Boston talk-show host Carr: Life as political refugee is damn sweet!

Thanks to a reader for sending us this piece by radio host Howie Carr published yesterday in the Boston Herald.    Star of the op-ed is Boston Bomber Tsarnaev friend Khairullozhon Matanov.

Khairullozhon Matanov Boston Bomber buddy! http://easton-ma.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/kyrgyzstan-man-charged-with-helping-marathon-bombers-scared-of-prison-lawyer-says

This is a must-read and here is how it begins (emphasis is mine):

Which group of undocumented Democrats is enjoying a softer retirement here in the U.S. — illegal aliens or “political refugees”?

Until recently, I would have said illegals. But then I realized, being a “political refugee,” or an asylum seeker, can be pretty damn sweet too. Why else would the late Auntie Zeituni have bothered to change her status from illegal to refugee?

Now we have more evidence, in the case of Khairullozhon Matanov, pal of the leeching Tsarnaev brothers.

Last Friday, you may recall, Matanov demanded a public defender, because he was “indigent.” They’re all indigent now. When you haven’t paid for a thing since you arrived on these shores with the huddled masses, yearning for everything free, you’re damn sure not going to actually hire a lawyer.

When Obama and Deval are giving these foreign terrorists everything, like Section 8’s and EBT cards and MassHealth etc., etc., why would you ever spend your own money when you could use it to build bombs to blow up the infidels who feed you?

But now we find out that this “Quincy cabbie,” Matanov, between 2010 and 2013 made 114 wire transfers overseas, for a total of more than $71,000.

Springfield, MA: State/city agencies stepping in to help impoverished Somali refugee family

How many more like this family across America?

The family of twelve was recently removed from their roach infested rental property where the electric bill had gone unpaid as well. MassLive File photo / John Suchocki

We recently learned that 63% of Minnesota’s Somalis live below the poverty line and in Oregon the estimate is higher than that (67% ).  I wonder what it is in every state where Somalis have been located?

Come and get it!

Massachusetts (home state of the ‘brains’ behind the refugee program—the now deceased Ted Kennedy) has been a “welcoming” state for refugees, as was the city of Springfield (originally!), so I guess they knew what they were getting in to, but I’m not so sure the taxpayers there were fully aware (until now!).   See Springfield mayor wants moratorium.

From MassLive (emphasis mine):

SPRINGFIELD – A lawyer for the city’s Housing office said Friday that the city remains committed to helping two refugee families that were left homeless two weeks ago when their Union Street apartment was condemned.

The two families, originally from Somalia and consisting of three adults and 12 children, have spent the last two weeks in a Greenfield hotel. Some assistance has been provided to the families by local and state agencies, officials said.

“The city remains committed to assuring that the families are afforded safe and sanitary housing,” said Lisa C. DeSousa, associate city solicitor. “We are looking forward to working with social service agencies that are charged with assisting refugee families in these types of situations.”

[…..]

The school-aged children have been transported daily from the Greenfield hotel to their Springfield schools.

The state Department of Children and Families and state Department of Transitional Assistance are believed to be helping the families.

Maybe it’s time for the cost of saving these impoverished families to fall on the US State Department and the Office of Refugee Resettlement (in Health and Human Services).  Maybe if the cost came out of their federal budget hides, instead of state and local taxpayers’ piggy banks, Congress would begin to pay attention.

I know, I know, it still comes from the taxpayers ultimately, but it’s about sending a message to the one government body that could stop the insanity.

Syrian refugees demand “rights” in Cyprus

Invasion of Europe….

Syrian demonstrators gather to demand Cyprus close detention facilities for Syrians.

They sure aren’t going to endear themselves to the citizens of Cyprus or anywhere else in the European Union if they arrive by the thousands and demand “rights.”

From the Cyprus Mail:

MORE than 200 Syrian refugees marched to the Interior Ministry on Friday, protesting the treatment they receive from the state when it comes to human rights. [They look healthy and well-fed to me!—ed]

The refugees handed over a protest letter to a representative of the Interior Ministry, asking for the release of all Syrian refugees from the Menoyia detention centre and the termination of detention practice when it comes to refugees from Syria.

They also demanded a solution to the problems they are facing in Cyprus, in terms of employment, living conditions, the procedure for evaluating asylum applications and granting international protection status.

Oregon: Somali refugee Christmas tree bomber wants new trial

But even more interesting news is linked here about the fact that Somalis and other African refugees are not doing well in Oregon (are they doing well anywhere?).

From AP:

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Defense attorneys will argue Wednesday morning that a Portland, Oregon, man convicted of terrorism charges should be acquitted or granted a new trial.

Oral arguments will focus on the government’s use of evidence and its reliance on surveillance obtained through extrajudicial means.

The attorneys for Mohamed Mohamud (pictured in a mugshot at left) say prosecutors failed to notify them of information derived under the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act until Mohamud had already been convicted.

That failure, they say, withheld important information from the defense team and violated Mohamud’s constitutional rights.

