Valley area of the Texas/Mexican border. The porous southern border is being crossed daily by many, many illegals from Somalia, Iraq, India, Sri Lanka, Africa and more than 75 countries from around the globe. Much of the invasion is encouraged and financed by ethnic groups already legally and illegally in the United States, and the feeble attempts by the Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security offer scant protection for American citizens.

We could have all of America riveted to their TV’s as they were with the Casey Anthony trial that just concluded!
