And, you thought the International Rescue Committee was just a bleeding heart NGO

IRC:  We love Hamid Karzai!

Karzai receives his award from now outgoing CEO George Rupp whose taxpayer-funded salary and benefits exceeded $450,000 a year!

Yesterday I told you about how the World Socialist Web Site feels about the second largest of our US Refugee Resettlement contractors (the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is the largest)—the International Rescue Committee that brings on average 10,000 or more refugees a year to your towns and cities.

But, not only that, they muck around in the business of countries all over the world while you pay their salaries and fund their New York galas.

Below (posted yesterday) is what the World Socialists dug out on their finances in an article critical of the organizations choice of David Miliband to head up the multi-million dollar do-gooder operation.  I think it’s called doing well by doing good!*

According to a report on the IRC from Root Cause, a non-profit research and consulting firm, published in the Independent, only 14 percent of its funding came from private sources. Government grants and contracts, in contrast, accounted for 44 percent, foreign government grants and contracts 27 percent and 11 percent from UN agency grants and contracts. As its president, Miliband will receive £263,000 a year (US$400,000) plus £30,000 (US$52,000) from related groups—five times the salary he received as an MP.  [And, about equal to Rupp’s!—ed]

Today a reader sent me this list of the recipients of the IRC’s prestigious “freedom” award given each year, we are told, at a swanky black-tie event in NYC.  Look who they honored in 2002—none other than Afghanistan’s creepy and corrupt President Hamid Karzai!    Earlier awards went to George Soros and John McCain which tells us a lot!

But, what makes that old news so interesting is that our reader directs us to this Reuters story today:

CIA Bribes Karzai: Millions In ‘Ghost Money’ Paid To Afghanistan President’s Office, New York Times Reports

April 29 (Reuters) – Tens of millions of U.S. dollars in cash were delivered by the CIA in suitcases, backpacks and plastic shopping bags to the office of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai for more than a decade, the New York Times says, citing current and former advisers to the Afghan leader.

The so-called “ghost money” was meant to buy influence for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) but instead fuelled corruption and empowered warlords, undermining Washington’s exit strategy from Afghanistan, the newspaper quoted U.S. officials as saying.

“The biggest source of corruption in Afghanistan”, one American official said, “was the United States.”

The CIA declined to comment on the report and the U.S. State Department did not immediately comment. The New York Times did not publish any comment from Karzai or his office.

“We called it ‘ghost money’,” Khalil Roman, who served as Karzai’s chief of staff from 2002 until 2005, told the New York Times. “It came in secret and it left in secret.”

So, either the IRC leaders are incredibly naive suck-ups, or, could they be the bag men?

Maybe that World Socialist Web Site is on to something when they suggest that the IRC’s “humanitarian” involvement in Afghanistan and elsewhere is just a pretty good cover:

The IRC’s charity status is used as a front behind which Washington pursues its strategic interests throughout the globe

Bottom line for us?  Why the hell should hardworking American taxpayers be paying for whatever they are doing—galas for the likes of Karzai, Soros and McCain, or CIA influence buying?

Is the IRC ‘working’ in your city?  Check out their US map here.   And, here is where they are working across the globe.

For new readers: there are presently nine major federal contractors and 300 or so subcontractors bringing refugees and working with asylum seekers in your towns.

One more thing!  I forgot to tell you!  The IRC is a pusher of the Gang of Eight amnesty billGo here and see how they have even drafted the message they want their groupies to send to Congress!  Could it be because there is more money for them and the potential for more ‘clients’ to resettle if the bill becomes law.

*There is actually a song called The Old Dope Peddler which includes these lines:

It’s the old dope peddler

Doing well by doing good.

Kind of schmaltzy but appropriate when considering Karzai, don’t you think?  Listen!

Al-Hijra: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, get it and read it!

In the last 24 hours over 50 readers of RRW clicked on my suggestion to go to Amazon and get the little book that explains what is happening and why Muslim immigrants are flooding western countries—it’s not that they are looking primarily for a better life (a job, a house, a car) it’s because their “faith” instructs them to change the world according to Mohammad’s instruction.

