Boise, Idaho: Much wailing and gnashing of teeth as refugees get evicted, will they send some to Twin Falls?

I don’t know whether to take this story at its face value—new landlord wants to refurbish the apartments and put them back on the market at a higher price (landlords can do that right?).  Or, whether there is more to this story and the new landlord needs to let’s just say, clean up.
(Once refugee resettlement contractors get a foothold in certain apartment complexes they tend to keep bringing them there often to the chagrin of the landlords.)
Before I get to the news, as Obama plans to welcome 85,000 new impoverished people to America, low income housing is increasingly unavailable—not just for refugees but for Americans with low incomes.  So unless Obama gets his HUD projects moving quickly, there is going to be an extreme shortage of housing available for this next year’s delivery of 85,000 third worlders to America beginning this coming Thursday (October 1)!
One way to slow the flow to your town is to get involved in blocking the HUD housing Obama wants so badly, and I am hearing from some of you that HUD and its developer pals are already showing up in your nice middle class towns.
By the way, when you watch the IRC contractor almost in tears, note that these refugee tenants pay rent month by month which tells me that they are not becoming self-sustaining as Lawrence Bartlett and other biased presenters told the audience in Twin Falls this past week was the goal.
And hey, Twin Falls, they have 400 poor refugees to move to new apartments in just a few weeks, some might be coming your way as Boise has a housing shortage!

Their CEO, David Miliband (bff Hillary Clinton and George Soros), makes close to a half a million dollars a year to run the IRC and was one of the first to demand that the Obama Administration admit 65,000 Syrian refugees (now he is up to 100,000).  Maybe he could pitch in a little cash to help the refugees he (a Brit) has invited to colonize America!

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) headed by a Brit—David Miliband the former British Foreign Secretary—restates its demand that Obama admit 65,000 mostly Muslim Syrians to the US ASAP.
He also praises Germany, Iceland and Sweden for opening their nations to the hundreds of thousands of migrants swarming into Europe!

* In almost five years of war only 1,541 Syrian refugees have been resettled to the United States.

* Over 4 million Syrian refugees are living in limbo in neighboring countries
IRC has assisted 270 of 1,541 Syrian refugees resettled to US, and is prepared to assist a lot more.

New York, September 2, 2015 —The International Rescue Committee (IRC), which so far has resettled 270 Syrians to the United States, said today that the country’s commitment to accept between 5,000 and 8,000 Syrian refugees before the end of 2016 can only be a first step. According to the IRC, the figure doesn’t come close to addressing the crisis in and around Syria, which is now engulfing Europe where Germany, for example, expects the number of refugees and asylum seekers to this year reach 800,000.

Last year UNHCR, the UN refugee resettlement agency, called on the international community to resettle 130,000 Syrian refugees before the end of 2016. Today the IRC reiterates its call on the US government, long recognized as a leader in humanitarian response, to resettle half of that number – 65,000 – before the end of 2016, a call that was endorsed by fourteen members of the U.S. Senate in May. Revolving door and one big happy family! This is Bob Carey, the new director of the ORR. He was previously a VP at the International Rescue Committee. And, what a coincidence, over at the State Department, the Asst. Secretary of State for PRM, Anne Richard, was also a VP at the International Rescue Committee. Gee! Do you think federal contractor, the IRC headed by Brit David Miliband, might have a bit of an inside track to the federal agencies that feed them?

The US Refugee Resettlement Program is administered by two different agencies of the federal government.  The US State Department admits refugees and contracts with the nine major federal resettlement contractors (they call them VOLAGS short for Voluntary Agencies which they definitely are not!) to distribute them.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in the Dept. of Health and Human  Services is responsible for making sure that myriad grants get out to the contractors and their subcontractors and to manage much of the other day-to-day operation being dictated from Washington.
The ORR has produced a handy map.  When you click on your state, contact information pops up for the bureaucrats who are responsible in your state.
You will see some states are Wilson-Fish states which means they are run pretty much with no state government involvement.  Go here to learn more about Wilson-Fish.

Regarding my reference to David Miliband in the photo caption—Miliband is the first resettlement contractor head honcho to push for Obama to admit 65,000 Syrians before his term ends.
September is an important month in the resettlement process, first because the feds and their contractors are scrambling to bring in as many refugees as possible in hopes of meeting the 70,000 refugee target that Obama set last year.
And, because Obama, by the end of September, will submit his Annual Determination Letter (this one for 2015) to Congress (where it has been rubber-stamped each year) in which he will lay out the goal for FY2016 which begins on October 1.  Watch for a huge jump in the number of Syrians to be admitted and distributed to your towns in the coming fiscal year.
We will be watching to see if any Member of Congress or US Senator says anything about Obama’s picks for 2016.

Wichita KS: Schools desperate for more funding to cope with refugee overload

We told you about Wichita public school problems here back in the spring, now comes news that, as the school year is about to begin, the school system there is in desperate need of more funding due to the refugee overload—brought there by the International Rescue Committee and and Episcopal resettlement contractor.  See IRC in Kansas here.

