Recently we have praised two first world countries where governments are trying to save themselves from migrant tides rising around the world—Australia and Israel. I should have added Bulgaria to the short list of countries with a will to survive.
Bulgaria has embarked on a “Containment Plan” to reduce the number of asylum seekers in the country, Human Rights Watch said in a report released Tuesday.
According to the 76-page report, called “Containment Plan: Bulgaria’s Pushbacks and Detention of Syrian and other Asylum Seekers and Migrants,” the plan has been carried out in part by summarily pushing back Syrians, Afghans, and others as they irregularly cross the border from Turkey. [Ticks me off! No one ever criticizes Muslim Turkey for allowing the crossings of mostly Muslims into Bulgaria!—ed]
The document speaks of how in recent months Bulgarian border police have summarily returned people, who appear to be asylum seekers, to Turkey without proper procedures and with no opportunity to lodge asylum claims. Bulgaria should end summary expulsions at the Turkish border, stop the excessive use of force by border guards, and improve the treatment of detainees and conditions of detention in police stations and migrant detention centers, the report said.
Bulgaria has not been a host country for significant numbers of refugees on average registering about 1,000 asylum seekers per year in the past decade. The situation changed in 2013 when more than 11,000 people, over half of them fleeing Syria’s deadly repression and war, lodged asylum applications. Despite ample early warning signs, Bulgaria was unprepared for the increase, Human Rights Watch claimed citing a February 5, 2014 report by the Interior Ministry saying that “Until mid-2013 Bulgaria was completely unprepared for the forecasted refugee flow.”
Keep in mind that Bulgaria is not only being overrun with Syrians, Africans ‘make their way’ all the way to Bulgaria— some going through Turkey as well.
We have followed the plight of tiny Bulgaria for some time now, click here for more. And, for our ‘invasion of Europe’ series, go here.
Limbaugh says Obama needs them, of course, for fresh blood as Democrat voters, but Limbaugh also said, and I wish I had thought of it, if these dreamers are so important to our future why are we luring them from their poor homelands mostly in Mexico and Central America?
Hey Obama, aren’t you in fact stealing their best people and robbing those countries of their futures?
Here is a postat National Review Online about Obama’s talk to Democrat donors, a talk that Limbaugh referred to:
President Obama reminded Democratic donors that “our future rests” on the success of people brought to the United States illegally as children, who would qualify for citizenship if Congress had passed the DREAM Act.

Obama made the comments at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser in Massachusetts, in reference to students at Worcester Tech.

