The Bailout: Facts and an action request from English First

English First has compiled facts about how illegal aliens acquired mortgages and are asking Americans to contact their Senators and Congressmen to voice your objection to giving mortgage relief to illegal aliens.   Go here for more information.

Don’t assume it is too late, call anyway because it plants the seed in their minds that citizens don’t want to bail out illegal aliens this time or next time.

Remember immigrants (legal and illegal) were a big reason politicians pushed banks into these risky loans in the first place (See Mortgage Monsters and the immigrant invasion here).

Refugee Resettlement Watch is getting around

I am tickled to report that Refugee Resettlement Watch just completed its best month ever.  We added 12,000 readers over the previous month putting September at over 30,000 total visitors.   In the month of September last year (our first year) we had just over 2500 readers.

Now by big blog standards that isn’t much but our topic is a very focused one, so it makes us happy to know that so many people are beginning to learn about refugee resettlement and related legal immigration issues.

Are you frustrated on some political issue and looking for a way to get a message to the public, consider starting your own blog.   Be an investigative reporter!   The mainstream media is in its death throws and alternative media is on the rise, so join in!

Center for Immigration Studies releases new report on immigrant gangs

Today the Center for Immigration Studies gives us useful information about the extent of immigrant criminal activity in the US and how law enforcement in some parts of the US are tackling it—other parts of the US are ignoring it!

WASHINGTON (October 1, 2008) – A new Center for Immigration Studies Backgrounder finds that immigration law enforcement has been highly effective in fighting gang activity around the country. Local law enforcement agencies that shun involvement with immigration law enforcement are missing an opportunity to protect their communities, according to the authors. Since 2005, ICE has arrested more than 8,000 immigrant gangsters from more than 700 different gangs under an initiative known as Operation Community Shield.

For more information and to read the report (Taking Back the Streets: ICE and Local Law Enforcement Target Immigrant Gangs)  go here.

We have written about Somali gang activity in Seattle here and in Minneapolis here, and Kurdish gangs in Nashville here.

Will we soon see more Christian Iraqi refugees?

The Iraqi parliament has apparently removed election law provisions that set aside a number of seats in provincial governments for minorities prompting last Sunday’s street protest by Christians who declared they were the original citizens of this land.   The reference is to the fact that Islam spread by the sword through this region centuries after the establishment of Christianity.   Hat tip:  Blulitespecial.

From an AP story:

Parliament last week approved a new law mandating elections in most of Iraq’s 18 provinces. But the law removed a system that reserved a few legislative seats for Christians and other religious minorities.

Lawmakers cited a lack of census data to determine what the quotas should be. But many Christians saw the move as an effort to marginalize their community.

“I think that some political groups are pushing the remaining Christians to leave Iraq,” worshipper Afram Razzaq-Allah said after services at a Catholic church in Baghdad. “They want us to feel that we are no longer Iraqis.”

They took to the streets after church in Mosul.

Hundreds of Christians staged street protests after Sunday church services in and around Mosul, a northern city where many of the country’s Christians live. Some said the removal of the quotas is an attempt to force them to leave Iraq.

“This is an unjust decision and it affects our rights as Christians,” Matti Galia, a local politician, said at a rally in Mosul. “We are original citizens in this country. The politicians’ goal was to divide the Iraqi people and create more struggles. Indirectly, they are telling us to leave Iraq.”

We have been taking some Iraqi Christian refugees, but the number of Muslims entering the US far exceeds the Christian numbers.
