This is a story we missed earlier this month, but Chris Coen at Friends of Refugees blog spotted the news and reported on it here. (Hat tip: Joanne)
Eskinder Negash, who has served as the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement for the last six years, tendered his resignation on December 9th, see it here, calling himself not a “political man.” Of course the implication is that the job is a meat-grinder.
We don’t know what was going on behind the scenes that would push Negash out without having a plan for his future (as he indicates in his letter), but my big problem with his position there is that he himself was a federal contractor at the supposedly charitable US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), now on the federal payroll for 99% of its funds, before he came to the ORR. By the way, the present head honcho at USCRI (Negash’s former boss) was also Bill Clinton’s Director of the ORR!
His partner over at the US State Department, Anne Richard, is also a former contractor. And, I will bet that Negash is replaced by yet another high ranking executive from one of the nine federal contractors.***
The incestuous nature of the relationship between grantor and grantee must be investigated by Congress! You can be sure the present system does not bode well for the US taxpayer being assured that waste, fraud and abuse is being monitored closely. Heck, if there was an effort to seriously watch the contractors, the federal manager (Richard or Negash) would never get a job on the outside in the refugee industry again.
*** These are the nine VOLAGs (contractors) which monopolize the refugee resettlement program. Let’s see which one sends a top level staffer to replace Negash!
Rarely do we see news about the persecuted Christians of Syria. What we have seen indicated many were still in Syria and protected by the Assad government. For new readers, when you see news of the hundreds of thousands of Syrians flooding into UN camps in Lebanon and Jordan, those are mostly Sunni Muslims (thus if we take refugees coming from those UN camps, we will get mostly Muslims in our upcoming batch of 10,000 or so).
This article at National Geographic is pretty interesting. The only problem with going to Turkey is that they are persecuted for their ethnicity and their religion as they return to their ancient (pre-Islam!) homeland.
Many are waiting in Midyat for their applications for asylum in Germany and elsewhere in Europe to be approved.
MIDYAT, Turkey—On most afternoons, Mor Barsaumo, a honey-colored, fifth-century stone church nestled in a warren of slanted streets, draws a crowd. In the narrow courtyard, old men smoke cigarettes and drink coffee, while children kick a soccer ball across the stone floor. In a darkened classroom, empty except for a few desks, a teacher gives private lessons in Syriac, derived from Aramaic, the language of Christ.
And now, the refugees also come.
Advised by relatives or other refugees, newcomers to Midyat often make the steps of the church their first stop. Midyat and its environs—known in Syriac as Tur Abdin, “mountain of the servants of God”—are the historical heartland of the Middle East’s widely dispersed Syriac Orthodox Christian community. Now the region has become a haven as the fighting in Syria and Iraq has forced Christians to flee their homes.
“All Syriac Christians come here. Most of the aid is delivered from here,” says Ayhan Gürkan, a deacon at Mor Barsaumo and a member of the Tur Abdin Syriac Christians Committee, set up to look after Midyat’s Christian refugees.
But, even their refuge in Turkey is temporary:
For the four monks at Mor Gabriel Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world, the flight of so many refugees to Europe is a painful reminder of how little is left of their world. A few refugees stay intermittently at the monastery, where they receive free room and board as well as money for doing odd jobs, but many head to Europe.
Here, Isa Gulten, an archdeacon at the monastery, conducts sporadic lessons in Syriac. This time, it’s for an audience of one: a German of Syriac descent studying to become a priest when he returns to Berlin. “You are listening to the original language of Christ,” Gulten says, reading a passage from St. Paul’s epistles.
“As Christians, we suffer doubly in the Middle East,” he says, pointing to the difference with Turkey’s Kurds, most of whom are Sunni Muslims. “The Kurds here are persecuted just for their ethnicity. But we are persecuted for both our ethnicity and our faith.”
As far as we know, only Canadahas said specifically it will take Syrian Christians as a first priority, and as you can imagine the ‘humanitarian industrial complex’ is not pleased!