Go here, get the book and read it!   (note I have no deal with Amazon or the authors!).

Modern Day Trojan Horse: Al-Hijra, The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, Accepting Freedom or Imposing Islam? [Paperback]
Sam Solomon (Author), E Al Maqdisi (Author)

I’m wondering if Muslim leaders throughout the US were furious with the Boston Bomber Brothers because the plan is to take us over through our political process and every time someone like Tamarlan Tsarnaev goes off the reservation (because he can’t wait for the long-term plan) and kills innocent people, it sets their agenda back again.  (Although as authors Solomon and Maqdisi tell us there is a terrorism/violence component to Mohammed’s original design).

White House petition to halt all Muslim immigration

Update April 30th:  Well, this is strange.  The little counter hasn’t moved since I signed the petition yesterday.  I did see it moving up during the day as readers here (and elsewhere must have signed it).  This morning I see it’s at 3,220!  Could the White House be pulling a Marco Rubio and stopping its count?  Are you getting that 3,220 figure today too?

Yesterday a reader (Joseline) commenting to the Laura Ingraham post, alerted us to a White House petition to Stop all Islamic immigration into the US.

Tell Obama what you think about Muslim immigration.  And, to get his feet off the desk!

If you agree with Laura Ingraham and me, go here (scroll down list) and sign it!

Here is the text of the petition:

In the wake of the Newtown shootings, the Obama administration thought they should overstep their Constitutional authority to impose gun control. Now in light of the Boston bombings and the direct ties to Islam, I’m calling on the administration to stop all Islamic immigration into the US.

Mr. Obama and others quote Qur’an 5:32, which is about the people of Israel, but NEVER quote the next verse which is about Muslims and indicates the real threat of Islam.

Islam is not a religion of peace. It is a totalitarian, political death cult and as such is not compatible with American culture.

As of this moment, 3,221 people have signed the petition and it needs (only LOL!) 96,780 more by May 22nd!

If you are saying to yourself, I agree but I will then be on some White House hit list—who cares!  Don’t be a (click here)!

Please tweet this out and put it on your facebook page!

Best day ever at RRW yesterday!

We are a small blog on a rather arcane subject that gets a moderate number of readers from day to to day (until the Tsarnaev ‘refugee’ brothers bombed Boston and since then our number of readers has steadily increased).   Yesterday we had a record-breaking number of 3,708 readers.

Granted over 2000 went to one post—Laura Ingraham calls for halt to Muslim immigration—demonstrating the power of social media (facebook in this case).   The next two top posts following far behind were the Diversity is Strength alert from Wisconsin and the Minneapolis intimidation and harassment post.

If you are a new reader here, we started writing this blog (a charitable enterprise) in 2007 when Mesketian Turks/Russian Muslims were brought to our rural county in Maryland by the Virginia Council of Churches (subcontractor of major federal contractor Church World Service).   We, blog partner Judy and other women friends, just wanted to figure out how that could be done with no approval process by local elected officials or consultation with the citizens who were told we must be “welcoming.”   It is a very long story (chronicled in our category entitled ‘September Forum’), but the bottomline is that here we are, going on to our 6th anniversary in July, still trying to understand the refugee and asylum process in America (and the world!) and trying to educate you.

You can see from the categories on the left hand column how busy we have been—there are 1,500 posts on Muslim refugees alone!   We are approaching the 1.5 million visitor mark and have written 4,626 posts in all.  We have readers from all over the world.

If you don’t find a topic among our categories that interests you, we have a great search function.  Type in a couple of search words and presto you will likely find something that you want to learn more about.

And be sure to check the TOP POSTS in the right hand sidebar every day to see what posts most readers are finding of interest.  Sometimes it’s a post that is several years old because the topic has suddenly become relevant.

I apologize that our fact sheet (on the header) is out of date, but those mundane chores—updating a fact sheet (yuk!)—are hard to do when every day there are so many news stories begging to be reported.  Also, I’m not very good at responding to comments (I’ll try harder).  And, I stink at keeping up our facebook page, but have recently started tweeting, so follow me—Ann C @Refugee Watcher.

And, thanks for visiting RRW!
