Muslim electorate growing in strength, optimistic about Obama

This information is no surprise, go here and check it out.

What interested me most was this discussion of how Grover Norquist (Americans for Tax Reform) took pride in delivering the Muslim vote for George Bush in 2000.    Then, as we know, Muslims had buyer’s remorse.

According to many, the Muslim American electorate’s “official” coming out party was in 2000 when they emerged as a small but powerful voting bloc. This new group consisted mostly of first- and second-generation South Asian and Arab immigrants, who favored George W. Bush. (In the 2000 election, George W. Bush garnered 42% of the Muslim vote versus 31% for Democrat Al Gore according to Zogby International and Project MAPS, which conducted the first American Muslim Poll in November 2001.)

Upon the advice and counsel of Republican lobbyist extraordinaire Grover Norquist, President Bush actively sought these votes by pledging to repeal the use of “secret evidence” in detaining immigrants, personally reaching out to mosques, imams and Muslim community leaders for their support. A delighted Norquist boasted, “George W. Bush was elected President of the United States of America because of the Muslim vote.”

In hindsight, many Muslim Americans liken that myopic decision to a naïve, well-intentioned prisoner personally polishing and loading a rifle and handing it to his own executioner.

Acting as if they were betrayed by Bush, Muslim Americans seem to forget there was a little event called 9/11 that changed the entire dynamic of Muslim/American relations.   And, despite 9/11 the Bush Administration has bent over backwards (beyond what many of us think is reasonable) to carry out the apparent Norquist strategy of salting the federal government with Islamists whose allegiance is not first and foremost to the United States of America.

How does all this fit into Refugee Resettlement?   What does the Muslim electorate need to move forward?Numbers, of course, and our US State Department and the do-gooder “church” groups are happy to oblige.

Grover Norquist too has been advocating for larger numbers of Iraqis to be allowed to resettle in the US.  How does that fit with tax reform?  It doesn’t!   Immigrants of all sorts require more government benefits than they return in taxes.

Ft Dix: a target again nearly three decades later

Update October 24th:   Catch up on the trial at Jihad Watch here.

The trial of the Ft. Dix terrorist plotters begins today in New Jersey. (Hat tip:  Blulitespecial)  The Muslim men, one of whom was a refugee who was housed at Ft. Dix following Bill Clinton’s Bosnian War, are charged with planning to bomb soldiers preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan.

CAMDEN, N.J. — A jury will hear opening arguments Monday in the trial of five men accused of plotting to kill soldiers on Fort Dix, a case the government has presented as one of the most frightening examples of homegrown terrorism since the Sept. 11 attacks.

The five defendants _ all foreign-born Muslim men in their 20s who have spent much of their lives in the southern New Jersey suburbs of Philadelphia _ were arrested in May 2007 and accused of plotting to sneak onto Fort Dix to attack soldiers. The Army base primarily trains reservists for duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

My son deployed from Ft. Dix, near where I grew up, on his way to Iraq as did my father on his way to World War II.   So I have some affinity for this sprawling Army base in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

Nearly three decades ago there was another plot to attack soldiers at Ft. Dix and only the death of three terrorists while building their bombs saved the soldiers’ lives.   That botched bombing attempt, if you think about it, had actually gone further then the one these terrorists on trial today were planning, yet the leaders of the Weather Underground are walking around free as birds and hanging around the neighborhood with a possible future President of the United States.

Also in 1970, three members of Ayers’s group were killed when a nail bomb – intended for a non-commissioned officers’ dance at Fort Dix – exploded prematurely at a townhouse in Greenwich Village. Ayers’s then-girlfriend and a former roommate of Ayers were among those killed.

i. Referring to the Fort Dix plot and the bombings, Life magazine noted: “A bomb set off in a public place is a message of hate addressed to whom it may concern.”

ii. In the words of one WUO member: “What we wanted to do here [with the Fort Dix attack] was deliver the most horrific hit that the United States government had ever suffered on its territory. . . . We really wanted to give the United States and the rest of the world the sense that this country was going to be completely unlivable if the United States continued in Vietnam, and that was the goal of this group.”

