Another TB shocker from Breitbart: over 200 active TB cases in Arizona began as latent TB

Over and over again we are told that we have nothing to fear from the high percentage of refugees who enter the US infected with latent Tuberculosis, however, all too often latent becomes active as Michael Patrick Leahy at Breitbart tells us in the latest installment of his investigation of TB and other diseases refugees are permitted to bring with them to their new homes (in your towns).
Leahy at Breitbart today (emphasis is mine):

The high rate of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) among refugees is a public health issue, Arizona state officials say.

“Most [of the] 222 cases of active tuberculosis infection (TB) …reported among Arizona’s refugee populations…[in] the past two decades …were caused by latent tuberculosis infections that became active after years or even decades of lying dormant,” according to the state’s Department of Health.

Eighteen percent “of all refugees resettled in Arizona arrive with a latent TB infection,” the 2014 Arizona Refugee Health Report states.

“For this reason,” the report adds, “it is important that those people discovered to have a latent TB infection complete an entire course of medication.” [You, American taxpayers are footing the bill!—ed]

The rate of LTBI among the general population is only 4 percent.

Active TB is infectious, while latent TB is not. Some 10 percent of those infected with latent TB develop active TB.

[….]

The high rate of LTBI among refugees, the significant percentage of arriving refugees who are not even screened for LTBI upon arrival, and very low rate at which refugees who test positive for LTBI complete successful treatment for it, are all reasons for the CDC to tighten its tuberculosis screening standards, as a December 2015 study by seven current and former CDC public health experts recommended….

Haven’t we been told they are already screened overseas first? What is up with this? So they could be wandering around your neighborhoods for weeks without having been health screened?

The political leadership at the CDC, however, shows no indication it intends to change the policy to screen all refugees for LTBI overseas, despite the higher health risks posed by its current tuberculosis screening protocols.

Testimony to the US State Department from Deborah in California

Editor: I am still combing through my hundreds of e-mails to find the testimony you sent to the US State Department in response to the DOS request for public comment on the “size and scope” of the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program for FY2017.
The day before the deadline for submission of testimony I noticed (maybe you were all ahead of me and noticed!) that the dates were wrong in the Federal Register.  I happened to see a comment sent by lawyers to the DOS asking that the comment period be re-opened because citizens, who might like to have testified, didn’t think the notice was for a comment period this year, but for last year.   See here.

Most go to California and Texas.

From Deborah who raises the TB issue here (before we learned this shocking news yesterday):

To Anne .C .Richard
UN/US State Dept Refugee Admissions Program

As an American citizen who immigrated to this country well over ten years ago I am writing to voice my opinion on the influx of refugees being brought to the U.S. by your dept and this administration. I realize this country has a long standing precedent for allowing immigrants as I was one myself but by ignoring the set procedures in order to bring more in you are risking the safety of every American already here. You must resist the urge to accommodate the will of the current administration and look to the future and the outcome of rushing these immigrants through without proper vetting.

Without screening these refugees for TB, as well as other communicable diseases, ( which every legal immigrant has to do) you risk further strain on our already weakened health care system. Legal immigrants must agree to not be a burden on the welfare system which does not apply to these refugees. How is that possibly fair, to penalize those that want to willingly come to this country, verses those that will not assimilate and expect to be financially cared for?

Even in my community I can see the strain this overworked system is having on the lives of Americans and it breaks my heart. I cannot understand how changing the length of the vetting process from 18 months to 3 months is either beneficial or practical especially in light of the current global upheavals both in the United States and abroad.

As a sovereign nation with a long history of charity for our global brothers and sisters I strongly request that the influx of unvetted refugees be reverted back to the original 18 month timeline with emphasis on reducing the volume and increasing the scrutiny. We as a nation are currently going through extreme political changes. It is important to note that this current administration will soon be surrendering the reigns to a new leader and since the voice of the people have loudly and universally rejected continuing the status quo I again ask that you take that fact into consideration when setting refugee admission guidelines for the 2017 year.

This is the fifteenth testimony in our series leading up to the deadline for comments to the Dept. of State on May 19th.  Go here for where they are archived to see what your fellow citizens have said.
I intend to keep posting testimonies, a few a day, until I have exhausted my long list! I had no idea so many of you would respond to my offer!  But, thank you for your hard work!
P.S. I should have mentioned it, but I have been adding photos and other images just to jazz up the plain text, I hope you all don’t mind!

Catholic Charities eyeing Arkansas for new resettlement site

Not enough hours in the day to keep up anymore. The US State Department and its contractors are on a roll trying to set up new resettlement sites to accommodate Obama’s increased numbers especially the mostly Syrian Muslims on the way.

Canopy NWA
Frank Head (Catholic Charities) left, helped start a new group Canopy NWA for the purpose of creating a new refugee resettlement office in northwest Arkansas. http://www.arkansas-catholic.org/news/article/4641/Canopy-group-will-make-sure-refugees-are-covered

Here is news from the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette:

Arkansas took in about 1 out of every 1 million refugees who sought shelter worldwide last year — 13 of the 14.5 million refugees accounted for by the United Nations.