Has anyone heard anything out of the contractors, including the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, specifically about these Syrian Christians?
I wish I knew who we were processing into America from Malaysia. As I told readers here recently we have already “welcomed” to America, 1,504 “refugees” from the safe Muslim country in only the first two months of the fiscal year.
Why is it in our national interest to relieve Malaysia of some of its asylum seekers/illegal migrants?
If you go to this fiscal year’s (FY2015) State Department statisticsyou can see that we took a huge number of “refugees” from Malaysia in the first two months of this year (October and November)—1,504. Again, Malaysia is a safe Muslim country so who are we taking?
I bet we took thousands from Malaysia in FY2014, but those stats are no longer available to the general public.
Who are those “refugees?” Are they persecuted Malaysian Christians? Are they illegal aliens (Muslims) who got to Malaysia hoping to make it to Australia? Is this like our Malta situation where we are taking another country’s illegal aliens?
The State Department does not make public the nationalities of those coming to America from Malaysia! We can only guess that they are Burmese Muslims, or Somalis, or more Middle Eastern Muslims. Again, persecuted minorities (like the Christians) won’t be seeking protection in Malaysia. And, if they are why is the State Department keeping it secret?
Two articles about problems the UNHCR is having in Malaysia caught my eye yesterday. The first one was about how 365 migrants were caught carrying FAKE UNHCR identification cards. Those “Myanmar nationals” mentioned are likely mostly Muslims, possibly Rohingya.
From the Sun Daily via UNHCR News on December 23rd:
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 365 illegal immigrants, mostly Myanmars, were caught by the authorities, possesing fake United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) cards to stay and work in the country.
They were among 416 illegals nabbed in the six-hour integrated operation called ‘Op Bersih’ led by the Kuala Lumpur police contingent and other security agencies, including the Immigration Department, Registration Department, UNHCR, Rela, and the Civil Defence Department at the Selayang Wholesale Market, here, that began at midnight.
Kuala Lumpur police CID deputy chief, ACP Khairi Ahrasa in a statement said the operation to reduce the number of illegals in the country managed to detain 351 Myanmar nationals, 20 Bangladeshis, 30 Indonesians, seven Indian nationals and six other nationals for illegal entry and using fake UNHCR cards.
And the funny part (not really funny) is that just a week before, the UNHCR was blasting authorities in Malaysia for harassing those poor “refugees” carrying UNHCR ID cards. Here also at the Sun Daily:
PETALING JAYA: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is concerned over the arrests of UNHCR card holders in the country for various Immigration-related offences.
UNHCR External Relations officer Yante Ismail said these card holders are at risk of being arrested by the authorities as currently there are no domestic laws that can make a distinction between refugees and undocumented migrants.
She said they will intervene with the authorities whenever the registered refugees are arrested for various Immigration-related offences to advocate their release.
According to UNHCR statistics, there are over 150,000 refugees and asylum-seekers in the country from countries such as Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Somalia and Pakistan.
In an immediate response, an Immigration Department spokesman did not deny that Malaysia lacks a legislative and administrative framework to address refugee matters, adding that all of the refugees are allowed to stay in the country only with the government’s compassion.
However, he refuted the allegation of UNHCR card holders being arrested saying that it is always their standard operating procedure not to arrest registered refugees.
“Even if we (mistakenly) detain the refugees, we will check with the UNHCR to find out whether the card is valid or not, if it is valid, then we let them go,” the spokesman told theSun.
Can you just imagine the amount of corruption going on in a place like Malaysia with 150,000 mostly Muslim “refugees” and “asylum-seekers” hanging around waiting for the big prize—a ticket to Australia or America!
…. also update below on Albanian gangsters in Philadelphia.
Before you read on please see one of several posts we have written on how the Clinton Administration opened the flood gates to mostly Muslim Albanian so-called ‘refugees’ in 1999, here. By the way, I just a week or so ago printed out the damning National War College Report by David M. Robinson, but it appears to now be unavailable. (See if you can access it, it is linked in that post I just mentioned.)
