Informative map at NumbersUSA

As the Catholic, Lutheran and Church World Service federal refugee contractors* get ready to lead their supporters (including probably refugees they have resettled) down Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, DC on Sunday along with assorted anarchists from today’s Marxist/Muslim anti-war rally (see here and here) promoting amnesty for illegal aliens, Numbers USA has over 7000 people visiting district offices of Members of Congress in opposition to a “pathway” to citizenship for those who entered the US illegally.

To help their members better understand where their Representatives stand they have created a very useful and fun map to visit!   Check it out here.   I am happy to report that my Congressman got an A- !

* Shouldn’t the contractors busy themselves taking care of the refugees they have resettled instead of organizing political events for the benefit of  illegal aliens?  And, they are likely using some of your tax dollars to organize out of their federally-funded DC offices!

Sunday march for Open-Borders update

Just as I predicted, here, the Sunday Open-Borders marchers will be tapping participants from Saturday’s Marxist/Muslim/Labor Union anti-war rally.  This is from tonight’s International ANSWER alert:

We expect the composition of tomorrow’s action to be multi-generational but there will certainly be a very large presence of young activists from high schools and college campuses around the country.

Workers are coming. A bus of steel workers is coming from western Pennsylvania. Immigrant construction workers who will be demonstrating Sunday for comprehensive immigration reform will also be joining in the Saturday anti-war protest.

Veterans groups and military families are forming a large contingent.

The besieged Arab-American and Muslim community is also expected to have a large presence.

What did I tell you, it’s a twofer!

Arizona sheriff launches illegal immigration “sweep”

It’s happening this weekend which says to me that Sheriff Joe Arpaio has a great sense of humor!

This weekend as I have been telling you (here and here) for some time now is the March on America (it’s really March for America but I reject the “for”) where labor union leaders, immigrant advocacy groups, and friends of George Soros the CATHOLIC CHURCH, the LUTHERAN CHURCH, and CHURCH WORLD SERVICE (those are the Crop Walk people, btw) among others will be demonstrating in DC in support of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (better known as the Amnesty initiative).

Although come to think of it some of Joe’s illegal aliens might be off in DC having been bussed there by the Tides Foundation’s front group Reform Immigration for America!

From AP

PHOENIX – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona has launched a two-day, countywide crime and immigration sweep that authorities say will focus on drop houses, drug violators and human smuggling vehicles.

Four hundred deputies and volunteer posse members are taking part in the patrols. The sweep, which began Thursday, is Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s 14th since early 2008.

During the sweeps, deputies flood an area of a city — in some cases heavily Latino areas — to seek out traffic violators and arrest other alleged lawbreakers.

Critics say Arpaio’s deputies have racially profiled Hispanics. The sheriff says deputies approach people only when they have probable cause to believe people have committed crimes.

In your face Holder!

Boston area schools (and students!) suffer with influx of Haitian students

I haven’t posted anything on the Haitian refugee issue lately, so thought this article from the Boston Globe would serve as an update.  As is often the case, be sure to check the comments because they are often much more interesting than the story itself.

In the past month or so, hundreds of children from the Caribbean’s poorest nation have enrolled in local schools, challenging teachers to provide support for children struggling to learn English, to adapt to winter, and to make sense of what has become of their lives.

Boston public schools have enrolled at least 99 students from Haiti since the massive earthquake left more than 200,000 dead, some 300,000 injured, and 1 million homeless, according to government estimates. By last week, at least 98 students from Haiti had registered in Brockton, 36 students began classes in Randolph, and 11 were studying in Somerville.

All the districts, though already overcrowded, expect to receive more students in the coming months.

“These are wonderful children who are remarkably resilient, but they need special attention,’’ said Elie Jean-Louis, principal of the Charles H. Taylor Elementary School in Mattapan, where at least 25 Haitian students have enrolled since the earthquake. “They may not understand what they have been through and don’t know what emotions they are carrying inside.’’

Despite the additional financial burdens, state officials have said no money is available to help schools, some of which have had to hire Haitian Creole-speaking staff, offer additional counseling, and open new classes.

School officials said they do not check the immigration status of students and are required to enroll any child whose guardian or relative shows a driver’s license or another document that proves they live in the district. They said some of the students were born in the United States and are US citizens, while others are here on a tourist visa.

In a memo sent to schools last month, Mitchell D. Chester, commissioner of the state Elementary and Secondary Education Department, advised superintendents that “a school-aged child or youth displaced by the earthquake in Haiti and who is now residing in the USA as a doubled-up or homeless unaccompanied youth has the right to enroll immediately in the district of residence.’’

A district would follow the same procedures it would with a child displaced by a domestic natural disaster, Chester said.