A local group called Canopy NWA wants to raise that number despite a contentious atmosphere about the country’s obligation to alleviate what the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees has called a severely unfair burden on a few countries.

[….]

“We’re talking about one or two families a month,” Frank Head of Catholic Charities said at the group’s May 4 meeting. “People wouldn’t even notice if we didn’t talk about it.”  [I am sure they would like to get the refugee flow moving before people start talking about it!—ed]

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is one of the nine charitable organizations authorized to accept refugees into the country through agreements with the U.S. Department of State.

The group operates in Northwest Arkansas through Catholic Charities Immigration Services. Catholic Charities sent a representative to the May 4 meeting, held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. So did the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, another of the nine authorized groups.

Nina Zelic, director for refugee services for the Lutheran organization, told the dozen interested attendees her group is evaluating the region as a potential site for opening another chapter.

More here.

If you are from Arkansas, you need to educate your governor.  It looks like he thinks this is some sort of private initiative!

Oh, and be sure to read about Utica!

Think about Utica, NY before you jump on the "welcoming refugees" bandwagon

Two years before I started writing RRW, Utica, NY was dubbed the ‘town that loves refugees’ by the United Nations.  They even had some propaganda show they took on the road to embarrass other cities into ‘welcoming’ refugees just as Utica had!

town that loves refugees
Read the 2005 UN propaganda report used to entice (embarrass) other cities into ‘welcoming’ refugees. http://www.unhcr.org/publications/refugeemag/426f4c772/refugees-magazine-issue-138-town-loves-refugees.html

Now (11 years later) Utica has all sorts of problems.
Here in January 2015 we reported on the school system there suing the state of New York for more money. Why?  Refugee overload!
The school system can’t handle the numbers of refugees who speak over 40 languages in their schools.
From the Wall Street Journal:

Utica officials are grappling with high poverty rates, rising enrollment and big deficits.

Now, just a week or so ago, the school system lost a lawsuit filed by six refugee teenagers who claim they weren’t permitted to attend high school there.

Here is what the NY Times said about the case (by the way, typical of mainstream media reports on refugees, the NYT implies that the refugees simply made their way to Utica from the third world without explaining that the city was targeted as a resettlement site by the federal government and its contractors***!):

The Utica City School District settled a lawsuit on Thursday over its treatment of young refugees, who, the suit charged, were being excluded from the city’s lone high school because of their age and because they did not speak English.

The lawsuit, filed last year on behalf of six refugees by the New York Civil Liberties Union and Legal Services of Central New York, claimed that Utica shunted refugees who were older than 16 into lesser alternatives to high school, like a G.E.D. program only for English-language learners. New York law provides the right to a free public education until age 21.

Similar allegations, that refugee children are being excluded from public schools, have been leveled at districts elsewhere around the state and across the country.

Utica, in central New York, has become a magnet in recent years for those escaping persecution in their home countries. Today, nearly one out of six city residents is a refugee, according to the Civil Liberties Union.

Message to towns considering welcoming refugees—They do not bring economic boom times! Refugees bring poverty and social and cultural strife!

Utica mosque
Utica Methodist church becomes a mosque.

Special treatment for special people!
Further confirming that Utica has a problem with refugee overload, the White House has singled out Utica’s refugee teen population for $2 million worth of summer jobs! What about American kids who need summer jobs?
From Syracuse.com:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Utica is among 11 communities nationwide that will share $21 million in grants for summer jobs programs aimed at helping disadvantaged youth, the White House and U.S. Department of Labor said Monday.

Utica will receive almost $2 million to help 400 students in the city’s refugee population receive summer work experience and part-time jobs the rest of the year, White House officials said.

Again, think about the BIG LIE that refugees will help your struggling city. They won’t! The only money they will bring in to your town is the money Washington throws the city through myriad welfare programs—food stamps, medicaid, section 8 housing, and now funding for summer jobs.  Washington doesn’t grow money on trees!  The taxpayers of America are propping up refugee saturated cities!

If you live in newly targeted refugee placement cities—Rutland, VT, Reno, NV, Missoula, MT and Ithaca, NY (and more!)—think long and hard if you want to be like Utica, NY some day!

Chipotle Mexican Grill 'partners' with refugee contractor IRC

chipotleOne more reason to drive right by your local Chipotle restaurant.  They fund the Left!  The Wiser Shopper sent us this information.
Chipotle gave the International Rescue Committee (IRC) $500,000 in one recent year (see here). They also gave The Nature Conservancy (an organization I know an awful lot about and it isn’t good!), $100,000 in another year.
We have an extensive archive on the IRC, click here.   Especially don’t miss the latest news (not reported by the mainstream media) that the IRC has had federal funding suspended while being investigated for corruption in Turkey.
