Apparently Idaho citizens have been expressing concerns (good for you!) about the on-going refugee resettlement program located at the College of Southern Idaho perhaps in response to our reporting, here, and that of World Net Daily here.
Every official involved is playing down concerns that the soon-to-arrive Syrian refugees will be thoroughly screened. I guess they haven’t heard that the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul, calls the resettlement a “jihadi pipeline” to America. Rep. Stephen Hartgen who represents Twin Falls must now obtain the R & P Abstract prepared by the resettlement agency each year and make it public to the community, that is, if they aren’t just blowing smoke about the need for transparency.
The article is your basic admonition to calm down, move along, nothing to see here.
However, the State’s Attorney General’s comment that the refugee contractor should be transparent really jumped out at me because in fact the resettlement agency contractors have been told that they must not give out any information, especially the R & P Abstract they prepare every year for the federal government in order to get paid (by you) for their work.
I will bet no local elected official has ever seen the Abstract for Twin Falls/Magic Valley in which the resettlement agency lays out the capacity of the community to handle a certain number of refugees from certain countries, but more importantly it tells what amenities the town is offering the refugees.
Learn more about Abstracts and see what one looks like, here.
Here is a bit of MagicValley.com’s news. Test their ‘transparency!’
Editor: The article has been removed at the request of an attorney for the newspaper which is clearly unhappy with any of their articles being partially posted here at RRW.
This is just further demonstration of how local newspapers are attempting to silence critics presumably because they are in the pockets of the federal government, the refugee contractors and the big businesses that need this cheap immigrant labor. Who is driving the cheap labor needs in Twin Falls?
By the way, since Idaho is a Wilson-Fish state, the state legislature has very little say in what goes on with the program. That should be the first step for those concerned—the state of Idaho should attempt to regain some control over the program.
But, first, all involved should call up the resettlement office and ask for their recent R & P Abstracts. I think you will be amazed at what you will find! Let’s see how transparent they are willing to be!
Everyone: In addition to finding the College of Southern Idaho Refugee program listed here, find your local contractor office (or one near you) and ask for their most recent R & P Abstracts because you have every right to know what they are planning for your town!
P.S. Didn’t our dear leader say the watchword of his administration would be transparency! Was he lying?
The hard Lefties like David Miliband, CEO of the largest (in financial terms) of the US refugee resettlement contractors, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), says we need to increase our refugee ceiling for the coming fiscal year from 70,000 to 80,000 (beginning Oct. 1, 2015) to help rescue the hordes of climate refugees on the march around the world. Hillary loves Miliband! See “Big crush” http://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/nov/17/hillary-clinton-david-miliband-interview Embrace political Islam!
To hear him tell it, climate, not Islamic terrorism, is the driver of the wars that are displacing people across the globe. That doesn’t surprise us because in 2013 Miliband said we “must embrace political Islamism.”
Not a word here either that Miliband is the first one to get the ball rolling on Syrian resettlementby asking Obama to admit 65,000 (65,000!) Syrians to the US before Obama leaves office. The vast majority, of those resettled so far, are Muslims, not the persecuted Christians!
Miliband is the former foreign secretary of the UK and brother to “Red Ed”who took a bashing along with his Labor Party in recent UK elections. Miliband’s fans include George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Samantha Power etc. (see them welcoming him to NYC here).
NEW YORK (Reuters) – A historic 52 million people are fleeing conflict worldwide, a trend that will intensify over the next two decades because of climate change, International Rescue Committee chief David Miliband said on Friday.
Will climate refugees soon be on the march to your town?
“One of the drivers of displacement and potential conflict over the next 10 to 20 years will be climate (change) – resource scarcity,” said Miliband, a former foreign minister of Great Britain. “Climate change is going to compound the cocktail that’s driving war and displacement.”
