More Muslim food stamp fraudsters get light sentences

The first case I have today is from Reno, Nevada where a 30-year-old “college student” was busted for both food stamp fraud and for selling bath salts to infidels (well, the story didn’t use that word of course).   His name is Asowadur Khan (a common name in food stamp fraud circles).  The convenience store con-man in Hagerstown, Maryland who did time for similar food stamp trafficking fraud (and is back running his store now) and whose case in 2008 got me started on this hobby is Mohammad Khan.

By the way, I don’t know why it was necessary to identify the Reno Khan as a college student, other than perhaps he is here on a student visa (another scam for another day and another blog).

For new readers:   Following immigrant food stamp scams is a side interest of mine—a hobby!  I’m still looking for an enterprising blogger wannabe to take this subject on full time!   To learn more, just type ‘food stamp fraud’ into our search function.

From RGC.com:

A local college student has surrendered to federal authorities to begin serving a six-month prison term related to selling illegal bath salts out of his family’s Reno liquor store and engaging in food stamp fraud at the business.

Nevada U.S. Chief District Court Judge Robert C. Jones sentenced Asowadur Khan, 30, in October. Jones ordered Khan to pay $120,000 in restitution for the money he scammed from the government in the food stamp fraud between 2009 and 2011.  [$120,000 is chump change in food stamp fraud circles, but I guess its the combo of drug sales and ripping off the taxpayer that got him nailed—ed]

Khan was arrested in February during an undercover investigation by Drug Enforcement Administration investigators at Nahar Food and Discount Liquor, 600 South Virginia St. Khan owned the store with family members. [Ever wonder why so many small grocery stores/convenience stores are run by immigrants—they know the racket and they get into the US on “investor” visas—ed]

Sentenced to six months, then probation, community service, but no deportation:

During the DEA investigation, authorities learned that Khan had been using customers’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s Electronic Benefit Transfer debit cards to sell items with little or no SNAP eligible merchandise. He then used the debit cards to credit a bank account used by his family’s store to steal $120,000 from the government, the guilty plea said.

Following his prison release, Jones ordered that Khan be on supervised probation for one year and follow several conditions, such as completing 40 hours of community service and being restricted from working or having any association with a business authorized to accept food stamps.

Khan had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized use of food stamps, a felony.

Court records show that Khan is a college student at University of Nevada, Reno and is ordered to pay $300 a month in child support for his infant.

What do you want to bet that the mother of his child is on food stamps?

Here is my second case of the day!

This is an update of a story from Waukegan, IL we posted in 2011 where Khaled and Fatima Saleh were caught red-handed with hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars in a suitcase.

Here is a bit of the arrest storyFatima made a run for it!

Agents executed a search warrant at Sunset Market on April 26. After the search, Fatima Saleh went to her apartment and agents observed her leaving a short time later with a suitcase and her mother, the release said.

Agents found more than $350,000 cash and more than 800 coupon vouchers for the WIC supplemental food program in the suitcase, the release said. Agents later found another $25,000 in cash in the apartment.

It is now known that the Saleh’s ripped off the US government to the tune of $850,000 in under two years and prosecutors want a whopping 2 and a half year prison sentence.  This update story makes no mention of Fatima’s attempt to make a run for it!

CHICAGO (CBS) – The owners of a Waukegan grocery store have admitted to stealing nearly $850,000 from the federal food stamp program.

Next up, sentencing for Khaled Saleh and his wife, Fatima, who ran the Sunset Food Market, 1501 Sunset Ave.

Federal prosecutors are pushing for 2.5 years in prison. [Wow!  long sentence!  Not!—ed]

On thousands of occasions, the couple illegally provided cash to customers who made fake purchases on their LINK food stamp cards.

The store owners typically split every dollar 50-50 with the customers — and kept the rest as profit, prosecutors said.  [For new readers this is the basic scam, there are various other splits from time to time, but 50-50 is the standard practice–ed]

Of course, no mention of deportation in this story either.

LOL!  This business is Obama’s backdoor “redistribution of your wealth” taken to a whole new level.

Endnote:  If someone decides to take on immigrant food stamp scamming as a project, consider correlating the scammers’ stores with the neighborhoods in which refugees are resettled or to which immigrants are generally flocking.  I noticed that in Hagerstown, Khan arrived at about the same time as refugees (big users of food stamps) began arriving.

