Congress questions Syrian refugee resettlement plan; Obama Administration appears to be back-peddling

Wow!  I missed this story while I was away.  It is from Newsweek last Thursday entitled:  ‘U.S. Congress Questions Plan to Admit Syrian Refugees.’

Less than two months ago, Asst. Sec. of State for PRM, Anne Richard, said that the US would be bringing in 10,000 Syrians THIS year, so what gives? The UN is going to be very very unhappy to hear the latest news! https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/23/asst-secretary-of-state-anne-richard-we-have-1000-1500-syrian-referrals-coming-in-a-month/

This is very big news because I haven’t heard a peep out of Congress on Muslim Somalis or Iraqis in more than five years, and so wonder why the Syrian Muslims are now drawing fire.  I think we may have turned a corner!  Was Paris the final straw?

The other amazing news in here is that the Administration is vigorously back-peddling from a promise made recently by the US State Department to admit 9,000-10,000 Syrians THIS FISCAL YEAR (we are already 4 months into FY2015 which began on Oct. 1, 2014).

We followed closely the beating George Bush took from reporters shilling for the ‘humanitarian industrial complex’ back in 2007 and into 2008 when the Bush Administration was nervous about security issues involving Iraqi refugees and now find it amusing that no one is beating on Obama about his Administration’s (fortunate-for-us!) foot-dragging on Syrians.

From Newsweek (hat tip: Joanne):

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Republican-led House Committee on Homeland Security is challenging an Obama administration plan to admit Syrian refugees to the United States, saying it could allow potential terrorists to sneak into the country.

In a letter sent to the White House, Michael McCaul, who chairs the Homeland Security Committee and Peter King and Candice Miller, who chair subcommittees, said the administration’s plan “raises serious national security concerns.”

The letter, dated Wednesday, said the United States lacks the resources to fully investigate the backgrounds of refugees from Syria, a base for Islamic State militants, before they are admitted to the country.

Anne Richard, an Assistant Secretary of State, said on Dec. 9 that the United States resettled nearly 70,000 refugees from nearly 70 countries in 2013 and that the administration’s refugee plans would lead to “resettling Syrians as well.”

Richard said the United States was already reviewing around 9,000 Syrian refugee cases referred by a United Nations agency and was receiving “roughly a thousand new ones each month.”

I would not trust this next paragraph. This could very well be a head-fake:

A State Department official said that the United States was likely to admit 1,000-2,000 Syrian refugees this government fiscal year and a few thousand more in Fiscal Year 2016. The official said that Syrian refugees applying for admission to the United States will “undergo additional screening specific to this population.”

LOL! We can be sure they are screening Muslims because there would be no reason to fear, and to vigorously screen, the Christian Syrians.

Remember folks!  The contractor cabal (led by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) is asking for 15,000 Syrians each year for five years!

Part Three: A Culturally Clever, Bacha Bazi Predator

Editor:  This series of guest columns by ‘Pungentpeppers’ about refugees who are also child predators has been wildly popular.  Part II went through the roof yesterday via facebook.  Below is the next installment as we pick up the story of perhaps Australia’s most infamous pedophile.  (You may want to read Part I  first about America’s own Bacha Bazi predator.)

Part Three: A Culturally Clever, Bacha Bazi Predator

In Part Two — It’s May 2014. Child predator Omid Roshan sits behind bars, but Ali Jaffari is roaming free. Melbourne residents report sightings of the Afghan sex offender. He seems to be everywhere! The public is on high alert.

Afghan men do not think of women as sex objects, how could they when the women are covered. Woe to the young boys. Photo: http://awwproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/boy-with-burqas.jpg

“Jaffari should not be on the streets,” child protection activists agree. But amid calls for his deportation, one Melbourne-area activist is concerned that, if Australia deports him, Jaffari will harm children in his home country. She says, “We can’t let child abuse travel.” (See the Herald Sun, here).

But child abuse has already traveled — from Afghanistan to Australia.

Bacha Bazi, or sexual abuse of boys, introduced in Part One of this series, is pervasive and culturally accepted in Afghanistan. The country has more pedophiles per capita than any other place on earth. It has been going on there for centuries, and is so ingrained that Afghan men do not think of women as sex objects. After all, “How can you fall in love with a woman if you can’t see her face?!”

The abusive practice is most common among Pashtuns – perhaps as many as 50% of Pashtun men take boys for lovers – but it is also prevalent among other Afghan ethnic populations, including the groups to which our two featured sex offenders belong. Omid Roshan is likely a Tajik; while Ali Jaffari is a Hazara.

Jaffari is not the naive and innocent bumpkin he pretends to be…

The widespread acceptance of Bacha Bazi in his country may have given Ali Jaffari the idea that he could exploit his cultural background to evade punishment for misbehaving in Australia. Thus, after his arrest for molesting the boys in the pool, two months later he feigns innocence and disingenuously tells police in Geelong, as he is stopped after trying to kidnap the little girl: “for us is not an issue”.

Jaffari is not the naive and innocent bumpkin he pretends to be, albeit he grew up poor and uneducated in a rural part of Afghanistan’s Ghazni province. After his father was shot dead in 2003 (Jaffari was in his mid-20’s), his family fled to Pakistan. Although the odds were stacked against him, Jaffari found opportunity and exploited it to personal advantage. Motivated to travel to Indonesia, he collected the immense sum demanded by smugglers to pay for passage by boat to Australia – no small feat. During 15 months of detention, Jaffari learned the stratagems required to win permanent asylum and benefits from the Australians – and was successful.

Given his past wins at the Australian game, it’s no surprise that during the long intervals between arrests and court appearances, the ever resourceful Ali Jaffari devises his “cultural” strategy. And the Australian magistrates, oh so understanding and wanting to be culturally aware, lap up Jaffari’s concocted tale of innocence, deprivation and loneliness — and so they fail to lock up the conniving predator who had the audacity to frighten a woman and her children by following them through a park at night, making noises and touching himself.