Miliband said there were 16 million refugees and 36 million people displaced in their own countries, typically by civil war. That is the largest number of people fleeing persecution since World War Two, he said during a Reuters Newsmaker event in New York.
“Do I think the current level is a blip or a trend?” Miliband said. “I would say it’s a trend.”
[….]
Miliband, whose relief and development agency is helping vulnerable people in 35 countries, urged the United States to raise its ceiling for resettling refugees to 80,000 from the current 70,000.
The International Rescue Committeeand the other eight resettlement contractors are paid by the head to resettle refugees so they are always urging an increase in numbers!
By the way see the Green Left herealso on the Climate refugee bandwagon. It is all about the weather and nothing to do with Islamic supremacists seeking world dominance!
How wealthy is the IRC?
I just had a look at the most recent Form 990(2013) for the IRC. It took in that year, from gifts, grants and contributions, $451,017,146 (nearly a half billion $) and $305,481,609 came from YOU! They are thus 68% taxpayer funded. Their former CEO pulled in a very handsome salary and benefits package totaling $485,321 to run a NON-PROFIT! We can assume that David Miliband didn’t move across the Atlantic for much less than that! Probably next year’s tax return will report Miliband’s compensation package. Doing well by doing good (again)!
What was even more interesting to me is the fact that they have 2 other employees who make over $300,000 a year, and 8 who make over $200,000 A YEAR! To find those numbers you have to go all the way to page 175 of a 218 page tax return! Endnote:
For more on the Climate refugee hysteria, go to our special category here. When I first started following this issue a few years ago, there was a conflict on-going about using the word “refugee” to define those displaced (supposedly) by global warming. The ‘humanitarians’ didn’t want the environmentalists mucking around with their word —refugee. I see they now must have patched things up and ‘climate refugee’ is an acceptable term!
I mean that because federal resettlement contractor, World Relief (National Association of Evangelicals), decided to target that town, of all places, we have made an enormous leap in our understanding of how the secretive UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions and Resettlement program operates. Stephan Bauman is CEO of World Relief and one of 5 employees making a six-figure salary largely on your dime while advocating for 65,000 Syrians be resettled in your towns and cities! Photo: http://worldrelief.org/leadership
Additionally we are gaining a model for citizen involvement and a blueprint for what needs to happen going forward.
Spartanburg also ties in to the much larger issue in Washington right now—-should we do what the UN wants and admit 65,000 Syrians to the US in the next year or so? World Relief is on record with a resounding—YES!
And, to top it all off, since Spartanburg happens to fall in the district of the chairman of the subcommittee responsible for the US Refugee Program, we hold out hope that oversight hearings will be scheduled soon to begin to review a program that has literally become a multi-billion dollar a year industry that is way too large and way too secretive.
Spartanburg has it all!
I think we will look back at this point in time with Spartanburg as the point where the history of refugee resettlement in America is changed forever. I say that because there is a sea change occurring before our eyes as the public is awakening to the problems with out-of-control-immigration of every kind.
(For background see ouroriginal postwith links for updates.)
Spartanburg has the most important element when a town first gets word that it has been selected by an unelected body—a resettlement contractor like World Relief—to ‘welcome’ third worlders to town. It has an energized and active grassroots citizenry willing to demand answers and not shrink from the task when the ‘religious’ Left begins hurling accusations that anyone asking questions is automatically mean-spirited or downright racist.
One of those leading voices in Spartanburg is Dr. Christina Jeffrey who penned an excellent letter to the editor over the weekend in response to a scurrilous attack on Rep. Trey Gowdy. The letter writer, She D’Ambrosio, said this about the Congressman:
Wish I had a job that I could waste time and taxpayer dollars on useless crap.
Dr. Jeffrey responded with this (emphasis is mine):
I read with dismay a GoUpstate.com comment, reprinted in the May 21 Herald-Journal, attacking Congressman Trey Gowdy for wasting time/money investigating a refugee program. The writer’s complaint showed a complete misunderstanding of our federal system.
