This is insane! Taxpayers pay rent for Somalis who feel the need to visit Somalia (for months!)

You cannot make this up! Virtually all Somalis who live in the US came here (we are told) as poor refugees (there are going on 200,000 of them). So how persecuted and fearful of returning home are they if many travel back and forth to Africa and the taxpayers of Minneapolis cover most of their rent while they are gone!
By the way, Somalis are not the only (fake) persecuted and impoverished ‘refugees’ who go ‘home’ for visits from time to time.
This is the story at the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Public housing residents in Minneapolis will no longer need to pay their normal monthly rent when travel abroad erases their income, a change particularly sought by East African immigrants.

The board of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority approved this week reverting to its previous policy of collecting only minimal rent during extended absences. The change takes effect once approved by federal housing officials, which is expected by year’s end.

Minnesota Governor Dayton with Warsame. Remember Dayton is the MN pol who said if you don’t like our Somalis, you can move to another state. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/10/16/mn-governor-dayton-dont-like-immigrants-get-out-of-minnesota/

Abdi Warsame, a City Council member, told the board that the policy in place for the past five years works a particular hardship on elderly East Africans who must save for long periods if they want to visit their homelands. He said that many receive federal Supplemental Security Income, which is halted when the recipient is outside the United States.

Yet the policy required people to keep paying rent, which is income-based. Travelers gone for 30 to 90 days could apply for a hardship, which meant that they paid the minimum $75 monthly rent during their absence, but were required to make up the difference between that and their normal rent over the next year or two.

The change will mean that residents will pay only the $75 minimum per month, assuming they apply for the hardship status. [Hardship status! Hardship status! How many of you have airfare money to fly to Africa?—ed]

From 50 to 75 public housing residents report such absences annually, according to Mary Boler, an agency manager. She said the cost of the change will be less than $50,000. The agency found that the paperwork burden of tracking repayment was higher than anticipated.

“This was brought up to us again and again and again in every building we visited in our ward,” Warsame said. “Everybody was afraid to leave the country.”  [But they weren’t afraid to go home to Somalia the country they supposedly escaped from???—ed]

We are such suckers!
By the way, one reason given for travel is the Hajj (it lasts 4 days not 30-90 days).
Additionally, I wonder is some Somali community activist group getting grants from the feds like the one in Maine.

Comment worth noting: Call Congress daily! (this reader does!)

Editor: This is a comment from a reader ‘Mom for Trump’ who asked me to tell you this daily. So I will!
Years ago I had some experience on ‘The Hill,’ but I will tell you the place has changed over the last two decades! They simply do not want to hear from you (the peons!).  They have made it increasingly difficult for you to get a message to them and even setting foot in the place is like going in to Ft. Knox.

I’m going to say this over and over again for the remainder of the year!
You must call your members, you must see them at townhalls while they are campaigning, you have to picket their local offices and their homes if necessary.  Call them constantly and call their local offices too! And, you have to take an hour out of this weekend and write a decent, thoughtful and informative letter to Senator Jeff Sessions Subcommittee, here.
Congress will return in November and they will be deciding how much money will be spent to bring in over 100,000 refugees in 2017—you have one more shot to save this country by telling them no!

Frankly, I am getting really tired of all the ranting and raving I’m getting from some of you here at RRW. With all the time you are spending reading social media and yammering and yelling, you could actually be putting pressure on the only people that matter right now—on Members of Congress and Senators because they (the Republican majority!) hold the purse strings.  No money=no unvetted refugees for your towns.
And, of course you must be working to elect Donald Trump.  If Hillary is elected we are finished!
Sorry (now I was ranting!), here is the comment from ‘Mom for Trump:’

Ann, could you tell all your readers on a daily basis to call our useless Congress @ 202 224 3121 and have them say DEFUND REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM. I call daily and if enough of us do so, we can make a difference. Would you also tell your readers if interested to join @ActForAmerica and follow @ACTBrigitte. I just joined this group and I’ve learned a lot about terrorism, the Muslim Brotherhood in our country and the Islamization of our country.

Act for America is the only national grassroots organization focused exclusively on immigration (and reforming the Refugee Admissions Program) from Islamic terrorist-producing countries.

Will refugee flood gates open even wider if Hillary elected on November 8th? Yes!

Yes, I believe they will!
Today, October 1, 2016 is the opening day of the last of Obama’s driving efforts to change America by changing its people.
A few weeks ago he presented to Congress his determination to admit 110,000 refugees from around the world over the next 12 months with the largest numbers coming from the Middle East and Muslim-controlled countries of Africa.

But, if Hillary is elected president on November 8th, Obama will look like a piker.

Could Hillary dramatically expand refugee admissions numbers? Yes, she can! Will she? I think so!

No where did Obama ever say he wanted 65,000 Syrians admitted to the US, but Hillary is on record (Face the Nation, September 2015) saying that, and I am guessing that will only be the beginning for her.
After all, she just this week said that the foreign leader she admired most is German Chancellor Angela Merkel.  Merkel!!! who is widely believed to be destroying Germany and has thrown all of Europe in chaos with her ‘welcome’ of any refugee from Africa and the Middle East who can get there!
Remember the other day I wrote about the fact that the number determined by the President at the end of the fiscal year for the following year is a ceiling set by the President in consultation with Congress.
‘Consultation’ is a squishy term as we have seen for the last 35 years and is virtually non-existent (except for a brief chit chat between the Secretary of State and two key committees on the Hill).  Each September, the President sends up his refugee numbers for the upcoming year and for years Congress simply slipped his plan into a drawer somewhere and never even held hearings.  Senator Sessions’ hearing last fall (2015) was the first since 9/11.
The only real power the Congress has is to limit the funding for the federal agencies involved, something I have never seen done!
So, back to Hillary and the power of the Presidency as it relates to this law.
One of Hillary’s long time political allies is John Podesta, Chairman of her 2016 Presidential campaign. Do you know that his organization (an organization Hillary helped create with George Soros) proposed an AIRLIFT in 2009 of 100,000 Iraqis to America which they pushed on the new President Obama? He didn’t bite.
The plan called for Iraqis to be held offshore somewhere until they could be processed in to the US.  More recently Canada’s boy Trudeau airlifted tens of thousands of Syrians to Canada.  If President, could Hillary do this? Yes she can!

Refugee Act’s emergency provision

There is a very clear provision, which I don’t think has been used (the large crush of Vietnamese came before the Refugee Act of 1980 became law), but I think Hillary will use it.  By defeating Donald Trump, she will feel she has a mandate to open our borders. There definitely won’t be a border fence built and I predict she will use every lawful means available to admit as many migrants as she can, including the emergency provisions of the Refugee Act of 1980.
Could she add her 65,000 Syrians to the 110,000 refugees Obama proposed for FY2017, or could she go even higher?  Yes, she could knowing that the Congress, even if Republicans still hold the majority, is weak and will be further demoralized by her win.
Heck her role model, Mama Merkel, admitted over a million in the last year. Not to look ‘unwelcoming’ by comparison, Hillary could easily bump our numbers up to a quarter of a million!  (That would be in addition to the masses of asylum seekers—-phony refugees—now streaming across our southern border.)
See here (Refugee Act of 1980):

Consultation with Congress, big deal! No teeth! And, I expect no fight if Hillary is in the White House!
Will Hillary go there? Yes, I believe she will.
