A quick question: If Iraq is safe enough to give refuge to Syrians….

….why are we still bringing Iraqis to the US?

The New York Times had an article yesterday about the UNHCR warning of dire consequences if the Syrian refugee tide continues to rise.  I’ll be watching for the first sign that Obama wants to help his buds in Turkey by bringing Syrians to the US.  Using the refugee program for other political purposes is one of the worst flaws in the flawed system.

In Turkey, 183,000 registered Syrians live in camps, and an estimated 100,000 unregistered Syrians live in urban areas. Iraq is now home to more than 100,000 Syrians, and Mr. Guterres said 37,000 Syrians had been registered in North Africa.

Holy cow!  We have brought 6,030 Iraqis to the US in the first 4 months of this fiscal year (began Oct.1), here.  I can assure you that most are not Christians!    For readers concerned about the Iraqi Christians, although the State Department knows what percentage of Christians are in this group they do not tell the public, so we can only make assumptions.

And, by the way, the Iraqis arriving here aren’t finding work and are largely on welfare, here.

Food Stamp use by refugees jumped dramatically in first year of Obama Presidency

Your tax dollars!

Sheesh, I just a few minutes ago told you I wouldn’t have time to look at the newly released 2009 Annual Report to Congress on the status of refugees in the US in Obama’s first year, but I couldn’t resist a look at the food stamp usage data.

Ahhhhhh!  70% of refugees in the US were on food stamps in 2009!  That is up from 50% the year before and a jump of 30% from 2004 when only! 40% were on food stamps (p. 109).

95% of Iraqi refugees were using food stamps in 2009 (p. 124), but that is understandable because the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE for Iraqis was 46%!  46%!  (p.115).  And, we are told we need MORE immigrant labor!

Visit the tables in Appendix A to see the numbers of arrivals from various countries to your states.

We resettled 17,180 Iraqis in FY 2009 bringing the grand total of resettled Iraqis to 76,205.   We resettled 88,915 Somalis through 2009.

These annual reports are a treasure-trove of information. You all need to go to this one (unfortunately a snap-shot now nearly 4 years out of date) to check out info. on your state.  If I read it correctly (as I scanned quickly) top states for refugee welfare were California (80% on some form of welfare!) and even states like Pennsylvania and Georgia were awash in needy refugees.

Senator Rand Paul: Did the meatpackers, hungering for cheap captive labor, get to him?

…..or was it Grover Norquist that got to him?

Oh brother, looks like we are having another invasion of the body snatchers moment.  Just when I thought there was someone speaking up for American workers besides NumbersUSA and Rush Limbaugh we learn that Paul has been snatched by big business interests.   (Imagine a conversation) Kentucky big meatpacker to Paul:  Get with the program boy if you want to move up!

Looks like Paul is singing a different tune now that he has Presidential aspirations compared to 2011 when he stood up to one of the leading LEGAL labor importing programs in the US—the Refugee Resettlement Program—when it imported two (now convicted) Iraqi refugee terrorists to work in the Kentucky meatpacking industry.

Samantha Power, White House Iraqi refugee czar, Soros protege’ leaving Obama Administration

Power, also the architect of Obama’s excellent adventure in Libya, was supposed to have led an intergovernmental reform of the Refugee Resettlement Program which never happened unless you consider throwing more money to the contractors a reform!  By the way, she once served as a director of the wealthiest refugee resettlement contractor (funded largely by US taxpayers)—the International Rescue Committee (George Rupp, their head honcho makes a cool $447,432 in salary and benefits which beats Obama’s $400,000 salary!)

Human Rights First cheered her role as Iraqi refugee czar at the White House here in 2009.  But, by 2011 Power was quoted (by Joe Klein) as saying she wanted more exciting work then the “rinkey-dink do-gooder stuff”  of helping beleaguered Christians in Iraq.  So she moved on to working with Obama’s female hawks to oust Gaddafi from Libya (we see how that is working out!).  Well, heck, the move produced a whole new wave of refugees in need of resettlement services from the federal contractors!

Power’s name came up as a possible second-term pick for either UN Ambassador if Susan Rice moved up to the Secretary of State position we all know went to John Kerry.   There had even been talk that Power, a Soros protege’, might be in line to fill her nemesis’ shoes at State.  Remember Power called Hillary a “monster” during the 2008 Presidential primary campaign.

We have a lot of posts on Power, you can check them out here.

The percentage of white men surrounding the President just went up!

Here is Bloomberg on Power’s leave-taking (for now anyway):

Samantha Power, one of President Barack Obama’s top advisers on national security and a longtime aide, is leaving the administration, at least temporarily, to focus on family matters, a White House spokesman said.

Power, director for multilateral affairs and human rights at the National Security Council, has served as an aide to Obama since his 2008 presidential campaign and is a Pulitzer Prize- winning author for her book on genocide. She has two young children, one three years old and the other eight months.