Columbus, OH: Somalis gone wild!

I joked as I left town last week that you would get a break from news about “refugees gone wild,”  but golly I didn’t think they would be making news and going wild the very next day!

Thanks to lots of readers who sent me the story from Columbus, OH (the city probably second only to Minneapolis, MN for the title of Little Mogadishu, USA) about Somalis by the thousands attempting to get subsidized housing available for 200 and getting so out of control that the police had to use mace to break up the melee.

But, you know what is more surprising as I read comments to articles and blog postings (like these at Gateway Pundit) about the case—Americans ( those who don’t read RRW) haven’t the foggiest idea how we came to have hundreds of thousands of Somalis living in the US.

The mainstream media just can’t bring itself to critically examine the Refugee Resettlement Program of the US State Department, so please tell your friends and family to stop in occasionally at RRW.

And then you must—-

Read Sam Solomon and E. AL Maqdisi’s, little book entitled, “Modern Day Trojan Horse—the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration.”   (LOL!  I’m going to nag you every day to read the book I read while internet-deprived over the weekend.)

Here is the Columbus Dispatch.  Note that for most of the story the reader doesn’t know that those being “unruly” were Somalis.  But, here is a news clip of the disturbance’s aftermath that clearly shows who was involved.

Columbus police used pepper spray to control and disperse a larger-than-expected crowd of people who had gathered at a Northeast Side church yesterday to sign up for a subsidized-housing waiting list.

Authorities said the crowd that gathered at Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Rd., numbered more than 1,000 and consisted mostly of local Somalis.  [2000 according the the housing office.–ed]

They were there because a nearby apartment complex, the Heritage, was holding an event at the church from 8 a.m. until noon to take names for a list for two-bedroom apartments.

Neighbors of the church started calling police about 6:30 a.m. to complain about loud music, blaring car horns and people parking in private driveways, according to police call logs. Some in the crowd started arguing with neighborhood residents, according to subsequent calls to police.

Eventually, someone from Heritage arrived to set up for the event, and police records indicate that the crowd then rushed the doors. That’s when police officers used chemicals to control the crowd. The event was canceled.

Police said an ambulance was brought in to treat those who had been sprayed. No one was arrested, and it appeared that no one was seriously injured.

Get this!  They would have respected Somali “community” leaders, but not the Columbus police?

Hassan Omar, the leader of the Somali Community Association of Ohio*, said many Somalis already live at Heritage. Columbus is home to the second-largest Somali community in the United States, and housing is a real problem for them, Omar said. Families are large, and many crowd into too-small apartments. Anytime word of a vacancy spreads, people want in, he said.

“Everyone wanted to be in the front of the line.”

Omar said his organization didn’t know about the event, but if he had been there, he could have helped.“If we had been there, the people would have respected us,” he said.

It was foolish of us to never have created a whole separate category for Somalis here at RRW because I bet we’ve written at least 400-500 posts on just Somalis.   New readers might want to search RRW for ‘Somalis Columbus,’ and definitely check out one of  our most read posts about the number of Somalis we have admitted to the US over the last three-decades.

And, don’t forget Somalis in Columbus want government stuff from Obama, here.

* Check out the ‘Ethnic Community-based organization (ECBO)’ Somali Community Association of Ohio‘s list of “services” that they want from taxpayers.  And, are you ready for a really good laugh?  Have a look at the most recent Form 990 for Mr. Omar’s organization.  They had an income stream of $217,000 for 2010 and you (taxpayer!) gave the organization $212,000 in government grants!   What a racket!    We pay them to run an organization and they use the organization to  lobby for more taxpayer-funded goodies!

What a bunch of suckers we are (read Solomon’s book!).

Washington is starting to get it: terrorists can get into US through refugee program

Editors note:   I’m going away for a few days and won’t be able to post, so LOL! you’ll get a little break from the bleak news about refugees gone wild.  If you have a story idea send me an e-mail and put ‘news tip’ in the subject line so I’ll see it as soon as I get back.

Now, here is some encouraging (well, sort of)  news from Judicial Watch in Washington, DC that maybe, just maybe! cases like the Iraqi refugee bomber in Arizona or the Somali jihadist in San Antonio, might actually be breaking through the political correctness shield that surrounds the three-decade old refugee resettlement program of the US State Department.

