Caritas of Austin, TX training refugees for employment (with your tax dollars)

This is an all too-familiar story.  You might think that resettlement contractors like this one in Austin are taking care of refugees with their own private charitable Catholic dollars, but they aren’t.  The majority of their funding comes from you—taxpayers of Texas and the US.

From their website:

Budget grows to $6.5 million, approximately 60% governmental dollars and 40% philanthropic.

When the ACLU is busy getting the Ten Commandments removed from public buildings, don’t you wonder why they are silent on all this government money going to a church group—it’s one of those great imponderables motivating Leftwing political action.  Or, could they be busy changing the demographics of red states?

What! No poor and jobless Americans left in Austin?

I guess there are no low-skilled Americans who want to work in Austin and so Caritas has become the headhunter for the hotel and restaurant industry there—paid by you, of course, to teach job skills to refugees and asylees.  From CultureMap.com:

Caritas also offers job training for its refugee clients and partners with an organization called English at Work to provide vocationally oriented English language classes.

“It’s unusual for a refugee to come speaking English,” says Quinn. “Some of the refugees come illiterate in their own language, so English is very hard to learn. But we have some partners that are creative with us in helping clients learn survival English, especially English that is related to a job that they’re going to get.”

“So we have a food industry and housekeeping training program,” ***says Quinn. “Our trainers have been trained by all the [Austin area] hotels to know the systems to use for the housekeeping and food industry. We have a really good relationship with the hotels and they love hiring our clients, because our clients don’t need training. We’ve already trained them.”Some refugees arrive in Austin with highly advanced degrees, while many others are employed initially in the service industry and work in local hotels and restaurants.

iACT for Refugees, a program of Interfaith Action of Central Texas, estimates that about 1,000 refugees are legally resettled in Austin each year.

Caritas director of development: “Refugees add to this fabric.” [That must be a newfangled  way of saying “diversity is strength.”]

By the way, Caritas Austin is hosting a speaker from Clarkston, Georgia at an upcoming event to tell them how great things are in Clarkston.  Only problem is there was so much ‘adding to the fabric’ in Clarkston that refugee resettlement was recently suspended there because the community couldn’t handle any more refugees.  Read all about it here, and here.

*** Question?  When the hotel and food industries (with the Gang of Eight) succeed in getting the 11 million illegal aliens ‘out of the shadows’ and competing for jobs then what happens to the refugees?

In 2012 Texas led the nation in the number of resettled refugees (not counting asylum seekers or those already granted asylum, and probably not the Cubans or Haitians otherwise Florida would be higher on the list); followed by California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Arizona, Washington, and North Carolina.

How much money does the United States spend on refugees and asylees?

Your tax dollars!

That is a question being searched-for lately that has brought readers to RRW.  It is hard to answer with any accuracy.

Before I direct you to the closest figures I have, remember that these budget numbers do not include costs presently being absorbed by your states.   The numbers on page 58 of the Proposed Refugee Admissions for FY 2013 were sent to Congress by President Obama near the end of FY2012.

The summary of costs, also does not include costs associated with the Unaccompanied Alien Childrens Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income Programs, Educational costs, Section 8 housing, other medical assistance from states, ESL programs and others I can’t think of at the moment.

So we see that excluding those costs above—Refugee Resettlement was expected to cost the US taxpayer in FY 2013—$1,064,700,000 (that’s a billion with a B).  A very large portion of this funding is distributed to unaccountable non-profit groups who contract to manage and care for the refugee population.

The program comes under the purview of three cabinet-level federal departments: the US State Department, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security.

Diversity is strength alert! Wisconsin immigrant found with severed head in car trunk

Just when I thought I could go outside and get some work done, along comes a story I just had to post right now!

Before I give you the latest ‘diversity is strength’ news, please visit Ann Coulter’s great article yesterday in which she lists about 15 major murder sprees by mostly LEGAL immigrants.

Alleged murderer, Kou Thao, held on $1 million bond.