Asked whether state officials would offer financial help to districts getting the most students from Haiti, JC Considine, a spokesman for Chester, said he is “not aware of any additional state financial assistance for schools that are enrolling Haitian refugees.’’

Many of those schools already have large populations of Haitian-born students, and they say they are doing their best, despite their limited resources.

In Randolph, Superintendent Richard H. Silverman said the additional students have come as the district faces a budget shortfall of more than $2 million, has cut every school program by at least 10 percent, and plans to eliminate as many as 15 teaching positions. He said each new student costs the district about $10,000.

“We don’t have sufficient funds to operate appropriately as it is, and we’re already in real danger of making significant and damaging cuts to the system,’’ Silverman said. “But we have the obligation to meet the needs of any student who lives in Randolph and comes to our doors, and we’ll do that.’’

[…..]

At Ashfield Middle School in Brockton, principal Barbara Lovell has received at least 29 new Haitian students since the earthquake, doubling the size of some of the English immersion classes.

Lovell has had to open new classrooms in a modular building, bring special education teachers into classes, and ask teachers to work extra hours as they try to serve students with different needs.

“This is very difficult,’’ she said. “The entire school has seen an impact. It’s taxing, tiring, and exhausting for a lot of teachers. The teachers are terrific, but when you’re translating and helping students who don’t speak English, it’s hard. They’re not trained for that.’’

This article reminded me of the comment we received from Winooski, VT recently where a parent said the overload of refugees in that town was keeping his/her child from moving ahead with his education.  May I suggest homeschooling!

Does taking money from Caesar violate the tenets of the Catholic Church?

Or is it only a kind of smorgasbord of tenets that Catholics involved in immigration can pick and choose from?  Today I came across a post at Friends of Refugees about Catholic Charities in Washington, DC requiring employees to agree to adhere to the tenets of the church in order to participate in whatever quasi-charitable* programs they are operating.  By the way, I am assuming it is this Catholic Charities office that received a cool half million of your tax dollars in FY09 and that requires the oath.

While you are at USA Spending.gov, go here and see all of the Catholic Charities offices your tax dollars are funding!

Taking from Caesar (and you)!

This is the question I’m hung up on lately (see Bishops lying to Catholics here)—where in the teaching of the Catholic Church does it say that Catholics have the right to take money from governments (isn’t it a form of stealing when taking money for political causes or for any charity from unwilling taxpayers!) or from organizations and funding sources that promote policies that are clearly against Catholic teaching.

Back to that March on America this coming Sunday!

Here we have US Conference of Catholic Bishops lobbyist telling a conference in New Mexico that they are behind the march.  (I’ve already told you that 95% of the USCCB money for refugees comes from you, the federal taxpayer).

Last night just cruising around I came upon this website where the statement is made that the USCCB is not “sponsoring” the march, just providing Cardinal Mahony to say Mass before the march.   See Mahony to say Mass, here.

The march, whose formal name is “March for America: Change Takes Courage and Faith,” is sponsored by 35 Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and Muslim organizations. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and its immigration reform campaign (Justice for Immigrants) are not among the sponsors, though Justice for Immigrants has organized Cardinal Mahony’s Mass and is clearly supportive of the march.  [Ha! Ha! someone probably told them its illegal to take all that federal money then sponsor demonstrations with it!]

The evil troika!

But, even more disgusting perhaps (if that is possible) then taking your money for their political causes, is that they, the USCCB, is working hand in glove with the George Soros/Drummond Pike/Wade Rathke atheists and one-worlders and uber-Leftists at the Tides Foundation.  (Search RRW for the Tides Foundation, I’ve written a lot about it).

Those Catholic sites send unsuspecting Catholics here, to find DC housing and bus transportation to the march.  Scroll down the page until you get to “Partners.”    Do you see the link for Reform Immigration for America, here.  This group is a front group for the Tides Advocacy FundTides launders money from secret sources and sets up phoney-baloney grassroots groups advocating far left (Marxist/socialist) causes.  From Reform Immigration for America’s “about” page:

The Campaign to Reform Immigration for America is a united national effort that brings together individuals and grassroots organizations with the mission to build support for workable comprehensive immigration reform. The Campaign to Reform Immigration for America is, in part, a project of the Tides Advocacy Fund.

It’s a very sad day for the Catholic Church (and for us Catholics).  What a joke!  They demand an oath to support the tenets of the church from some poor schlub who works in a DC Catholic Charities while the Bishops literally steal from taxpayers and work with international socialists to destroy America.

* I’m calling it quasi-charitable because they are taking other people’s money for their charity!  It is called the re-distribution of wealth!  Indeed, Christianity expects us to be charitable, but with our own money given freely!

Update:  I just heard that Glenn Beck said on his radio show today that everyone should look for the code words “social justice” or “economic justice” on their church’s website and if it’s there, they should run like hell from that church!