Prosecutors responded in pre-hearing briefs that they didn’t disclose any new information when they informed Mohamud’s defense team of the surveillance in November.

Somali Community of Oregon

That story links us to an older article about the formation of the Somali American Council of Oregon which was started to “bring the Somali community together.”   In refugee industry lingo the Somali Community of Oregon is an ECBO (Ethnic Community Based Organization) which is eligible to receive your tax dollars to act as a “community organizing” and advocacy group (you know like what Obama did before he started running for elective office, that kind of organizing).

ECBOs stand up for their ethnic people and make sure their people get signed up for whatever they are entitled to.  Usually they register their people to vote as well. And, if their  people get in trouble with the law they go to bat for them (like the Christmas tree bomber).

See our category on ECBOs here.

Now check out this story from 2013 about the rough time the 10,000 plus Somalis of Oregon are having.  Weren’t we told that refugees are self-sufficient at high rates and that we weren’t importing poverty?

Recently we reported that 63% of Somalis in Minnesota live in poverty, and in Oregon it appears to be about the same rate!

The surveillance, arrest and conviction of Mohamed Osman Mohamud for domestic terrorism has created a watershed moment for Oregon’s Somalis. Before the case, the community was scattered, made up of many small groups, each with different regional, tribal and religious traditions.

Now the community, estimated at 10,000 people, is coming together through the Somali American Council of Oregon.

“We want to bring everyone together to build trust and faith in one another,” says Mussé Olol, (pictured) chair of the council.

[…..]

Right now, many Somali-born parents fear their children cannot thrive in America. Their challenges include the unique problems that come with being refugees from a war zone targeted by Islamic extremists. But they also face more familiar barriers of unemployment, poverty, racism, school failure and the school to prison pipeline.

[…..]

In 2010, the Coalition of Communities of Color and Portland State University released a report noting that more than half, 56 percent, of Multnomah County’s African immigrant and refugee children live in poverty.

According to Ann Curry Stevens, the Portland State researcher who authored the report, “That number has deteriorated and today two-thirds, 67 percent, of African children live in poverty.”

Read the whole story at The Skanner, it is very informative.

Minneapolis: More Somali refugees leaving to join jihad (in Syria this time)

It began back in 2008 and we followed the story for years—Somali youths traded the good life in America (generously supplied by your tax dollars) to go join Al-Shabaab in Somalia.   Some died, some came back and were prosecuted, others are still unaccounted for.    Now comes news that more Somali youths, motivated by ideology, are believed to be joining the “rebels” in Syria this time.

From MyFox9  (Hat tip: Deb):

Minneapolis Somali activist, Abdi Bihi: If our people had more jobs and more programs, and didn’t feel like outsiders, this wouldn’t happen! Photo: http://www.ogadentoday.com/news.php?readmore=5932

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) –

The FBI says more Somali travelers have left Minnesota, possibly to fight against the regime of President Bashar Assad in Syria. Investigators believe those who left Minnesota were motivated by radical ideology, not nationalism.

SOURCE: 12 MINNESOTA SOMALIS HAVE LEFT FOR SYRIA

The FBI has not specified how many people are believed to involved, but a leader in the Minnesota Somali community told Fox 9 News a dozen men have left. The FBI confirmed they have “indications” that some recently traveled overseas. Now, they are reaching out to the large Somali population in Minnesota to learn more.

One young man — a 20-year-old Somali college student — left the Twin Cities as recently as last Thursday. He sent a text message to his family from Istanbul, Turkey, to say he was heading to Syria to fight in the holy war.

RECENT SUICIDE BOMBING LINKED TO FLORIDA MAN

The request for tips comes about a week after an American from Florida died in a suicide bombing attack on Syrian government troops in the city of Iblib.

Moner Mohammad Abu-Salha, 22, is believed to be the first U.S. citizen involved in a suicide bombing in the civil war’s three-year history. His family thought he was in Jordan when he died.

It is America’s fault!

Oh, those poor “vulnerable” babies in Minneapolis!

MINNESOTA SOMALI COMMUNITY ‘VULNERABLE’

Since 2007, at least 22 young men have left Minnesota to join al-Shabaab in Somalia. Some have died there, and some were even praised as “Minnesota Martyrs” in an elaborate video released last year.

[….]

Some of the so-called travelers were prosecuted for their role in what the FBI has described as one of the largest efforts to recruit U.S. fighters to a foreign terrorist organization, and community activist Abdi Bihi says his community is particularly vulnerable to such efforts due to a lack of jobs, programs and feeling like outsiders.

Yeh, spend more money on “programs” that will solve the problem!   These ungrateful punks would not be in a position (alive and healthy) to become “fighters” if it weren’t for all the money Americans spent on their upbringing.

Now the next question is, will they be back?

Be sure to read one of our most-read posts over the years—Why so many Somalis in Minnesota—and thank the US State Department, Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief Minnesota for their good works in bringing this mess to Minnesota!
