Alinskyism (Day 8)

Continuing my calendar of sorts on the writing of Saul Alinsky, King of Change, the creative mind behind the Community Organizing Industry, below is another quote from “Reveille for Radicals.”

How did Hillary Clinton, Bill Ayers and supposedly our President-elect believe in such sophomoric ideas as this statement on war and peace?

We have said that we must surely end war or it will surely end us.  It is obvious that if the people of the world are free, informed, participating to the fullest degree, working together co-operatively, possessed of an understanding of their problems and those of their fellow men, completely aware of that simple truth that the welfare of one is contingent upon the welfare of all others, secure in a faith in themselves and in their fellow men, committed to ideals of human decency, then there will be no wars.

Yeh, wouldn’t that be nice.

Alinsky, like most “radicals” of his ilk, must be an atheist (and a narcissist) because he seems to have no clue about forces outside his little dream world.  He seems to be bogged down with employment fairness, and racial fairness, and whose life is tougher, and who has more money and more things.  The more I think about his writings it is almost like a child’s view of the world—how a child would look around and say, that’s not fair you have more stuff than I have.

Meanwhile he appears clueless about people being driven by powers larger than themselves.

Maybe because he has no belief system outside of himself, he can’t grasp the concept that people could be driven by forces—the Islamic imperative comes to mind—that have (as I see it) a purely evil intent, ultimately making war inevitable with those who are driven by opposing forces (also larger than oneself).

Survey: Half of America sees immigration as a problem

Here is a survey released yesterday by the German Marshall Fund of the US that looks really interesting.  I wish I had time to dig into it, but maybe you do.   The press release begins:

WASHINGTON, DC (November 17, 2008) – A new survey released today shows that that 50% of Americans and 47% of Europeans think immigration is more of a problem than an opportunity, but a closer look shows nuanced views of immigration and integration on both sides of the Atlantic and marked differences within Europe.

Seven years after Sept. 11, majorities on both sides of the Atlantic do not believe that immigration increases the likelihood of terrorism; only 35% of Europeans and 40% of Americans say that more immigration leads to increased risk of terrorism. On the other hand, 52% of Europeans say that immigration will increase crime in their society, and they were joined by 47% of Americans.

I had a laugh over the choice of the word “only” in the sentence about “only 40% of Americans say that more immigration leads to increased risk of terrorism.”   That is much higher than I would have expected.

I’ll bet there are some very revealing numbers buried in this study.

State Department now says all P-3 family reunification is suspended

Update Nov. 23rd:  I get answers to my questions in this post from someone who knows.

O.K. what is going on here?   Today the State Department, Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration has sent out another “fact sheet.”    At first glance it looks just like the one from November 12th, the one reported here.  That’s the bombshell disguised as a fact sheet that admitted that tens of thousands of Somalis and other Africans got into the US fraudulently.

Now comes a second fact sheet today, November 18th, that looks the same except for yet another astounding piece of news.   This one says all P-3 family reunification is suspended worldwide.

This is the question that is the same on both fact sheets:

Q: Is the P-3 program suspended in those countries where DNA testing has not taken place and/or there is no evidence of fraud?

Here is the answer to that question from the Nov. 12th release:

A: No. The P-3 is not suspended for non-African nationalities. However, the number of individuals applying from non-African countries, such as Burma, Cuba, etc., is very small.

Today, the answer has changed to this:

A: Although the Department of State is not currently accepting Affidavits of Relationship (AORs) for any nationality as of October 22, 2008, Overseas Processing Entities (OPEs) continue to process those AORs that were forwarded overseas prior to March 2008.

This leads to all sorts of questions on my part about what this means.  My speculations range from the benign, to the politically correct, to the sneaky, and to the serious security threat explanation:

*  Was the first fact sheet put out with a factual error (benign reason for the discrepancy)?

*  Has this problem become so thorny that some good people felt they had to do something before the waning days of the present administration?  But it really is too late to do anything of substance now.

*  And, why then halt the processing for refugees from countries that have not demonstrated fraud?  Or, is this more of an equal rights issue?  If we are going to cut off Muslims from Africa, we gotta be fair and cut off those Burmese Christians too?  Did CAIR call the State Department? (politcally correct explanation)

*  Or, is this just such a can of worms that the remnants of the Bush Administration are simply washing their hands of it and leaving (the crisis!) for the Obama Administration to sort out?  (sneaky explanation)

*  Has Homeland Security found a serious possible threat from the thousands of now unknown Somalis (they couldn’t have been screened, if they aren’t who they say they are) living in the US and decided it all should be shut down until more safeguards are in place?  (serious security threat)

I invite readers to join in my speculation and send a comment with your guess.  Either choose one of my theories or introduce new ones!

Oh, and one last thing.   This line is in both “fact sheets”:

Note that the initial DNA testing was limited to members of families applying for the P-3 program, and not between the applicants and the anchor relative in the United States.

It is now time to DNA test those “anchors” because it is they who are primarily responsible for lying about their “relatives” abroad.   Deport a bunch back to Africa and that will send a more powerful message then a suspension will.  It would aim the arrow of the law at the real criminals and not the law abiding people who just want to bring a loved one, such as a real spouse, to America.

Dearborn: Food stamp stealth jihad

This is a subject I took an interest in when an alleged food stamp scam happened in my county.  Now from time to time, I find more of these schemes to defraud the US taxpayer around the country.   Here is a recent one from Michigan.    And, by the way, as our economy slumps and more people require food stamps we can expect to see more of these scam artists taking advantage.

DEARBORN – Acting United States Attorney Terrence Berg announced Thursday that two separate indictments have been returned charging two Dearborn residents with food stamp fraud.

The indictments allege a scheme to defraud the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) of approximately $566,000 in Food Stamp Program benefits.

The scam goes like this:  clerks and store owners (most with names that sound like they belong to the Religion of Peace) pay cash at a rate of maybe 50 cents on the dollar to purchase food stamps from poor folks.  They then seek reimbursement from the federal government (you, the taxpayer) for the full dollar.

Here is the information on these two:

Kassem Khalil, 48, is alleged to have engaged in a scheme to defraud the USDA of approximately $144,000. The indictment states Khalil illegally paid food stamp beneficiaries cash in exchange for the food stamp benefits held via their EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) debit cards.

And this is very funny (sort of!), this next guy, the bigger fish of the two, is appropriately named Jihad!

In a separate indictment, Jihad Aoun, 28, is alleged to have engaged in a scheme to defraud the USDA of approximately $422,000. The indictment states Aoun illegally paid food stamp beneficiaries cash in exchange for the food stamp benefits held via their EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) debit cards.

Adding insult to injury, I’m guessing all this money being raked in from our welfare system is going elsewhere to fund the jihad against us.

I hope the authorities are checking the immigration status of these two.

Reforms needed:  One of my readers had a great idea for fixing this system.   Allow only big chain grocery stores to take food stamps and cut out all these ‘mom and pop’ (misnomer anyway!) convenience stores and gas stations.