WEST NYACK – Two teenagers accused of rampaging through the Palisades Center on Black Friday and attacking people, including two Orthodox Jews, have been charged with assault as a hate crime, Clarkstown police said Tuesday.
Chris Bujaj, 17, of Tuckahoe and Ardijan Mehaj, 17, of Yonkers were charged with the felony hate crime after two Orthodox men were called “dirty Jews” during the assault at the shopping center, police said.
Police are still looking for a third man who participated in the attacks, which left five people injured during a 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. spree on the year’s busiest shopping day.

“There was no reason for the attacks, except for possible intoxication or just looking for trouble,” Detective Lt. Glen Dietrich told The Journal News in early December. “They were kind of grabbing people and punching them.” [No reason? Did anyone ask them if the ‘Religion of Peace’ motivated the attack on the Jews?—ed]

The victims told officers that the trio had eastern European accents, possibly Russian or Albanian. [names are Albanian—ed]
They subsequently arrested the third attacker. See here.
Albanian gangsters found guilty in Philadelphia
This is an update on the story we first reported here. And, also thanks to crime investigator ‘Pungentpeppers’ for spotting it.
A federal jury on Dec. 15 found four area men guilty of racketeering for their roles in a gambling and loan-sharking ring that operated in several Mayfair businesses.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office identified Ylli Gjeli, 49, as the “boss” of the operation and Fatimir “Tony” Mustafaraj, 42, as the “muscle.” Those two directed other members of the conspiracy in loan-sharking and illegal gambling activities, including Gezim “Sam” Asllani, 35, and Rezart Rahmu “Luigi” Telushi, 41. All four defendants were Philadelphia residents. At the time of their August 2013 indictment, authorities identified them as natives of Albania or of Albanian heritage, although all are naturalized citizens of the United States.

By the way, whencities like Pittsburgh fall for those economic studies that they say show how refugees bring economic prosperity to cities, do they ever factor in the costs involved in the criminal justice system?
This is actually pretty funny! Indonesia, a Muslim country, has long served as a transit route for the Middle Eastern and African illegal aliens (boat people) wanting to get into Australia, but Australia has been attempting to stop the illegal migration and is now guarding its borders. Consequently, the pile-up of “asylum seekers” in Indonesia has become a problem.
Here is a thought—let Indonesia give refuge to fellow Muslims.
JAKARTA — Senior Indonesian officials say they are looking for an island to accommodate some 10,000 asylum seekers and refugees waiting for resettlement in the country, as they have become a “burden.”
Asylum seekers flock to Indonesia from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, hoping to reach Australia. But Indonesia’s southern neighbor has recently announced that all refugees registered at the Jakarta office of the UNHCR refugee agency from July 2014 will now automatically be banned from resettlement in Australia.
Australia’s immigration minister Scott Morrison compares the ban to “taking the sugar off the table,” and says it’s in Indonesia’s interest.“We’re trying to stop people thinking they can go to Indonesia and wait around till they get to Australia,” he told Australia’s ABC Radio late November. “This is designed to stop people flowing into Indonesia. It will help Indonesia.”
But Indonesian authorities don’t see it that way. “It’s Australia’s right, but it’s creating a burden for us,” said Indonesia’s Justice and Human Rights minister Yasonna Laoly on Australia’s ABC News. “There are 10,000 foreign citizens, which becomes a burden for us.”
Indonesia has never signed any refugee treaty with the UN! So, why isn’t UNHCR Antonio Guterres blasting Indonesia? Is it because it is already a Muslim country and it is Australia that should be Islamized? (LOL! is that a word?).
As a signatory to the United Nations’ Refugee Convention, Australia is bound by international law to protect refugees. Indonesia has not signed the treaty.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s anti-immigration “Operation Sovereign Borders” was launched shortly after he took office late 2013, and has created tensions with Jakarta. Indonesian authorities haven’t been happy with Australia towing back boats of migrants en route to Australia towards Indonesian waters.