Power probably will return to the administration, though no decisions have been made on what her future role might be, according to the spokesman, Tommy Vietor.

“Samantha has been a powerful voice in this administration and a longtime friend and adviser to the president,” Vietor said. “We will miss her at the NSC, and we look forward to continuing the president’s work promoting human rights and dignity.”

Power, 42, who successfully advocated for the 2011 intervention in Libya on humanitarian grounds, has played a central role in discussions over how far the U.S. should go to protect civilians from repressive regimes.   [Her ‘responsibility to protect’ doctrine is a thinly disguised excuse to send the US to war—ed]

[….]

Her departure comes as Obama has been criticized for not appointing a sufficient number of women to high-profile posts as he forms his second-term team.

Rohingya Muslims warmly welcomed in terrorist-ridden southern Thailand….

….and the Saudis are hypocrites!

Nobody wants Rohingya Muslims (except of course the US Conference of Catholic Bishops), least of all the Thai government that fears they are arriving on their shores to add to the already aggressive Islamist population in Thailand’s southern provinces, so why they sent a bunch of the recent Rohingya “asylum seekers” to the troubled south is beyond me.

Here is the story from The Irrawady a few days ago:

PATTANI, Thailand — The three conflict-ridden provinces of Thailand’s Deep South are not a popular destination for many visitors. A renewed and intensifying insurgency, which has killed more than 5,300 people since 2004, provides a daily diet of military check-points, assassinations and bombings.

But for Sakir Husan, 18, and other ethnic Rohingya fleeing sectarian violence in Burma’s Arakan State, the region is proving a welcome escape from the nightmares of their lives back home. Husan is part of a 22-strong group—18 men and four women—currently being housed in the capital of Pattani Province since Jan. 16.

They are among hundreds of Rohingya who have landed on the shores of southern Thailand this month and then been dispersed across the country by the authorities. But in contrast to the frosty reception Rohingya have often received from the Thai state, which has been criticized by human rights groups for previously returning them to sea or overland to Burma, the group in Pattani has received the warmest of welcomes from the local—predominantly Malay-Muslim—population.

No surprise that—Muslim charity to fellow Muslims is well-known, or is it?

Saudi racists!  Saudi Arabia takes NO refugees!

We have reported on many occasions that Rohingya refugees have been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia, here.  Somali refugees who get through Saudi Arabia’s state of the art border fence are immediately flown back to Somalia, here.  And, Saudi Arabia refused to give refuge to any Iraqis at the height of the war, here.   They want no foreigners to become part of their culture—they want NO diversity in Saudi Arabia!

And, yet they have the audacity to write sanctimonious op-eds lecturing other countries (Thailand!) about their treatment of Rohingya!

I guess this is Taqiyya straight up!  From Saudi Arabia’s Arab News:

Refugees are a nuisance. That is a reality. Settled, stable communities around the world that find themselves hosting frightened and traumatized people, with little more than the clothes they stand up in, often with limited understanding of the language and culture of the land to which they have fled, can pose a threat to public order. They will inevitably disrupt the lives of the people in whose world they have arrived.

Yet the challenge posed by refugees cannot be ignored. They are vulnerable, pauperized and afraid. Common humanity dictates that a society which finds itself hosting people driven into exile, must do its best to take care of them. Along with their government, they must be prepared to extend shelter, concern and friendship to refugees.

And by and large, this is what has been seen. Turks, Jordanians and Lebanese have been prepared to do what they can to assist those who have fled from Assad’s monstrous repression in Syria. [But not so Saudi-Arabia—-ed]   However there have been some deplorable exceptions to this generous behavior. One of the most unforgivable has been taking place in Thailand, with the treatment of Muslim Rohingya who have fled bloody persecution by Myanmar’s Buddhist majority. To escape the massacres, which the Burmese police and military seem to be doing little to stop, let alone investigate, thousands of Rohingya have taken to flimsy, overcrowded boats in an attempt to reach the friendlier and more welcoming shores of Malaysia.

The nerve of these Saudis!

The Obama Administration and the UN should demand that rich Saudi Arabia help with the hundreds of thousands of “homeless” Muslims roaming the world by resettling them there in Saudi Arabia (when pigs fly!).

For new readers:  We have 132 previous posts on the Rohingya issue going back five years.  Our interest is that their migration is a study in how a Muslim population spreads and how the media helps the Islamists (Saudi Arabia for one!) build a case of VICTIMHOOD.  You watch, they are already being resettled in the West and in the US, it won’t be long before a full blown howl begins that we need to resettle them in larger numbers.   We weren’t around for the drumbeat on Somalis, but now we have chronicled the build-up on the Rohingya (for what it is worth!).