So what might this photo have to do with Wichita? That man on the left (Hillary says if you met him you would have a “crush”) is the CEO of the International Rescue Committee based in NYC. He is the former British foreign secretary who has come to the US to head up the IRC. He makes a salary of nearly $500,000 to resettle third world refugees to places like Wichita, Kansas. Note to ‘welcoming’ communities—the federal government will not be helping you out with funding!  This extra funding will be provided by the taxpayers of Kansas!

The Wichita school district is seeking nearly $1 million from the state’s extraordinary need fund for schools, citing a large number of students who are refugees.

It is among 38 school districts that have applied to the Kansas Department of Education for additional dollars to deal with a variety of needs, including enrollment increases.

The districts are seeking slightly more than $15 million. The extraordinary need fund has $12.3 million in it. The State Finance Council will weigh districts’ requests at its Aug. 24 meeting.

Wichita, the state’s largest district, pointed to a growing number of refugee students as the reason it needs the additional resources.

“Episcopal Wichita Area Refugee Ministries and the International Rescue Committee in Wichita have each received allocations and are actively relocating refugees to Wichita,” wrote Jim Freeman, the district’s chief financial officer, in the application the district submitted Monday.

“As a result the district is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of school-aged students who are refugees from Burma, Somalia and the Congo region of Africa. Some have lived in refugee camps for decades; all are fleeing persecution, oppression and war.”

The district had 132 refugees enrolled during last school year, and 95 percent did not speak English when they arrived. The district expects an additional 145 to 150 refugee students to enroll this year; it expects the total number of refugees to be about 220.

Freeman wrote that these students come with a host of unusual needs.

Freeman noted that the district did not receive any federal immigration funds for this fiscal year despite its growing number of refugee and immigrant students.

The hard Lefties like David Miliband, CEO of the largest (in financial terms) of the US refugee resettlement contractors, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), says we need to increase our refugee ceiling for the coming fiscal year from 70,000 to 80,000 (beginning Oct. 1, 2015) to help rescue the hordes of climate refugees on the march around the world.

Embrace political Islam!
To hear him tell it, climate, not Islamic terrorism, is the driver of the wars that are displacing people across the globe. That doesn’t surprise us because in 2013 Miliband said we “must embrace political Islamism.”
Not a word here either that Miliband is the first one to get the ball rolling on Syrian resettlement by asking Obama to admit 65,000 (65,000!) Syrians to the US before Obama leaves office.  The vast majority, of those resettled so far, are Muslims, not the persecuted Christians!
Miliband is the former foreign secretary of the UK and brother to “Red Ed” who took a bashing along with his Labor Party in recent UK elections.  Miliband’s fans include George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Samantha Power etc.  (see them welcoming him to NYC here).

This is what Miliband told Reuters (reported here at Business Insider):

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A historic 52 million people are fleeing conflict worldwide, a trend that will intensify over the next two decades because of climate change, International Rescue Committee chief David Miliband said on Friday.

Will climate refugees soon be on the march to your town?

“One of the drivers of displacement and potential conflict over the next 10 to 20 years will be climate (change) – resource scarcity,” said Miliband, a former foreign minister of Great Britain. “Climate change is going to compound the cocktail that’s driving war and displacement.”

Miliband said there were 16 million refugees and 36 million people displaced in their own countries, typically by civil war. That is the largest number of people fleeing persecution since World War Two, he said during a Reuters Newsmaker event in New York.

“Do I think the current level is a blip or a trend?” Miliband said. “I would say it’s a trend.”

Miliband, whose relief and development agency is helping vulnerable people in 35 countries, urged the United States to raise its ceiling for resettling refugees to 80,000 from the current 70,000.

The International Rescue Committee and the other eight resettlement contractors are paid by the head to resettle refugees so they are always urging an increase in numbers!

How wealthy is the IRC?

I just had a look at the most recent Form 990(2013) for the IRC.  It took in that year, from gifts, grants and contributions, $451,017,146 (nearly a half billion $) and $305,481,609 came from YOU!  They are thus 68% taxpayer funded.
Their former CEO pulled in a very handsome salary and benefits package totaling $485,321 to run a NON-PROFIT!  We can assume that David Miliband didn’t move across the Atlantic for much less than that! Probably next year’s tax return will report Miliband’s compensation package.
Doing well by doing good (again)!
What was even more interesting to me is the fact that they have 2 other employees who make over $300,000 a year, and 8 who make over $200,000 A YEAR!   To find those numbers you have to go all the way to page 175 of a 218 page tax return!

For more on the Climate refugee hysteria, go to our special category here.  When I first started following this issue a few years ago, there was a conflict on-going about using the word “refugee” to define those displaced (supposedly) by global warming.  The ‘humanitarians’ didn’t want the environmentalists mucking around with their word —refugee.  I see they now must have patched things up and ‘climate refugee’ is an acceptable term!
