Fun with numbers: find out how many refugees came to your town in last 5 years

Just this morning as I wrote the previous post on an Iraqi woman who beat her daughter, I had a close look at some databases at the US State Department’s Refugee Processing Center.

They have a database where you can see how many refugees and from what countries were resettled in your town.  And, I mean town!  Apparently the cities are overflowing with immigrants and the State Department is busy spreading new refugees out to even small towns.   They want to make sure you too experience the joys of multiculturalism.

Keep in mind, a refugee might be resettled in a particular town, but they are free to move after in some cases 3 months (it’s called secondary migration).   No one tracks where they go (this is America you will be reminded by open borders activists), but the problem is that, assume they are receiving treatment for TB where originally resettled, there is no way of knowing if they continue the meds after moving.

So those resettled in your town may no longer be there, or conversely they have attracted secondary migrants to come to your town and the numbers of a particular nationality are now larger.

Go here and scroll down to “Arrivals by destination city by nationality” open link to a ‘fun’ database.

This post will be archived in our ‘where to find information’ category.

Arizona: Iraqi woman arrested for beating daughter who talked to a boy

Here we go again.  Did no one tell the Iraqis they had to leave certain portions of their Muslim culture behind when they came to America?

Remember it was only last spring that another Iraqi in Arizona was sentenced to 34 years in prison for murdering his daughter because she became too westernized.

Here is the latest story from Reuters:

(Reuters) – An Iraqi woman has been arrested in Arizona accused of beating her daughter and padlocking her to a bed in outrage after she spoke to a male student at school in violation of the family’s traditional values, police said on Friday.

Yusra Farhan was taken into custody after a struggle with officers on Wednesday at a Phoenix hospital where her 19-year-old daughter was being treated for minor injuries, Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said.

By the way, I saw another account of this arrest and struggle in which an expert on Islam said the reason she likely struggled so hard is that it is against their religion also for women to be touched by men (presumably it was male officers arresting her).  I can see it now—CAIR will swoop in and demand that all arrests of women be done by female police officers.  And, readers that is how Sharia law will creep into America.

The incident started on Tuesday, when the daughter was spotted by her father talking to a 19-year-old man at a high school parking lot in Phoenix. Police said her father became angry and took her home, striking her several times.

The mother arrived home later and admitted to hitting her daughter with her hands and a shoe, and tying her to the bed with a rope around her waist that was secured with a padlock, court records showed.

Farhan told police she hit her daughter because she “was speaking to a male subject and her Iraq culture states a female is not allowed to be having contact with males because females are not allowed to have boyfriends,” court records said.

Here is a reference to the honor killing I mentioned above:

The arrest follows another high-profile case involving an Iraqi immigrant. Last April, an Arizona judge sentenced Faleh Hassan Almaleki to 34-1/2 years in prison for murdering his daughter in what was described as an “honor killing.”

Almaleki struck and killed his 20-year-old daughter Noor with his vehicle in a Phoenix valley parking lot in 2009 for becoming too Westernized and violating what he said were Iraqi and Muslim values. He also injured her boyfriend’s mother before fleeing the scene.

Is Farhan one of thousands of Iraqi refugees resettled in Arizona in recent years?  The article doesn’t use the R-word, but the odds are pretty good that she and her family came to the US in the last few years through the Refugee Resettlement Program of the US State Department.

By the way, back in 2010 the state refugee coordinator for Arizona begged the State Department and its contractors to NOT send more Iraqis to Arizona, here.  And, you might find it interesting to see the letter to the editor in 2008 from an Iraqi teen in Tucson explaining how Iraqis aren’t prepared to live in America, here, because someone has set their expectations too high and they end up angry.

How many Iraqi refugees have been resettled in your state?

The numbers are here at the State Department’s refugee processing center.  The second link to a spreadsheet is for “Cumulative Arrivals by State for Refugee and SIV’s for Iraq.”   Click on it and find your state.

You might also go to “Arrivals by destination city” and look up your town or city and find out what nationalities came to your town through this program over the last ten years.