However, since I first asked our congressman to look into the matter of Syrians possibly being welcomed into Spartanburg County, maybe she should blame me. A March 9 Herald-Journal article mentioned Syrians as one group that might resettle here. The State Department reports that 92 percent of Syrian refugees are Muslim (www.wrapsnet.org/Reports/InteractiveReporting/tabid/393/Default.aspx). (It has since been reported that no Syrians will be among these refugees.)
Gowdy is the ideal official to look into the Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP); not only is he our congressman, he is chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security and responsible for overseeing refugee programs.
Because Secretary of State John Kerry insists that much of the information relative to the RRP is “proprietary,” aka secret, the Gowdy committee will need to hold hearings to get answers. This will take a long time.
There is more read it all. Call Rep. Trey Gowdy’s office and ask him to demand transparency by the federal government and its contractors when resettling refugees. Ask him to hold hearings on the whole program! Call 202-225-6030
Lesson to our readers: Keep hounding them for answers! You have every right to know what is being planned for your town!
World Relief’s own documents indicate they have plans to resettle Syrians to Spartanburg
Do they expect us to believe that they (World Relief) would go on record with the US Senateas one of six supposedly religious government contractors asking for 65,000 Syrians to be resettled very soon and at the same time say that none would go to Spartanburg? We have the FY2015 Spartanburg ABSTRACT that World Relief submitted to Washingtonin its quest for funding and it specifically states that refugees would be resettled in Spartanburg from: Burma, Colombia, Congo, Cuba, Iraq, Sudan and Syria.
The Abstract tells how many refugees, and from where, your town can accommodate, and what amenities your town has to offer the refugees. All of you should continue to try to get copies of the Abstract for your town. (See list of local contractors near you).
Based on feedback we are getting from those who have asked, citizens are being told they can’t have them and in some cases the contractor is playing dumb and pretending that they don’t know what the caller is looking for. We think the word has gone out nationally to keep this important information from you.
If you continue to be rebuffed, ask your Congressman or US Senators to get it for you!
Our goal going forward must be to demand that Congress stop the secrecy and require that these documents about your town be public information!
If you haven’t called Rep. Trey Gowdy yet to ask him to hold hearings, please do so. If you have already called, do it again! About the photo and World Relief’s finances: I checked a recent Form990 for World Relief and learned that they received gifts, grants and contributions for that year in the amount of $54,777,404. $41,161,003 was from government grants. They could not exist without that 75% in taxpayer funding they receive. Their salaries are not as outrageous as other contractors, one in particular, David Miliband, the CEO of the International Rescue Committee pulls down an annual salary of nearly a half a million dollars to run a charity!
Endnote: Is your church, as a partner to World Relief, supporting the importation of 65,000 Syrians to America right now? Go here to have a look!
The beautiful Svalbard islands. According to wikipedia, “the midnight sun lasts 99 days and polar night 84 days.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard
I have so much to do on the farm today, I shouldn’t take a minute to post this, but it made me laugh and I hope it perks you up too!
Read this, and imagine now how the Leftists (normally eagerly “welcoming” refugees) must be reacting to the news that a pristine area with many national parks might be a great place to temporarily house 10,000 Syrians! The resistance to resettling Syrians is not just in the US, but all over the western world citizens have had enough. FrP politician Christian Eikeland: Let’s build a camp in Svalbard! Learn about the Fremskrittspartiet here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_Party_%28Norway%29
From The Nordic Page:
While the Conservatives (Høyre) and Frp oppose the idea of accepting 10,000 refugees for next two years due to hosting capacity in municipalities, FrP politician Christian Eikeland proposes an extra ordinary solution.
– If the Parliament accepts that Norway should accept 10,000 refugees by rejecting the capacity argument, then we can create a refugee camp in Svalbard, says Eikeland to NRK.
He notes that the camp can be used to host refugees from Syria for a temporary period till other munuicipalities offer a place.