So what difference is there between Obama’s friends Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and Timothy McVeigh and Osama bin Laden, or the terrorists on trial today in New Jersey?

Swedish citizen was an Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, dead now!

Just came across this story from last week in a blog called Lockandload:

This is one of the unintended consequences you get when muslims are allowed to enter western society: a refugee who became a Swedish citizen only to go to Iraq as a terrorist and attack the government. Fortunately, he was recently killed in fighting there.

This case illustrates the long time that terrorists have been infiltrating the West and using Western society to advance their plans.

Making Keith angry in South Africa

A blogger in South Africa, obviously doesn’t like what I say here at RRW about the Rainbow Nation.

Keith said:

I was directed by an acquaintance to a blog titled, “Refugee Resettlement Watch”.
(Click on the Blog Title above to go there)

This lady, presumably American, has a lot to say about the open border policies of South Africa, racial conflict and the spate of Xenophopic violence we saw here recently. Much of this is controversial and would likely lead to heated debate among any group of south Africans… so don’t follow the link if you do not wish to loose your cool today!

Keith, I invite you to tell me how I have it wrong.   I do believe what is happening in South Africa with open borders, too many people, too few resources (jobs etc.) is not about xenophobia, but the reality of too many people, too few resources, agressive immigrant cultures and your indigenous poor fighting for their bit of a better life.     I think South Africa is a lesson for America.

I just went back and looked at recent posts on South Africa’s “xenophobic” problems, ones you linked to, to see what you are so angry with, and for the life of me I don’t know.  So tell me!

Mentally inferior Black South Africans don’t welcome smarter Somalis

That is not my title!  That is the very improbable title given to yet another rehash of the South African “xenophobia” story we have written about many times.  The title is from an article in Medeshi, an on-line publication about the Horn of Africa.  I really haven’t a clue where they are coming from (well maybe that title gives me a little clue!).

Anyway the article is, as I said, another rehash of the supposed “xenophobia” going on in South Africa where local black South Africans are rioting against other African immigrants many of whom have arrived illegally in the Rainbow Nation that Nelson Mandela created.   Obviously since all involved in the violence are black, they can’t use the word “racist,” so “xenophobia” is the word of choice to explain the behavior of the “mentally inferior” locals.   Sound familiar!

Here is how the “mentally inferior” describe the problem:

Our problem is simple: We are hungry. We are angry. And the Somalis are undercutting us.

Does that sound like a mentally deficient statement to you?

Then here is the only new information this article provides.   All of the other articles I’ve written about and even this article until this point suggests the violence is directed at mostly the arrogant Somalis.   Here a Somali claims that they avoided much of the violence by NOT assimilating.  Frankly that makes no sense to me, and contradicts the first part of this article.

…. the Somali community was still vulnerable because of the differences between Somalis and other cultures, said Alas Jama, 43, a Somali from the Cape Town suburb of Bellville.

Although his countrymen had integrated well when it came to establishing businesses in South Africa’s townships, many preferred not to weave their lives into that of the local community. “Because we are Muslim, many Somalis prefer to marry amongst themselves because of the sensitivities associated with mixing cultures,” he commented.

“Somali people’s culture is very different to those you find in Southern African communities and this leads to problems. Many Somalis don’t feel comfortable taking on local cultural traits, which has the affect of alienating them to some degree,” said Jama, who helped coordinate relief efforts during the xenophobic violence.

“Because other Africans from around the region have integrated better with the South African communities in terms of living amongst and marrying locals, they were the first to be targeted by the mobs that took over,” he said.

“Somalis created their own jobs, opened their own shops and stayed amongst themselves, and this really helped them to be spared during the killings here at that time,” Jama said.
“They lost property and had shops destroyed, but it was those who had integrated best who suffered the most from violence, because they initially felt safe and did not leave in time.”

Huh?   Staying separate, not assimilating, being differant all helped spare them from violence?   Lets go back to the title of this article and ask ourselves—who are the mentally inferior?

Search “South Africa” for all we’ve written on the topic.

Go back to my story of last night from Grand Island, NE and notice a pattern.  Somalis have no plans to assimilate anywhere.