Uzbek Muslim “student” pleads guilty in plot to kill Obama

Don’t you think that it is just fascinating that the President, who wanted to reverse all the bad feelings toward America in the Muslim world, was the target of a Muslim extremist.   We first reported on his arrest here.

From AP today:

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (AP) — A man from Uzbekistan pleaded guilty Friday to plotting with an Islamic terror organization in his home country to kill President Barack Obama with an automatic rifle he bought from an undercover federal agent in Alabama.

Authorities said Ulugbek Kodirov had discussed trying to kill the president as he campaigned for re-election because he would be out in public more often.

[….]

Kodirov pleaded guilty to three counts: Threatening to kill the president, possessing an automatic weapon, and providing material support to terrorists. Four other charges were dropped as part of the deal.

[….]

Kodirov said that he did not care if he got shot and killed, as long as he killed President Obama,” according to the plea deal.  [expecting virgins I suppose—ed]

Kodirov entered the US on a student visa but never enrolled in school—what a surprise!  I wonder how many other Islamists are here on student visas looking for infidels to kill?

Authorities say Kodirov was in the country illegally because he obtained a student visa but never enrolled in school.

And, you know what is so funny?

Obama just 10 days ago loosened restrictions on foreign students wishing to enter the US on Student Visas, here.

Now here is perhaps the  most interesting part of this whole AP story—the US State Department says Muslim terrorists have been perpetrating violence in Uzbekistan for a decade!

Islamic terrorists have been linked to sporadic violence in Uzbekistan for more than a decade, according to the State Department.

THEN WHY ON EARTH WERE WE BRINGING SOME OF THEM TO THE US THROUGH THE REFUGEE PROGRAM????

State Department refugee officials in Tennessee this week

Update:  More accounts of the State Department’s trip to calm down the state of Tennessee over refugees, here and here.

I expect this was a mission to calm things down in a state, the only state!, that has taken action to set up a process to put a moratorium in place if a local community can’t handle the number of refugees the State Department is planning to send (with the help of federal contractors like Catholic Charities).

Here is the story:

A top U.S. State Department official, who spent two days in Tennessee discussing the state’s refugee resettlement program, said he wants to give communities a “louder voice in the process.”

“We believe it’s in the best interest of the United States that we pursue this program, but also we need to recognize the community nature of the program,” David Robinson*, acting assistant secretary of the Bureau of Population, Refugees, Migration, said during a news conference Thursday.

Robinson has been in the state for a two-day visit with community members, local government officials and employers to discuss the resettlement process.

The problem, Robinson said, is not about refugees but from people lumping refugees and immigrants — who often are associated with illegal immigration — in the same group.  Refugees are a very distinct subgroup of migrants, those who have a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group and are brought here legally, he said.

“These are people we reached out to, people we identified as in need of a solution,” he said.  [LOL! Like the Kosovars we brought to the US for a Clinton/Gore photo-op only to send back again later, or how about more recently the Uzbeks we brought for some political reason of our own—ed]

Tennessee is the first and only state to pass a law** that mandates resettlement agencies to report quarterly to local governments and allows local communities to apply for a “moratorium” on refugee resettlement if those agencies overload local resources.

*Robinson, readers may recall, wrote a report for the National War College in 2000 in which he demonstrated how refugees were used as political pawns in Clinton’s Bosnian War.

** The Tennessee law is discussed here in case any other state wants a model!

“Temporary” refugee indicted in Massachusetts on charges of lying to stay in US

No, can you believe it!  The Salvadoran is alleged to have lied on his application for Temporary Protected Status in order to stay in the US.  Imagine that!

From Reuters:

WASHINGTON, Feb 8 (Reuters) – A former Salvadoran military officer allegedly linked to the murder of six Jesuit priests during El Salvador’s civil war was indicted in federal court in Massachusetts on Wednesday for perjury and lying on immigration forms in order to stay in the United States, the U.S. Justice Department said.

Inocente Orlando Montano, 69, who lives outside Boston, lied on federal applications about when he entered the United States and concealed his military background on a Department of Homeland Security application for Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, the indictment alleged.

Just a reminder!  Arab activist groups, Syrians and their NGO friends are pushing for Temporary Protected Status for Syrians to be able to stay in this country—LOL!—temporarily.