Now from Wisconsin AP (hat tip: George).   Severed head—Muslim killing?  Nope, looks like Vietnamese or Hmong.  The federal contractors brought a lot of Southeast Asians to Wisconsin.  If anyone sees any news about his immigration status, send it my way, but the mainstream media almost never gives us that information.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — Authorities found a Minnesota man’s severed head in the trunk of a car and other body parts in the basement of a Milwaukee home, according to a criminal complaint charging a central Wisconsin man with first-degree intentional homicide.

A judge ordered Kou Thao, 26, held on a $1 million cash bond during an initial appearance Monday. The Wausau man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 1.

The investigation began April17 when police were called to a Wausau home. The suspect’s brother-in-law, Yeh Lor, told officers Thao came to the house with Tong Pao Hang, a 58-year-old man from St. Paul, Minn. Hang was the boyfriend of Lor’s aunt.

Lor told detectives he was smoking outside while Thao and Hang went into the basement to drink. He said he heard what sounded like a single gunshot come from the basement. When he went downstairs to investigate, he saw the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

The two men wrapped the body in a tarp and loaded it into a car, Lor told investigators. Lor told authorities he helped Thao with the body because he thought Thao might have a gun. [was it a legal gun?—ed]

Officers found Thao on Thursday at a Milwaukee home. When police knocked on the door of the home Thao ran out the back door but was quickly caught and arrested, the criminal complaint said.

Wausau police assisted with executing a search warrant on the car and home. They found a bucket in the trunk containing Hang’s severed head, with a gunshot wound between the eyes.

Abdurahman Alamoudi, the Boston bombers, Grover Norquist, and the GOP

Michelle Malkin is on a roll.  Yesterday, she reminded us again of Grover Norquist’s connection to Islamists, like the now imprisoned Alamoudi.  My title above is hers.

I wonder if Norquist sends Alamoudi gift packages to his prison cell?

Someone please tell Senator Marco Rubio that his buddy Norquist is an open borders pusher because he is also an Islamist which some on the right have been pointing out for going on ten years.   But, this is one more case where the mainstream media is doing a great disservice to its viewers and readers by never mentioning the controversy.

Human Rights First, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, LaRaza—Norquist is all yours now!

By the way, Norquist even has a connection to refugee resettlement.  As early as 2007, we reported on Norquist pushing for Iraqi refugees to be admitted to the US, here.   See our entire Norquist archive here, and a more extensive archive on Norquist here at my other blog.  (Just in case some real investigative reporter for a mainstream outlet is interested in helping America.)

Here is Malkin yesterday:

Gee, maybe now someone will listen.

For years, I’ve warned about the GOP’s Grover Norquist problem. Just last week, he was front and center at the Gang of 8′s amnesty press conference — despite longtime concerns expressed on this blog and by national security advocates and activists about his dangerous Islamist alliances and progressive proclivities.

Now we learn that Norquist’s convicted terrorist pal and former funder, Abdurahman Alamoudi, was the first president of the radical mosque attended by the Boston bomber brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev…

[….]

Alamoudi, as I’ve documented repeatedly here, provided seed money to Norquist’s Muslim outreach effort during the Bush years.

Malkin flashes back to 2003:

Norquist’s lobbying firm is registered as a lobbyist for Alamoudi. Alamoudi provided seed money for Norquist’s Islamic Institute, which shares space with Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform group. The institute is run by Alamoudi deputy and former AMC government relations director Khaled Saffuri. Saffuri and Norquist have worked closely with Bush senior adviser Karl Rove to give radical Muslim activists access to the White House.

Read it all, there is much more and lots of links!

Hey guys, where are you?  We have had some great work done in the last few days by Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin.

Actually the guys are out there too—here is Andy McCarthy on the jizya.  This is a great time to educate Americans about Islamic supremacism.

OOPS!  One more thing!  To my knowledge Grover has never apologized for his association with Alamoudi.