Here is Judicial Watch reporting on a Congressional hearing this week (emphasis mine)

Islamic terrorists—including two al Qaeda affiliates indicted last year in Kentucky—have entered the United States legally through a resettlement program that helps tens of thousands of “the world’s most vulnerable refugees” start a new life in America each year.

JW then goes into a discussion of how the program works.  For more on the Kentucky Iraqi terrorists which we have discussed ad nauseam here at RRW (no time for links, just type ‘Kentucky Iraqis’ into our search function.)

Now to the Congressional hearing:

In fiscal year 2011 Uncle Sam generously offered 56,424 persecuted foreigners refuge and in fiscal year 2012 the number increased to 58,236, according Barbara Strack, the Refugee Affairs Division Chief at USCIS. This week Strack testified at a congressional hearing, “Terrorist Exploitation of Refugee Programs,” that addressed the serious security vulnerabilities in her division. She told the House Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “has been working closely with interagency partners to improve, refine, and streamline the security vetting regime for refugee applicants and for other immigration categories.”

Last May two Iraqi nationals who were given refugee status under USRAP were arrested and federally indicted for plotting to send weapons and money to al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) as well as conspiracy to kill U.S. national abroad. The men, Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, lived in Kentucky and have pleaded guilty to the charges, which are outlined in this FBI document. They are scheduled to be sentenced early next year.

At this week’s hearing, the congressman who chairs the counterterrorism and intelligence committee revealed that the Kentucky case is not a fluke and that the “threat posed by refugees with ties to al Qaeda is much broader than was previously believed.” He reiterated the testimony of FBI Director Robert Mueller before a House Intelligence Committee last year, in which the FBI chief admitted ongoing concerns about individuals who may have been resettled here in the United States that have some association with al Qaeda in Iraq.

USRAP, which has helped relocate millions of refugees over the decades, has come under fire in recent years because it’s gotten too big and security measures are lax. A report released last year by a nonprofit that researches immigration matters says this is because the U.S. has lost control of the program, instead surrendering to U.N. policies to determine who’s admitted and because meaningful background checks are difficult to obtain for refugees admitted from countries without reliable government records.

As a result the program is a bloated disaster, admitting nearly three times the number of refugees as the rest of the developed world combined, the probe found. Additionally, the investigation found that “common criminals, war criminals, international fugitives, and terrorists have all used the USRAP and its related asylum provisions for entry into the United States.” Here is another interesting tidbit: “Bribery of U.N. officials is commonly reported among those attempting to secure refugee admission to the United States.”

Amazingly we have just had two cases in the last week to support the report’s claims.

Be sure to read Rep. Patrick Meehan’s (R-PA) testimony to the committee, here.

More shocking news about Arizona Iraqi refugee bomber

Patrick Poole, who first broke the story we reported (here) from PJ Media has learned more information about the Iraqi refugee who allegedly planted explosives and detonated them at the Social Security Administration office in Casa Grande, Arizona.

The latest news from Poole at PJ Media is entitled:  Arizona Bomber had citizenship rejected by Homeland Security for ‘terrorism-related activity’:

Back on Sunday I broke the news here at PJ Media of the arrest of Abdullatif Aldosary in connection with the bombing of a Social Security Administration office in Casa Grande, Arizona, last Friday morning. I noted that while the bombing and Aldosary’s arrest had received local news coverage, there was a virtual blackout by the national media on the Iraqi refugee’s identity.

Yesterday I reported on details provided to the federal court on Monday during Aldosary’s initial court hearing, which included information on what was found when the FBI conducted a search of his Coolidge, Arizona, home last Friday night. Among the items recovered was a bomb-making manual that had been hidden behind a photograph on the wall. Also discovered were an AK-47 and a 9mm Ruger handgun, along with more than a thousand rounds of ammunition. Kerry Picket at the Washington Times also reported that they recovered several gallons of chemicals typically used in bomb making.

When authorities checked Aldosary’s bank statements, they found he had more than $20,000 despite the fact that he was a convicted felon, only worked as a day laborer, and had no visible means of supporting himself sufficient to warrant having that kind of balance.

But a bombshell report came out today based on information obtained by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who had received a request from Aldosary in November 2011 for assistance in obtaining a “green card.”

According to today’s news report, the Department of Homeland Security responded to Gosar’s request on behalf of Aldosary last year by saying that he was ineligible for a change in status because of “terrorism-related grounds of inadmissibility”

For more on the stunning revelation, please visit Patrick Poole at PJ Media where he has lots more info. and to follow the links which I didn’t post in here because I’m in a huge hurry this morning!