Will the courts finally stop Jaffari? Or will the government step in?

And why won’t the Afghans stop the hideous practices that bring shame to their nation? Does the reason have something to do with Islam?

More to come, in Part Four!

US Census considering special category for Muslim ‘race’

This is a story that appears at the DC Clothesline, but was first published by Pamela Geller (hat tip:  Joanne) while I was away.

Hassan Jabar of Access who sits on a Census advisory board received a $2.5 million grant for each of the next five years from the State of Michigan for youth education. http://downriversundaytimes.com/2014/09/18/access-announces-grant-award-of-12-8-million/

Here is how it begins:

The US under Obama is considering adding a new race in the census. The move would give this group, previously classified as white, much greater political clout and access to public funding.

More political power and taxpayer dollars — it’s madness.

Then here is the news account that follows (from AP):

DETROIT (AP) – The federal government is considering allowing those of Middle Eastern and North African descent to identify as such on the next 10-year census, which could give Arab-Americans and other affected groups greater political clout and access to public funding, among other things.

The U.S. Census Bureau will test the new Middle East-North Africa (MENA) classification for possible inclusion on the 2020 census if it gets enough positive feedback about the proposed change by Sunday, when the public comment period ends.

Arab-Americans, who make up the majority of those who would be covered by the MENA classification, have previously been classified by default as white on the census, which helps determine congressional district boundaries and how billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated, among other things.

Those pushing for the MENA classification say it would more fully and accurately count them, thus increasing their visibility and influence among policymakers.

“We know the challenges,” says Hassan Jaber, who runs a Detroit-area social services group and serves on a census advisory board formed to evaluate Americans’ changing racial and ethnic identities. “It really does take rethinking … who we are as a population and what our needs are, (but) there are specific needs for Arab-Americans that are not being recognized and not being met.”  [So what special treatment do Arabs need and why?—ed]

[….]

A proposed Middle Eastern or North African category on the 2020 Census is expected to be tested nationally later this year and the bureau is currently inviting comments on the collection of this and other information.

I’m not sure I agree that this is madness.  It may very well have ramifications we would be unhappy with, but we must find out how many Muslims are in the US right now.  Pew Research says we have 2.75 million while CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) says 7 million.    Pew’s number puts us at less than 1% of the US population.  We know that France, for instance, is now about 7% (some estimates are higher) and they are in deep demographic trouble.

I’ve been estimating that at 3% the Muslim population reaches a tipping point and is emboldened and begins making demands via calls for certain shariah compliance. Others in the know, say 2% is that point.

It is imperative that we know how much time we have left.  In truth though, by the time they begin this 2020 census it may be too late anyway.

It is all about the Hijra—the Muslim migration to America—and the quiet jihad!

France: EU shaken by rise of Le Pen in polls

As the ‘Invasion of Europe’ by mostly Muslim asylum seekers (aka illegal aliens) continues unabated, it naturally increases the popularity of  Marine Le Pen’s Front National party.

From The Spectator:

…. the country that most worries European policymakers isn’t Greece or Spain but France. Its economy is showing no signs of recovering and its politics are threatening to become very ugly indeed.

A new poll published this week shows the Front National’s Marine Le Pen topping the first round of the French presidential election. The poll by Ifop for Marianne magazine has Le Pen on 29%, Sarkozy on 23% and Hollande on 21%. Now, the polls do show her losing in the second round to both men. But, in a sign of how much has changed since 2002 when her father polled a mere 18% in the final round against Jacques Chirac, she is on 45% against Hollande and 40% against Sarkozy.

The US needs a party like this one!

Afghan military officer denied asylum in US; left his US base last September

Remember the story:  concern was raised when three Afghan military trainees went AWOL in Massachusetts.

Maj. Jan Mohammad Arash, 48, Capt. Mohammad Nasir Askarzada, 18, and Capt. Noorullah Aminyar, 20. (not sure in which order!) http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/missing-afghan-soldiers-found-at-canadian-border-near-niagara-falls/question-4510091/

The first one to go before an immigration judge has been denied refugee protection in the US.  He says he fears the Taliban.  Well, he shouldn’t!  According to Obama and his State Department the Taliban is not a terrorist group!

From Olean Times Herald:

BUFFALO (AP) — An immigration judge denied asylum Friday for an Afghan military officer who sneaked away from a U.S. training exercise in Massachusetts to avoid returning to Afghanistan, where he said he had been threatened by the Taliban.

The judge ruled that Maj. Jan Arash did not qualify for certain protections because the Taliban is not a government, his lawyer said, nor had he proven that he would be persecuted, rather than legally prosecuted, by the Afghan government.

“If he gets deported and hung for desertion, that’s OK under the law,” attorney Matthew Borowski said.

“We have no choice but to appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals,” the attorney said. The process could take several months.

In the meantime, Arash will continue to be held at the Buffalo Federal Detention Center, where the asylum case was heard.

Arash is one of three Afghan military officers who were detained in September after being denied entry into Canada, where they had planned to seek refugee status.

[….]

The three soldiers took a cab more than 500 miles from Massachusetts to the Canadian border in Niagara Falls while in the United States for a training exercise at Joint Base Cape Cod. In interviews with The Associated Press shortly after they were detained, they described being targeted by the Taliban because of their work with U.S. soldiers.

If granted asylum, Arash will be eligible for the Cadillac treatment all refugees receive—virtually all forms of welfare, healthcare, job counseling and training, etc. by one of the hundreds of federal contractors operating in over 180 cities in the US.  He would be able to bring his family from Afghanistan to join him.