Christian Eikeland is aware of the challenges related to the harsh weather and social conditions in Svalbard, but still believes it is possible.
Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Situated north of mainland Europe, it is about midway between continental Norway and the North Pole.
[….]
The archipelago features an Arctic climate, although with significantly higher temperatures than other areas at the same latitude. The flora take advantage of the long period of midnight sun to compensate for the polar night. Svalbard is a breeding ground for many seabirds, and also features polar bears, reindeer, the Arctic fox, and certain marine mammals. Seven national parks and twenty-three nature reserves cover two-thirds of the archipelago, protecting the largely untouched, yet fragile, natural environment. Approximately 60% of the archipelago is covered with glaciers, and the islands feature many mountains and fjords.
In our previous postwe reported that the Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) apparently played a role in getting those 14 Senators signed on to a letter urging Obama to open the flood gates to 65,000 Syrian refugees before his term in office expires!
I’ve mentioned RCUSA over the years, but honestly may have underestimated the role this consortium of non-profits play in advancing an open borders agenda by lobbying Congress and promoting secrecy about refugee resettlement in towns and cities across America (indeed they apparently are informing the 350 plus resettlement contractors to give no information to any of you calling your local resettlement offices looking for information on what is planned for your towns.) RCUSA chairman Anastasia Brown (in stripped shirt) talking about Syrian refugees earlier this year. Brown is one of the lobbyists for the USCCB. Here are the members which pay “dues” to belong to this lobbying arm for the resettlement industry.
I sure hope they aren’t using our tax dollars for their dues! (Those in red are the nine major resettlement contractors):
Here is what they do (important to understand that ‘advocacy’=lobbying):
RCUSA is a member-driven coalition and its funding comes solely from member dues. There are a number of standing committees that serve to structure the on-going work of the coalition. In addition to these committees, members are informed daily through RCUSA communications about meetings, events, and other relevant information pertaining to refugee and displacement issues.
General Council: The executives and/or officers from each member agency meet regularly to discuss the council’s work and reach consensus on key advocacy positions and other relevant issues.
Advocacy Committee: Individuals from each member agency meet bi-weekly in Washington, D.C. to coordinate legislative and administrative advocacy efforts at the national and local level.
The committee works together to advance refugee protection, strengthen the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), educate policymakers about the value of refugee protection and a strong resettlement program, and promote adequate funding for refugees. Katie Conway, Immigration and Refugee Policy Analyst, Episcopal Migration Ministries, currently chairs this Committee.
Chairmanship rotates and the present chair is Anastasia Brown of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, here. Brown is the contractor/lobbyist I observed who asked that we resettle more Rohingya Muslims here in 2013.
Refugee Council USA is chaired by the executives of member agencies on a rotating basis and has two full time staff.
RCUSA Chair: Anastasia Brown, Director of Resettlement Services of Migration and Refugee Services, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops
Anastasia Brown is the Director of Resettlement Services, Migration and Refugee
Services, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (MRS/USCCB). She has over 18
years of experience with refugee resettlement and is familiar with both overseas and
domestic resettlement issues. USCCB resettles approximately 28% of all refugees that
enter the United States. Ms. Brown served as the Chair of the Resettlement Committee
of the Refugee Council USA from 2008-2010. Ms. Brown served as the NGO co-chair
for the joint US Government/Refugee Council USA working group for the East Asia
Pacific Region from 2004-2007 and the Misrepresentation/Fraud Workgroup from 2004-
2006.
Prior to joining MRS/USCCB, Ms. Brown worked for the International Catholic
Migration Commission processing refugees from Vietnam under the Orderly Departure
Program.
To concerned citizens! Do not get discouraged when you see the lobbying power and the money behind the refugee resettlement industry and know that you are having an impact! You have every right to know every detail about who is coming to your towns and what these unelected advocacy groups are planning!