Aldosary had bomb-making material!  He was a known potential terrorist…….

It is too amazing for words, his case was described in an earlier Poole post to be “too sensitive,”  yet I can’t help but contrast our reaction to this known Muslim “terrorist” being allowed to walk free and stay in the US with what happened in a tiny town where I live last week—a massive police/FBI Swat operation for a conservative rightwing guy who had a gun violation.

San Antonio: Somali suspected terrorist pleads guilty

I know, I know, we’ve heard this before, but read this story.  It is a great example of what happens as “asylum seekers” lie their way into the US.

And, this story is instructive for all of you who think only Hispanics are coming across our southern border!

Asylees vs. refugees:

Just a reminder, the UN and the State Department select supposedly persecuted “refugees” and bring them here; “asylum seekers” arrive at our border and ask for asylum because they say they are persecuted in their home country.  These programs are two sides of the same coin with the asylum side growing more rapidly then the refugee side.

The good news in this case is that we caught this guy and now we get to pay for his imprisonment, but what about wifey?

From My San Antonio (hat tip: Gary)

A Somali man with suspected terrorism ties pleaded guilty Wednesday to lying to an immigration judge in a failed bid to get asylum, and to FBI agents investigating his links to terrorist groups.

Abdullah Omar Fidse surprised prosecutors Wednesday when his lawyer announced that he wanted to plead guilty to two charges of making false statements.

His hearing before Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery was initially meant to take up a motion to dismiss an indictment that could have left him facing more than 30 years in prison. With his guilty plea, he now faces up to 10 years.

Liar! Liar!  By the way, see my post here about the asylum racket.  I am convinced these Somalis and others who know to ask for asylum when caught coming across the border have already gotten some “guidance” from US immigration lawyers.  And, interestingly here is another story about Somali asylum fraud from San Antonio in March 2011.

Back to the latest news:

Fidse and Deka Abdalla Sheikh were detained at the Hidalgo port of entry in January 2008. Neither had identification, but both claimed persecution in their home country and sought asylum. Sheikh eventually got it, was granted temporary permanent residence and has been living in Madison, Wis.  [So, does the lying Wisconsin wifey get to walk free and be supported by the US taxpayer?—ed]

Fidse was held as federal authorities investigated him, and he remains jailed after the couple was indicted in May 2011.

At a hearing in September, Sheikh pleaded guilty to conspiracy to make false statements, admitting Fidse “coached” her on how to respond to immigration officials’ questions during his immigration court hearings.

The two rehearsed their responses, which they knew to be false, via phone. They even created hand signals to secretly communicate with each other during court testimony.

Following their rehearsed lines, the defendants each told authorities Fidse fled Mogadishu, Somalia in 2008 after his father was killed by Islamist militants and that they had first met in Ethiopia.

But the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force says Fidse’s father was not killed by al-Qaida or any of its Somali franchises and that Fidse and Sheikh, who had known each other since childhood, eventually married and lived together for three years.

Fidse was living in Nairobi, Kenya*, not Somalia, at the time he claimed his father was killed, officials said. And, Fidse’s father died of natural causes.

“Gather your horses and weapons and terrorize the infidels!”  That means you—“welcoming” Americans.  You are infidels too!

At a hearing last year, FBI special agent Mark Wagoner testified Fidse was secretly recorded saying he had been a cook for Osama bin Laden, and that he was “in tears” after a U.S. airstrike in Somalia in 2008 killed Aden Ayro, head of the extreme Islamic group al-Shabaab.

Fidse “spoke about jihad, ” Wagoner said. “He also recited the Koran … phrases like ‘Gather your horses and weapons and terrorize the infidels.’”

For new readers, for every suspected Somali terrorist caught, know that we are resettling thousands of Somalis here every year.  See this old post from 2008 (still one of the most visited posts everyday at RRW) about the numbers of Somalis legally being invited to live in your city.   Check out the stats for your cities here at WRAPS—seems the data is back!

We have hundreds of posts at RRW on Somali problems throughout the US.  Use our search function to find one (or LOL! more) near you!  We can always count on Somali news to liven our pages.

*Addendum:  We do not normally give asylum to people from Kenya unless they happen to be the uncle of the President of the US!