“We need it badly from a purely — purely economic point of view,” Biden said Tuesday, per The Hill. It’s an argument that corporations tend to support, but the White House push comes as Congress is still coming to terms with the shock of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R., Va.) losing his primary to Dave Brat, a political novice supported by local Tea Party activists who faulted Cantor for being out of touch with the district.
Radio talk show host Laura Ingraham promises to make sure the Republican nominee for President in 2016 is not Jeb Bush!
Cantor’s support for DREAM Act-style legislation, which he announced a few months after the 2012 election, inspired conservative radio host Laura Ingraham to rally grassroots voters against him.
“Now, Ingraham is setting her sights on 2016: In particular, she wants to ensure that the Republican nominee is not cut from Cantor’s cloth,” National Review Online’s Eliana Johnson reported. “Brat’s victory, she says, is a step in the right direction: ‘Everybody that’s hoping and praying for a Jeb Bush run, they should spend a lot of time focusing on what just happened in Virginia.’”
We learned the other day that German public opinion is resoundingly against more Muslim immigration and I doubt that most of the newcomers are Christians.
Germany has doubled the number of refugees from Syria it will accept to 20,000, the Interior Ministry has announced. “Germany stands by its humanitarian responsibility,” Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said. “It is therefore right that together we help even more.” Federal and state interior ministries agreed on the increase at their spring meeting in Bonn on June 12.
So what is up with the US? Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining but as of May 31 we had resettled (through the Refugee Admissions program) only 42 Syrians. Compare that to the number of Iraqis (11,660), Burmese (9,500) and Somalis (5,015) we have taken already this year! Someone somewhere has security concerns about the Syrians, but heck we took all those Iraqis and Somalis!
***Update*** This piecesays Germany has already taken 40,000 Syrians and it’s a plea to take even more!
Editors note: First, to those readers who have sent me your State Department testimony, I promise to get more posted, but between life on the farm and the pressing issue involving the illegal alien “children,” I am swamped!
I’m also annoyed at the mainstream media that seems incapable of digging more deeply into the invasion crisis on the border and acting like the “children” just showed up one day. This is an organized invasion that I firmly believe is driven directly from a treasonous White House.
And, whether they actually helped spread the word to Central Americans to get here NOW or not, the federal refugee contractorswill soon be rolling in dough (your dough) to care for the invaders. (See my earlier post this morning, criminals or refugees?).
Last June I attended a meeting in Lancaster PA where ORR officials announced there would be a dramatic increase in “unaccompanied children” this year—how did they know that a year ago?
Update June 16th: Questions arise about whether the alien kids are being treated better than American kids in foster care, here.
This (below) is directly from the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement description of the “Unaccompanied Alien Children” program. Incidentally it used to be referred to as “Unaccompanied minors” but the word “children” probably sounded more warm and fuzzy to them and was added at some point!
This is where your $2 billion will go (if passed by Congress):
Following the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) mission, which is founded on the belief that new arriving populations have inherent capabilities when given opportunities, ORR/ Division of Children Services/Unaccompanied Alien Children program provides unaccompanied alien children (UAC) with a safe and appropriate environment as well as client-focused highest quality of care to maximize the UAC’s opportunities for success both while in care, and upon discharge from the program to sponsors in the U.S. or return to home country, to assist them in becoming integrated members of our global society.
Overview:
On March 1, 2003, the Homeland Security Act of 2002, Section 462, transferred responsibilities for the care and placement of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) from the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service to the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Since then, ORR has cared for more than 92,000 UAC, incorporating child welfare values as well as the principles and provisions established by the Flores Agreement in 1997, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 and its reauthorization acts, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) of 2005 and 2008.
Unaccompanied alien children (UAC) apprehended by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) immigration officials, are transferred to the care and custody of ORR. ORR makes and implements placement decisions in the best interests of the UAC to ensure placement in the least restrictive setting possible while in federal custody. ORR takes into consideration the unique nature of each UAC’s situation and incorporates child welfare principles when making placement, clinical, case management, and release decisions that are in the best interest of the child. View the infographic about the UAC process.
Facts about UAC
Their youth, their separation from a protective environment or person, and the hazardous journey they embark make UAC especially vulnerable to becoming victims of human trafficking, exploitation, and abuse. UAC have multiple, inter-related reasons for undertaking the difficult journey of traveling to the United States. UAC leave their home countries to rejoin family already in the United States, to escape abusive family relationships in their home country, or to find work to support their families in the home country.
General Statistics about UAC
*An unaccompanied alien child is a child who has no lawful immigration status in the United States; has not attained 18 years of age; and, with respect to whom, there is no parent or legal guardian in the United States, or no parent or legal guardian in the United States available to provide care and physical custody.
See 6 U.S.C. § 279(g)(2)
Reasons why these minors have come to the United States include, but are not limited to, the following:
*To escape violence, abuse or persecution in their home countries
*To find family members already residing in the United States
*To seek work to support themselves; their family, or their own children
*Were brought into the United States by human trafficking rings
The majority of UAC are cared for through a network of state licensed ORR-funded care providers, most of which are located close to areas where immigration officials apprehend large numbers of aliens. These care provider facilities are state licensed and must meet ORR requirements to ensure a high level of quality of care. They provide a continuum of care for children, including foster care, group homes, shelter, staff secure, secure, and residential treatment centers. The care providers operate under cooperative agreements and contracts, and provide children with classroom education, health care, socialization/recreation, vocational training, mental health services, family reunification, access to legal services, and case management.
Addendum: if you think this is a problem for the border states only, wait for it! HHS is scouting your town now for suitable buildings in which to house the kids!
Ever since we started writing this blog in 2007, the open borders agitators (including the refugee contractors) and immigration lawyers have been attempting to expand the definition of “refugee” for the purpose of bringing in anyone in the world who is fleeing crime (or says they are fleeing crime).
Fleeing one’s home country because the country is overrun with gangs and drug dealers, and where the government there is unable to protect its citizens from crime generally, does not make one a “refugee.” And think about it, wouldn’t that make half the world eligible for asylum in America? Or, is that what Obama wants?
…. is a person who is outside their home country because they have suffered (or feared) persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or because they are a member of a persecuted ‘social group’ or because they are fleeing a war.
Either the “refugee” has been chosen by the UN and admitted to the US by the US State Department and flown here, or in the case of asylum seekers who got here on their own (crossed a border illegally or overstayed a visa), they must first be judged to be legitimately escaping persecution before they are declared a refugee.
The big push to find the kids lawyers is to attempt to prove that they are legitimate asylum seekers and for the US to ultimately grant them asylum which would make them refugees and thereby make them eligible for all of the taxpayer “services” available to any American citizen. See our fact sheet!
An “economic migrant” is an alien who is seeking a better life—he or she wants a job or welfare. They are also NOT refugees.
The recent “unaccompanied minor” border invaders may be “economic migrants,” but they definitely are illegal aliensand therefore criminals.
Here is Patrik Jonsson reporting at the Christian Science Monitor (hat tip: Joanne).
I’ve communicated with Jonsson. He has exposed some secrecy in the “refugee” program before so I would urge him to help figure out who are the instigators of this invasion, it isn’t the kids (who are being used, in my opinion, by those who are attempting to bring on the revolution)!
Who are those shadowy players? Or is it the White House itself?
The growing crush of vulnerable migrant children crossing the Rio Grande and entering the US through south Texas has put urgency to a vexing question for the US immigration system:
Are children fleeing Central American violence refugees who need asylum or illegal gold-diggers who need to go home?
The rush on the border has created what the White House and many others have called a humanitarian crisis. But it has also pushed Washington into finger-pointing mode, with politicians and commentators trying to pin down why children, often guided by “coyote” smugglers, are traveling hundreds of miles across Mexico into the US.
BTW, I heard a scary prediction yesterday—-that after the 2014 election, Obama plans to pardon all illegal aliens in the US. Is that what the “kids” know?
With all of this horrific news about the invasion of America by mostly teenaged boys from Central America, I see a bright side!
Those who have brought this nightmare (including the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services***) to the front pages have succeeded in making the word “refugee” a very dirty word in homes across America after years and years of building up “refugees” as wonderful, deserving, industrious and grateful NEW AMERICANS. Keep it up!
Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to say they aren’t refugees!

***Why do I keep naming those two refugee contractors (of the nine), because they are two that have had contracts from the ORR to care for the “kids.” But, I expect all of the contractors to be scrambling for the $$$$$ and a piece of the action now that more of your tax dollars (billions in fact!) may soon be flowing their way.
As a matter of fact, the contractors all lobbied for the ‘gang of eight’s’ so-called “comprehensive immigration reform” bill because it contained provisions for them to gain more “clients” and more federal grant and contract money. Since that hasn’t gone through, and likely won’t anytime soon, this windfall—to care for the kids—is the next best thing for them!
